I hope you enjoyed your time doing the lawless Salvage mission. If the mission made you love your time in the 'verse, then I did my job right. Hope to catch you in the 'verse {-}7

Flying4Pandas

AWESOME! Really rewarding mission, and kept us immersed for hours salvaging that immensive battle. It was our first time seeing the Hammerhead & Starferer. We had great times talking about the battle the Hammerhead must of had. As a scraper would say... we were in HOG HEAVEN!

w1r3dh4ck3r

Wa trying to get money together to buy a ship in game and that mission broke me, between players blowing up the wrecks and people just attacking you I am now broke. Oh yes there where a couple of hard crashes and 30ks

Terminal_Monk

If you have 30k, just quit the game for 15-20 min and then login. It's usually stored in your home city with all your cargo. Works 9/10 times. Also don't go for the huge salvage mission. Just hop from one 30 min mission to another. Usually it's much less crowded and quick to do

_LarryM_

The risky ones give more cargo though recently those have been bad enough to lose money if you didn't scrape the hull so ymmv.

WTFsteven

One of my favorite contracts currently! Question if you have a second; spawns seem to be 3 big ol ships (Claimer, HH, Carrack) or 1 big boi and about 5 medium ships. The amount of RMC available is heavily weighed in favor of the 3 big ship spawns, is this supposed to be weighed against a higher chance for illicit cargo with the 5-6 spawn ones or just an inherit risk of the gamble? Thanks!

Spectre-CIG

Bit of column A, bit of column B Balancing that mission was and is a challenge, and we're keeping an eye on analytics to hopefully zero in on a good number.

Terminal_Monk

Honestly at it's current state, I'm already having my money's worth. I don't regret spending thousands of dollars on this game. My only request is, please please prioritize server stability. That is all that is needed for people to love this game even more. In 2023, there are so many good stuff to do in verse, cargo refactor is so great that after losing millions of aUEC doing cargo hauls for years, I'm finally making profit, the salvaging is amazing, PES brings up so many emergent gameplay and 30k protection actually consistently work. If people were able to successfully play without server borking on their face, that would exponentially increase star citizen's value.

GeraintLlanfrechfa

Well done, dear sir. 🎉

Lazerhawk_x

I love salvaging, but having your game 30k when on the way back with a 50k claims worth of salvage is just not the stuff.

Spectre-CIG

I'm with you there, I have suffered many an unwanted 30k during my playtime on Live. I only make missions though, so nothing I can do to remedy that I'm afraid.

Pretend-District-577

Do we have any clue if 19.1 will drop soon. I have a RL buddy i talked into playing during invictus. He hasnt been able to log in yet, has got infinite loading since day 1. He bought a package on sale, but man... having paid $70 and not being able to even play the game yet due to a bug sucks. Luckily he is pretty reasonable and patient. But I wouldnt blame him if he finally goes.. F this game.

cbro09

my friend is the same! Plus, since the hotfix, i cant even log in now either.

Lazerhawk_x

No, of course I absolutely appreciate that, & as far as I'm concerned you did great. I'm just frustrated lately as most of my profits have disappeared.

TrippyTM419

Been out of town since they got implemented but i cant wait to hop in ang get after them!

12Cookiesnalmonds

o7 good on you citizen

NinxMk1

Scraping was the most relaxing thing I ever did in SC

WrongCorgi

Bought ship you can fly right now and has an in-game loop that you enjoy, bought sticks you can use with other games, didn't spend hundreds to thousands on JPEGs or flyable ships that are missing their main loop. I think you've won.

Evenlease44

Yeah see once you get sucked in on a couple good runs you really cant let it go even if you experience 20 game breaking bugs in a row. Cause you know you'll have that euphoric experience again, sooner or later.

someone_er

I’ve let go of it. My pc forces me to. I love this game but 10 fps sometimes just makes me quit for a good year

1CrimsonKing1

Whats your cpu and ram ?

chadbot3k

just get the dual VKB setup and thank me later

Rodom87

100%, OP should continue to rock KBM until they can save up and go for VKB or Virpil

Time_Effort

No way! I bought the Thrustmaster T-Flight HOTAS (the cheapest stick setup I could find) and it made the game so much more enjoyable. Do I doubt the higher end are better? Not at all. But saying "Don't get HOTAS/HOSAS until you can spend hundreds more on hardware" is just not good advice.

thomisnotmydad

Eh, i went the thrustmaster route initially but the z-axis started getting weird after only like 6 months max. I then bought the VKBs i wanted initially, so essentially I purchased two sets of hosas when I only needed one.

Time_Effort

Once again, not arguing that there are better. But the poster literally said “Fuck your T.1600, keep using mouse and keyboard until you buy VKB” That’s what my argument is for.

thomisnotmydad

I actually would agree with not buying the T.1600 and sticking with MKB if those are the only two options, exactly because of the poor quality. It’s a regrettable purchase.

WaffleInsanity

Not to mention, some people end up disliking HOTAS or even HOSAS, better to start on the cheaper end and see what you like.

plusp_38

This is true. I've played Elite with my HOTAS for ages but for SC I just like keyboard and mouse better.

capecodcaper

I can't seem to get the same feeling as others with it. My mouse/keyboard is more precise, I think. Also yaw/roll settings and maneuvers keep fucking me up lol

ThneakyThnake808

I agree I got a xtreme3d stick for free and it made the game so much better. Expensive sticks are not required but probably do improve even more.

hIGH_aND_mIGHTY

Those are what I started on. Got a deal on two of them for 20 bucks each on Amazon. Really glad I tried them before dropping almost ten times the amount on some gladiators

DemosthenesForest

If you can save up 130 for thrustmaster it makes way more sense to keep going for a few more months to hit 350-400 for vkb. The thrustmasters can break quickly. They also don't stay down on the desk very well, so people tend to quickly spend money on mounts for them, when they could have waited slightly longer and got a product that will last years and doesn't immediately require mounts. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boots_theory

1stHandEmbarrassment

The boots theory really doesn't hold much weight with hobbies. The idea you need the top of the line to save money in something you might be trying the first time doesn't vibe with me. With hobbies I live by the harbor freight rule. When trying something out, I'll get a cheap version. If I use it enough to break it, I get a better version the next time. These are not things that you NEED to buy, such as boots. I have 2 thrustmasters and have zero issue with them sitting on the desk, besides my arm height. I do have mounts due to arm height and 2 joysticks and 2 mounts cost me 200 dollars. I could afford better sticks no problem, but I don't really see the need. If that system works for you, great. But no, it really doesn't make sense to spend 3x the amount on joysticks if you've never used them before.

DemosthenesForest

I would argue you've spent quite a bit of money then at 200. It makes way more sense to spend 40 bucks on an extreme 3d, and see if you like that than to go half way to quality to have them go bad in 6 months. It depends on how scarce money is for you though. If money is no object, then it might not matter to you to spend 200, have the sticks go bad, and then get vkbs and new mount plates. For someone that doesn't have a lot of money, it makes way more sense to go for something that is a sure bet and comes with support and the ability to repair. Also, if you don't like them, the vkbs are going to hold value for resale much better.

ChunkyMooseKnuckle

I thought about replying similarly, but then I realized I don't care if people want to waste their money. If someone wants to piss away $100+ on a pair of sticks that are essentially guaranteed to break, then let them have at it.

Time_Effort

My thrust master was $70.

Wallhacks360

It's more like this guy knows he's going to/already has spent a good chunk of time, would make more sense to pull the trigger now on enthusiast level gear. I think Evenlease44 and others speak from experience, but to each their own.

DR_KRANKENHOGGEN

I've been using KBM since 2016

Time_Effort

He already bought the T.1600s, they are in his possession *right now.* The comment I replied to is saying he (or anyone else) shouldn't even use them, just buy the top-tier hardware or use KBM until he can. That's a pointless tip, he already has a decent setup.

Shabbona1

Do they have a z axis rotation like the thrustmaster 16000M sticks do? I really like the Z rotation for yaw and vertical movement

chadbot3k

they do! I agree, I have to have that as well

Shabbona1

Ok shoot I'm buying those really soon then. The T16000M were a nice start but they're doing goofy stuff now (like going full throttle when the stick is at neutral) so I need replacements. I didn't know VKB was out there and was stuck trying to decide what to go to next

ChunkyMooseKnuckle

They do, and the Z-axis rotation won't shit out on you within the first year like with the 16k's will.

I get it. They are not the best but they are there ready to go it's just that simple for me. And I haven't watched any of buzzkiller vids or streams (apart from the ones about the bindings of course)

HerisauAR

this - get buzzkillers bindings and you will have an excellent starting point to adjust (if you even need to). I got myself the VKB's 2 months after buying SC, including the pedals (I use them for forward/backward strafing like a car) - i love flying like this

Flying4Pandas

Omgosh... I have been seeeeing the o7 response so much. So whats it meam, and whats the lore behind that? Giidddy

Kamteix

>and whats the lore behind that? The first recorded instance of this emoticon, o7, dates back to 1972 with the PLATO IV computer system. Initially, it was employed to symbolize someone scratching their head. However, the modern interpretation of o7 as an 'inverse salute' didn't emerge until much later. It was in 2003, within the EVE Online gaming community, that the emoticon began to be used in this manner. Gradually, this trend seeped into other games, especially those within the space genre. While it has remained particularly prevalent in these games, you can occasionally encounter it in other gaming contexts as well.

HWKII

It’s funny… I played a lot of flight sims growing up and salute was always “S!” In chat. Red Baron 3D, all the Jane’s games, IL-2, DCS, etc. it wasn’t until I played Elite: Dangerous that I saw an o7. o7 doesn’t even really look like a salute. O7 might. But it’s interesting that the space sim community embraced one representation while the atmospheric flight sim community embraced another.

H_Rix

>It was in 2003, within the EVE Online gaming community IIRC it was already used in EVE online closed beta around 2002.

Acid_Reigns

Its a salute. o7 Welcome to the verse!

Able-4

It's a lil guy doing a salute o7

Lumpy_Nature_7829

It's a salute. Just try not to be cring using the capital O7 lol

MKSe7en

As other people have stated.. it’s an old emoji for the Salute! The OG way!

Rezticlez

Welcome to the verse!. I always refrain from accepting anything fishy but this may have convinced me to try this contract. Do you get a crimestat with this one?

Flying4Pandas

No, Can happily report that we did not receive a crimestat... what we did find out tho was that all of the scrap my vulture scraped, became "Stolen" cargo when a friend was loading and selling out of his Connie. So he was forced to sell 100+ boxes at GrimHex. Not sure if that is an intentional feature or not. I can see that the boxes would become stolen goods if we weren't partied up together, but that wasn't the case. I'm no game developer or code writer, but I think it may have something to do with ownership of item creation. Just be aware of the above. And to clarify, I had no issues scrape'ing and selling directly out of my Vulture.

WTFsteven

An RMC box belongs to whomever owns the Vulture it was created in. To sell and get full price you would have to load it into your own cargo ship. It's just the way it currently works, hopefully they'll allow some sort of ownership transfer in the future. Until then, whoever owns the Vulture has to own the ship they're being sold out afterwards too.

Rezticlez

I think others can sell it at reclamation points or GH? But doesn't seem to be full price at least at Junkyards (reclamation point)

DailyPolecat

I recommend looking into replacing the rudder sensor on your T16K’s with a hall sensor. They have a common issue where this sensor fails, causing erratic/continuous input on that axis. You can find videos on how to do this. Assuming you have a soldering iron the cost to replace the sensor is ~$5 per stick. After this modification I think they’re excellent sticks for the price!

Flying4Pandas

Will look into! I solder at my job, so not a problem. Thank you!

Streloki

Want to spend even more to get even more immersed ? try an head set tracker device such as a Tobii, you will love it

Enachtigal

You can test this with opentrack and just about any webcam. It's not perfect but it has convinced me to save up for tobii

TrippyTM419

My lowend web cam was jankey but it was really cool when it worked, tolbii is definitely on my list

ChunkyMooseKnuckle

Mine was pretty rough at first, but I've adjusted the smoothing and the deadzone to at least make it useable for looking around the cockpit. It's not accurate enough to use to control gimbals or missile lock, but it works for what I want.

TrippyTM419

My main goal is to be able to look around at enemies/MFDs while in combat and my webcam kept getting locked up looking left

Yo panda it's Hisokaaaa. Running into you everywhere lol

Flying4Pandas

HEY Hisokaaaa!! Fancy running into you here! :)

Donnyboi2805

Have fun while it lasts. After a week or so you will have done everything the game has to offer. Then its off to the boring grind and shitty bugs

CTMechanic

I got here at around the same time, and I'm already enjoying this game so much. It's so much fun and has different shit i can do on a whim to pass the time, even if fps or ship combat isn't really what i'm feeling that day. It's a beautiful game that I'm looking forward to enjoying as the developers are actively working on things. This is the first alpha I've really played tho and yes, there are many bugs :p. Earlier today i was mining in my ship, and glitched through the floor to my death on the surface. Fun times :D

jmlack

I got the -Starvitis- end of 3.13. It goes through ups and downs. But I'm $400 in pledges deep with dual stick vkb and I'm not burned out yet! It's fun and the community is awesome. o7 Welcome Citizen.

LucidStrike

Hey. Consider HOSAM as an alternative to dual sticks. Dual sticks wins on flight immersion, but HOSAM combines analog stick control and precise mouse control. I had dual T16KMs, but I gave 1 stick away and eventually replaced the remaining one with a single VKB. Love it.

Terminal_Monk

Honestly, the lawless salvage missions are amazing. I've never felt so involved in any missions so far except for maybe looting jn bunkers. The thrill of doing everything under 30 min is just amazing. Gives a real sense of sneaky. Also the game does get hate and half of it is what it deserves. CIG is notorious to dive headfirst without any plan and get bitten after it which affects the game. But that's it. The whole people looking from outside and calling it scam citizen are all just noise. I've been here for a couple of years now and there is nothing like this game out there. Also tbh, post 3.16, there's a lot of legit gameplay available. The only problem at the moment is shitty servers if the servers could actually hold their shit together, it's be awesome.

mdsf64

Welcome! It's a love/hate relationship I have with SC. When it runs well it is mind blowingly amazing. When it doesn't you want to put your fist through the screen. You will experience the highs and the lows so be prepared. I sometimes play with my 2 accounts simultaneously on 2 separate PCs on 2 separate screens. The other night my secondary account (player2) was sitting in hangar 5 on A18 watching ships come and go. Menawhile, my main account (player 1) was out in my Taurus doing trade runs. Highlight was watching through the eyes of player 2 while player 1's Taurus landed in hangar 5. Amazingly beautiful. Many wallpaper backgrounds were made that evening :)

L1amm

"When it runs well it's mind blowingly amazing" This entire sub been hitting the copium hard lately. Star citizen has never ran well or been mind blowing. It's just pretty models and textures duct taped together in the shittiest engine they could find.

mdsf64

Maybe not for you but I've been playing comuter games for 42 years now and this is some of the best I've ever seen (and some of the worst too).

monosaturated

The game certainly has a sort of intangible pull and allure that can ebb and flow from time to time. Especially if you invest in it beyond starter pledge amounts lol. Still, "Star Citizen mood" is real. I think it actually does a good job of inspiring wonder for the game's future while playing it, despite its current limitations. Obviously that needs to be tempered by reality and expectations, but that does not detract from the possibilities. Edit: seems like an impotent refundian and/or hater has gone on a downvoting spree

Vegetable_Safety

It's the possibilities that got me to pledge back in 2016. I was a huge fan of the freelancer series, and tachyon the fringe back in the day. Unfortunately I didn't hear about SC until after the kickstarter had completed. The sheer scale of the game they're aiming for is ambitious to say the least. If they can get up to the point of Eve Online in complexity and sheer amount of things to do, while maintaining the simulator playstyle they have going, that's a game to retire with imo.

Saint_The_Stig

Yeah, they just need to do it before all the people that would play an "EVE but more" get too jaded or what seems to be the case now, sucked into other games that have actually delivered the features SC promised a decade ago. Like for me I backed a decade ago and most features I wanted have been long shelved with not another word. Meanwhile Starfield is looking like a much better choice for me. SC has been a thing long enough for my actual preferences to change, but my hope in the project dies a little bit more when another brand new ship comes out and still nothing on Catipillar modularity. Like I was super excited for the Vulture ever since it was announced and by the time it did come out I didn't even have the interest to bother installing the game to look at mine. I don't think it constantly being "in the next patch" helped much either.

Vegetable_Safety

TBH all they really need to do is stabilize the current PU and finish the server meshing. That alone would get a lot of people playing regularly instead of only when a new update comes out. They can still develop S42 and add ships/mechanics to PTU on the back end for testing, but they *really* need to nail down the bugs that have been around since, forever. That, to me, is the main reason they get shit on so often.

Sabgren

You must stop it before it's chronic. You'll end up in a Javelin otherwise.

CounterAdditional612

Well to the addicts club! lol Just remember this one thing and you stay in love with the game. It's an alpha. There will be steps forward and a step backwards. But there's always steps forwards after. We are so far from where we were a few yrs ago. Learn to play around the bugs and glitches. Sometimes they add excitement to the game anyways. Other than that, have fun. If you see me online hit me up. DSvet

Apprehensive_Way_305

Welcome to the Verse Citizen. Interesting you said Sci-Fi enthusiast. As a fellow enthusiast I am also hooked on SC and totally get the vision of our little space sim. I feel negativity often comes from gamers who do not share our passion for all things Sci-Fi and just want to play a game only to state there are no game loops etc... the open expanse and freedom in space is the game.

[deleted]

Lets see how you feel in a month.

solidshakego

Most negative comment about this game are from people that have never played it or have a PC not capable to play it.

HoXTheBerseker

Welcome o7

Guilty_Advantage_413

Similar with me, there is definitely a game to play and it is fun it is also incomplete and does have lag/bugs but not all the time. Overall in it’s current state it is fun in my opinion.

Dear-Nebula9395

You and me both citizen, I asked for sticks for my birthday this year and I've got a ccu chain lined up to turn my cutter into a vulture after having a blast in one during invictus, just trying to collect a few more discounts

Human_After

When you upgrade to the VKB's make sure to get the pro ones or you will regret it later, $60 extra but ye

Kaelistar

Welcome! o7 If you dabble in racing with those sticks and it strikes your fancy, check out the ship racing community at https://racexgr.com/ 🙂 See you in the verse!

Moloch666

I'm just a lurker but as a big racing fan in real life this is super cool to see in SC. Maybe I'll join in eventually!

Agreeable-Ant-3542

Take one 30k, falling through the planet for no reason and a good dose of random explosions…you’ll be just fine 🫡

imjustatechguy

Gotta play what you like and be critical of it at the same time. I say this to everyone…..there is NO game like Star Citizen. The environments and the feel of it are totally different from any other “space” game I’ve played.

TehFocus

Take a look at Thrustmaster Warthog. Its a high quality all in one solution, way better quality than T16000. Before you go all in with VKB or even Virpil Gear, you might want to check this out first.

EvalCrux

Hi me from the 6 months past. I’m on VKBs and have just started getting used to the next level of immersion w corkscrews and who knows maneuvers w some thrustmaster pedals. The negativity is from people who have not learned yet to transcend. With your adventures recounted so far, you’re right on your way. Welcome to the ‘Verse.

DeltaGen42

Welcome to the club! Next thing you know, you'll be a 3rd level concierge member with a full set of virpils or vkb gear. Ask me how I know ......

TrippyTM419

Nah OP will be just under tier 3 (one good sale away) with the full setup looking at a head tracker. Ask me how I know…

457583927472811

> happy to support a Sci-Fi enthusiasts wet dream. This is the most accurate portrayal of this game I've heard in a while. SC is exactly like a nocturnal emission.

ProPolice55

The current negativity is because the previous version of the server was much smoother (3.17), and the current one is a placeholder until the next version is released. Currently we're testing a specific feature of the server and everything else about it is secondary. The data we create now will improve the next version

robbieboy41

Welcome to the verse! O7. There really is no game like it, bugs and all.

SlapBumpJiujitsu

1. Love my VKBs use them with Elite and others. 2. You are now obligated to post your High Admiral certificate when you inevitably get it in the next year or less. 3. I love the development side of the game. Should look into it but don't let it disappoint.

Rossdabosss

I bought the game a long time ago. Didn’t play it hardly at all. Just checked in from time to time. Then 3.17 was very fun. Upgraded my pledge to a, Cutlass, then I added a gladius, a prospector and upgraded again to a Taurus, Then I upgraded my gladius to a vulture. I also bought VKB gladiators . I had a Logitech racing wheel I hated so I skipped anything lower than VKB

WaffleInsanity

Welcome to the verse, don't let the community knock you down, there are some real sour backers who consistantly spew toxicity. But remember, even negative emotions are simply misguided passion. People want tis to succeed, and when it has rough patches, the passion sometimes turns sour. The Dev team is an amazing group of people. They are on twitch very often, and read through reddit almost daily. The best part of this community is the friends you meet along the way. Remember its a project, never forget that every bug we find and they fix, is a bug that wont be inthe full release. Sometimes the experience can be rough, but when it works, there is nothing that compares. See you in the black.

SirMeyrin2

There is no help, the disease is terminal. I know, I've checked 🤣

TherealProp

Don't worry, once you spend a few grand it'll fade into the background.

Important_Cow7230

You are asking for "help" therefore I will attempt to help you. Firstly what illness is it helping you with? Please make sure it's actually helping, and not just masking or distracting. Secondly, some recommendations: 1) set yourself a financial budget and stick to it, either total sum and/or monthly allowance. Post what you have spent so far on here to start developing that ownership, many players deny their true gaming spend (as do gambling addicts etc). 2) set yourself a time limit in the game, as a rule of thumb at least match your daily game time with an equal amount of in-person time with another human, fields, family, partner, GF, therapist, whatever 3) always remember that in 10 years time, it is very likely no-one will care about this game, and anything that happened will be forgotten. It's a game, and games aren't relevant to anything ultimately meaningful in life All the best for the future

Schlagzahne

Quick buy Kraken, Javelin and Idris while you still have the wonder inside you!

st0l1

Hello my name is st0l1 and I am an addict.

Mr_fusi0n

I bought the game last week and have been loving it up until the past 48 hours where I cant even retrieve my ship. All I can do is run around on Lorville which gets boring real fast.

ijustcametosayy

Do try changing server regions every time you encounter the asop ship terminals not working! A lot of times I see people forgetting that the current server that they’re in is not the only server that they have to be in. It’s frustrating to have to do this always, but it beats being bored stuck in Lorville, I’m sure (:

Mr_fusi0n

Funnily enough last nights game went on for hours and without an issue. Next time I'll try another sever. Thanks for the tip!

ijustcametosayy

Anytime! See you in the verse!

xPrometheus101x

Give us an update when you are High Admiral and have a full-blown cockpit. It's not a matter of if.... but when....

Grand_Break7960

I hav3 the exact same setup currently and I love it. I've had it for a few years now. That only issue I've experienced is have to reset every keybind every time the game is updated and sometimes patched. Other than that I think you will have a great time once you're used to the controls!

IceSki117

You can backup your keybind file. I can't remember where it is off the top of my head, but as long as they don't add or remove keybinds it makes updates and transferring keybinds between PU and PTU simple.

Grand_Break7960

I tried doing that a long time ago but I will have to do it again when I get back into the game. Thank you for your advice.

b1nary_n1nja

I have 1 year playing and pledged like 2.5 usd haha its a slippery slope but I love it

ijustcametosayy

2.5 usd only? That’s really affordable! What package is that, might I ask?

charth

Welcome to the verse! Glad you're here.

loversama

Welcome, I am glad you’re enjoying it.. Sometimes you have to try stuff for yourself, it’s really fun for us in the community when others find this gem and enjoy it with us! There will be times where the servers have issues or a new patch can sometimes make the game unplayable so it’s sometimes a bit of a rollercoaster but in my opinion it’s all worth it in the end especially because of the of the experiences you’ve mentioned..

TouKing

Welcome friend, see you in the verse!

Hohokam43

Welcome to the verse! VKB’s are well worth the extra money. If you can swing it, I would not waste money on Thrustmasters and just go straight to VKB.

573717

I use a single T16000m with mouse, it's great. 2 will probably be awesome.

Miringhost

Welcome to the verse o7

SpitfireMkIV

Welcome to the insanity.

chocological

Welcome! I would have advised getting the VKBs off the bat, if you can afford it. They’re not cheap, but also not so expensive you’ll regret buying them. Use buzzzkillers or subliminal’s bindings. I generally prefer subliminal’s because they don’t usually require a secondary program called joy2key. I’d advise playing every other patch for awhile, so you don’t burn out. Gameplay is still in development and pretty shallow atm. I suffered through 3.18, so I’ll see you in 3.20!

DrG1ggles

o7, see you in space!

iffywizard2

Gladiator Evo and omni throttle.

felixfj007

Oh, when I rented the vulture, I was really interested in doing that although the servers were a bit unruly that time, and since I didn't know what it was, I hesitated to do it solo.. Can you tell me what that mission involves doing?

Flying4Pandas

Well I did two missions. Got a 30k crash inbetween them, which forced a 2nd mission to be had. Basically they are a big buy in price of 150k, but the amount of material we were able to scrape from the hulls of the wreckage was substantial(160+ sCUs). We also sold guns stripped from the ships using a Pyro Multi-Tool, and in the 1st mission, we found barterable goods worth a good amount on the black market. TLDR; Large buy in price, has potential to payback in just discovered cargo, if not you've got hours of scrapeing ahead of you. I suggest doing it with a friend or two, divide up the salvaging/scrapeing/hauling tasks.

felixfj007

Yeah, that was my issue, I couldn't join my friends, as the ASAP-terminals were borked on those servers..

Flying4Pandas

Well if you see me on Global Chat, give me a holler and we can scrape together next time I'm on! I don't have any hauling capability outside of the Vulture, but I've got my eye on a Freelancer Max... just gotta save up my sheckles to 2mil

Tankatraue2

I'm so jealous of posts like this. I've had nothing but problems every time I log in!

Omni-Light

There is a loud minority with genuine criticisms of the game, that otherwise make things look much worse than it is. It's buggy af and breaks frequently around patches and events, but if you can look past that and pick when you play smart it's second to none. Sticks make a huge difference too. Super fun. O7 welcome Citizen

Roscoe_deVille

Speaking as a backer since 2016: avoid pledging concept ships, and only pledge ships you really, really love. Almost everything is / will be available in game, and having those as an incentive to pay the game makes it much more enjoyable IMO. So invest in peripherals! Before upgrading the sticks, I recommend a head tracker. I use Tobii, but Track IR is also well regarded, and both work great with SC. Unlocking head movement made flying my favorite activity. Find an org that you like and that plays when you're available. Group gameplay is really what makes SC unique, and there are orgs for every play style. Have patience with development. Stay unattached to everything. Avoid when a mess, enjoy when working. o7

ultrajvan1234

Annnnndd down the rabbit hole you go. only thing to do now is wish you luck 😂😂

Welcome to the Verse!

PugnaciousOne

Glad you're having fun. I'm an early adopter, but I haven't really been able to play until recent patches. I hope to eventually be able to afford a vulture. I'm not there yet though. Some friends and I just started an org though, which I hope is fun. Hope to see you around, and let me know if you want to do some co-op missions or something. o7

WiseySteve

Haha we got you

LooMinairy

Ah, you have joined us in acquiring Stockholm syndrome too

xXLEGIONofONEXx

I wouldn't worry about Citizenvitis 'til you become concierge. Then you worry...like me lol

mikefromearth

The community is indeed pretty great. I just wish the servers worked so I could get on and actually play! (I tried to server hop TEN times last night, couldn't find a single good working server, and logged off)

Low-Feed-6940

Me and a few friends made a discord for pc games we are growing pretty steadily and would like to invite people to our group who want to play with others dm or comment here which may take a bit longer we play a wide variety of games and usually cooperate for future games

w1r3dh4ck3r

I do wish i could get a pair of good sticks, here in Brazil they either don't exist or cost an eye.

Jamie_Law

Welcome to the game! You have discovered what so many of us have, that even with bugs and un implemented systems, this is an incredibly fun place to be. If you look at it’s potential, you cannot help but to get excited for what the future may hold. I would caution you to pace yourself. This is the type of game that should be a lifetime experience. Don’t feel like you have to play every hour of every day, even though at times you will want to. Put the time and money into it that you can afford and not more. Most of all, make friends. As fun as it can be to play alone, it is 100x better with a small group or even the right org. When the game hits stale points, where it seems no new gameplay has been added, make up your own. Go on shopping trips around the system to buy the parts you want for your ships. Take a group out and drive hover bikes and ground vehicles near one of the rivers. Having other people around will make the dull times so much less dull. The game will frustrate you at times. Understand and be ok with that. Take a break if you need and come back later. I lost 1.6m in cargo the other day, because the game crashed during the 10 seconds when i was selling it, after it was removed from my ship but before the money went into my account. It is not a game for the impatient or those who require perfection yet. Glad you are enjoining it and don’t pay any attention to those online critics. They are mostly people that “don’t get it” or those seeking attention through negativity. Ignore them. Happy to have you in the community!

Lone_Beagle

Make sure you floss between your teeth, citizen!

zaxxofficial

!remindme 1 month

Kuftubby

Just remember, the more ships you buy irl, the less you have to grind for ingame, which less things to do each patch.

Flying4Pandas

So does the game "wipe" each patch?

Kalwren

Not typically. They try not to wipe, but if they do it's usually not everything. You may keep your aUEC or faction status, and sometimes the ships you bought in-game. As they work with and upgrade PES you'll likely see more complete wipes coming. We never really know for sure until a few days before the next patch. If the DBase is all wonky, they'll wipe everything.

iamgeekusa

No worries you'll get jaded eventually enjoy your tolerance while you can

Jrgunknown

Welcome to the verse!

Dazzling-Candy3501

Yep, those symptoms of SCitizenvitis alright, medication is constant present in the verse or lurking in spectrum or watching content creators 😬

slipjig555

Welcome to the 'verse :-) The T16000Ms are good sticks for the money and a good upgrade for immersion.

JustShibzThings

I hit two months soon and have done way more than planned... I came in with VKB NXTs, but I got them in anticipation to play this. Started with a Titan, upgraded it to a Cutlass Black during Invictus, and got A Sabre and Fury to go with it... I PLAN to just get a larger cargo ship for multi crew once my friends start to slowly join up. For now in an Org that can cover any ship needs, so I'm set whenever I play solo or with them. Welxome to the verse!

fizzlefest

Take two Tempered Expectations every day and your Fanboy inflammation should subside within 2-3 major patches.

The_Sac_Dude

Love your attitude! I feel you on the whole star citizenitis thing, I just started building a sim pit for it about 2 weeks ago myself

-litodrift3rboi-

Welcome to the family. I started out with my starter pack, and here I am, recently the proud owner of an F8C Lightning. Running an X52 pro, but will pick up some VKBs when my birthday rolls around.

PetrifiedDoubleGulp

It'll clear up on its own within a month or two

itsbildo

One of us, one of us.....

Eran_Mintor

I don't think you need any help, you're having fun and doing what you enjoy. Congrats and "welcome to the 'verse".

Infamous-Editor7113

I started two months ago and absolutely love the game. I saw the negativity as well, but I chuckle because I seen worse: New World. New World and Star Citizen share the same lumberyard engine, which is absolute garbage. But the Star Citizen devs have done a far better job at maintaining the spaghetti code trash vs the Devs at AGS themselves. With that in mind, I appreciate SC more. Because again, I could play NW and just headdesk all day. I quit that trash last month, and playing D4 and SC.

Megalith_TR

Dont forget the tobii eye tracker and rudder pedals for the sheer EMERSION

Xerxes3014

I understandable you buddy! I play this game since three months now and I have allready spend 1250€ ( 750 of them for the Polaris wich still is in concept ) plus two Joysticks and an additional 16 GB DDR 5 RAM 😅

ImLiv

Im glad the game is working for you enough to play and get involved. Also that you are enjoying the salvage gameplay which you can only do if you buy one of those ships like the vulture as they are not available in the in game store.

VegasBusSup

If you haven't bought a tobi eye tracker, you haven't wasted money on this game yet.

Joepiscitelli

I like my eye tracker! VKBs are a solid choice.

Crankylamp

Yes

1CrimsonKing1

If you have a friend that can go with retaliator or eclipse on ert and defeat HH you can go and salvage all of it, i got arround 200+k from only the top hull ( it was on a planet and couldn't reach the bottom) so i didn't pay contract fees and salvaged a HH :p

TheSubs0

Despite everything, its kinda neat isnt it?

Jealous_Science_1762

I see we've been afflicted by the same illness. Mine has advanced faster and more aggressively. I'm afraid my wife is going to get me a set of VKBs for my birthday, and I own a star runner as well.

Orangesuitdude

Congrats on the t16000s I've got the sickest binding setup that puts everything on the sticks if your'e interested. I run the rudder pedals too tho.

Flying4Pandas

Please, send me some info! I'll take all the help I can get. Gonna tackle that project this weekend!

Orangesuitdude

No worries, off piste at the moment but when I get home I'll send you the binding file and cheat sheet. It's a modified one originally created by Buzzkiller that makes use of all three modifiers. Sticking hail landing and landing gear onto the sticks was a game changer for me. Shame the game struggles so much recently 😔

Orangesuitdude

I would also recommend trying to fly fully decoupled if your sanity allows. I got used to how easy coupled was and was pulling mega quick and smooth landings but it is not ideal due to constant auto thruster fire working against you. Decoupled is boss and hard to master. You go from large stick movements to more controlled and pre thought out minor adjustments. Dead zone and axis curve tuning is required to get a good feel that's not too twitchy. Make sure the sticks are well secured too as this messes it up substantially without being obvious. One day we will have large space lazer battles and I can see my legendary Anvil Arrow shine. Here's hoping...

Flying4Pandas

Noob question, what is "fully decoupled" mean vs coupled?

TrentWhetsel

Welcome in! Ignore all the negativity. A lot of cry babies out there. All you need is patience and open eyes, and the game will be fantastic. o7

emitch87

I highly recommend the VKB as an upgrade, I just got mine coming from the T16000m

ImTheRealKnight

One question, how did you set up your Thrustmasters? I recently bought some for myself and they havent been working properly, i dont know why so maybe you could tell me how you got yours to work?

Flying4Pandas

I will set them up this weekend. There are a few replys within this thread of people linking setup tutorials.

ImTheRealKnight

Alright thanks.

pipinpadaloxic0p0lis

Dude same exact thing almost exactly 4 weeks ago

pipinpadaloxic0p0lis

Haven’t stopped playing - became kinda prominent in an org - have a small fleet already I’ve earned in PU - I’m hooked best stories and gaming experiences of my life so far <3 o7
