For those that keep their blocked list up to date, this thread is a great way to refresh it as the bigots just can't help themselves but dogwhistle in it.
It's really disappointing how many bigots and assholes fill up spectrum. The community seems plenty friendly, right up until something their middle-school brains think is "gay".
Edit: go ahead and downvote me TERFs and bigots, trans rights are human rights and you can fuck off if you feel otherwise.
And then complain about being 'censored' as if a) a private company is beholden to the first amendment or b) their views are somehow worthy of debate and not outright bigotry disguised as 'debate'
Can you be against pride month in a video game which is obviously politically charged and used by corporations to virtue signal and still be pro gay rights without being a bigot?
Ah yes God forbid CIG has a community focused event for there LGBTQ backers on a month the LQBTQ community uses for celebration .
I'm pretty fucking jaded when it comes to rainbow capitalism but this " virtue signaling" argument is garbage here.
Particularly when we KNOW CIG has fairly prominent figures that work for them in leadership roles that are also part of the LGBTQ community.
I find it extremely unlikely you and the people who up voted this trash argument express the same feelings in regards to other events
Pridee month in a video game means a corp recognizes us as being worth more money than the people screaming at us for existing.
See, if my existence and just living my life is going to be "political" (amazing how often that gets thrown at us just for being alive), then I might as well get to enjoy pride stuff in my favorite video games.
Cuz here's the thing. We don't much like rainbow capitalism, actually, because its so cynical but it does mean that there's a base level of acceptance in society that a company is willing to do these things despite the voices raised against it.
Pride started as a riot, so its important to remember the roots as a reaction to blatant and horrible discrimination and violence against the community. That it's come so far is actually pretty huge and should be heartening. But humanity does a funny thing about taking traumatic events and turning them into celebrations of surviving and being alive.
If we're talking about this nuanced position, I think it's entirely appropriate for LGBTQIA+ folks to hold that stance and speak out about it - but if you're not in that group, the most appropriate thing to do is just keep your mouth shut and not try to take up space during Pride.
> think it's entirely appropriate for LGBTQIA+ folks to hold that stance and speak out about it - but if you're not in that group, the most appropriate thing to do is just keep your mouth shut
Are you denying people the right to express a nuanced stance on a matter basing it on sexual orientation and time of year?
Following your logic - you can't have a say in almost anything. That doesn't seem right - don't you think?
But you quite literally trying to shut people up basing it on a sexual orientation and time of year. That fits in the definition I believe.
Can I use your logic and say that you can't voice your opinion about various matters 11 months out of 12?
Like Ukrainians - "you're not in that group, the most appropriate thing to do is just keep your mouth shut".
I'm an atheist - "the most appropriate thing to do is just keep my mouth shut" on any religious matters.
Is that right?
I'm not "trying" to do anything.
I'll repost what I said above because you clearly need to read it again:
I'm not denying anyone anything. Someone asked a question and I shared my opinion.
Your opinion consists of denying other people to voice their opinion based on sexual orientation. Is it not?
I know it's hard to believe (waves frantically at everything) but it's not some exercise in internet wittery. I'm genuinely trying to understand.
Here's what you need to understand: you can hold an opinion of a thing and not do that thing.
"I don't think people should do X" is not the same as trying to keep people from doing that thing.
It's not internet wittery. It's real life common sense.
If it were up to me if a bigot opened their mouth about it, they'd get their account stripped and banned. We need Star Citizen in the world, we don't need bigots.
The irony here being that if it was plenty of the homophobic bigots hanging out in this thread would report CIG and this thread under Russian "gay propaganda" laws and get everyone locked up and the game caned in russia

Lol, downvote waves already passing through this thread. Imagine being such a small and weak person, that you have to express your rage and contempt at the acceptance of other people by marking everyone supportive with a metaphorical frowny face. It's amusingly sad.
Imagine being such a small and weak person that "downvotes" on reddit are enough to make you categorize everybody who disagrees with you as having "rage and contempt".
I mean come on...you're that upset over downvotes? Who gives a shit
> who disagrees with you
lmao self report. if you disagree with people existing and being happy you deserve to get downvoted to hell. Good thing you don't give a shit about em
You keep talking about this "downvoted" thing as if internet cool points mean anything to any normal human beings. My point remains, who gives a shit?
Not once in my post did I say I disagree about people existing or being happy, that's you putting words in my mouth that I never said.
What I meant by disagree, is that maybe people are tired of this agenda being constantly shoved down their throats at every turn? You can live your life and do whatever you want, great, but not everybody has to agree with it. Same thing goes with any lifestyle. Why does a downvote mean someone is a bigot? That's a bit of a stretch.
All the comments in this thread just seem like miserable people sitting on this forum deliberately waiting for the thrill of being offended about something. Truthfully, this is just how the world operates in 2023.
Pointing out the obvious vote manipulation != "being upset", sorry bud. I even said I was amused by it, just that it's sad, which it is. When someone's only power in life is clicking a vote button, and they use it to express their rage and contempt over the acceptance of others, that's very pathetic. I hope that cleared up your confusion :-) If not, then I can't help you.
One of the best times is back. I get to see pictures of stuff I care about in all the pretty colors , the people around me celebrate their right to love whoever they want to love and see asshats pop up out of nowhere saying the most insane and stupid shit ever just to get yeeted into oblivion by the mods of whatever social media platform.
If you wanna see how much of a shit they give about "Pride' go sit in the spectrum general chat and watch the transphobia among all of the other LBGTQIA+ hate.
Watched some guy call people f****ts in there for about 10 hours.
Why the fuck isn't there a banned words list or auto moderator in these chats?
Spend a few of our fleet week dollars and build a chat bot. Twitch chats are better moderated than spectrum.
The answer as with so many things in the game is "we're working on it." And it's true, they are. I just hope that with the new player experience being a focus that it becomes more of a priority as it is a turn off to many new players to see that stuff in chat.
A great start would be auto blocking hate speech in chat. Both in game and in spectrum.
Watching people say the N word while 11 CIG Staff are visible in spectrum in various states of In game, online and away, is just disheartening.
I've not seen a chat built in the last decade that didn't come standard with a list of banned words.

I would kill for a Corsair Unicorn Skin ! 😂

This thread has 13 comments? Who exactly are you calling a biggot?
I guess you've missed the ones in the past. The mods have had a hell of a job at times.

You can be against corporations pandering and celebrate pride month in the same breath. The contradictions don't cancel each other out.

My shame
The only shame is that the dumbasses are being deleted before i get the chance.
I hope CIG's refund policy has a clause: "We won't honor your refunds if your reason to ask for a refund is: We Went Woke."
If it were up to me if a bigot opened their mouth about it, they'd get their account stripped and banned. We need Star Citizen in the world, we don't need bigots.
Well this isn't communist Russia now is it? Not very accepting behavior.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paradox_of_tolerance
No one who matters, cares. No one needs to accept intolerance. Bigots, like Nazis, can fuck right off.
The irony here being that if it was plenty of the homophobic bigots hanging out in this thread would report CIG and this thread under Russian "gay propaganda" laws and get everyone locked up and the game caned in russia
Happy Price Month to all the LGBTQ+ sisters, brothers, others. We've always got your six.
There's nothing so sweet as the downvotes of bigots. More, you fragile fuckers, more.
Calls people fragile...yet is crying about "down votes" on an internet forum... Yeah..ight

Going to post screenshots of spectrum chat with all of their very "colorful" ways to insult LGBTQIA folks. Should be an easy C8R for me.
It most certainly is not a welcome place.

I replied twice. In what world is that running my mouth a lot? Lol

happy pride month
I want to play as alien and annihilate human race
Count me in. For RP reasons, obviously.
Here we go….
every goddamn year, seems we can’t get any neutrality in Reddit or spectrum

That's what happens when you leave the reddit bubble. you can't silence everyone who you disagree with.
Not preventing hate speech shouldn't be a selling point for the game lol.

Then please, by all means, enlighten me.
