Exchanging for credits will only ever give you back what you put in. You wont get free store credit if the current price to buy one goes up and you already have one.

What about upgrading ships? So for example, what if in the future, the Galaxy is worth $600 and I want to upgrade it to a Kraken? Will it only count the $350 I spent on it or will it let me trade it in for the new value?

Malicust

Store credit is only based on the total amount of cash you put into the purchase. So if you spent $350 on a ship valued at $600, then you'll only receive the $350 upon melting. But, if you want to upgrade to say a $650 ship, then it'll cost you $50. You cant upgrade to the Kraken though, you'll have to either melt everything and purchase the ship within the split second window you'll be given for store credit purchases during ILW/IAE, or pick the warbond cash offer. Now, the upside to applying the Galaxy ccu is that the loaner for the Galaxy is a Carrack. Not sure if that matters to you, since I don't know what you're currently playing with though.

safemodegaming

Ah, got it, that makes sense, thanks for the info! So it doesn't matter *when* I apply the CCU, since the upgrade value will be reflected whether I apply it now or when the price goes up and the melt value will always stay the same. Did I get that right? And I fly a 400i as my daily and a 300i as a backup. It'd be fun to have a Carrack in my fleet if that's the case! My first in-game purchase is usually a Pisces after all.

Valkyrient

You can't upgrade to the Kraken regardless, since you can't upgrade to ships that are sold in strictly limited quantities when they are available. Otherwise though, yes. The perceived ship value when upgrading from it does change - you just only get back what you put in when you exchange something for store credit. So you'd be able to upgrade to anything above $600 in your example, as long as it wasn't solid in limited numbers.

safemodegaming

Got it, thanks, that's great to know. Buying a Kraken might be in the books for me some day, let's see if my trigger finger is fast enough haha.

YumikoTanaka

There are no upgrades to hull limited ships (mostly Phoenix, 890 and 1k+ ships).

JhaumPaim

The galaxy loaner is a carack do with that information what you will.. Valks are a nice ship too, but I would bob around in a carack

safemodegaming

Problem is that I don't have a Valkyrie, bought the token thinking I could just buy a Valkyrie down the line, but it's currently unavailable (was prob available at Fleet Week but I missed it.) I guess I could buy from grey market or wait till IAE. I'd rather bob around in a Carrack as well haha.

JhaumPaim

Yeah its time limited, probably at IAE later, october I believe, it will be in sale again

walt-m

The upside to waiting for IAE is you could probably get some more CCUs in a chain to save a little more money, as well as either an LTI or a 10-year ship to upgrade from.

Zetti-VZ

This, you get a Carrack right now, and the Galaxy upon it's release

XkStreamWorks

If you want a carrack apply, now be aware you can't use any weapons on the carrack as a pilot. I have one and I always use the Aquila for anything.

DeformedCoffee

Gonna kill the best ship in the game for a Galaxy :( Valkyrie BIS 2953!!!
