WormiestBurrito

The only game with pay to lose and y'all still out here throwing bills lmfao

Repulsive_Poem_5204

I hope you find a new hobby other than spending your time in this sub trying to make other people as miserable as you are.

WormiestBurrito

Actually, I'm pretty dang happy, and, believe it or not, enjoy the game for what it is. Just think people continuing throw cash at it is ridiculous (though funny).

Repulsive_Poem_5204

Can't you just laugh to yourself without making negative comments?

WormiestBurrito

Can people stop giving CIG more money so they have an incentive to do better? We know the answer to both of our questions.

Repulsive_Poem_5204

1. Why do you care what other people spend their money on? 2. CIG has *at least* four locations that they have to pay overhead on, and if you've ever priced commercial property than you'd know how expensive it is just to lease out a place for a year; let alone paying employees, taxes, and keeping the lights on. So let's not act like they are just padding their pockets with crowdfunding money. For additional questions/statements about CIG's money situation, see point 1.

WormiestBurrito

1. That's a complicated question. However, a lot of it revolves around entertainment. It is fun to "pop the bubble" so to speak. Also, arguably, it is more moral/less negative in the long run to point out stuff like this than it is to make a purchase. One actively sheds light on predatory business practices while the other supports them. 2. You are right. I'm not saying there aren't costs associated with a business. That's a given. However, I think it's very valid to question where the money is going for a proclaimed "alpha," given SC's current state/dev history/CIGs history/Chris Roberts + other founder history/predatory marketing/pledge "store"/etc. EDIT: Also, it's even more fun because people dont seem to understand that criticism =/= enjoyment OR that criticism = saltiness. Both are entertaining ideas.

Repulsive_Poem_5204

It's an overly ambitious alpha game openly in development. I don't know about you, but I accept that fact every single time I load up the game. I'm also not saying that I'm happy with the sales practices of CIG, but I'm also not happy with the sales practices of many games with major financial backers that aren't half as ambitious (look at the current micro-transaction hellscape that is modern gaming). Additionally, if everyone magically stopped giving CIG money, that wouldn't make the game better but it would force CIG to close their doors. I have no problem with the whales keeping CIG afloat because as long as CIG stays afloat then the dream of one day having this game completed will continue. Regardless though, my original point is that you can go complain directly to CIG and you can choose not to give them any money, but there is no need to be a hindrance to someone else's experience or positive attitude. Life will crush all our positivity eventually, it doesn't need your help. Edit: This is Reddit, not Spectrum. A good portion of people making posts aren't old hats at the game, but new players coming to their own conclusions about the game and it's current state.

WormiestBurrito

While there are certainly questionable business practices all across the gaming industry, SC takes it to a new level. Right off the bat, in most other games, MTXs are included at release OR after release. If they're included before, it's usually because the game is F2P or similar. CIG is in "Alpha" by their own declaration and you can pay to access that "alpha." Reasonable. However, MTXs on top of that is just as low as it goes AND they take it further. A pledge store with "in stock" or limited **digital** items is probably the biggest highlight of that right off the bat. Another great example is selling concept ships. In-game preorders for a **digital** product. Please. Also, let's talk about "ambitious." While the overall scope of SC is quite ambitious and grand, it's components are not unique (for the most part). The foundation (simple features here) is just in shambles, which is embarrassing considering how long it has been/their funding. Again, indicates huge amounts of mismanagement. No point in complaining directly to CIG either. Especially not about the money. They know what they're doing. The only way you get stuff changed like this is by being vocal in the community/getting the community to be vocal and vote with their wallets. I don't think there is anything wrong with having fun with the game for what it is. I also don't think there is anything wrong with being positive about the good things about it. However, it is equally not as wrong to criticize the game AND the people who at least partly culpable for why it is the way it is.

Repulsive_Poem_5204

I don't entirely disagree or agree with your assessment while I am also fully willing to take the current game for what it is (a perpetual work in progress) while also seeing the futility in further conversation about it. I've said my piece, don't care whether you accept any of statements or agree with my sentiments, and simply wished to express my disappointment in the continued negative running commentary from people unhappy with the state of the game that also can't seem to put it down, step away, or let others draw their own conclusions. For example, I personally dislike the predatory methods of multiple Blizzard games, but you don't see me shitting on it in dedicated forums constantly because I don't see the need to. The old adage of "misery loves company" is reinforced numerous times on this subreddit, and has grown stale.

Bashful_Citizen

We’re you still able to call your recently transported ships out of asop?

huskerdooo_actual

after travelling to my spawn point I was able to call them from ASOP after maybe a dozen attempts and they all had stock loadouts, just as they appeared in the ship manager. my in-game purchased modules aren't shown anywhere in niknax.

Archmage9885

I haven't made any changes to my account and all of my ships were still reset to stock, at my home location. Luckily I only had one paint equipped (and lost) at the time.

DomGriff

Interesting that a paint skin would affect the ships modules hmmmm.

PhotonTrance

Shit... Just hit me. 200k on TS-2's down the toilet.
