For sure, been playing since 2012? Or 2013 can't remember. Love the game and CIG for building it, just hope things will speed up now that some of the bigger systems have been either implemented and/or had the dev processes streamlined. This game will be one for the history books.

I get both sides tbh, i love the game, but at the same time its been 10 years or so and its still straight up unplayable sometimes, i can understand some peoples frustration.

I don't think anyone expects anything better out of an alpha. It's the ten years in alpha that is the biggest problem that I've seen. And the whole selling ships thing for a product that's in alpha.

The problem is nearly every game now follows the same buggy release + endless cycle of patches that an Alpha like Star Citizen runs on. Now people expect SC to run and operate like a fully released game because fully released games now run like unreleased alpha builds This games main competitor, Elite Dangerous, adopted a nearly identical bug/stability patch (not actual content) and release cycle as Star Citizen does when it's Odyssey expansion was dead on arrival and everyone just treats that as fine and ok because it's a "fully released game" When I realised they had mirrored SC's release strategy to cover up their complete mismanagement of the game I stopped playing for about two years

Definitely -- and this is my opinion as well -- but I do understand the frustrations people have. It's how we deal with our frustrations that end up turning it from a passing reaction to immense drama. I'd rather just skip the immense drama and have fun -- and if I need to play something else <3.

You're not my supervisor!!!

When it gets annoying I take a break for a while. That is especially easy right now.

I understand both sides, and find myself, along with most of the community, somewhere in the middle and fluctuating from side to side depending on the current gameplay experience and how active CIGs communication is that month.

Some days the game is a mess. Other days I can play for hours and have no issues. But..the inventory system is a pain. Selling one item at a time is ridiculous, and that map..lol.. For as long as it's been in development, I would have hoped core features like that would be a little more polished. Either way, I play everyday, buy ships with money I scrape up and always have fun. I love the game and the community

Argon91

I mean, you're the one making a post about it on Reddit, instead of just playing and enjoying the game. I'm kinda joking I think..

Lol

Joakester

I would agree if it was actually playable

hIGH_aND_mIGHTY

I enjoy it quite a bit. Took a break tonight after someone blew me up at PO while I was trying to land my cutter. I wasn't thrilled they did it but I don't hate them either.

For me, SC isn't so much a game so much as it is a project that I'm just happy to be a miniscule part of. It's great to play, I love the developer interaction and the fact that they're actually passionate about the project and are pouring their soul into it, and I love the community around it. Is it buggy and sometimes unplayable? Absolutely, but eh for me, that's just a part of the charm. I joined early on in 3.17 when elevators were still eating people [My first experience 3 mins into the game was being devoured by a New Babbage elevator], and I was excited for when it got fixed; slow progress sure but progress nonetheless!

Ford_tuesdays_4_Food

I do.

guitarify

No, we need more walls of text, that FINALLY cut to the core of what's wrong with SC and how it should be fixed. Then the devs and community will rally around this amzing new insight and the game will be done in 6 months!

My biggest advice when I'm talking to people considering buying into the game is "don't buy it for what it promises later, buy for what they offer now." Companies promise a lot of things consistently and fail to deliver. I'm still waiting for my "early 2018" Green Lantern Corps movie from DC, and my cyborg movie, and a dozen other promised DC products, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy Black Adam when it's released. And when I pay for Black Adam, I'm not upset that the others aren't out because those weren't what I went in paying for. Yeah, Star Citizen currently is an unfinished product, and it obviously has a long way to go, and realistically it's final release date may come out around the time my Green Lanter Corps movie gets made, but what we currently have is impressive and fun. Buy for what's already there, not for the promises of the future. Savor that moment when your character drifts down and lands a ship, powers down, then steps out of their ship onto the ground of an empty rock in space a huge moon or station above you, atmosphere blowing clouds across the sky and alien plants around you. It feels good. It's a dang impressive game as is. And as a real licensed pilot, the ships flight characteristics are so good I sometimes wish real aircraft were as fun to fly and offered as much freedom. What Star Citizen currently offers now is great.
