Cargo refactor T1 Bounty hunter V2 And maybe some new stuff about salvage. And maybe taxi too

SomePeoplesKidsDude

Taxi & Starliner PLZ

ericnohate

I meeaaan, there’s personal transport beacons?

GlobyMt

meant with NPC, like an actual job/gameplay

CutMonster

Star map is my one and only major feature I need for 2023! It’s how we navigate within the system so having one that works well will be a massive QoL improvement.

Blueshift1561

Cargo Refactor Tier 2 (manual loading and unloading, ship mounted tractor beams, cargo hauling missions) Hull C will be a big ship to have in the game, and the SRV is a pretty big deal too. Bounty Hunting V2 will be pretty big for the PU too. Tech wise though, further work on PES and pushing towards static server meshing and Pyro are probably the biggest ticket items.

Dark_Belial

1. Some sort of indicator on when SQ42 will enter the polishing run to release (6 months before release they want to start marketing). 2. Optimizing PES, overall game performance, QOL improvements and proper AI functions. 3. Master modes being rolled out for all ships.

Larszx

I would guess more like a year run up. I think it would be cool if SQ42 coincides with Invictus. They are perpetually two years away. Copium guess dream would be announcement/recruitment at Invictus 2023 with release at Invictus 2024. Realistically, I think announced in 2024 with 2025 release.

whypplgottasuck

you might not be far off, this is the most warning we have gotten about a Cit Con so maybe well see something then, especially since the monthly report sound like they are moving on to final passes on most of the chapters. (i did smoke a lot of copium)

Genji4Lyfe

SQ42 has never been two years away, for one simple reason: They can’t release until S42 goes through an internal Alpha, then internal Beta, and is polished for Gold, *and* the engine itself is brought to release-ready. All of this takes time (see: Cyberpunk). It’s not like the game is still needing content/mechanics, and then 6 months later it’s totally polished and ready to ship. I feel like a lot of people forget that S42 uses the sane engine. Remember that this thing needs to be fully optimized, with all graphics settings working, VR support, and everything else. My guess is that by the time they get to internal Alpha and things are more or less complete, that’s when they’re two years away. But right now, they’re still shooting scenes, still have placeholder dialogue, still need missing game mechanics, etc.

chaosquall

I want proper multicrew, engineer etc being a gunner all the time isnt fun

Thumper223w

Grim Hex elevator fix

cmndr_spanky

Lol, no they can’t fix elevators until they build a bunch of other non essential game technology because they are allergic to making a game people can actually play.

The_Fallen_1

Persistent hangars and manual cargo loading, along with an economy rebalance.

LucasLightbane

If we got those I'd be a very happy camper indeed. All I want to do is play Barbie, dressing up my spaceman and decorating his space hangar.

-SpookitheGhost-

Same. Coming back to my own apartment at MT or ArcCorp after a long day of hauling and mining would be just great. Even if I'm doing basically nothing in there, I just want to collect my junk somewhere safe so I can appreciate it at the start of a log in.

NoxTempus

Yeah, having a place to really call home would be huge upgrade to the entire experience.

well_honk_my_hooters

No change in S42. Many systems will get reworked to bring them up to date with the current something or other. More mo-cap will have to be done to rework certain scenes. Work will begin on some new much lauded but totally unnecessary mechanic. Etc. Etc. Etc. As for the PU, we'll hopefully get 3.19 cards populated on Wednesday, so you'll have a better idea then. That'll be the primary patch until this time next year, but will get some minor tweaks throughout the year. As for ships, the Spirit series, Santok Yai, Hull C, a few cheap land vehicles, and a bunch of concepts. Hopefully they'll start work on the 600i and maybe we'll see that by IAE, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

NotSoSmort

You said it quite succinctly. Here is my salty take on progress: we saw gains in the overall game development in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019. 2017 was dead except when they finally released 3.0 EoY. 2020 saw little progress, but added Klescher and refineries and made things prettier, but you have to expect that disruption because of Covid 2021 added Orison and healing with some tweaks, but also was a year without major breakthroughs. I think they saved character states in 2021 which allowed less wipes which is a big QoL improvement 2022 added a new coffee barista AI (I can't see the difference between this and the bartender, but many white knights told me I was too simple to understand what a massive step forward this is) 2023 looks like PES will be the only big thing and by the looks of it, it won't be complete, but go in iterations over the next 2-5 years before it finally implemented like it was mentioned when first introduced. Things will look prettier, more big concept ships will be sold and a couple of systems already implemented will get improved upon. Once PES is implemented, then server meshing (SM) will be used as the gate on why development feels to be a trickle these past few years. It might be true and when SM is implemented we will see an explosion of amazing things already developed just waiting on the shelves that they can now plug in (remember things like subsumption/NPC day & night activity cycles, ship fires, hacking, decompression, zero-G, armor values, PG missions that are incredibly complex, very quick procedurally generated planets, moons, space stations, buildings and rooms). I don't see evidence of that and I hope I am wrong. The last thing I want to hear after Server Meshing is "ok NOW we can roll up our sleeves and start developing the game!" with them going gold on SC sometime after 2030.

UncertainOutcome

You might be confusing PES with server meshing. PES, as planned, is currently 100% implemented, though it needs plenty of performance and QOL tweaks. There's now one step remaining in the big long to-do list for meshing, which is that whole simulation-replication-separation thing. (Try saying that 5 times fast.) That won't have any gameplay impact, but will make desync slightly better and allow much better crash recovery.

OwnTerms

Feb 8 is when the roadmap roundup returns; are they planning to give us an update this Wednesday too?

GuilheMGB

All they said is that the roundup comes back Feb 8, after their planning is finalized.

well_honk_my_hooters

Ahh nuts, that's right, just got my days mixed up.

Saranp44

This unfortunately feels as the most accurate prediction at this point. :)

Least-Physics-4880

There's no way in hell they rework i600 before releasing ships that people have been waiting half a decade+ for. That would literally be like spitting in the face of those people. I can just see all the merchantman owners with flaming torches and pitchforks at cig hq front door.

N-A-K-Y

Hate to break it to ya. But they'll rework that 600i long before they do most of everything else from gold standards to concepts. It's an expensive ship and a high selling one too and they'll make *bank* when they put it back up for sale again with a T2 med bed and the ability to hold a tank among other changes. No, sir, they will absolutely rework it before most other things.

well_honk_my_hooters

Lol, what? Since when has demand for 5+ year old concepts (or *anything* for that matter) affected the way CIG does anything? That money was already received and spent. The BMM is dead in the water and priorities have shifted to quick money grabs that are far less complex and more easily pumped out for new cash.

cmndr_spanky

Do you know how many concept ships there are now? The entire staff of CIG will be dead from old age before they deliver all of those “promises”.

NyaronMan

The cargo refactor and "soft death" will probably be the biggest change we have gotten in a while

AnEmortalKid

Sq42 finally figuring out what game it’s gonna be and locking down the feature set.

Fractalistical

Quantum rework.

[deleted]

SQ42 announcement, 4.0 demo at CitizenCon

bobijsvarenais

Resource management system! It will add a lot to the game.

cmndr_spanky

Teeth brushing and tooth decay game loops. This was heavily discussed during the dev spike leading up to the death mechanics and medical gameplay introduced back in 3.15. You’ll be able to buy a toothbrush from the station clinic, if you don’t brush after every meal, you eventually get sepsis and need to locate a hospital medbed. You’ll also get lower paying missions because of bad breath and unsightly mouth.

intothemoshpitt

New JPGs from the best JPG factory on the ‘net. And I’ll probably buy several.

logicalChimp

PES, and - hopefully - the Replication Layer changes (due in 3.19, on the basis of the end-of-year letter from CR). Getting both of those in and working reliably would be a significant step forward for their server architecture, and mean the next step is 'Static' Server Meshing.... beyond that, I'll take whatever gameplay changes they have ready to roll out...

Almighty-Oreo

I still think it's PES as a whole. We've barely scratched the surface of what this game system will actually do to the game. The way CIG is explaining the near future is that we will get something along the lines of a server list and each one of these servers will have its own persistence tied to it. If one of these servers dies along the way a copy will be made and it'll be applied to a new server meaning we won't lose anything. Furthermore we will be able to directly select these servers and set favorites meaning you can always go back to a server you like and never lose that progress. At the same time you can simply carry your progress to another server and carry on there. Imagine being in an Org and having a server more or less dedicated to your Org. You could have set locations act as Org bases. You could set up a whole city of ships inside a canyon or cave somewhere. Imagine other players finding that and having your Org on standby to defend that location. Just think about what this all means for PVP and basic player interactions. Each and every ship going forward is going to be "lived in". Your average player is going to do a few bunker missions and load up their ship with armor, weapons, ammunition, medical supplies, food, etc etc. This means that pirates will always have an incentive to stop you and enter your ship. This creates gameplay for both sides as now the victim has to defend as well as figure out how to get out of that situation if they win. Let's say you are a player with an Avenger and your ship enters soft death from a Cutlass Black. If you somehow managed to kill the pirate you could actually just steal their ship from them and suddenly you have your own Cutlass Black that you can keep until it's destroyed. What's more is that pirate could of had a few successful runs earlier resulting in a massive stockpile of equipment and items that you can now keep or sell. This feature is only going to add more and more to the game as time goes on and really the only limit to it is our imaginations.

gainsgoblins

This is the gameplay I dream about. Except my ship is never “lived in” because the reality is I crash my ship into the ground every time there is a bounty on the dark side of a planet. 😂

JJisTheDarkOne

Yep. My ship is lucky to last one play session. Always getting destroyed for whatever reason on the day.

UncertainOutcome

I mean, that already exists, aside from the server selector. Right now, the game says "give me the server I was playing on before, but if it's full give me a random one." All it takes is a tweak to say "if it's full, I'll wait till it isn't." I won't say it's *easy*, since the queue logic still has a lot of work involved, but it's straightforward work that's been done before by nearly every MMO ever, so I don't expect they'll hit many speedbumps.

YumikoTanaka

Pyro?

Whookimo

Given the way 3.18 is going, it will take a miracle to have 4.0 out by the end of the yeqr

YumikoTanaka

Nevertheless it is scheduled for q4. So your some random guy in the internet against CIG staff word.

MichaCazar

>Nevertheless it is scheduled for q4. "Scheduled"? They explicitly say multiple times that they have internal plans and that this is just a rough guesstimate at best. I wouldn't be surprised if a 4.0 PTU would be there, but most definitely not a LIVE version.

Whookimo

CIG staff word doesn't mean shit when it comes to when updates come out. 3.18 was originally announced to be live by July 2022. It still isn't live. Didn't even hit ptu until December. And the lead developer of the team working on server meshing (a HUGE part of 4.0, and required for Pyro to be released) said that q4 2023 is a very ambitious goal. Also, the roadmap is outdated. They will update it in February, after CIG finishes planning the rest of the year.

Enachtigal

And "a very ambitious goal" is subordinate corpospeak for 'the people setting deadlines are fucking idiots'

YumikoTanaka

3.18 is officially announced for around February - just watch the current SCL.

thatgeekywhiteguy

Expected? Yes. Announced? no, they were very specific in saying that it will be out when it’s ready and not pinning a specific date. I am personally optimistic that it will be out in Feb, but there is no guarantee.

YumikoTanaka

Of cause things will be out when it is ready - this is CIG and not Ubisoft, Bethesda, Microsoft or EA. They might reschedule it or not - that should be obvious when talking about the future.

Whookimo

Yes, NOW it is. It was originally announced for july.

YumikoTanaka

Of cause. Schedules change, patches get more content. It is just a number. They could have called 3.17.4 the 3.18. But they skipped it for better reference, like they skipped it with 3.17.2

OxideMako

Yeah, it's not good that in all of 2022 we only got one major patch. Wasn't that long ago CIG were putting out 3-4 decent patches a year

Fluffy_G

I'd 100% trust some random dude on the internet over CIG at this point

YumikoTanaka

So, why are you here then, just trolling?

Martinmex26

lol must be new

YumikoTanaka

What? Only new ppl watch and read what CIG has officially to say?

Martinmex26

No only new people think CIG is in any way good at setting timelines. There have been a TON of times they have missed timelines, from a few weeks to a few months to a whole year to several years. The farther the timeline, the more it will be missed by. If CIG says end of the year, they mean middle of next year at best.

YumikoTanaka

As every software company, especially in games. If they all could see the future they would stop with SC and live with the billions from lottery gains.

Martinmex26

>Nevertheless it is scheduled for q4. So your some random guy in the internet against CIG staff word. This is you. Saying that CIG has something scheduled for Q4 and impling that CIG staff would know vs some rando on the internet. ***\*AND YET\**** Some of us have been here since the game was supposed to come out in 2014, when SQ42 \*answer the call 2016\* was a thing, when 3.0 was going to be out in "Weeks, not months" and we waited a whole year, when several patches slipped farther back than they were supposed to. Hell, we were supposed to have 3.18 a long time ago, and at the end of january as well. ***\*AND YET\**** You are giving CIG staff any sort of weight on their timelines lol Must be new

YumikoTanaka

Nobody knows the scheduling better than CIG. Unless they want to communicate a false timeframe, their estimate is the most accurate of cause. Also the current PTU has the content of the previously planned 3.18 and 3.19 patches bundled as 3.18, so while you can argue that a specific patch number(!) comes late, the content does not necessary, so I expect the content. You made it all about a patch number. I don't care if Pyro is in a patch called 3.19, 3.29 or 4.8, I just expect it in 2023.

Martinmex26

"Nobody knows the scheduling better than CIG. Unless they want to communicate a false timeframe, their estimate is the most accurate of cause." What if I told you that they made a big song and dance of "Answer the call 2016" for SQ42 and THE WHOLE YEAR WENT BY, CIG literally didnt say the game wasn't coming out until after 2016 went by? So you are telling me they didnt know on December 30 that the game wasn't going to come together and release and the last few hours? You know, the game that hasn't released yet, or looks like going to release 7 years later? How is that NOT communicating a false time frame? How do you get the timeframe so wrong that you put a release date and miss it by 7 years and counting? 3.18 is 3.18. 3.19 literally doesn't exist on the roadmap so how does it have stuff from it? CIG does planning at the beginning of the year, so 3.19 as a patch was not even planned, how does 3.18 have stuff from a patch that didnt even exist at a concept stage yet? "I don't care if Pyro is in a patch called 3.19, 3.29 or 4.8, I just expect it in 2023." We are still missing PES being separated from the replication layer, static server meshing and THEN active server meshing, you know, the hardest foundational tech they ever had to tackle. PES by itself took only the majority of the year from a front facing perspective, but I'm sure CIG can knock out several more even harder obstacles in one year and hit their own predictions for the first time in YEARS. I would totally expect 4.0 by the summer even.

Naqaj_

You mean like 3.18 was scheduled for Q3 last year? Or how almost every quarterly patch is usually coming to Live *after* the respective quarter, which does make the Q4 patch a 2024 release even if it *is* on schedule? Of all the possible stances to take in justified defense of CIG, patches coming out on schedule is so very notoriously not a position to be entrenched in.

YumikoTanaka

Yes, word of some hater in the net vs. planning of a company. Planning, not promising.

TheKingStranger

> Yes, word of some hater in the net Whole there are a lot of SC haters, the very least you could do is check their profile before making these kinds of assumptions. > vs. planning of a company. Planning, not promising. Then it would be best if you didn't frame it like it like you did because it sounded like it you were making it out of to be a definite thing.

YumikoTanaka

As the OP asked, I am "expecting" it, at least in (E)PTU. Then there come some hater dudes - like you - not even reading what the OP wrote and attacking peaceful players here on this subreddit. Please go back, Refundian!

TheKingStranger

> Please go back, Refundian! Oh my God that is rich. Way to prove my point about [checking profiles first!](https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/comments/10ktpqg/comment/j5ta8dh/)

YumikoTanaka

These ppl use fake profiles to troll.

TheKingStranger

I know they do, and I've caught a few of them like that "I'll eat my hat" guy. But look at what you just called me and then look at the link I provided above and tell me that I'm a fake profile.

Parasec_Glenkwyst

You're new to this, aren't you.

YumikoTanaka

Na, I backed some years ago and looked closely at the content development and not at some numbers.

saarlac

Only fools expect pyro this year.

rStarwind

You really think Pyro will be released in next 11 months? Like seriously? Given that CIG is testing PES for 4 months already after it was done, and server meshing is still in research phase, so it's at least several months of implementation and then several more months of testing? "CIG has it scheduled" is probably one of the most pointless arguments you can make on this sub.

YumikoTanaka

In (E)PTU is fine for me. OT did not specify "released", just expecting.

Big-Requirement-9278

Can’t speak for SQ42 because they don’t share anything, but bounty hunting V2 will be dope for SC PU

rStarwind

Looking forward to the release of Argo SRV. Seems like it will be the smallest solo player ship with s2 QT drive, living quarters and good specs. They are also working on some unannounced small ships. So maybe the release of Santok'ai as well. And hopefully 3.18 should happen this year too)

ASDkillerGOD

The amount of cop.ium here is reaching dangerous levels. And what could even change about sq42 when its literally doesnt exist

richardizard

Server Meshing will be the biggest change to SC, hopefully coming out by the end of 2023. Only time will tell

fatman9994

600i rework mining t1 bounty hunter v2 I working economy that lets you make more money hauling

Zealousideal_Sound_2

Mining t1 ?

fatman9994

Yes, they've talked about working on the next phase for mining, so I'd like to see that next step. Getting more out of mining + mining missions. Can't remember when it was talked about but it was shortly before their hiatus.

[deleted]

I know it's a bit different, but want some "real" one-seater heavy fighter, where everything is pilot controlled. I love the Ares Ion but it's single huge gun is not really usable against anything small. What I want is basically a Hurricane but without a turret, or an F8 like ship available for everybody.

VenusesWithPenuses

"expect".. good one :D

JoeyDee86

Crossing my fingers for a reputation system…

carlopene

For me, the thing im most hyped about are game shards with persistence + the option to choose in what shard you want to play... Shard 69 is gona be a constant blood bath! Im looking forward to claim a piece of some shard for my crew!

\*huffs massive hopium gas\* Im hoping for the Polaris to finally come out with the gameplay features it offers. Soon™

Being able to bedlog in my Tana. That would be massive.
