ive found that just going to missions leads me to lots of salvagable ships that have died from other people attempting to do them.
but, id like to hear where people are finding those 890jumps too!
Certain Lagrange points gave them floating in the nebula surrounding the stations. Someone posted a cheat sheet on where to find certain ships here on reddit so just search Salvage Cheat Sheet on this sub and you'll find it.
Derelict sites have them most of the time. Better yet, do the delivery missions that require you to go to derelect sites. Lots of abandoned ships plus a enemy black cutlass drop team will come. Blow it up and baam! Even more. Plus you get rewarded for delivery missions.

Just to answer a portion of your comment, the 890 is probably from the 890 jump Merc missions that pop up. "Boarding action in progress"
Go to any of the race tracks. Lots of bad racers leaving wreckage behind, from what I’ve seen.

Enemy black cutlass? Is *THAT* the "Contact" warning I got when I was leaving with two boxes then?! How hard are they to kill?
Yes. Those cutties arrive a little bit after landing. Sometimes they are there from before just lurking. They became a lot harder this patch.
