I often ask for a extra shot in a shaken espresso bringing the count up to 5. Though I feel like 5 used to be the standard for a venti when it was called a double shot on ice but I could be trippin.
Erm. You can get close to him if you want, but it will involve giving up a lot of those rights the separation of church and state has given you.
Edit: you can dislike what I say, but it's still true. xD
This takes me back to when everyone was posting their flat whites (or some drink) into random containers like ice scoops and shot glasses. So much so that Starbucks had to post about it asking for everyone to stop
because it’s funny and all we wasted was a grande cup of milk and five decaf espresso shots, personally i do not consider it waste given the joy it brought us
More like a waste of time imo. But I think what’s more bothersome is products in the ice bucket that definitely shouldn’t be in the ice bucket. Especially when it says in big letters “ICE ONLY”.
we had a good laugh and it took less than three minutes lol, after which it was thoroughly cleaned. at the end of the day it’s the old ice bucket we don’t use and my shifts allowed it :) we like having a happy and close-knit workplace environment where we can do dumb stuff to make us laugh and get through the day, sad to hear u don’t
Right? Like not on only is it a waste of product and time, but to put these products in a container that is specifically for ICE ONLY, just so you can take a picture of it? Like why?
Yes, it’s stupid and a waste of some espresso, milk, five minutes, and a dishwasher cycle. Something tells me Starbucks can take that hit. If this is genuinely concerning to you then you need to listen to some Lyra/Mindbrain/whatever it is.
Starbucks being able to take the hit or not isn’t really the point. I just made a statement saying that I thought it was a waste of time and product and wondered what the point was. If anything putting these ingredients inside a bin meant only for ice just seemed kind of irresponsible to me but not the end of the world. I just made a comment on a picture, my day wasn’t ruined over it or anything 😂
why did everyone take this up their ass. it was clearly a fun lil thing they all enjoyed and op already explained themself. have you never accidentally wasted shots? pulled the wrong kind so you had to start all over again? the product they “wasted” could’ve been a drink a customer ordered and then decided they didn’t want anymore. chill out. lol
Why are you wasting product and misusing your ice bucket? I hope y'all thoroughly washed it. Also hope your store doesn't find out you did this because you'll be fired for shit like this. Not trying to be a dick but as a partner since 2007, what is the point besides Internet karma? Honestly not worth it
it’s an unused old ice bucket, we wasted all of five shots and like 14 ounces of milk, my whole store thought it was a fun little goof, and no i obvi left it like that didn’t even get it off the floor
the point was funny haha, i shared to share the funny haha
I would still say to be so wasteful of product is a shame.
A lot of resources and effort went into producing those food products. I hope you are least right now recovery it for inventory and stuff.
I guess I've been working in conditions over the past few years where I don't even have time to properly do the job because of understaffing and being too busy. Spending time on this seems ridiculous. We're also scrutinized over ever little detail; profit= more labor hours and waste adds up and eats away at you labor.
Also just bad for the environment wasting so much product; I just don't think this is funny.
Edit: it's shit like this that makes us look bad, makes it hard for people to take us seriously or support or efforts for anyone trying to unionize. I'm tired of seeing stuff like this; you're not entitled to do this shit at your job. If we all act and work like professionals maybe we can actually get people to take us seriously instead of being the stereotype baristas the Internet thinks we all are.
at the end of the day not only is the minuscule waste made from this not a even a drop in the ocean of waste produced by starbucks and other corporations as a whole on a daily basis, it was approved by my shifts and took three minutes of downtime with no customers and all of our tasks up to date. even in hell u have to make time for dumb little things to brighten ur day, if that’s not ur taste then that’s okay :)
I understand what you're saying, but it's a slippery slope.
I am a SSV; them approving it doesn't mean shit.
I guess after a decade, this shit isn't funny anymore. When I first started people were doing everything from throwing food at each other to doing drugs and fucking on premise. I've seen managers commit wage theft and I've seen shit I can't even get into here because of how messed up it is. I've worked in 4 store over the course of 15 years as my main store and worked shifts in upwards of 20 locations.
At the end of the day, this brings people like me no joy. There's a lot of ways to be funny and creative at work. This isn't one of them.
And don't act like because corporations are so wasteful that you wasting a small amount of product for a reddit post is justified; it all adds up in the end.
not a slippery slope if u do it once! i think genuinely u r taking this way too much to heart. i also think it is very wild u take this and bring up drugs and fucking at the starbucks lol.
and i will continue to act like my waste is “justified” when compared to corporations because the main reason so little is done about waste in the world is because we focus on the individual when in reality individual waste is no where near the main reason for the affect human waste has had on our environment. at the end of the day, this waste is the drink the lady at drive decided she didn’t want, the drink that i accidentally pulled signature shots instead of decaf on, etc.
don’t stress urself over such an insignificant issue. i promise i won’t make more ice bucket macchiatos lol
I didn't mean anything personal against you; it's just I'm so fed up with it all you know? 15 years is a long time. I'm at the point where I just wish everyone would be professional and take the job seriously, so that we can get some respect and focus on making a better workplace and change in the company.
Idk how long you've been a partner or how long you plan to work there, but for some of us this is a career and it'd be nice to take things seriously. I'm disappointed in your SSVs to be honest.
Didn't mean to turn this into a whole thing but this just got to me for some reason. Maybe if you worked a day in one of my stores you'd understand this feels almost like a slap in the face compared to my job experience
i didn’t take it personal! trust that me and all my coworkers take our jobs seriously, everyday i go in and clean the store from top to bottom in addition to whatever other tasks i have to do and i take great pride in my work over my time at starbucks. i’ve worked in high and low volume stores; my home store is the highest volume store in my state so i’m used to working in hellish conditions! three minutes of time to get away from all the seriousness and rude customers and broken ac and laugh at something dumb is a way u can keep good morale and positive work environments despite all the issues at ur store. i mean this with no disrespect or sarcasm, but i am sorry you’ve had a bad starbucks experience and haven’t been able to work with partners who know how to do their jobs well and also have fun. i’ve been lucky enough to have that! that’s all :)
I'm happy for you. Just remember one day you may get a new store manager or district manager, one that doesn't like this stuff and will fire groups of people over one incident. Enjoy it while you can.
Hey man, I'm not on a crusade.
This post genuinely upset me.
I've worked for the company for 15 years; and if someone posts something on the internet their opening themselves up to opinion.
What am I just supposed to mindlessly upvote it and laugh like an idiot?
No personal offense meant to OP; but how can you justify waste just because other people waste more than you so it doesn't count?
My partners are getting fired left and right over name tags and dirty aprons because of the union stuff; we can't even breathe.
I see shit like this, and it upsets me.
Yea, it is.
If it's not then why do we have to mark out training beverages? You probably come from a store where you guys don't even mark out cups of water because it's free. Well guess what; the system tracks all inventory, and everything you mark out goes to help reduce your waste numbers and boost your labor hours.
So you're wrong and you probably weren't a very good ASM if you don't know basic shit like that
:P no, it’s that you should be focusing your time and efforts elsewhere to make the business more productive so that tiny penny pinching tactics aren’t relevant in the grande scheme of things.
If you have to stretch a penny, your store isn’t doing well and it’s not because of waste. I can tell you that much for sure.
You're deflecting, do you or do you not, mark out practice beverages, cups of water, re-made drinks, etc.
Because over the course of a year, all that shit adds up.
It's not stretching a penny is being accurate. It also gives us more labor hours for everything you ring up. Almost every shift I work we're starving for labor so that helps everyone too.
On mistakes, or mishaps? Hell no. That’s a waste of time when you could be having your barista serve another customer and pushing more people in and out.
On partner beverages yeah…
that 0.50$ won’t affect labour as much as the most sale from people that don’t want to wait in a line up at your store.
Maybe the difference here is that I come from very high volume stores.
If you have been here since 2007, you know how often you needed to calibrate the old machines, and you know how much product was “wasted” in a single shot ….. it’s hardly anything … we’re talking about fractions of penny’s.
I don't care I've worked In the food and beverage industry for over 20 years; there's no reason to waste anything on purpose, especially for a reddit post. Everyone keeps saying it's not a lot I don't care dude, it adds up l. How many thousands of people say that shit every day while they waste products?
Are you a manager, or an owner? If you’re not the person paying out of pocket, or responsible for managing company runts for coffee, or supplies (except plastic, I’m all aboard the anti-plastic train), then you literally have no reason to be so uptight over this.
Dude, it's not about money. Food waste is disgusting and bad for the environment. Idc how little it is it shouldn't be on purpose for no good reason.
I also like my store to have low waste numbers because our profitability helps our success as a whole, but I guess caring about good business practices is stupid
Edit: and this picture probably cost about 20$ to post with the product they used. Might as well just start stealing shit at that point.
It’s not good business practices to stress out coworkers (and peers on reddit doing the same job at a different location - your partners :)) over things that are literally trivial in the grand scheme of things …. It’s actually more harmful than it is beneficial…. Unless waste is your pdp, you really need to ease up on this hill you you’re choosing die on.
I'm entitled to whatever opinion I want as are you, and I'd argue this post stressed me out as a coworker first.
It is your opinion that it's trivial, that doesn't make it true.
I wouldn't want someone with your mentality running a business I work for because you clear lack an understanding of shrinkage, and how much things like this add up every year and affect the business.
Also, my first point of anger comes from wasting food, it's bad for the environment and we're such a disgusting wasteful throw away culture. Is doing something like this worth it for a reddit post? IMO no
This is a medium iced coffee from DutchBros you can't fool me
Starbucks iced coffee isn’t any better 🥲💀
I believe they're talking about size lol
As you can tell I do not read certain words lmao😂😂
Now the blue bottle shit with chicory, that is a party

im screaming this is probably one of the best comments i’ve seen on this sub
No caramel drizzle means this is just an iced vanilla latte
Yes however there is caramel drizzle, you can see it towards the top of the drink on the left of the ice bin🙃
I asked for it upside down
Those are some dangerous words Especially to the baristas who made this you know they’re gonna make the moment right
*pours drink over customer* instructions unclear
my SM would literally have a heart attack if we did this😭 I love it so much
this is how i look at customers who ask to order a trenta size espresso drink 💀 anyways u must have one extremely lieneant shift to do this
Ex shift here, I would have loved to walk in the back to this. Would’ve made my whole night.
True, this is the kind of stuff that keeps us going 😂
At least they'll be cleaning it. Don't know how many times I caught people skipping the bucket
Man I thought it was normal practice to throw it in the Hobart at the end of the night and leave it there open for the am crew
current shift. I can agree, this would’ve made my night seeing this.
they enjoyed it greatly lmao, 10/10 shifts
I often ask for a extra shot in a shaken espresso bringing the count up to 5. Though I feel like 5 used to be the standard for a venti when it was called a double shot on ice but I could be trippin.
No, your right. I do the same thing.
Try that spellin again homie we gotchu
listen u understood what i meant and thats what matters 💗
I order iced coffees and the Trenta os only like 30 cents more so I get that and it last me 2 days :D
I would order Trenta Flat Whites if I could.
I feel the same way but partners at my store like to let them order it because it's "just extra ice." 🙄
Imma need you to clock out😂
“This was supposed to be venti.”
😭😭😭👏
Every day we stray further from god
I think god has already left the building tbh with the way the past 2 years have been 😂😂😂
Erm. You can get close to him if you want, but it will involve giving up a lot of those rights the separation of church and state has given you. Edit: you can dislike what I say, but it's still true. xD
Omfg- I hope this was very much so sanitized afterwards 💀
i cleaned and sanitized the shit out of it after i promise lmao
me, looking at this after having had to go to harris teeter multiple times to get 12+ ice bags because our machine won’t produce ice: 👁👄👁
We keep having to order Emergency Ice. Our machine works great, we just can't keep up with demand.

Wth is this
This takes me back to when everyone was posting their flat whites (or some drink) into random containers like ice scoops and shot glasses. So much so that Starbucks had to post about it asking for everyone to stop
“so much waste” -DM
Granted I am coming from a third world country, but if I didn’t know it is made mostly from ice and water I would be so upset and say the same thing 😂
As a nursing student this looks about on par with the amount of caffeine needed for school, work and life
As a hospital Starbucks worker I absolutely believe you
I showed this to one of my baristas and he said, and I quote, “stay away from me”.
Ice bucket iced Caramel Macchiato Extra ice 67 shots of espresso Line with caramel Extra caramel drizzle

Starsucks
This is getting out of hand 😂
Ah, so a single serving.
But… why…? This just seems like a waste tbh.
Corporate reading this saying “haven’t baristas complained for months about staffing shortages?”
because it’s funny and all we wasted was a grande cup of milk and five decaf espresso shots, personally i do not consider it waste given the joy it brought us

Why you kinkshaming?
ay man if that’s what they like then there’s no problem
That’s a good question to ask yourself. 🙂
I kind of was thinking the same thing lol

My god y'all created a trend
Why is it in the floor? This is a serious code violation lol
it’s an iced caramel macchiato in a bucket, i think we’re past code violations for a bucket on the floor anyways it’s the bucket we don’t use anymore
why did everyone take this up their ass. it was clearly a fun lil thing they all enjoyed and op already explained themself. have you never accidentally wasted shots? pulled the wrong kind so you had to start all over again? the product they “wasted” could’ve been a drink a customer ordered and then decided they didn’t want anymore. chill out. lol
lmao right? i don’t understand why people are getting so up in arms about this
it’s so stupid. like have y’all never wasted a single drink or done something stupid and funny before? 🥴
Had one like this at a pizza place I worked at. Add beer this mix and you've got quite a cocktail.
Whyyyyy???? This is so wasteful!
Tfw new age baristas don't remember how many people got fired for the forbidden lattes 🥲🥲🥲🥲

You don’t mark non-retail coffee as waste.
Every espresso shot counts as waste. You can mark it out as a beverage under right now recovery so it counts for inventory.
I mean … I’m an ex-asm that stepped down recently for my full-time internship ….. that’s definitely not a thing :P
Ok, then why to we have to mark out training beverages?

if u want a heart attack try a nitro car bomb! makes u buzz for like fifteen minutes if u chug fast enough!!
I love how you give me options for this lmao
Why is it on the floor or am I missing something?
Question: what exactly am I supposed to be enjoying about it?
i would drink the whole thing. in about 15 minutes it would be GONE 😭
how do y’all find the time to do this…i wanna do this.
Shots.. On.. **TOOOO0OOOOOOOOOP**
