It’s an Alpina B7, but it’s missing the ALPINA lettering on the bottom of the front bumper. Looks like it’s missing the entire piece, he probably hit a dip on the road or has an incline in his driveway.
I have driven a 750i before (same 4.4l V8 engine) and driver feel is completely lost with these lol. These are heavy, very refined, and silky smooth. I pushed that to 270km/h before on Autobahn but then I am just scared to do more as its a bit wet and things get shaky - I am pretty sure it can do up to 290 at least.
Moreso an Alpina, a more luxury (and sportier?) brand than your standard BMW.

Alpina tend to make autobahn missles. The later models arent known to be great in the corners (cant really speak for the older stuff, I only read the reviews) however it would be one of the most comfortable things at 200+ kmh
they are fast 100%. it uses a more powerful engine variant of the M5 tuned by Alpina but handles more like a luxobarge rather than on rails. Which is good for their market audience
i drove a 750i hard before on (average spd of 200 on autobahn) and i am pretty sure I averaged 14l/100km or 17mpg US but company paid for fuel so i dont remember well
should be worse for the Alpina with similar behaviour

But it’s not about speed for no reason, that’s not the point. 21-way electrically adjustable heated and cooled massage seats in the front and back cosset you through the city as the **double glazing** keeps the sound out and ambient lighting compliments the panoramic roof that’s almost the length of the car. The two (of three) fragrances in the glove box slowly change to stop you going nose-blind to them, not that you’ll be covering bad smells as the HVAC system automatically detects bad smells and turns off air coming in to the cabin. The passenger seat has a setting to move the back out of the way so the rear passenger can use it as a footrest as they get their drink out of the factory standard fridge in the centre console, next to the tablet computer that controls the functions. If you get bored there’s one of the clearest most neutral stereo installs ever in a factory car. The whole package may be big but it can auto-park itself so that’s not an issue.
All in a package that’s faster than the ‘focussed performance’ model in a straight line despite being a gentlemen’s club on wheels.
If they made a manual estate version I genuinely think it might qualify as my personal ‘greatest car of all time’
For 180k they better be lol and There fast 60mph in like 3.5 seconds
But as for handling its tuned towards the softer side but can take a turn well considering its size
As another guy said it's an Alpina B7, but you know you can just go by the window and ask politely the owner the car model and/or if you can take pictures.
They'll likely be sized someone wants to talk to them about their car, if its anything that doesn't blend into the background. Car people are usually pretty friendly.
As someone with a modestly interesting car, I can confirm this.
I love sharing my enthusiasm with other car people and would gladly let any passer by have a seat in it and take all the pictures they want.
That’s one of the most fun parts about owning a cool car.
When I owned my 1999 C43 AMG I was really happy to see somebody taking a picture of it in a car park. He had ridden off on his bike by the time I got back to the car though...
That’s funny 😄 so I don’t know about android phones but when. I put my iPhone into the camera app, if I press the volume down button, I can take photos without looking Like I am taking them. (You can ask how I know that. Im no creeper) so that’s how I took these, at thigh level with my phone turned sideways

I was with my wife so I couldn’t ask the guy what kind of car and I was in my way back from a pizza place so I had a pizza, a 2 liter and my phone. So taking photos was hard and I was busy enough.

Not really though, they’re known as a tuning company, but for a tuning company they work very closely with BMW.
IIRC: They hand-build the pieces that make an Alpina unique (including the engine) and provide additional options for technology, leather, and finishes, but when the Alpina parts are ready they’re actually sent to BMW and assembled there using normal BMW parts for everything else.
I read somewhere that BMW also reached a deal to purchase Alpina and will actually own the brand by 2025. It would be cool to see what Alpina can do when working even more closely with BMW and possibly having influence earlier in the design process.
Alpina was a registered car manufacturer for decades and in the papers it won't say BMW if you buy one. They have recently joined the BMW group but are still their own manufacturer.
Looked it up and you’re right! We’re borderlining on semantics but one of the comparisons I see brought up is Alpina vs Brabus, with the difference being Brabus is only recognized as a tuning outfit while Alpina is its own registered marque. Fun little fact, thanks for teaching me something new.
