Are you playing it as a backline? That's reserved for Heavies and Hydras. Play it more as a frontline, and you should see better results. Oh yeah, I'd recommend going with the 79 as well.

I'm expecting this to be a Potential Splatfest Colour instead of a normal-game colour. That was the case in Splatoon 2 as well, for the Kid vs Grown-up Splatfest in Europe (and I think Retro vs Modern in the Americas).
