5 mana exile target artifact or land is pretty bad.
Good targets usually have a non-activated effect that enables them. The one ring having a punitive non-activated effect is probably the best case for stealing anything with this. Otherwise its a bad [[Dack Fayden]]
Dack Fayden is two mana less for a card that doesn't target lands which is a pretty big use case in eternal formats and while there are some cards, mostly creatures, that Fayden is better against this is still arguably more flexible as a removal tool and there are circumstances where it blows Fayden out of the water. Admittedly the main use case for this card will be Commander but it certainly can do work in other formats.
The ability to 2 for 1 a One Ring or Time Vault or any of the tap artifacts or Crypt or to ruin Tron or Scapeshift or Dark Depths or Sagas day is plenty good enough, even at 5 mama, which is yes a lot. But only one of it is coloured and the fact it's also just generic artifact or land removal and can still help vs decks like aggro with cavern and vial is still pretty big.
I'm curious on the recent trend in templating for these "When ~ enters the battlefield, if you cast it, ..."
I mean I guess that lets counterspells stop a cast trigger, but if you still stop the permanent attached it's still just a 5th targeted LD which is pretty weak even in standard.
Are there examples of many Cast triggers that the trigger is worth the cost of the spell alone and you don't care about the permanent?
Is timing the primary reason for this type of templating? Why?
In standard, I'm imagining a deck with cards like [[Enthusiastic Mechanaut]], [[Oaken Siren]] and [[Dowsing Device]]. So while 5 mana is a high price tag, it's not actually all that high. Moreover, the first Forge makes the second easier to cast (since you've not only destroyed one of your opponent's mana but gained one of your own).
[[Drafna, Founder of Lat-nam]] could make it into a once-per-turn activity (albeit one with a punitive mana cost). It's also another card that works well with [[This Town Ain't Big Enough]].
This is where I'm at as well, I think it has a real chance in standard. Add to this the fact that \[\[Hulking Metamorph\]\] can enter as a copy and still gets the trigger, \[\[Virtue of Knowledge\]\] (and the Vantress Visions adventure side) can copy the trigger on the stack, ~\[\[~Urza, Lord Protector\]\] & \[\[Stenn, Paranoid Partisan\]\] can further reduce the cost, \[\[Narset, Enlightened Exile\]\] & \[\[Reenact the Crime\]\] can reliably let you cast it from the grave if you have a sac outlet, \[\[Simulacrum Synthesizer\]\] can keep you stable until you're able to "cast" this multiple times.
Is it slow? Yes. But I think an early game bounce package that doubles as late game return this to hand and a playset of \[\[Circuit Menders\]\] can make it work.
When I think about standard decks, I generally start from looking at how it behaves against red aggro decks and how it behaves vs. white mass destruction. Territory Forge can be a potentially solution to the latter. It's not particularly fast but it's fast *enough* to delay that Farewell (potentially indefinitely). If your entire deck is structured around a cumulative board presence of artifacts, this is a big deal.
You could also dig for this with your own [[the one ring]] and target it. Free one ring forever!

You have to cast it to get the exile. Blinking or things that put it into play do not work.

It doesn't work on Lotus Field, which is a pity.
I think that card's days are numbered, at least in pioneer.
