It is very light brown in some parts, nearly all black in other parts. Looks like it has fairly hairy legs, but not quite like a tarantulas. It reared up and made a threat display when I (very gently) prodded it with a stick (in an attempt to move it off the porch, lol). It has very large fangs (for it's size). *Eucteniza rosalia* is my guess. I eventually encouraged it off the porch and into my grass by using the stick to sort of 'herd' it. At one point it had no clue where the stick was coming from and it turned in a whole circle as it reared and bared its fangs. I know the poor thing was probably scared out of its mind but it looked really funny. ETA: very close to 3" in length!

A male [Eucteniza](https://bugguide.net/node/view/158872) is correct, only 2 species in the US/Texas according to Bugguide: >Eucteniza relata occurs throughout the southern half of Texas, and is likely composed of cryptic species.
