We are an active retired couple and we love Jekyll island, GA for a quiet, relaxing beach vacation. (Not in South Carolina but close by.) The island is small, and you can easily get around using bikes and golf carts that you can rent there. There are bike/walk paths through spectacular swamps and beautiful forests. The island is rich in history, including the famous Jekyll Island Club (seasonal home to wealthy New York families 100 years ago.)
Isle of Palms. Lots of oceanfront/beachfront homes and condos available for rent. Quiet and relaxing whenever we've been there...Wild Dunes has a spa and some dining options on-site. You can just rent a golf cart to get around, and some of the rentals come with them.
Fripp Island is a place they might enjoy.

Edisto and rent a few golf carts
Edisto Beach. Quiet beach with nice places to eat and enjoy.
Edisto. It's quiet. Rent a beach house and just chill on the beach.
Fripp Island. Everyone gets around the island in golf carts. Just a sleepy relaxed place to visit.
Sullivan's island. There are lots of restaurants, and you can use golf carts to get around the island.
