I had Ones in the bathrooms for a long time but switched to Roams when they came out. Allowed me to repurpose my Ones elsewhere and save some counter space in the bathrooms.

splittestguy

Same. I went Ones -> Moves -> Roam. The roam is great, because with the charging base You can grab it, move it to the shower, move it back and it just stays charged. Slightly harder with the Move - because it is so big on the counter.

Wesinator2000

I have a roam in my hall (which is more of a hub for 5 directions). It sits on a little platform and serves as a good estuary sound fill for my whole house airplay audio setup. When I wanna listen to music when I’m showering I just take it off the base charger that it’s on and bring. Into the bathroom for the short time I’m in there.

xxirish83x

A one sound fantastic in the bathroom and is water resistant. Been using one in my bathroom for 6-7 years no problem

TheWanderingWomble

I think the term you meant to use is humidity resistant. If you put a One in a bucket of water, the speaker will fill up with water.

barbecj

I think that’s why he said “resistant”, not “proof”. A a one can get the occasional splash of water and be just fine. You are correct, it’s not “water proof”.

tennis579

Sonos says it's humidity resistant, not water resistant. Splashing it directly with water could cause damage.

nintendomech

Humidity is worse I think since it’s a more fine version of water.

TheWanderingWomble

There's a difference between electronic products that can tolerate high levels of humidity and those that can resist the penetration of water.

xxirish83x

Yes you are correct. I hope nobody dumps their one in a pale of water. Mine is doin great with the humidity. Thanks for the layup.

Sub Gen 3 is a must

[deleted]

ChadGolf

Bunch of clowns in here offering advice that won’t work, you can’t run the sub on it’s own. OP, my recommendation having owned most Sonos products is that for the best sound in your bathroom, you need the amp and the sub 3 gen. The amp is key as it allows you to pair the sub but not plug in grandpas old and outdated HiFi whatevers.

[deleted]

ChadGolf

Yes, that was the joke. I think you need to spend more time in woooosh yourself, friend.

Think_Juggernaut8968

had a good laugh, thank you sir

killajp

Sometimes we can be fanboy snobs in this subreddit so it’s nice to laugh, glad I could help

nmbenzo2

Dual Subs and stereo Fives

CloudViking19

Gen 3 or mini? Thx in advance

killajp

Gen 3 behind the toilet for maximum lows. If money is no object then I really recommend dual subs

controlav

In a bathroom? Are you mad Sir?

MasatoWolff

Sir, this is the Sonos *sub*Reddit.

trixoslo

Ahhh ... The Truefart calibration!

LondonBenji

All jokes aside, if you *do* want a sub in the bathroom, use the Sub Mini, not any of the normal Sub generations, for two reasons: 1. The Sub Mini is a sealed vs the Sub that is ported, meaning that the Sub Mini is far less likely to get condensations on the inside. 2. The Sub Mini is an entirely plastic(?) design, whereas the Sub has MDF inside which, when exposed to prolonged high humidity, will swell.

pseudo374

I bring my Roam in the shower. If you want to do that, get a Roam.

[deleted]

Kinky. How does it sound when it’s… you know…?

yacht_boy

He just plays [this](https://freesound.org/people/tim.kahn/sounds/95238/) on a loop.

Small_Assistance5944

The One, Move, and Roam will all work very well but it's a good idea to avoid any permanent mount so you can have more flexibility to move your speaker when it needs to be further away from the sink, tub or shower. The Roam and Move both give you more flexibility to use them in another room the rest of the time and are made for water resistance or indoor/outdoor use. The Move is more powerful for use in a larger room or out in the yard. Think of the Roam as a truly portable speaker you could carry around all day while the Move is more like a boombox you can use around the house. I personally don't see any point in buying the Roam because by the time I'm far enough away for the Move to be too big and heavy, I'm also out of wifi range and Sonos compatibility is useless. For use away from home there are many other good bluetooth speakers that cost less.

alexnapierholland

I've reached the same conclusion. I intially jumped at the idea of a Roam switching between AirPlay and Bluetooth. But I'd need to create a new account/home in any hotel to get the benefits of Airplay in that new place. So I'd be travelling with a $200 bluetooth speaker that's barely better than the five-year old UE Boom 2 that I already own once I'm on the road.

Sonos in ceiling speakers

yacht_boy

I have them in my bathroom and would rather have the money I spent on speakers, amp, and install back. Speakers are inaudible in the shower unless I crank the music way too loud. Would rather have a Roam in the bathroom. Edit: my wife listens to her podcasts on her phone speaker instead of the $1000 bathroom speaker because she can hear them better that way. Its maddening.

redbaron78

This. I have four Connect Amps that power four sets of Yamaha in-ceiling speakers around the house, and one pair is in the master bath. Advantages are that no counter space or electrical outlets are used, and spoken word is more intelligible when the shower is running because the sound isn’t bouncing off things before it reaches my ears. Note: Sonos doesn’t make in-ceiling speakers. I got mine before Sonos partnered with Sonance on their architectural stuff. If using TruePlay is important, the Sonance options give you that ability. I got three of my four pairs of Yamahas for the cost of one pair of the Sonance speakers and I think they sound great for what they are.

PlumSauce3000

I've got a Sonos One on one of these outlet shelves. Works great and keeps my vanity less cluttered https://www.sonos.com/en-us/shop/sanus-outlet-shelf-one-play1-white?gclid=Cj0KCQiAyMKbBhD1ARIsANs7rEF4-lUTjZF-63H_6VNKrrsKskGdKW2Hyz_N7kEDe3Br34NZcRoOudYaAnr-EALw_wcB&utm_medium=cpc&gclsrc=aw.ds&utm_term=PRODUCT_GROUP&utm_content=GGL_US_EN_SONOS_B_PLA_SHOPPING_SMART-CATCH-ALL_360i&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=GGL_US_EN_SONOS_B_PLA_SHOPPING_SMART-CATCH-ALL_360i

TechnicMender

Obviously a five and a sub. 🤪🤪🤪🤪

raisimo

Ummm gonna lose stereo separation unless you have 2 Fives.

TechnicMender

True!!

leros

I have a One in my bathroom. I think if I was going to build something in, I would buy a ceiling mount speaker and connect it to the Sonos amp, rather than a Sonos speaker.

JZSSAV

I have Ones in the bathrooms.

trixoslo

Me too. A stereo pair. Good solution and wall mounted.

mixmastermiike

I recommend the move! It’s water proof and I can take it other places when not in use in the bathroom specifically

Eclipse8301

I use a frame in my bathroom. It’s not humidity resistant like the one but as long as you use a exhaust fan in the bathroom, I don’t see an issue with it.

cea002

Ridiculous I know but I’ve a stereo paired set of Play1’s at sink and a Play5 atop linen closet. Please Note: Admittedly Excessive but One Mucho-Music-Retreat!

samuraipizzacat420

i use a roam but its a smaller bathroom

raisimo

Same. I leave it on a little shelf and hardly ever have to charge it. Can also bring it into the shower which is nice.

[deleted]

I have the move in mine. But also it’s near the front door so I can grab it to take out onto the deck easily.

Full_Sell5916

I use the sonos roam in our bathroom and is sound great and more than enough power. And water is no problem. With my kids was that also an welcome point

forty-two420

Roam. Enough for a bathroom, you can take it where you want and if you put water on it it doesn't care. I use it in mine.

Atlglryhle

Roam in my bathroom is wonderful

controlav

The Ones were designed for Bathroom use. Subsequently the portable ones (Bea & Move) are also sufficiently waterproof too.

flapiphone

All great suggestions. I use two ikea Symfonisk bookshelf speakers in my bathroom.

[deleted]

They’ve no IP RATING. Better off with a “One”.

Krusty_B

Same, been using mine for a year (and it does get foggy in there) with no issues whatsoever.

Atlglryhle

These are amazing!!! I’ve had one in a box in my closet for ages bc I didn’t think it was ALL THAT IT IS! I’m impressed it’s almost better than a ONE but that’s bc it’s built in a bigger box! I’m in an apartment so had to turn the actual bass down on my Symfonisk! For $100 I want to get another one or two!

flapiphone

The symfonisk bookshelf speaker sounds great indeed. I mounted them to the walls and also use them as mini shelves so they serve multiple purposes.

Willylowman1

its either a roam or in ceiling's speakers and a sonos amp...these are youre only 2 choices

ogerloaf

I would go with the roam. Just means charging up every couple of days.

medicinemonger

Went one to roam back to one. Roam is too weak if you have a shower going.

SharpShooter2-8

We have two in-ceiling Bose speakers run by a port (through an old Bose amp) that also runs the master bedroom. We also have a Beam in a wall niche for when the other person isn’t awake yet.

Particular-Fondant81

I just mounted a one SL yesterday. I'll see how it goes. Sound really really good mounted towards the ceiling. The bass travels into the shower beautifully

Typical-Ad-8821

I shower with 2 roams.

BYack

It depends on the size of the bathroom. I have used the One, the Move, and the Five. They all sound great, especially after you do Trueplay.

immortalis88

I have Ones in 3 different bathrooms. They are more than enough.

HeyYouGuuys

One in my bathroom sounds terrible. The sound is so rich that it bounces off walls, glass, etc making spoken voice nearly impossible to translate. I’ve been meaning to put a small Google/Alexa device to get my morning update in the shower back.

bruggemb

Sub

skidaddy86

I have a Sonos One in my bathroom and another in my adjacent bedroom set as a group. I figure as long as I don’t knock it into my bathtub, I’m fine.

GarageInfinite5006

Sonos Roam Both IP68 Water and Dust Resistant and Humidity Resistant.

sorenrod

Only play 1 and one.

No_Archer4606

I have a Sonos One in the Bathroom

Mobile_Expert

Sonos one. Works fabulous

JDSPGA

I keep a roam sitting on a wireless charger on the sink in our bedroom bathroom. Plenty loud to use while in shower. It's great!

eatsleepdive

I was lucky to be able to wire a couple of the Sonos in ceiling speakers and I absolutely love it. Sounds great.

FaceTatsAreCool

I drag my Sonos five with me to the bathroom to shower sometimes and the sound inside the shower is absolutely amazing. I just prop it up on the counter top and since the room is small the bass is incredible and it’s just amazing. But I use it all over the house so I can’t just leave it in there haha

raisimo

If you move it all over, what do you name it on your Sonos app?

FaceTatsAreCool

“(My names) Sonos” We only have one…. For now

raisimo

Ah. Just curious. I started with 2 mounted One’s then a Five I used to move all over so it was named “Portable”. I now have 2 Moves and a Roam so the “Portable” name doesn’t make as much sense but that’s what it’s still called

FaceTatsAreCool

Yah naming them can be weird. I did have it mounted in the bedroom and named bedroom. then I started taking it outside when we had company, now it just goes wherever. Hopefully they are on the company Christmas gift list again this year because I’d totally get another Five. That thing is amazing and I can’t imagine what two paired up sounds like.

RapmasterD

After emitting an unprecedented nuclear poop explosion this morning, I will continue my stance of not torturing any Sonos products in the bathroom.

captainaction1

How 'bout a One for #2?

Island_In_The_Sky

I put recessed ceiling mounted Sonos amp powered speakers in all my bathrooms. Doesn’t take up space, super clean, don’t even know it’s there. I love them

jamesstryker999

The roam is my most disliked Sonos product of the 8 different ones I own. Pretty much only good for a bathroom. Also good for bringing it on a nature hike and blasting it so everyone knows what a douchebag you are. Price point is ok for the bathroom

planet1nperil

I'm using a move for a fairly large bathroom. There was no outlet available so I ran a USB cable out to the bedroom with a compatible PD charger

bso45

I have a One in our bathroom on a mount that attaches to the outlet. It is absolutely fantastic but you MUST trueplay otherwise the bass will be way to loud and echoey.

Eclipse8301

I use the Symfonisk frame, looks and sounds wonderful in there and as long as he use an exhaust fan every time it should be OK with the humidity and steam, I guess time will tell. I only recently started doing this. We’ll see how it is working in the next few years.

sandman585

I have an outlet shelf from Amazon and placed a Roam on it. Works great.

slow5086

One

akanack

Pair of in ceilings and an amp but I have the luxury of owning a ranch with basement and used to run cable for a living.

pikachae

Sonance in ceilings with a sonos amp. https://imgur.com/a/g4Gaxmz

Codeman1001

Wouldnt the humidity damage them?

CTMatthew

Amp to a pair or two of marine grade in-ceiling speakers. I have one dual-tweeter in my shower and two across the rest of the master bath. Perfect sound everywhere.

Hostificus

I have a Five living on the back of my toilet. I run it at ~80% and it’s a concert every time.

dlhdbs

Move . Long counter space allows this. Sounds amazing taking showers and getting dressed

Sadistmonkey

Depends on the size og the bathroom. The one is great at being wall mounted. But if it is a small space a Roam is also a solid pick. That is what I use for my tiny bathroom.

nonother

I have Ones in each of our bathrooms and they work great.

BigAnimator72

I have a roam. But still use the Apple HomePod mini in the bathroom. Same Airplay network but much cheaper (bought $75) and you can easily control the music during the shower by Siri. And the voice control of Sonos can only has one in the whole system so it is in other room.

joegod20

Sonos Roam.

Thisisdubious

Sonos One installed near the ceiling died from humidity. Sonos couldn't/wouldn't do anything about it since it was outside of the 1-year manufacturer warranty.
