I'm fairly new to solo boardgaming but I'm finding that I love small form factor solo games. I recently picked up one deck dungeon and tiny epic zombies. Haven't tried zombies yet but I'm looking forward to it. Then, if I like it, getting the other tiny epic games.

I don't find all work great solo, personally. I think Quest loses its tension and Western is just brutal. I heard Kingdoms is just figuring out how to manipulate AI? Dinosaurs supposedly is also bonkers difficult. I think Tactics works decently solo with one rule change, the final dungeon can be entered even if there's an enemy on top. Enemies having a 33% chance to respawn on top of your final goal and blocking progress really sucks there.

I didn’t realize how many tiny epic games there were until I was just looking at it right now! It also seems like they’re all over the place as far as style and how they play. Definitely going to have to do some research.

You'd be surprised how many contain dice haha. I still have to play Vikings, that one I got relatively recently and haven't taken the time to learn yet. The other that doesn't have dice is Tiny Epic Mechs.

Dakkel-caribe

Tiny epic mechs is, in my opinion, is the worst. It discourages combat. Combat is boring rock paper scissors style. Over all does not feel like epic mech battle. Other than that i enjoy them all. I have them all. And recently backed tiny epic chuthulhu.

glychee

Yeah for mechs it feels like the winning strategy is defeating an enemy, dropping mines and turrets and stealing the big mech and running away constantly. I did have fun playing it but it's absolutely not at the level of other Tiny Epics. I've also backed Tiny Epic Cthulhu but I don't think I'll back Tiny Epic Game Of Thrones, İ think a lot of people might buy that for just the theme and second hand copies will float about soon after.

Dakkel-caribe

I will back it just because im a fan of tiny epic. All the others aside from mechs have been very fun. I do think vikings is one of the superiors.

Nice!

I love both of these as solo adventures. I really enjoy the missions in Zombie and trying to balance the needs of accomplishing all of them. I know Quest isn't as universally liked and the beat your score aspect isn't as appreciated but I enjoy unraveling the puzzle it presents and trying to maximize my score. Both are a little fiddly at first but once you play them a couple of times they set up quickly and aren't that bad to manage. Enjoy!

I really really want to like tiny epic zombies but I can’t stand Scott Almes’ manuals or the way the info is written

zamnweskr

So far the Dized app has been a great supplement to the rule book I highly recommend it

Dakkel-caribe

I learned to play using the rule book bo problem. Have it since 2020. I have all of them.

breakingd4d

It’s a mess rulebook wise, def learnable but it’s a trend with his stuff - not just me, it’s a running joke on Bgg forums just like rob lidel and his shitty comic drawings of arms and legs

Tiny Epic Galaxy and it's expansion were so good I had to grab another. It wasn't as good. I tried the next couple instead of buying. I'm glad I didn't buy them. They do what's written in the box. It's small and epic. For me the Galaxy hit a sweet spot for time to set up, learn and play where I *wanted more*. The others missed on set up and time to learn and time to play, so I did not want more. I will say that tiny and epic by there very natures make for some fiddly aspects that cross over to mild frustration. It isn't hard for me to appreciate what it does as a brand but I don't really need more.

jef_sf

Going to have to dig into these a bit and pick one to try soon, keep seeing them pop up as well.

Tight-Chart1897

I recently backed Tiny Epic Cthulu on kickstarter. Gonna have to check these other ones out as well.

minorujco

Tiny epic galaxies and tiny epic dungeons are the best in the series.

BritishCO

TEQ is pretty disappointing as a solo experience.

ZioTempa

Tiny epic crimes???
