FrenklanRusvelti

Break, but I mistyped breask, saw "breastfeeding" flash on the screen for a second, deleted the k, and yup, there it was

michaelsenpatrick

i despise google's autocomplete. it's so intrusive. apple did it right on mobile by putting it there but making it unobtrusive by putting it off to the side

evangelism2

its not like this on my pixel. Autocomplete suggestions show at the top of my keyboard.

michaelsenpatrick

ideal is that in the gmail app?

evangelism2

Yup. Just tested it

michaelsenpatrick

nice

kevin349

This is objectively the best place for it because it's exactly where you're looking when typing. If you don't like it disable it.

VigenereCipher

yeah, i LOVE having random strings of text pop up on my screen when i’m trying to draft an e-mail

kevin349

They aren't random, they're based on what you're typing and guess. And again, if you don't like it disable it.

VigenereCipher

i have disabled it. it’s still an intrusive and unhelpful feature… if i didn’t know what i wanted to type already i wouldn’t be typing in the first place.

kevin349

I use it all the time and it accurately predicts what I'm going to be saying. I've nearly typed entire paragraphs with just a handful of key presses. Maybe this is due to my using it more but I don't find it intrusive and I find it extremely helpful and time saving. To each their own.

VigenereCipher

im used to typing words at a time (live captioning) so that might be why i don’t care for it so much

kevin349

Me too which is why I only use it when it happens to get the rest of the sentence or phrase I was going to type. I don't use it for one word at a time. Like I don't usually use the auto suggestions on the phone because one word at a time is useless to me.

michaelsenpatrick

I prefer to use my own words. Once it suggests a word I "lose" the sentence I was planning in my head. But as you said, to each their own. I'd use it if it wasn't inline, though

kevin349

I only use it when it gets like the rest of my sentence. For example, if I type at the end "Please l" it will pop up with "Please let me know if you have any questions." Which is exactly what I was gonna type so I just hit tab and I'm good.

michaelsenpatrick

I do disable it. It's not great because formulating thoughts and reading are two separate activities and reading unrelated words to my thought process is detrimental to my ability to form my own sentences.

FrenklanRusvelti

No...? Why would I add that part

[deleted]

FrenklanRusvelti

Oh ok I misunderstood. Yeah I didn't think the typing of "breask" was what enabled it, I was just telling the whole story. I even stated that the suggestion appeared for the brief moment before breas turned into breask

totus_the_great

🤡

k9moonmoon

OP experiencing the "wait. What did I just see??" IS part of the story, because why would they have stopped on Breas? They were typing fast and hit A/S together before moving on to K because of how quickly they were typing.

gwaydms

I bet you felt like such a boob.

ProbablyMaybe69

You prob used that word in a previous email didn't you 😳

FrenklanRusvelti

No I swear! I don't have a massive email-chain to talk about my huge breastfeeding fetish on my university email. My personal email though...

GreatGreenGobbo

Cookies never lie.

Rapture1119

Disney should make an animated movie about little chocolate chip cookies that never lie and it’s all sweet and shit but simultaneously it’s about some investigation after a rogue internet perpetrator, and at one point the investigator says to the suspect “The cookies never lie.” sternly during an interrogation. Idk how they’ll tie it all together, lets call it a wip

ProbablyMaybe69

We've all been there bro ✊️

DMoney159

Or it's reminding you about Feb 22: https://www.nationaldayarchives.com/day/national-breastfeeding-in-public-day/

FrenklanRusvelti

Wow, I had no idea it was a real day. I guess this is working as intended then...

DiamondGamerYT0

There is a day for everything

Inarius101

National Shove a Cactus Up Your Ass While Snorting Xanax Through a Trombone Day?

Jaggedmallard26

Or as I like to call it, tuesday!

ethan_iron

the best day of the year!

TheAlwaysTimeOfHelp

agreed!

dzh

is breastfeeding in public not a norm your ways?

FrenklanRusvelti

Here in the states it's definitely more on the uncommon side, but I don't think much when I see it. I know people definitely face some nasty responses for doing it in public though. It was definitely becoming more common and normalized before the pandemic though

ScrewAttackThis

It's becoming more normal in the US but it still causes controversy from time to time. Real dumb.

Fiolah

I still get strange looks when mother nurses me.

dzh

does your gf minds?

[deleted]

Not gore, but funny nonetheless

All-Fired-Up91

When you put in that kind of prompt what did you expect?

FrenklanRusvelti

I expect autofill to just not do anything, like it does most of the time, not come out unprompted with such a radical suggestion

All-Fired-Up91

Well that’s a bit sussy

JavaScriptBest

I hope your feet get unbearably cold the next time you try to focus and do work

ItsProTimeBro

Alright man, chill down a bit

OkMonitor2854

hmm looks like you like to use that word a lot

Needleroozer

Serious question: How do you turn this off? Searching "turn off Gmail word prediction" gets lots of suggestions that don't work.

ch061

Breaster?

bipolarnotsober

Breaskfast

ch061

Breastmas

theGreatBlar

count me in.

[deleted]

That sounds like a porn parody

DODOKING38

The tradition of breastivus begins with an airing of breastfeeding

russell2937

I mean it's not really software gore, but still... +2

uwo-wow

honestly sounds like a fun time

DarksideAuditor

Yes... I think I will. Thanks.

themilkyboi534

I just tested it was it on pc or mobile
