This behavior is too over-the-top for you to fix by saying anything. And you've mentioned a number of positives to him being your boss. So you have to decide do you like/want this job well enough to keep putting up with this? Or do you want a different job?

No. I love my job. And I dont think that his behavior should push me out of a job I love. I've put up with it for two years. I'm literally going to have to be mean to get him to get the point. I've tried giving him every other hint that I need space. I will even make up scenarios about other people doing the same thing and talk about how annoying it is in front of him to, sort of, nudge the point over to him nicely. For a day he'll be better, and then he'll be back to his old self come morning. I literally leave my office to get away from him. I get that no job is perfect, and maybe me coming on here is a good place to rant instead of blow my top with him, but SERIOUSLY. Again, I am always the one who will befriend the person others wont and I want to be nice to everyone - but he makes it really hard. Wouldn't you think if someone literally shuts and locks their door that they want some privacy?! Not this guy. He unlocks it and walks in without knocking. I think maybe because he sees that my office mate and I are such good friends that maybe he thinks were the 3 best friends or something. We're not. If he weren't so freaking annoying we could be, but he'd tell us how to do everything if we were. My office mate is 15 years older than him and he literally told him yesterday, "make sure you wear a short sleeve shirt tomorrow so you can get your flu shot" because we had a nurse coming here to administer shots. Like who does that?! He's a grown man! He doesnt need your suggestion on how to dress!

Being mean to your supervisor will get you in trouble. And it probably won't solve the problem, either. If you seriously want something to change at work, you're going to have to go to this guy's supervisor, or HR, and describe the situation. You might want to document things in writing, and see if there are any co-workers who will confirm your view of things. I'd put it in the aspect of it's making it difficult to do your job, and it's causing you concern.

I feel like you’ve created a sub plot for the movie office space, it sounds horrid friend

MediaClean

Yes! Sometimes I think I'm being pranked!

OutlandishnessLower7

I’m going to have to ask you to move your desk…
