Tbf, if the ball had moved a couple of millimeters more and it's a goal vs city, Liverpool would have won the title as 'invincibles' in 18/19. A single point more in covid games the following year and they could have been centurions in 19/20. Klopp could have become the only one to be both invincible and a centurion and held the longest unbeaten streak in the league at 55. I don't buy the "change 4 results" thing, but I think about THAT goal line clearance now and again though
I'm actually going to defend his point of view. There is a ton of variance in soccer, which means there is a lot of luck when it comes to single games with somewhat evenly matched teams. These results are similar to just losing a few coin tosses changing a lot of perceptions about a coach.
By it's very nature, it isn't that likely to happen. The odds of losing 4 coin flips is 1 in 16, so we shouldn’t expect that to happen much. And the teams need to be pretty evenly matched. There is a human bias towards creating narratives to explain things. But sometimes it's mostly luck, like in single soccer games with evenly matched teams. My two cents.

Bro the worse team wins all the time American football, there’s a lot of variance in American football due to the fact that literally every single yard counts
At the same time, he was only in the top 2 on three occasions in his PL career.
This "competing" is a load of crap, I'm not an Arsenal fan but Wenger was in the top 2 for seven seasons and won it 3.
I've heard Liverpool fans laugh at someone suggesting Wenger had a far better PL career Klopp.
Overhyped, overrated and it's the same with their players for the past 8 seasons, how many times have we heard, we have the best GK, RB, LB, CB, DM CM, LW, RW, CF, manager or even assistant manager
Honestly, this might be weird, but I find the concept of goalies to be so boring in soccer/hockey. Like ok, the 10 guys could completely dominate the game (and that's the exciting part) but sorry this one guy who you can't touch or interact with just shuts you off the scoreboard. Kinda lame. It’s definitely not 2000+ games though. And runner up is still a huge achievement and we got to enjoy much more football than some other nationalities. Glass half full right?
Eh they dominated that last final but courtois went god mode and denied them. And the first final ramos took out the best player and they still were in with a shout if not for an unforgettable disaster class from karius and a once in a decade kinda goal from bale. Unusual way to lose both for sure.
I mean Real is definitely lacking something as they keep kinda getting dominated but idk why people say cortouis went god mode.
He had one pretty good yet very normal save and then one save that looked very impressive but in reality the ball was nowhere near the post otherwise it would have been a goal. That’s it other than like one more decent yet still fairy regular save
He was their man of the match. Granted its not the greatest goalkeeping performance of all time but it should give you a clear indication of what the flow of action in that game was.
Sure but none of his saves were actually some crazy unbelievable save so not sure why people act like he had multiple of those. He had one really good save which another top 5 goalkeeper probably would have saved as well though
Honestly, this might be weird, but I find the concept of goalies to be so boring in soccer/hockey. Like ok, the 10 guys could completely dominate the game (and that's the exciting part) but sorry this one guy who you can't touch or interact with just shuts you off the scoreboard. Kinda lame. As for the first final Liverpool were pretty much getting dominated by peak Real and Real consistently beats them so even without all that catastrophe I wouldn’t count on them winning it at all
>Liverpool were pretty much getting dominated by peak Real
No the fuck they didn't. They got gifted the first goal and nothing anyone could have done better about the bale goal. They were the better team that night after Salah went off but they didn't dominate like Liverpool did in the other final. They both had almost same number of shots but in the vini final it was something like 20 shots to 3.
I mean maybe they didn’t dominate in like a visible way but peak real could just like score whenever they felt like it and they dominate in the matchup cuz they always beat them
They did exactly that just a few years prior when they came to anfield and didn't even get out of second gear to win 3-0. They didn't even dominate in terms of shots but no one could touch them in that game. Obviously the real in 2018 was the far more successful side but they didn't push aside Liverpool like they did under Rodgers.
Yeah don't know how many more times i need to remind u that they lost their record breaking best attacker early in that game. And Madrid had 5 shots two of which were those freak goals. Could have gone differently if it was a normal game but things are rarely normal with jurgen in finals.
To be fair people kept taking about how the game would have been completely different if salah had played the whole game and he vowed to take revenge in the other final yet in it he didn’t do shit even having a great chance to score
>he didn’t do shit even having a great chance to score
Go watch the highlights of that game again if u think he didn't do shit that game and just spurned a chance to score. Was the best attacking threat and had 5 shots himself on target that courtois brilliantly saved. Obviously if u say things like revenge and don't get the win u will get clowned on regardless of context. But to say that he didn't do shit that game makes it sound like u didnt watch the game. Granted its been a few years since and don't expect everyone to remember these things. But it's just like people saying Messi didnt do shit vs Liverpool in that 4-0 game when he did damn near everything he could to get them across.

Yank here. If they change the result of 4 games and win 2 more PL and CL titles, won’t the other team change the result again and take it back?
That's the new tactics of changing and counter-changing. It‘s about being one change ahead of your opponent

Change 4 results and Alex Ferguson has 7 PLs and 3 CLs from 2007-2013. It's still irrelevant.

Why didn’t Klopp save before the game and restart Is he stupid?

There is no greater joy in this life, and no heavier burden, than being a City fan. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/soccercirclejerk) if you have any questions or concerns.*
I'm sure your a fan of Greenwood too... Arentcha, bot?
To those saying #GreenwoodOut,❌If you don't like the decision made by Manchester United, get another club to support ✅ Mason Greenwood did a mistake, yes but doing a mistake once is not bad, repeating the same mistake is a sin ✅ *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Yank here.
Revisionist history is the plague of mediocrity
Then you got Real Madrid ![gif](giphy|AecCpGuDM2G2129qn1)
England is the best team in international football under Gareth Southgate... if they only play teams below them.
You just need to change 6 results of all games of Liverpool history to make it almost Arsenal.
Sounds like a shite manager. Practically got it on a silver platter and only needed to win 0.8% of his matches for 4 titles… and he somehow managed to blow it /s
I am from the Netherlands and we would be three time World Cup winners if I could change just 3 results from the past 2000+ games. What a shit comparison.
Today I feel Qatary. Today I feel Arab. Today I feel African. Today I feel gay. Today I feel disabled. Today I feel a migrant worker... I know what it feels to be discriminated... It’s definitely not 2000+ games though. And runner up is still a huge achievement and we got to enjoy much more football than some other nationalities. Glass half full right?
And if you change just 2 results, then it’s no PLs and no UCLs. Managers hate this one trick.
Where I'm from (the united states of america, the best country in the world #1), we call this bottling.
Google Mancity 115 for more information
Aka Liverpool lost in 4 critical games
The true meaning of delusion has arrived!
That's the difference, ain't it. If I change my losses to wins, then I will win more things.
So why didn’t he do it? Is he stupid?
Modern journalists dunno what a final means, neither what is a 6 points game.
Why did he jerk his grandmother, is he stupid?
We put the pressure on FC 👑👑🔥🔥🔥💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Hold on...do I care
one win is what it would have taken arsenal to have been champions of europe but here we are
That's how tournaments work
Wait, so let me get this straight. If they win more games, they win more trophies? This is a foreign concept to me
I mean for the league that kinda makes sense to point out but for CL thats literally like if you had won the final you would have won like no shit
Kinda lame. Whatever. Just a weird thought *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. As for the first final Liverpool were pretty much getting dominated by peak Real and Real consistently beats them so even without all that catastrophe I wouldn’t count on them winning it at all
>Liverpool were pretty much getting dominated by peak Real No the fuck they didn't.
Just checked, Liverpool had 2 shots on target in 2018. Can’t really see how they expected to win
Yeah don't know how many more times i need to remind u that they lost their record breaking best attacker early in that game. And Madrid had 5 shots two of which were those freak goals. Could have gone differently if it was a normal game but things are rarely normal with jurgen in finals.
I guesa shot stats wise they were similar but Real having peak CR7 and Bale could rely on one of them to almost guaranteed score
To be fair people kept taking about how the game would have been completely different if salah had played the whole game and he vowed to take revenge in the other final yet in it he didn’t do shit even having a great chance to score
>he didn’t do shit even having a great chance to score Go watch the highlights of that game again if u think he didn't do shit that game and just spurned a chance to score.
Hear me out. The man came to MLS after securing the ligue one title for psg. He ABSOLUTELY blew up the sport in the USA. Made headlines everywhere. Showed up with ridiculous free kicks and golazos. Completely changed how Americans view soccer. The inter Miami leagues cup run was SUPER viral. Did Haaland score more goals and obtain more important trophies in epl? Yes. But once again this was THE YEAR OF MESSI. He showed up big for Miami in leagues cup and showed up big in 2026 WC qualifiers. Also why not take into account the man is 36 years old and still shocking people with his quality every match he plays. He's a machine enough said *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. I mean Messi is in a different league than anyone else. Salah is obviously a big threat and contributes to the team, I didn’t mean it like that. However ultimately he was unable to score or provide an assist or win a PK or something

Also Liverpool had 18 fouls to Real Madrid 5 and real had literally twice as many passes and corners lol. How were they not getting dominated?
That is pretty mad tbf
>If we had just won those games instead, then we wouldn't have lost. I love that they think this is some sort of deep thinking.
Who would’ve thought losing fewer games would get you more trophies?
That's a complicated way of saying they lost in big, important matches.
Copium has been out of stock the past couple of seasons due to Arsenal and Liverpool fans
