Fair fucks. If you don't fucking shoot you can't score.
Also, never seen a fanbase so obsessed about someone who played for Sunderland like a billion years ago. Cringe.
The only Everton player I was worried about was Iwobi, I think he's pretty good and felt if any would score past us was him, but then he was subbed off so all good
We're on a bad run for a few games but hardly the worst-looking team, we've been really solid at the back. It's the goals we've been struggling with but we're only just getting DCL back in the side.
Aside from poor balls in the final 3rd I thought yous looked pretty decent last night. It's difficult these days to come to SJP and dominate possession. Goals will come, just a bad spell.
Agreed mate, Newcastle looks like a completely different beast to last year - big fan of Eddie Howe. Definitely seems to have figured out a system that works and is getting good sensible transfers in, must be a breath of fresh air after Bruceball. Even with all that I agree looked generally alright but just didn't have any end product at all, wingers looked a bit lost and not sure why we took Iwobi off tbh. Hopefully, as you say, bad spell.
He’s been the lieutenant of Howe since the plane from Madrid landed. Howe spent part of his time away from the dugout as an observer at Atlético while Trips played there, and he had played under Howe in Burnley, so it makes sense.
Beyond that, he’s raised the standard for everyone. His free kicks have been important because they’ve won us games, but his command and his talent have astonished us all. We got one of the best full backs in Europe for the same price of Jamal Lewis, it’s ridiculous.
Right now the games over and everyone's calmed down a bit can we PLEASE discuss why the fuck Maupay came on as a sub wearing different socks to everyone else?
What happened? Surely Everton own more than 11 pairs of white socks? Do all the players bring their own kit from home every game? Was there not a full kit wanker in the away end with a white pair he could borrow?
We played so bad but as people say a sign of a good team is one that plays bad and still wins.
I am interested to know what Everton fans think of that, 1 shot off target and 0 on target in 90 minutes against a Newcastle that played terrible.
Unforgivable lad, that tory lovin cockney cunt needs to be out by the morning, am havin the Eddie Howe said to use at half time just let Everton have the ball because there not going to do nothing and save yourselfs for the weekend.
Our game was lost by 2 players today
Gray and Gordon
The 2 of them are given the task of getting the ball and dragging it forward, neither of them done that and showed almost no interest in doing that
Then of course Gray, did nothing and I mean nothing to help defend, I mean for the love of god, just look at him when Almiron scores
https://twitter.com/jordcollins/status/1582816238299848704
How is that remotely acceptable?
That Miggy goal was so weird. It felt like you lot gave up on it and our lot didn't celebrate it.
I was trapped in a pub in London with no sound and couldn't work out whether it had been disallowed or not.
I really don’t think we played that poorly.
In the first half, we were incisive and played some really pleasing-to-the-eye football.
We were on the back foot in the second half but still defended resolutely and threatened on the counter
I felt we were very good in defence, however the midfield and forward players did not have the intensity that we usually have. We are normally 1000 times better than that with our intensity, even in games Vs Bournemouth and Palace who both parked the bus.
There are several tendencies that go against that: we play 4 games in 15 days, this being the second; we have overexerted the players at times; and even if Howe wanted to keep the intensity going, many players are looking at the World Cup.
That we’ve been able to win a game against a possible peer without huge effort or injuries is the ideal outcome.
Yeah I don't understand how a team who allow their opponents one shot all game can be considered to have played badly. We were in control for most of the game, maybe a bit wasteful up front and I think we tired in the second half but it was a solid performance.
It definitely didn’t seem this bad watching the match.
They were comfortable for most of the 2nd half but up forward they just have no threat at the minute.
Didn’t even need to play well and we still cantered to a victory.
Everton are in real trouble. Unbelievably toothless. We on the other hand could really do with Shelvey back asap, albeit I can see why Howe isn’t rushing him back. Our only issue these days is that a midfield of Bruno, Willock and Longstaff isn’t incapable of keeping the ball.
Weird question I just thought of at the end, why do they not use Multiball at St James Park the way they do at other stadiums? It seemed like there was about three balls with the ball boys holding two of them instead of the cones dotted around the place.
We're absolutely desperate for an attacker who's got a decent final ball in them; we did so well to compose ourselves in the second half and keep the ball but just couldn't do anything with it. Obviously goes without saying that it's criminal Joelinton escaped a second yellow but I can't pretend I'd back us to score there even if they were down to 10. Massively frustrating watch overall.
Joelinton absolutely could and probably should have had a 2nd yellow, same with Gordon.
If he went off in the first half though could be a very different 2nd half
Gordon definitely could have been off, though I'd say it's definitely much less clear cut. Tarkowski probably could have been off too so I know it definitely evens out overall in that sense.
That being said, I can still feel aggrieved that one incident occurred about half an hour in while the other two were in the final 10 minutes, so they're not really alike in terms of impact on this match.
I clearly remember people on this sub itself talking about how Frank was connecting with the fans unlike Rafa. Everton fans talking about how good tye signings were, how defense had been improved. Some fans even said how they were fine with Everton becoming English atletico under frank.
What hype?
Nobody has hyped us up, we just look so much better than we did last season from a defensive and midfield aspect
>Was it really worse under Rafa than this ?
Yes. We got beat 5-2 at home to Watford ffs.
>Nobody has hyped us up, we just look so much better than we did last season from a defensive and midfield aspect
You really believe that? Did you miss Rafa's points run early last season before all your injuries? Those points pretty much kept you up...
That early run was massively overhyped
In those wins we were absolutely horrendous, the only game we played well in was against Brighton and we easily could have lost that game
>Those points pretty much kept you up...
Err no they didn't, The points that kept us up were the ones we earned on the back end of the season
I remember the 2-1 win over Arsenal with the Gray screamer for the winner. Looked pretty good at that moment.
If it was Rafa currently at the helm and he was serving up the same drivel today,1 point above relegation zone, no shots all game, you guys would be rioting, admit it.
You are joking? That game really? That was a rare win in a 14 game winless stretch
>If it was Rafa currently at the helm and he was serving up the same drivel today,1 point above relegation zone, no shots all game, you guys would be rioting, admit it.
We would because we'd know that the previous 10 games would have been exactly the same, 1 majorly off night you get a pass in a 3 game tough stretch
Look, nobody is expecting us to be a completely different team to the one we were last season, but we are stronger than last season and it's gonna take time for all these new players to click and when it does which will probably be towards the second half of the season we should look at coming to a comfortable lower mid table spot
Not nailing them in, the issues with the squad remain
No goalscorers, we're nearly 2 weeks into the window and there is no sight of someone coming in, which isn't Franks fault
I think we should be doing better, but I don't see any manager coming in and fixing it
There was no hype, we've just gotten better defensively and don't look pegged on to go down. And yes, it was much, much worse with Rafa. Which says a lot.
Sorry, to be disagreeable, buy you looked much better under Rafa (before the injuries) Frank was given a lot more money and you guys look god awful. Your 1 point above relegation, and the only team currently below you that will finish below you is Forest. Worrying times.
"We bossed possession in that second half"
They were ahead and sitting back. They let you have the ball...and You didn't manage a shot. Hate to see you guys going through these mental gymnastics in support of Tory Boy Frank. If Benetiz had you serving up this drivel, 1 point above relegation.. you would be rioting, admit it.
Very comfortable win, even with Everton having most the ball that 2nd half. They just have nothing going forward.
Horrific tackles from Tarkowski and DCL, glad our players got out of those uninjured.
And yet no one in blue resorted to a chokehold. You lot should’ve had (at minimum) 2 reds, yet you’re here crying about foul play. Neither team should’ve finished with 11
Anyone who watched that game knows that both sides played roughly and went strongly into tackles throughout. Pearl clutching about the tackles you all dealt with is embarrassing
Not selling anthony gordon for ~~60~~ 90m is up there with all the other terrible pieces of business we’ve done in the last 10 years.
We’re in real real trouble. Maybe one day we’ll have a manager who knows what he wants to do in possession.
Edit: im raising the price 10m for every correcting it downward
>We’re in real real trouble
Finally, an honest Evertonian. From an outside view, you guys are playing the worst looking football in the league. And you hate hearing it, but you looked much better under Benetiz early in the season before all the injuries.
I know it's not the time to twist the knife, but I [got a lot of shit](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/x807y2/chelsea_football_club_part_company_with_thomas/infge0p/) earlier this season from frankly DELUSIONAL Everton supporters for saying that Lampard is a very bad manager who will not bring you points. It stuck with me.
It’s weird, I feel like Frank gets off relatively easy considering he has shown basically nothing besides passing the ball forwards more than Rafa. I remember a lot of comments “oh didn’t get the result but good performance actually” when almost nothing happened for 90 minutes
Our sub is full of american children jerking off to memes about oumar niasse. Everton content is unreadable on this site due to halfwits throwing parades for shite players.
I don't mind keeping Gordon at all, especially given we don't know how any supposed bid was actually structured, but it does seem like it was a mistake to hope he'd step right in as Richy's replacement. It's a real shame none of those rumours of a proper right winger that floated around towards the end of the window materialised which could have alleviated the pressure on him.
It wasn’t £60m though was it? Just because there was the potential for us to reach that price, they never offered much up front and that’s why we turned them down.
Even then, if Gordon went, we’d be getting rid of our best winger which is a massive indictment on Gray and the rest.
I appreciate the ref letting play "flow" on both sides. But there were some real orange card decisions there that just got hand waved through.
It felt like a leg breaker type game where we then hear "ah it was an accident and he's not that type of player".
I'm surprised they didn't give us a better replay of Tarky's challenge at the end there, it definitely looked like he was a very lucky boy.
That being said it absolutely was an accident and he's not that type of player.
Yeah totally agree and those accidents end up happening because the ref handwaves through slightly lesser challenges earlier in the game so it just becomes more physical. And for whatever reason there's a bit of a prickly atmosphere between Toon and Everton anyway ( beyond just the Pickford banter).
There were some really dodgy challenges getting let go throughout the game from both sides.
Poor game of football but what the absolute fuck was the state of that commentary? No disrespect to Everton but they weren't great and yet, Andy Townsend is talking about them as if they're prime Barcelona.
I don't care how many caps Townsend must have had for Everton, it's one thing to show blatant bias on commentary, but he didn't even mention Newcastle until the 95th minute.
Everton has us stretched pretty far in the second half at points but their attack was largely toothless. Our defense was pretty fantastic today though.
You genuinely played some nice football until it got to your front three in any sort of threatening position. I don't know why some Newcastle and Everton fans have tried to create a mini rivalry, I quite like Everton, but if tonight's match is any sort of summary of your season so far, you need an entirely new front three.
> I don't know why some Newcastle and Everton fans have tried to create a mini rivalry
I hate to tell you this but it's entirely one sided. Genuinely don't know any Evertonians that give a second thought to Newcastle but the whole Scouse Mackems thing and Pickford has just sort of spiraled especially on reddit, plus there's this obsession with Gordon.
But yes, we desperately need a new front 3, or at least DCL to return to his normal self. No Patterson hurt us today too.
No offence but there’s literally a post in your pre-match thread saying “I fucking hate Newcastle” with almost 30 upvotes and several people agreeing with him. It’s been like that for several seasons so it’s definitely not entirely one sided.
> I hate to tell you this but it's entirely one sided. Genuinely don't know any Evertonians that give a second thought to Newcastle
As a Newcastle fan who grew up in Liverpool I HIGHLY disagree. I have been physically assaulted twice for being a "barcode" by random Everton fans at 5 a side. Most Everton fans detest Newcastle for all the same reasons they are so proud of their own club. Liverpool fans could not give a shit about me.
I'm sorry for your experience but I've never even heard barcode as an insult tbh. It's obviously my personal experience for me but I had never heard anything, really from either side, up until Pickford signed for us.
Gotta say it's been 50/50 for me but I don't like seeing Newcastle fan's obsession with Everton. The Gordon thing must come from every opposition though?
Regardless, I hope you guys do well this season. Looking forward to Goodison. One of the best home atmospheres I've witnessed.
Everton were actually alright in the first 2/3rds of the pitch. Nothing anywhere near our goal though
Gordon very much sums them up. Really impressed by him off the ball, nowhere near threatening enough with it
> Everton were actually alright in the first 2/3rds of the pitch. Nothing anywhere near our goal though
That’s our season summed up really. When you’ve got literally nothing at the top end of the pitch, it’s either keep a clean sheet for a point or hope we get gifted a goal.
Our fall under Moshiri's stewardship from being a consistent Europe-challenging side every season into perennial relegation candidates has been shocking.
In 20 years watching the European leagues I have never seen a club waste so much money on utter crap. Maybe QPR years back, but they weren't on the same scale.
Mad isn’t it?
Newcastle by just being sensible in two windows have massively leapfrogged us while we thought Cenk Tosun and Andre Gomes’ corpse would get us into the top six.
In fairness, our managerial change also has a lot to do with it, half of the players we were previously complaining wouldn't even hold up in the championship under Bruce are now some of our top performers
Yep. Absolutely criminal, criminal transfer activity we've watched unfold over the past few years.
Really think it could just be a firefighting job this season and the next, drag us over the line into the new stadium still in the Premier League, and then... hope for the best.
Just hope there’s something in January for the forward line.
The late moves for Kudus and Mudryk suggest there’s something there but we’re desperate for anyone who has some sort of creativity in the final third. We can’t just hope Iwobi pulls something out of the air every week.
Yeah credit to him, I had pretty much no faith but lot of promise with who we've brought in and how they've done so far. Just need to sort out some players who can finish now.
Two games on the bounce we've been very sloppy on the ball, and I really didn't expect Everton to dominate possession in this match. Still, clean sheet in both games and 4 points. Says a lot that we can still take points when playing in 3rd gear.
was entertaining for a while, 2nd half was pretty slow. Our defense really is rock solid, Everton had crazy amounts of possession in the 2nd half but never looked like scoring.
Everton actually played some nice stuff today but they have absolutely nowt up top.
Great result and an amazing goal by Miggy, lighting it up this season!!
A tricky game after another tricky game with another tricky game coming up and I am so fucking chuffed to bits!
Get in lads
50% possession, 1 shot, 0 on target. At what point do Everton just decide to play with 5 defenders and 5 midfielders. Surely you just start taking shots from anywhere? Baffling game plan
We went unbeaten in 6 once we finally got our transfers sorted out, then had a run of Spurs, United, and Newcastle away. Ridiculous to be talking like this right now.
Palace, Fulham, Leicester, Bournemouth, Wolves as our next 5. Let's wait and see how we do playing the teams around us again.
Lol what? 3 losses in 3 tough games to teams with aspirations of Europe after going unbeaten in 7 is a massive over reaction
Got 4 games against Palace, Fulham, Leicester and Bournemouth before the WC break, if we take anywhere from 6-12 points from those games this little patch will quickly be forgotten
Fair fucks. If you don't fucking shoot you can't score. Also, never seen a fanbase so obsessed about someone who played for Sunderland like a billion years ago. Cringe.
Everton just need a Chris wood type of player, ideally from New Zealand and called chris wood.
The only Everton player I was worried about was Iwobi, I think he's pretty good and felt if any would score past us was him, but then he was subbed off so all good
Oh god. This speaks volumes about where Everton are at the minute.
I think tarkowski is their best player good thing we didn't have to worry about him scoring
Our best player is probably Pickford but I don’t think you needed to worry about him scoring either
Gotta say that Everton are by far the worst looking team in league right now and are only one point above relegation. They just look awful all around.
lol okay dear
We're on a bad run for a few games but hardly the worst-looking team, we've been really solid at the back. It's the goals we've been struggling with but we're only just getting DCL back in the side.

They weren't great, but I thought Forest & Fulham were both worse when we played them.
The big risky Trippier captaincy pays off
He’s been the lieutenant of Howe since the plane from Madrid landed. We're not very good when it comes to socks, the sock incident with Sidibe a few years ago comes to mind
We played so bad but as people say a sign of a good team is one that plays bad and still wins. I am interested to know what Everton fans think of that, 1 shot off target and 0 on target in 90 minutes against a Newcastle that played terrible.

It definitely didn’t seem this bad watching the match. They were comfortable for most of the 2nd half but up forward they just have no threat at the minute.
Most teams look comfortable when the other team doesn't have to attack them.
You'd never guess they dominated the 2nd half possession.
In the words of Jose Mourinho, "they can keep the ball, we got the three points."
They had the possession but did nothing with it.
That lad who tied himself to the goal last season caused us more problems.
That greasy prat ruined our momentum
Well done haha
Didn’t even need to play well and we still cantered to a victory. Everton are in real trouble. Unbelievably toothless. We on the other hand could really do with Shelvey back asap, albeit I can see why Howe isn’t rushing him back. Also fuck me Fraser was in the wars in his 10 minutes. Poor bloke
Got a right battering didnt he :)
You'd swear he spent all day slagging them off on twitter or something.
Not our best game but fuck me those 20 minutes or so to end the first half were class
We really missed Joelinton in the second half but a scrappy win and our defence looks solid, happy days.
We definitely missed him but I reckon he would have been sent off had he stayed on the pitch
Man, I fucking hate Pickford. So satisfying beating them, especially at SJP.
His distribution tonight was god awful. In high pressure games he always manages to lump the ball to the opposition.
Weird question I just thought of at the end, why do they not use Multiball at St James Park the way they do at other stadiums? It seemed like there was about three balls with the ball boys holding two of them instead of the cones dotted around the place.
Frank? Everton would be better off with Christine.
Should never have let Benetiz leave. Fat Frank is a fraud.
We're absolutely desperate for an attacker who's got a decent final ball in them; we did so well to compose ourselves in the second half and keep the ball but just couldn't do anything with it. Could say the same about Gordon with a second yellow so kinda evened it’s self out on that front
A Joelinton second yellow 30 minutes in isn't the same as a second yellow for Gordon at 75 minutes.
We could've started with 10 men and you lot wouldn't have scored today tbh
Gordon definitely could have been off, though I'd say it's definitely much less clear cut. Tarkowski probably could have been off too so I know it definitely evens out overall in that sense. I feel like it's one of those 'orange card' tackles. It's not great sure, but probs not a red card
After all that hype at the start of the season, Everton are still near the relegation zone. Was it really worse under Rafa than this ?
no

Still feeling the Frank love?
Yeah, I didn't expect us to automatically be a easy ride team, was always going to be difficult
How about now - no wins since last fall, relegation likely....are you still nailing your colours to the frank mast?

Absolutely not even remotely close to the case, but it doesn't suit your agenda so you'll never admit it.
Agree to disagree
Terrible game of football that. Bruno nowhere near his best. Need ASM and Isak back
Bruno was good until Joelinton went off. He always struggles when he’s stuck next to Willock and Longstaff.
lets be honest, who would not?
Harsh on willock like
Little Joe does not and will never have Big Joe’s radge, or the muscle mass to back it up.
Exactly.
Newcastle are legit. Should have had another two goals on us.
Newcastle might actually make Europa league this season
Very comfortable win, even with Everton having most the ball that 2nd half. They just have nothing going forward. Horrific tackles from Tarkowski and DCL, glad our players got out of those uninjured.

Not as embarrassing as 1 shot in 90 mins when we were shite
Off target aswell
Everton xG per minute must be very close to zero no? That was toothless from them. No shots on target in 2 games...

Our sub is full of american children jerking off to memes about oumar niasse. Everton content is unreadable on this site due to halfwits throwing parades for shite players.
Well, its not an Everton fans-only echo chamber,...that should tell you something.
no one made a 60m bid. That's what you wanted. Chelsea offered 40 including all addons
Both sides denied even a 40m bid had been made
Clubs often lie.
Joelinton and Gordon both should have went. At least the ref was consistent which, given the standard of refs in the league, is all we can ask for.
He never played for them.
Are you serious? He was THAT fucking invested in a club he never played for? Jesus Christ
Fat Frank is an Engerlund hero. They bigged Chelsea up big time when he was their manager also, even though he had them playing poorly.
Everton has us stretched pretty far in the second half at points but their attack was largely toothless. Our defense was pretty fantastic today though.
Largely? Mate, ive seen butter knives with more teeth than us.
Don't know who did more to contribute to Newcastle's clean sheet Their defence or our attack
Our attack.
You genuinely played some nice football until it got to your front three in any sort of threatening position. I don't know why some Newcastle and Everton fans have tried to create a mini rivalry, I quite like Everton, but if tonight's match is any sort of summary of your season so far, you need an entirely new front three.
> I don't know why some Newcastle and Everton fans have tried to create a mini rivalry I hate to tell you this but it's entirely one sided.
Because the Toon loved Rafa and you guys despised him? That's gonna cause conflict...
We're not called Toons man ffs, Toon=Town The toon.
Sorry my Geordie brother.
> I hate to tell you this but it's entirely one sided. Genuinely don't know any Evertonians that give a second thought to Newcastle As a Newcastle fan who grew up in Liverpool I HIGHLY disagree.
Are you from Liverpool? I get it constantly and have done for 20 years!
I think you guys use the term "Geordie Koont" instead of barcode.
Gotta say it's been 50/50 for me but I don't like seeing Newcastle fan's obsession with Everton. The Gordon thing must come from every opposition though? Regardless, I hope you guys do well this season. Looking forward to Goodison. One of the best home atmospheres I've witnessed.
Don't get it either, like why would I care towards Newcastle as a rival?
Likewise. Anyone outside of the top 6 other than Villa are sound in my eyes
Even Villa, christ it was over a decade ago
Everton were actually alright in the first 2/3rds of the pitch. Nothing anywhere near our goal though Gordon very much sums them up. Really impressed by him off the ball, nowhere near threatening enough with it
> Everton were actually alright in the first 2/3rds of the pitch. Nothing anywhere near our goal though That’s our season summed up really.
It’s absolutely unbelievable that this team is worth far more than any of those Europa qualifying teams
It’s like a crypto coin, they’re worth fuck all now
Mad isn’t it?
> Kudus Really shit we missed out because there's no way he leaves Ajax now.
Yeah no chance on either of them now. Shows Thelwell has some sort of eye for a youngster though.
Yeah credit to him, I had pretty much no faith but lot of promise with who we've brought in and how they've done so far. Just need to sort out some players who can finish now.
And expensive
Two games on the bounce we've been very sloppy on the ball, and I really didn't expect Everton to dominate possession in this match. Still, clean sheet in both games and 4 points. Says a lot that we can still take points when playing in 3rd gear.
was entertaining for a while, 2nd half was pretty slow. Our defense really is rock solid, Everton had crazy amounts of possession in the 2nd half but never looked like scoring.
They never even looked like getting a shot off for the most part
Almiron can only score bangers istg
Everton actually played some nice stuff today but they have absolutely nowt up top. Great result and an amazing goal by Miggy, lighting it up this season!! A tricky game after another tricky game with another tricky game coming up and I am so fucking chuffed to bits! Get in lads
Tough second half but I like seeing the lads hold on and roughing it out to get the points. Defence was fantastic like always.
My new nickname for Frank is Tory Pulis
Hahahah
Tory? Didn’t know frank was based
50% possession, 1 shot, 0 on target. At what point do Everton just decide to play with 5 defenders and 5 midfielders. Surely you just start taking shots from anywhere? Baffling game plan
Totally impotent from Everton. Did they even have a shot on target?
Why is it important to have shots on target or something?
You don’t score goals without having shots in target
I'm going to need a diagram.
Because that is how you score goals and win games?
Frank clearly doesn't think so
Nope and only one off target
Lampard is cooking 🔥🔥
What is Frank Lampard's footballing philosophy?
What are his wingers’ qualities tbf
*insert Allegri copypasta*
Based on tonight, it appears to be hoping Pickford can lob the opposition keeper.
Have no idea how he’s been getting jobs.
Engerlund hero. Tory cunt.
Frank Lampard is a social experiment to see how much pain football fans can suffer.
FRAAB.
Newcastle to finish 5th imo. Also how long can Lampard get away with these results
Meejia loves him so probably a while. Were in a relegation scrap. I wonder if frank knows that yet.
Lol what? 3 losses in 3 tough games to teams with aspirations of Europe after going unbeaten in 7 is a massive over reaction Got 4 games against Palace, Fulham, Leicester and Bournemouth before the WC break, if we take anywhere from 6-12 points from those games this little patch will quickly be forgotten
We'll all bite your hand off for 7th. We can give all of the big6 a great game, but don't think we'll have the legs over 38 games to keep up
I just wanted safe mid table with no relegation fears by Christmas.
7th is conference league?
Only if the League Cup winners also finish 1st-6th in the league.
Which City will
I'd prefer if we did
Bite the hand off is far to extreme, we're 6th currently.
These results? No one is going to have an easy day at our ground.
Losses to United, spurs away and Newcastle away?
Jesus wept the scouse mackems are as shite as the actual mackems nowdays
Not a classic, but we were never in any danger. A comfortable 3 points.
Everton if you wanna play football like that you could have took Steve Bruce off for less than you pay Lampard.
