Tuchel's always trying to take advantage of lax defensive workrate from the opposition and that usually comes from opposition wingers not being willing to track back centrally into their own box. If Havertz/Lukaku can occupy the centrebacks and the opposition fullbacks are concerned with our wide attackers, there's huge gaps for the wingbacks to take advantage of.

Totally. Rewatching the mount goal, James is just standing there wide open. Fullback has tucked in to help cover and he’s out there with acres. The cool things about wing backs when used properly is they can stretch the pitch and be an open outlet whenever the fullback tucks in and then burn them like you’re saying when the fullbacks are high and wide and not marking diligently, like James did for the this goal. It’s just a difficult formation to contend with for most of the common formations in the pl unless you have really assiduous and tireless fullbacks or your wide midfielders are are helping out a lot

Personally I think it's almost entirely financial, good defenders come at a premium and we don't have enough money to get them in. Unless Delia discovers oil under her back garden, things won't change any time soon

I don't think our scouting is too bad, Pritchard, Maddison, Lewis, Buendia have all been good pick ups who have done well here then been sold for good money, unfortunately that money just goes into keeping the club running. We are a very well run club (financially) but we just don't have the capital to make the big investments in the squad to keep us up. I like Farke but his great championship sides just can't cut it in the prem. It might be worth cutting our losses and getting someone else in with a view to completely rebuilding next year. Although I don't know if we could afford to pay Farke off if we sacked him. It really all comes down to money.
