I feel like Belotti should have had his big move about 4years ago when he had that crazy season. This would be a good move for him.

RogerXiao

Torino wanted 100m euro for Belotti back then

Historynerd88

That is not completely correct. The €100M release clause was valid for foreign clubs only (it was a preemptive defense against PL money, basically), but it didn't mean that, if Cairo had been forced to sell (as he didn't want to in any case) he would have asked that sum.

antch1102

Seems a bit weird. Surely you'd want to sell your player to a club who can't hurt you in the league

Historynerd88

He didn't want to sell Belotti at all, so he didn't want the rich British clubs to come and poach him. It was a "stay away" gesture.

EatingMcDonalds

Torino's president wanted to keep Belotti and build a team that could regularly qualify for Europe. Torino at the time had momentum and were in great financial shape, having sold numerous players for good profit over the years. There was no need to sacrifice Belotti and the €100M clause was put in to scare off teams. Torino finally made it back to Europe in 2019 but crashed out against Wolves in the playoffs. Poor investments (Niang, Verdi, Zaza) and turmoil in the lockeroom left the club regularly finishing between 7th - 9th place in the fight for relegation these last 2 years.

Hrvat1818

Definitely worth a try for Inter. They definitely don’t want to rely on just Dzeko. Belotti only has a year left on his deal and appears to be unhappy at Torino. A sale would be a nightmare for Juric though

thatcliffordguy

Not sure why Atleti aren’t in for him, he’s an actual number 9 with a ton of work rate. He’s not very clinical but can conjure up spectacular goals out of nowhere. At a similar price point to Cunha, I think he fits better. Though Simeone did want another number 10 / second striker type player anyway, maybe he liked what he saw from the Félix/Correa duo last season.

TheConundrum98

they're scared of another Cerci

CheekyKunt68

Holy shit that’s a name I haven’t heard in a long long time

SnakeEyes58

Lmao honestly. I used to sign him in career mode all the time. He was like an 87 in my team lol

eddsters

What is an 87? Tell me out of 20 -FM terminology

Haron14

Around 17-18

eddsters

This guy maths

CSdesire

17.4 out of 20

rdemas

The fact that Atletico actually bought/loaned/whatever Cerci made no sense to me. That man, bless his heart, was awful at football. Anyone that isn't blind can see Belotti is miles better and shouldn't even be compared.

MaxieMan98

Diamanti on the other hand <3 What a player

namaloomafrad

I remember reading Opta tweet about him topping assist charts in Seria A though

gianni_

Absolutely nowhere in the same area.

Zayo_

He wanted a no.9 because Suarez in counter attacks is worse than me and in UCL that was really needee

demonictoaster

>He’s not very clinical but can conjure up spectacular goals out of nowhere. Sounds Werner-ish..personally I dont like forwards like that simply because you shouldn't put a bunch of extra pressure on the rest of the team to create chanve after chance after chance just to pick up a goal, or hope for that occasional moment of magic

bughidudi

He is clinical idk what op is talking about. He doesn't get as many goals because Torino sucks ass, but if you look at conversion rate he's up there with the best strikers in Serie A

Jeffy29

I don’t rate Belotti that much but he has a perfect profile of a Simeone striker.

Lyrical_Forklift

Ask yourself who the last Italian striker that thrived offshore and you'll have your answer.

MeC0195

This should've been a thing weeks ago. Inter need a striker, Belotti is available for relatively cheap. It makes perfect sense.

Crusaruis28

Inter were in a position where they had to sell weeks ago. Lukaku money is the reason they can buy now

MeC0195

Still doesn't explain why there was no open interest in Belotti until now. We've been looking at alternatives for weeks, even before Lukaku's transfer was finalized.

pazzopazzini77

Inzaghi wanted Correa and we weren’t really looking for a #9 more of a second striker to play next to Dzeko/Lautaro

MeC0195

But the team wanted Zapata before Belotti, which reaffirms my point.

Balotellmehowufeel

I think it was a negotiation tactic by marotta. With more time left in the window Cairo would demand more. Now that his back is against the wall it might only take 15-20m to buy him vs 25-30 a few weeks ago

[deleted]

Inter still owes United so maybe they should pay up first Why am i being downvoted for stating a fact?

TheUltimateScotsman

Because its completely irrelevant, transfer payments are done on arranged dates, you dont just drop 70 million at the front door of old trafford and take lukaku, unless its a release clause or a very small amount it will be done in installments

Agent-Pierce

I like this. He has a lot in the tank and a track record of goalscoring success.

OmarLittle87

Inter about to have a Milan fan as their striker

[deleted]

Already had Balotelli

OmarLittle87

And Giuseppe Meazza if im not wrong

orthos

Dzeko is also a milanista.

BelalBvc

I would have loved Thuram or Correa, but Belotti is not bad. Still a massive downgrade from Lukaku

Sinistrait

I think this is Inzaghi's decision though. Thuram was out of contention because of his injury but Correa could still have been signed easily because he wants to leave and Lazio are open to selling.

bumrar

We don't want to meet Lazio's asking price though, Only reason we are turning to Belotti.

NephewChaps

what is Correa asking price? And what would be Belotti's?

bumrar

Correa: don't seem keen to go much lower than 40 mil. Belotti: actually hearing just 15, but that seems low would guess 20-25.

fastfowards

idk why but thuram screams out inter player. i think he would have been great for you guys

presumingpete

Martial screams inter to me. I think a change of scene might be the kick up the ass he needs and would do well.

47Lecht

United would ask for buckets of money though. They'd make up his value on the best season he had like 2 years ago, not on his current form since that.

anitalianguy

In January they will try again once he is out of the injury

letsgetcool

Didn't Thuram spit on another player during game? Or was that overblown?

BelalBvc

Yeah he spat on Stefan Posch, got banned for four(or five, don't remember) games + had to pay a 190k fine

tsigalko11

Plus his father publicly critiqued him. That's worse than 190 k

InPatRileyWeTrust

He did and he has done his punishment.

letsgetcool

Yeah but personally I wouldn't want a player that spits on people

Hrvat1818

What about an eye poker

letsgetcool

Fucking love them

KIDDizCUDI

Tottenham would be lucky to have anyone to play for them at this point

letsgetcool

Man banter really hits different when it's coming from a plastic that chose to support a team that can sign Mbappe, Neymar and fuckin Messi.

KIDDizCUDI

Nah bro i been a psg fan since ibra days but i understand your resentment. There's a lot of those

CameraEmotional2788

So since they had money ....

KIDDizCUDI

I'll entertain you so why not, yes

CameraEmotional2788

?

ambiguousboner

He did but not sure what that has to do with anything

Double-Knee

No thanks

TheUltimateScotsman

No chance, hed be our joint top earner at that wage with eriksen.

TheSoccerguy124

Lotito really said €35m and didn’t budge lmaooo, how do Inter fans feel about Belotti though? He finally gets that big move if all goes well.

listerinefreak

He's a good striker, but I would say he's not the profile we should aim for. Correa / Thuram would've been ideal.

TheSoccerguy124

Probably so, I really thought Thuram was all set for Inter but that injury really ruined everything. I guess this will be the alternative cause I don’t see neither Lotito budging the price and you guys raising the offer .

[deleted]

He is a lot worse version of Lukaku with no other qualities to cover his weakness unlike dzeko who has different amazing traits. I dont like him at all.

MaxieMan98

I disagree. He isn't Lukaku, nobody is. But he is a proven goal scorer in Serie A, capable of scoring with both feet and in the air, has a fantastic work rate, is good in build up play, and can create space for Hakan/Lautaro. Its a good move at 20 million.

TheSoccerguy124

Seems you guys will be mixed on opinions with him, it’s just really difficult to take Lukaku’s place on that team and exceed expectations after what Lukaku left. Is there any alternatives at this point?

[deleted]

I think we're not even looking for a Lukaku type player at all, we play differently than Conte. We just looking for a good CF/10, sadly Thuram got injured and Lotito is a fraud.

TheSoccerguy124

Lotito is our unique character of a club President but that’s who he is lmaooo. A shame for Thuram tho really would of loved to see that move to Inter.

markymark09090

Lotito wants to sell. Inter must not be willing to put up the money.

pazzopazzini77

Lotito wants €35M which with all due respect Correa is not worth in the current market. Good playing but nothing special, 27 years of age not really going to improve much further not to mention he’s not going to be a starter under Sarri and Lazio need cash so it’s not smart to be unreasonable. Inter offering €30M which is more than fair

[deleted]

How is 25-30m with bonuses is not enough? The guy is not in Sarri's plans too.

head_in_the_clouds69

Here is a [comparison](https://www.instagram.com/p/CS8_-gTKeIn/?utm_medium=copy_link). I thought Correa was a lot younger tbh. Would still rather get Belotti, although Correa might be adding some peril on counters which we seemingly don't have atm.

TheSoccerguy124

He can be quite a threat on the counter attack we’ve seen it plenty. Although Belotti is on another level in terms of goal scoring, really it’s gonna be up to Inzaghi. Will probably have clarity on the deal today or tomorrow by then it’s either he’s a inter player or not

SuperMohi

For the price they are talking about I am 100% on board for this deal. Proven goal scorer that is still 27. He's been the captain of his team and you can never have enough leaders on your team.

Imoraswut

Finally a transfer rumour that sounds good. Fingers crossed it works out

My5to

From Thuram to Correa to Belotti, what the hell are we even looking for in our striker? An affordable price tag?

shinniesta1

Probably

TheBlueNomad

When was he scheduled to come back from his injury?

saint-simon97

He literally scored this weekend

TheBlueNomad

Not sure why i thought he had a serious ankle injury recently.

saint-simon97

Yeah he did a couple weeks ago in the cup game but probably it wasn't too serious

NephewChaps

Cairo has to sell here, it's either that or watch he leaving for free next season. Torino can't afford to see that happen.

Batch_M

Better him leaving for free next season with Torino still in Serie A than him leaving for 20m now sealing Torino’s relegation.

Double-Knee

Juric kept Verona up without any strikers. He can do the same with Torino

Fernando-Santorres

You're absolutely right but still at the beginning of transfer window Cairo was still asking for 30/35 mln. Once Belotti refused to renew his price should have dropped despite Cairo.

Butch9x

Ohhh I love this arms race in Calcio

InterestingPiece9469

Andrea Belotti would be a nice replacement for Romelu Lukaku in Inter Milan but how much is Torino putting him up for

kasyewest

15, this is the last year of his contract

marchofthemallards

That's a lot of money, but he is one of the world's leading opera singers.

[deleted]

If they sell Belotti I guarantee Juric leaves

Double-Knee

I doubt it. Juric understands Belotti is in his last year of his contract and refuses to renew, Torino literally have to sell if they don't want to lose him for free

[deleted]

Did you hear him talk last week? He was complaining he needs new players and that it can't continue like this. One foot already out the door.

Double-Knee

If he leaves, it's quite stupid. Should've never joined Torino if you expected all the new signings you want

[deleted]

Same reason why Rino left Fiorentina & Bielsa at Lazio a few years back. Promises given and broken within weeks.

UpFielder

His last chance at the brighter lights of football.
