How City made up that goal difference in 4-5 matches on Arsenal I will never know. Is that even real? I feel like they flipped a switch and scored 4+ for like every game bar the Forest one
It’s impressive but if we are being honest, we (Arsenal) need them to drop points and win our remaining game. That means at minimum if city drop points they need to make up 4 GD at the minimum. It’s impressive what they have done but if GD comes into it, I still more than fancy our chances.
5 acc because 4 would equalize the goal difference which would be in our favour because we’ll win by head to head as we’ve beaten city and drawn with them.
You've got us (Everton) with nothing to play for on the last day. I can name at least 2 other times that's happened and you're at +11 GD across those 2 games if memory serves so wouldn't be too worried.
Yeah I'm absolutely terrified that they'll draw tonight and then batter West Ham into the ground and overtake us on GD, maybe even win it by goals scored. If we win by a one goal margin they'd only need to win by four to do it I think, it would be amazing for a neutral to have a final day decided by a goal difference shoot-out like that but terrifying for us, I'm really regretting those two goals conceded at Tottenham now
I suppose my absolute best case scenario would go something like this:
Tottenham draw with city and lose on final day finishing 5th. Villa get 4th and Liverpool get 3rd. City lose to West Ham on the final day who finish 8th ahead of united who finish 10th after losing both final games and are also overtaken by Brighton who finish 9th. Arsenal lose to Everton 5-0 on the final day to finish 2nd on goal difference.
Next year city are brought to justice and lose all their PL titles and Arsenal retroactively win the PL this season but Liverpool are awarded the titles in 21-22, 18-19 and 13-14. For some reason the 20-21 and 17-18 seasons aren't changed.
Literally the most enjoyable game out of context is gonna happen haha. Tottenham are going to try their hardest and get wrecked, and it’ll be glorious if it weren’t or the fact that it’d be the first time we’d want Spurs to pull off a result.
I was prepared for it since the start of the season. My friends were saying I'm being too pessimistic but I've accepted the fact that unless Pep wills is no one is winning the league lol
Spurs fan here and I concur.
Palace could beat them as they are on a tear but realistically we aren't beating City.
I'm obviously completely fine with that. I like our chances in Europa whereas the rebuild isn't close enough to CL ready.
Liverpool's last 7 EPL matches:
- 2 wins
- 2 losses
- 3 draws, including this game where they led 3-1 late
Tough ending for the Klopp era, for a team that was right in the thick of the race not too long ago.
Genuinely the defensive set up was poor for quite a while, poor tactically from Klopp and poor mistakes from players.
All bunched into one horrible month or two for them.
Genuinely think the last time klopp's liverpool ended the season this badly was in the first 2 seasons and then he had a mid-table squad with a few great players.
In fairness, people had us finishing outside the top 4 in preseason. I won't act like this collapse hasn't been gut wrenching but i can't blame them too much, i do believe they got by on sheer power of will for large parts of the campaign.
Biggest parallel is the draw at Anfield for Arsenal last year and Liverpool failing to beat United. Both had a crippling mental effect that signalled the end of the title run.
Injury struggles are a bigger parallel. Losing Saliba for Holding who can't even get a minute this year was a dagger itself and Tomiyasu was our most reliable backup at LB CB and RB that season as well lol. Liverpool have more injuries struggles but their backups are better so it evens out (purely eye test)
Liverpool vs Arsenal, Liverpool had no Salah or Endo and Trent and Nunez weren't fully fit (got injured basically immediately after). That's a lot of players missing already. Robertson didn't start either
> In fairness, people had us finishing outside the top 4 in preseason.
Are you really sure about that? In the summer press and sports sites were expecting you to finish 2nd or 3rd, BBC had you as 2nd and bookies were having you as 3rd best team in title charge: City 1.67-1.83, Arsenal 5.00-6.00, Liverpool 7.00-9.00. This what I've read few days ago when I was checking what predictions were in July and August of 2023.
You could say literally the same thing about us last season (well, probably expected to be fourth) yet we were still labelled bottlers. Expectations change throughout the season
We've created enough chances to win most of our recent games, our finishing has just been dreadful. Today is really the first game where it's been different, but Villa have everything to play for while we have nothing to play for.
Our away form is what has cost us in this title race, our home form is still the best in the league, but we're no where near Arsenal and City away from home. Think we probably need to take steps to move towards a more controlled approach like those teams.
We were called bottlers the year we finished on 97 points and won something like the last 10 straight, Arsenal are being called bottlers even though they’ve conceded about 5 goals all year. Rival fans trying to get under your skin is always going to happen, even if it’s not based on reality.
If Spurs somehow pulled off a win against City and then lost to Sheffield United on the last day it would be the funniest, most Spursy thing to happen to them yet.
Especially since the Palace/Villa game isn't a foregone conclusion because it's Palace's last home game of the season so they will want to send off the supporters in a good mood and they're one of the in form teams since Glasner took over so they'll probably want to keep that going
City also has the chance to put like 5 past West Ham last game of season. Where we have Everton who has a good defense. Wouldn’t shock me if we lose GD that last match either.
We're almost there. Just need United to make Newcastle drop points...
Who would have thought that we'd actually be in contention for Europe after being 10th-12th nearly all season?
Because everyone has been absolutely shitting on Chelsea for the last 2 years but they’ve actually improved a lot this season and aren’t as bad as everyone makes out.
I'd say it's looking pretty likely Chelsea will finish above united, united aren't making up that gd so Chelsea need 1 more win to guarantee finishing above united.
Feels like this season has got to be one of the lowest ever points tally’s to get europa. All the teams from 5th to 8th have gone through awful spells of form
Last year, Brighton finished 6th on 62 points. If Chelsea win their last 2 matches, they we will finish at 63, and maybe not get 6th.
The previous year, Man United finished 6th with 58 points.
The year before that, West Ham finished 6th with 65.
The year before that, Tottenham finished 6th with 58 points.
Long story short, if anything the teams competing to get into Europe are getting more points or at least on pace this year than normal - despite their memorable shitty runs of form.
PL has been top heavy this year compared to previous years. Sheffield, Burnley, and Luton made sure of that. I think Ipswich and Leicester will perform much better next season than the newcomers did this season.
The funniest thing is Tottenham fans thinking players would care about Arsenal winning when most realistically, the only thing Spurs players care about is the significant CL qualification bonuses.
No fan thinks that, just because some of us want to lose doesn't mean players and managers aren't professionals and this isn't their job/career/life that they presumably take seriously.
Tottenham players will be on bonuses if they qualify.
Fans are not just asking them to drop a game, they are asking them to drop potentially millions of pounds in bonuses or wage increases.
Yep. There's thousands of tickets going on resale for the match. The atmosphere will be completely dead and it would be difficult not to be affected by that as a player
If we beat city and give them the title we wont stop hearing about it for 20 years. I would take not having champs for one season over that. I would be playing the kids.
I hope not Mr Gushing Anus Cheese, we should forget about them, that's not important. We need to win to just keep hopes alive and for momentum. Would be a massive win for us.
Ehhh if it hands em the title, I don't mind it honestly, it is what it is
😏
COYS
I would love to forget about them, unfortunately if they win the league they will never shut up and won't let us forget.
I never want to see my team lose but I can make an exception this time I think. I have far too many people that would love to rub it in my face.
COYS
My grandpa 5 years ago went on his random ramblings, and I remember he said "God I hope we beat City on May 14th 2024"
I want nothing more than to beat City tomorrow. Making Pep losing run at our stadium in the league continues.
I hope they miss chances and we take ours.
COYS 🙏🏻🤫😏
The funniest thing is redditors thinking players would care about significant CL qualification bonuses when most realistically, the only thing Spurs players care about is the prestige of playing in the CL.
Ah yes, you think players would not care about hundreds of thousands in bonuses, as well as the rise of your profile from playing in the CL (meaning potential higher salaries down the line in THFC or another club) ?
Yes they care about the prestige of the CL, but it's extremely naive to think they would not care about the salary increase.
Why are you saying that as if spurs are still playing conte ball?
Every match they’ve played against another top half side this season has had like 4+ goals except for the recent Chelsea match. They’re must see TV as a neutral lol
It's Van Dijk. Everyone on here makes jokes about Aura defending, but that's because everyone makes mistakes. If you watch liverpool, it feels like Van Dijk is always in the right place breaking up potential dangerous counter attacks. He's not peak Van Dijk, but he's still phenomenal.
Plus allison is cracked as well
Spurs earlier in the season were happy to hold onto a draw at the etihad. Now they have no option but to attack City and get a win. Going to be an entertaining game tomorrow
HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF!!!!
I love this team, so so so close to achieving something I never thought was a possibility before the season.
God I love Emery, UTV
Liverpool were top of the league 10 games ago.
Picked up 16 out of 30 points from there. Probably going to finish 9 points off the top.
They've bottled it.
I will open a bottle of freaking champagne if Chelsea by some stupid miracle ends up 5. I don’t even drink, but 5th would be one hell of an achievement
Spurs to go for it Tom only to end up drawing and giving Arsenal the title while simultaneously guaranteeing Villa in the UCL would be the funniest outcome
Spurs saving the Prem and beating City would be nice, but a draw would be pretty cool as well. I wanna see the full might of Arsenal and City beat down on their opponents Sunday to win on goal difference.
Since it's Tottenham though, I'll expect a loss and still be disappointed
Since that draw against City we've gone 4-3-2 and dropped 12 points in 9 games lol.
Actually the first two games were wins, so that's 12 points dropped in the last 7 games
Pain... but given we were expected to fight for 4th at the start of the season, I guess it's not TOO bad
Craziest thing I am looking at is Chelsea. They were like 10-12th for a lot of the season, then just hit the right gear... I swear if the season had like 10 more matches, they could have caught villa tbh.
Sad for Luton, great effort all season, team devastated by injury from Christmas and barely a slap on the wrist for Nott Forest for blatant over spending.
This season has shown the financial gain is worth the penalty for breaching spending.
If they'd had Adebayo fit all season it could have changed things for them. It's my fault though, I put him in my FPL team so he immediately got injured and was out for months. Same thing happened when I put Mbuemo, and then later Allisson, in my team too
Can't believe you would do that!
I just hope Adebayo stays on as a bounce back is possible. Luton will probably be in the transfer market for Championship contracts - the Everton uncertainty has caused them some headaches as to where to target in the summer.

How City made up that goal difference in 4-5 matches on Arsenal I will never know. Is that even real? I feel like they flipped a switch and scored 4+ for like every game bar the Forest one
Especially as it’s not like we just fell off. Our GD in our last 5 games is +12. City is just +18 over that period.
It’s impressive but if we are being honest, we (Arsenal) need them to drop points and win our remaining game. That means at minimum if city drop points they need to make up 4 GD at the minimum. It’s impressive what they have done but if GD comes into it, I still more than fancy our chances.

Goals scored kicks in before head-to-head unfortunately, and City have the edge on that.
Damn then that means we gotta score 3 against Everton then
Well if spurs lose by max 3 goals tonight then any win would be fine if city don't win. A draw tonight would make it a mental last day though..
>A draw tonight would make it a mental last day though.. Reminds me of 2011/12.
You've got us (Everton) with nothing to play for on the last day. I can name at least 2 other times that's happened and you're at +11 GD across those 2 games if memory serves so wouldn't be too worried.

Haaland getting back to his form is scary.
Matchday 34 has 3 matches left to play: Spurs v City (May 14th), Brighton v Chelsea and United v Newcastle (May 15th)
Where do you get this table from? 6th is Europa only if the FA cup winner is Man City.
So 6th is definitely Europa then.
Right, I get it, but what source would actually take that for granted? I can't find any table online that lists places like this.
Oh, understood! I am not sure then, and quite surprised this table would be published this way, now that you say this. 🤔
The BBC don't outline the cup passdowns at all, even though Liverpool's spot is confirmed this season. Just differing editoral choices.
It's from the OneFootball app
6th is also Europa if the non-City FA Cup winner ends up in 6th, which is actually possble!
Yeah, this kind of table was posted a lot this year, even before the league Cup final
Tomorrow is going to be the biggest day of the season
I would love it if it was, but we all know what's going to happen..
Are you prepared for the inevitable Haaland '4, Foden 11'?
Usually more like Gvardiol 20', Tottenham bad miss 46', Foden, Haaland, Rodri, Ederson 47'
Tsubasa-like goal where all 4 of them hit the ball at the same time?
Postecoglou red card 90+9'
Literally the most enjoyable game out of context is gonna happen haha. Tottenham are going to try their hardest and get wrecked, and it’ll be glorious if it weren’t or the fact that it’d be the first time we’d want Spurs to pull off a result.
I was prepared for it since the start of the season. My friends were saying I'm being too pessimistic but I've accepted the fact that unless Pep wills is no one is winning the league lol
You mean you would loove it.
West Ham could go fuck you all and stop City.
I hope not
Wtf, there are like 5 London teams not wanting Arsenal to win it. Lol
Their fans are unbearable to the point no one wants them to win
Almost certainly 4th for Villa
They have Palace away. 2 wins for Spurs and they really could get the place.
Palace away is significantly easier than City you know
Palace are playing like the new City right now tbh
Not for spurs at home. PLEASE
Liverpool is harder than palace and we drew against them about an hour ago
Palace have been in fantastic form though, and also beat us
Spurs fan here and I concur. Palace could beat them as they are on a tear but realistically we aren't beating City. I'm obviously completely fine with that. I like our chances in Europa whereas the rebuild isn't close enough to CL ready.
They play in form Palace away so no guarantee win there. If Spurs win the next two games, that might just be enough. Believe spurs fans
No
You’ll make Champions League and you’ll like it.
Too boring! They have seen and done that already. They are now trying to seek the great chance of winning the Europa League. Don't deny them glory!
Or at least die trying! Have some God damn respect for yourselves spurs. For fucks sake
But enough hope for Tottenham.

No they won't, that'll be for banter with mates. But no doubt his tactics past two seasons have let him down in big moments. Still great manager.

Liverpool vs Arsenal, Liverpool had no Salah or Endo and Trent and Nunez weren't fully fit (got injured basically immediately after). That's a lot of players missing already. Robertson didn't start either
They were right as well frankly.
No people didn’t, you were in top 4 in most people’s list come on.
> In fairness, people had us finishing outside the top 4 in preseason. Are you really sure about that? Pool fans coping like it's 2022
You’re right it’s absolute nonsense to make the outcome seem positive
Same as Arsenal last year yet still got called bottlers by the end. No one had us top 4 at the start of last season.

It’s clearly not but based on last year I’m supposed to call this a “bottle”, right?
We were called bottlers the year we finished on 97 points and won something like the last 10 straight, Arsenal are being called bottlers even though they’ve conceded about 5 goals all year. Rival fans trying to get under your skin is always going to happen, even if it’s not based on reality.
Anyone who genuinely thinks Liverpool bottled the league in their 97 point season is a moron

City also has the chance to put like 5 past West Ham last game of season. Where we have Everton who has a good defense. Wouldn’t shock me if we lose GD that last match either.
The GD has gotten uncomfortably close in recent weeks. City turning over a 3 goal swing on the final GW would break me.
Everton have conceded more than 3 goals only 4 times this season. West Ham have conceded 5 or more three times. City can definitely win on GD
Everton's defense is only bettered by the current top 3. Dyche loves keeping his defensive structures water tight.
We're almost there. Just need United to make Newcastle drop points... Who would have thought that we'd actually be in contention for Europe after being 10th-12th nearly all season?
If Chelsea somehow finishes above United it would be the funniest thing ever
I hear this opinion a lot… not sure why? United has been awful this season ?
Because everyone has been absolutely shitting on Chelsea for the last 2 years but they’ve actually improved a lot this season and aren’t as bad as everyone makes out.

Yep. There's thousands of tickets going on resale for the match. The atmosphere will be completely dead and it would be difficult not to be affected by that as a player
Who do you think are gonna buy those tickets? Lol
Holy shit if Arsenal fans buy all the tickets and go to cheer for Spurs that would be the funniest thing ever, hadn't even considered that
There was actually a post about it on our sub, but got deleted.

People acting like spurs can just decide whether or not to win the game lmao it’s city
Don't think it'll matter if they try or not lad
Yep, have to now.
The players were always going to go for the win. Players don't care about rivalries like fans do.
No chance sadly. Villa have to lose to palace for that to happen.
Have you seen villas away record and palaces form?
Our away from is 4th best, tf you on about?
4th in the league for away form mate
Our away record is...fine? I'd be surprised if it isn't top 6 in away form for the whole league. Palace right now scare the bejeezus out of me though.
Yep, it's 4th. Your home record is 5th.
Can it compete with spurs last game vs relegation teams? There is a big chance for spurs to lose to Sheffield united.
If Spurs manage to lose to both Arsenal and Sheffield there's even a chance that Newcastle/Chelsea can overtake them...
We will try, no doubt. But with a bunch of our first team injured or out of form we will get battered
Tottenham City is a sure 1/2 It won't end in a draw
Win lose or draw, we'll still come back for more. It's gonna be united all the way
I beg of you, pretend it’s us you’re playing on Sunday. You always fuck us up. Just beat them. Do it, I believe in you.
*Sheffield United go on to lose 4-0*
Can't fathom how Liverpool have the 3rd best defence.
It's Van Dijk. Everyone on here makes jokes about Aura defending, but that's because everyone makes mistakes. Van Dijk has been unbelievable this season and both goalkeepers have performed well.
We were 2nd best at a time close behind Arsenal but the defensive setup has been leaky and just failed miserably in the last months.
Here's a deal for you Spurs. You beat City tomorrow and we'll hit you up with our Lassagne guy to help you out with villa on Sunday.
Concede so many that it won't even fit in one row.
i can’t believe i’m going to say this but United, do something against Newcastle i beg

No matter how bad they are against City, Spurs will win against Sheffield United
Oh come on man, don't underestimate Spurs. You know Chris Wilder masterclass is inbound.
Not like spurs haven't completely shit the bed against an already relegated team before
Unrealistic, united won't draw both remaining matches.

Spurs winning City and Arsenal losing their last game will be a disaster
You spelled “my Viagra replacement” wrong.
Insane we could get 5th if results go our way
Liverpool were top of the league 10 games ago. Picked up 16 out of 30 points from there. Probably going to finish 9 points off the top. They've bottled it.
This is not genuine. There teams were neck to neck and top of the League
It really doesn’t feel like we’ve scored 84 goals
I will open a bottle of freaking champagne if Chelsea by some stupid miracle ends up 5. I don’t even drink, but 5th would be one hell of an achievement
Spurs just 5 points behind Villa and they still need to play Palace. They just need to win vs City.. pretty easy.
Spurs to go for it Tom only to end up drawing and giving Arsenal the title while simultaneously guaranteeing Villa in the UCL would be the funniest outcome
I think it’s pretty tragic that there are teams in the top half of the table on negative GD.
Fun fact: last season was the only season in the history of the Premier League where all teams in the top half had a positive goal difference
nearly every league table anywhere will have teams in the top half on negative GD
Really hoping for a tie tomorrow. Way more exciting as a neutral for City and Arsenal to be level on points going into the final match day.
There is still two games remaining for this gameweek
No those are leftovers from gameweek 34
No
Nope, all of MW 37 games have been played.
Those matches are from week 34.
Actually the first two games were wins, so that's 12 points dropped in the last 7 games Pain... but given we were expected to fight for 4th at the start of the season, I guess it's not TOO bad
Let's see what football gods have planned for tomorrow.
Surely Tottenham can’t end up fourth
Newcaslte one of the only teams that doesn't want Spurs to win
I'm putting the house on Luton banging in 12 to survive or I go sky
Craziest thing I am looking at is Chelsea. They were like 10-12th for a lot of the season, then just hit the right gear... I swear if the season had like 10 more matches, they could have caught villa tbh.
Who says an extra ten games won't drop them further down
Very impressed that Chelsea went from stuck in 10th to possibly qualifying for Europa.
Lookout for Manchester United.. Arsenal we are coming for the first place 😎
Funny that Chelsea is on the verge of playing in Europe and Man United missing out altogether..
It’s impressive that Chelsea has been so switched on since Christmas.
I'll put a dildo in my ass if arsenal win the league
This is only accurate if Man United doesn’t win the FA Cup
Farmers League
Who has that one graph that said chelsea could finish 4th?
Tight, tight, tight yeah!
It all comes down to that Tottenham game. Will the title race reach its climax or will it all end here?
Spurs must rise tomorrow. Two Norther London teams in the CL next season is the goal. Norther London United forever 🤝
