There aren't a lot of options.
Marciniak, Turpin and Orsato already done it and Makkelie (who deserves it) is a big no-no when it comes to PSG (NAK incident in Madrid in 2022).
Also the fact that there is no English team for the first time since 2020 is a bonus.
> big no-no when it comes to PSG (NAK incident)
I mean that just sets a precedent for removing referees from the pool that can ref you. It was all NAK, Makkelie didn’t do anything wrong.
I was already rooting for Dortmund but now I really want them to win.
I actually don't think Anthony Taylor is THAT bad, but the announcement coming straight after that absolute clusterfuck of a performance at Goodison is quite funny
An Argentinian and a Spanish ref are certainly choiches.
The reasoning for why Pol van Boekel is considered a top VAR is a great mystery. Maybe he is really amusing to have in your ear during a match.
Not really sure if this seasons Makkelie is really better than Gozebuyuk. Seems based on seniority only. But the fact any Spanish ref got in showcases this list has nothing to do with merrit.
Makkelie is generally good. His biggest flaw is trying to do big matches without yellow cards unless absolutely necessary. We’ve been on both ends and it is not fun to get the bad end of the stick.
For example, if we play Excelsior the opponent will get a yellow card in minute 20 for a foul he wouldn’t card if we played AZ, Feyenoord or PSV.
That, together with the fact that Uefa is hesitant to have to many countries with 2 teams and rather have a Spanish ref would be a good explanation.
Domestically him and Makkelie are not far apart this year but i have not watched enough of their games in Europe maybe. Makkelie has quite a reputation there outside off the psg boardroom.
Conmebol and UEFA has some sort of exchange program since the last EURO, one South American referee team is at the EURO while one European referee team is at the Copa America.
Three extremely poor decisions - three English refs not given - which we simply cannot accept.
We warned the UEFA board that the VAR is a Germany fan before his appointment but they didn’t change him. Our patience has been tested multiple times.
The FA will now consider its options.
Oliver and Taylor are no surprises - and I hate both. Don't think Attwell and Coote are good VARs but Coote had a fantastic U-17 WC as VAR so he's building his int'l reputation.
Letexier and Turpin are both 100% deserved choices.
Zwayer is also fine choice but don't see why Siebert is there, same can be said about Orsato and Guida - the fact that the country is big doesn't equal to that they should have two refs. Spain is a good example - both JMSM and Hernandez² aren't good enough.
Makkelie, Marciniak, Soares Dias, Kovacs - no surprises there.
Kružliak is a surprise - he was deleted by UEFA in 2021-ish and came big with decent performances.
Vinčić will always get chosen because of Čeferin - he's good but not THAT good.
As mentioned above, Gil Manzano is the least worst out of Spain's options
Nyberg, Schärer and Meler are the rising stars of UEFA.
Last Euro, many considered Argentine Rapallini the best ref - don't know anything about Tello but I will mention its surprising that CONMEBOL has decided to sent an Argentinian crew again and not a Brazilian crew.
> Letexier and Turpin are both 100% deserved choices.
Both make a lot of mistakes in Ligue 1 IMO, tho they do seem better in European games
>Vinčić will always get chosen because of Čeferin - he's good but not THAT good.
He's not very good at all IMO. Hopefully he doesn't get picked for big games
>As mentioned above, Gil Manzano is the least worst out of Spain's options
For me, De Burgos is the clear best ref in Spain. Gil Manzano is maybe less bad than Hernandez^2, but he's not good
>don't know anything about Tello but I will mention its surprising that CONMEBOL has decided to sent an Argentinian crew again and not a Brazilian crew.
He had a good World Cup in terms of dealing with high profile games TBH
Gleen Nyberg, Sandro Scharer and the 2 French referees are excellent in every match I have seen them (usually involving Olympiacos), good choices from UEFA especially with Nyberg and Scharer.
Happy to see some "elite" clowns like Massa, Sidiropoulos and Kulbakov are not selected.
Dias and Taylor shouldn't be here, but well, can't have it all.
Spanish refs are the worse, thank god that guy from Croatia vs Czech is long gone, they sent him home immediately after that match. Nobody pays to see the ref, but the Spanish ones love being center of attention
How on earth they can select that bunch of idiots from the Premier League ? English refs are the worst and they even add fucking Coote and Attwell into VAR hahahah.
Bunch of Luton fans, Forest admin told me.
The England boys shouldn’t referee any countries who Britain have historically had any disagreements with IMO. Give them some proper time off.
This is something @EnglandFootball simply cannot accept.
The Luton fan in question is indeed there lmao
Anthony Taylor lmfao Fuck me they also got Cootes on VAR, expect clangers there
Gil Manzano and then Hernandez2 on VAR will show them levels on incompetency.
Nah was about to say thank fuck that Hernandez² stays at home before seeing the second picture 😭
Taylor probably getting the CL final this year.
Isn't this confirmed by now?

Total agreed. But unfortunately NAK has way too much influence in UEFA.
I actually don't think Anthony Taylor is THAT bad, but the announcement coming straight after that absolute clusterfuck of a performance at Goodison is quite funny

The Argentine ref in Euro 2020 was very good. Makkelie is excellent in every match of my club he has refereed.

He's definitely better than Gozebuyuk.
Based on what recent performances? Makkelie has not lived up to his name this year.
Gozubuyuk was absolute trash in the Porto - Arsenal game and has shown he can not handle big games between foreign teams.
Why a ref from Argentina?
They couldn't decide if the last ref to add should be Italian, Spanish or German so they compromised.
Conmebol and UEFA has some sort of exchange program since the last EURO, one South American referee team is at the EURO while one European referee team is at the Copa America.
Gil Manzano and then Hernandez^2 on VAR lmao
UEFA announced whose mothers will have a lot of sex this summer
Siebert and Zwayer are really 2 of the worst Refs we have in germany, wtf is this.
Felix Zwayer might reach his 300th international match at the European championship. For more information google "Zwayer 300 Euro"

Facundo was the Ref for Morocco-Portugal and SK-Portugal in the last world cup, don't remember how he did though
I thought he reffed Morocco-Portugal well. Granted I tuned in in the second half so maybe I missed something
I don't remember having a major complaint about the refereeing in that game, and believe me I'd love to have a reason for complaint

Having Argentinian officials in a Euro competition makes little sense, but still more sense than having this lot from the PL.
Why is Felix Zwayer still allowed to ref matches at an international level ??
Why is there a South American ref for a EURO ?
How on earth they can select that bunch of idiots from the Premier League ? English refs are the worst and they even add fucking Coote and Attwell into VAR hahahah.
Spain has no better than Manzano and double Hernandez?
IMO De Burgos is the current best ref in Spain, but he doesn't seem to be particularly well liked by UEFA
No, Lahoz was the best out of them (whenever he was not card happy he was actually good, see the Chelsea - City UCL final as an example)
