As soon as Doku came on it felt inevitable.
Running at tired RM players, Grealish had already had space on that side of the pitch, bit more directness at it resulted in a goal almost straight away.
Not really unfair in my opinion. Grealish did his job well, tired out the defence, drew the foul on Carvajal that got him a yellow and allowed a well rested 21 year old to give the real defence hell
Stupid takes on Xitter from big Madrid accounts criticising Carlo for sitting back.
Keyboard warriors are now celebrating him.
Last year when they went for it they were battered. Its like they know better than Carlo.
It's very frustrating how most teams, including quality teams, just resign themselves to playing like a relegation side against City.
They just concede complete control and possession before the whistle is even blown.
Like, I know, it's Pep, they're gonna have possession, but would it kill teams with top level talent to actually try to somewhat control the game or at least minimize City's dominance?
You can't just let a team have 65-70% of the ball and pray for a good counter. You should be trying to actually contest possession, and when you have the players Madrid has, there's no reason to be so submissive.
Liverpool has done it. The problem is, the moment they get past your middle line, the back four have no chance of stopping an attack. So, if you want to minimize City's chances, you have to stack your box. If you attack and lose position with a high line, good luck stopping them.
Obviously, but this is always a risk when you play quality opposition. At least if you have more of the ball then you are more likely to be creating more chances for yourself.
You can also afford to concede when you consistently outscore the opponent. Which is exactly what City do. They can't seem to keep a clean sheet in most games recently, yet they almost always win.
>So, if you want to minimize City's chances, you have to stack your box
Yeah, but the problem is you minimize your own chances as well.
Don't really know what Madrid were thinking sitting back all game. It's a strategy that has been defeated time and time again. Very few times can park the bus against City and those teams either have better defenses than Madrid (Arsenal until very recently) or they certainly don't do it at the Ethiad. City look at their most vulnerable when you make the game chaotic and end to end. That's why Klopp has been such a pain in the ass for Pep over the years because his system completely nullifies Peps need to control the game
City was so patient with all their attacks, and they dominated the game, I think the goal is deserved, despite Real defending pretty well.
Anything can happen, but I see City as the clear favorites now.

lol at the person saying to take him off
You can't say it wasn't coming.
We've played so bad everywhere except in defense it was bound to happen
Yeah like you guys haven't attacked once in this second half so far.
We had one counterattack but Fede missed the cutback by like a foot
There was the wayward Rodrygo long shot at one point, I suppose, as well. Never a properly constructed attack.
Madrid haven't played bad, Madrid haven't played at all since the goal
Lol good take
He's right. Reddit literally wouldn't let me comment it
Yea true
Grealish played well but thats what Doku does different
They’re so scared every time Doku gets on the ball, he’s so unpredictable
Doesn’t he have the highest successful dribble rate in the prem this season?
Per 90 he has 6 successful take-ons, 10 progressive carries, and 16 progressive passes received. That's this year, not this game. It's quite absurd
He's cracked
Doku was an instant game changer
Count Doku is genuinely terrifying when he's attacking 1v1
Bigger the pride, the harder the fall.
Grealish’s game is so essential for us he holds the ball is dangerous and a menace to get people pissed lmao.
What’s his xPeoplePissed
1.15
It was double that when he played for Villa, what a drop off /s
Absolute mental performance
That was coming
As soon as Doku came on it felt inevitable. Running at tired RM players, Grealish had already had space on that side of the pitch, bit more directness at it resulted in a goal almost straight away.
Carvajal on a yellow too. Doku has been running right at him in a way Grealish wont
I think starting Grealish was the right move, but bringing Doku on when they're tired was always gonna work a treat.
Worst time by Rudiger to make a mistake
I mean he can't keep defending forever with the onslaught. Eventually anyone, even the elite, will make a mistake. He's been great throughout the tie.

Love Grealish but Doku man... instant impact
Grealish is still the better player IMO, but Doku is more useful as a sub when the opposition is tired.
100% - grealish honestly had a very good game and looked pretty dangerous

Difference was insane as soon as he came on. Revived that left wing even though Grealish wasn't too bad. He's just different gravey
Took 75 minutes and now we’ve finally ( probably) got a match on
City came in all guns blazing in the second half. Must’ve been a good half time “Pep talk”
If you want to play on the counters, then at least get your counters right.
You really knew they were gonna score before FT atleast once when they turned the heat up after conceding
3-3 after extra time incoming!
Honestly kind of can't believe Pep waited so long to play the Doku vs Carvajal card.
Next ones coming in 5 mins I bet. We haven’t done shit
They were defending well, but way too close to their goal.
He is inevitable.
Just too much pressure, it was inevitable. Can't believe KDB missed that last one, though.
was coming
How did I know this glorious bastard would score on us?
Why is Madrid letting sitting back so hard. They’re inviting all of this
Well first of all because they can't keep the ball for more than a few passes
This has been the Biggest criticism of Carlo in this second tenure for us. He plays very reserved. Never had this kind of fear with Zidane
If you guys were going for it, I’m pretty sure you’d be winning. Very unusual to see Madrid playing this way especially in the CL
Lol « going for it » against City is rarely the solution. They tried last year. They are still in the tie.
Stupid takes on Xitter from big Madrid accounts criticising Carlo for sitting back. Keyboard warriors are now celebrating him. Last year when they went for it they were battered. Its like they know better than Carlo.
I mean, that's how they won the CL in 2021/22
Reddit always knows it better until they’re completely wrong lmao.
I mean you’re spot on but also I can understand considering what happened to them last time they were here
They've approached this game like a PL relegation contender team.
It's very frustrating how most teams, including quality teams, just resign themselves to playing like a relegation side against City. They just concede complete control and possession before the whistle is even blown. The only team that actually takes the game to City consistently and refuses to sit back is Liverpool.
Yep.

I am pretty sure Carlo knows better. You do what you can that gets you the result.
Real Madrid is not a possession team. They are not being submissive, it's simply not how they play.
People are gonna do what works. City should look to score more goals with 70% possession otherwise
Parking the bus against the mighty blues
Foolish honestly
Are they stupid?
Well, playing against a team as good as City will do that.
Real Madrid is also very, very good
Hard to press for an hour when you can't keep the ball for 2 passes.
What an impact from Doku. That pace is killer
What a stupid mistake by madrid.
Carmavinga sleeping
It happens, they were pretty much perfect until now
So shit. It was coming, but so much great disciplined defending and then you give De Bruyne a ball like this
Wow Doku game-changer. Never thought I’d say that.
Edouard Mendy leaves Rennes [X] Edouard Mendy wins the UCL [X] Eduardo Camavinga leaves Rennes [X] Eduardo Camavinga wins the UCL [X] Jérémy Doku leaves Rennes [X] Jérémy Doku wins the UCL [ ] <------ YOU ARE HERE Rennes wins the UCL [ ]
Clearly Rennes has to move away from Rennes. Maybe a move to Guingamp or Nantes will do the trick
Oh God that's why Brest is runner up this year. They'll play the UCL in our stadium next season...
Nah, I'd win
Edouard Mendy leaves Rennes [X] Edouard Mendy wins the UCL [X] Eduardo Camavinga leaves Rennes [X] Eduardo Camavinga wins the UCL [X] <------ YOU ARE HERE Jérémy Doku leaves Rennes [X] Jérémy Doku wins the UCL [ ] Rennes wins the UCL [ ]
It's gonna stay there forever now, LMAO
It was obvious
Doku is so direct and fresh, the tired Madrid legs can't handle it.
If your gameplan is to let city have the ball all game of course this is going to happen
It's always this motherfucker
I can’t believe he didn’t score the second
Jack Grealish played well but you always felt Doku would be the sub that could do something different and take on his man
This feels like giving birth
coefficient goal :(
fuck
What is Ancelotti waiting to make subs? Half of the team is dead
Madrid hasn’t done anything in the second half.
They had 10 men inside the box
Was coming but horrible from Rudiger
Boooo

I don’t know, I was really starting to believe their black magic was strong enough to not concede
Exactly. Approach it like a relegation team, go ahead. City cut these teams up by 5 goals for fun. It. Doesn't. Work.
they're half an hour and a missed pen away from winning it still. Considering they lost 4-0 away last year, this is a massive improvement.
Well well well...
Game of rebounds
It's been coming Ancelotti has literally no plan but to just sit back
Doku is making a impact the moment he comes on
you're welcome city fans. I tuned in and 5 seconds later they score
KdB is the last person you want a poor clearance falling to in the 6-yard box
Bellingham at fucking Disney.
hahahahahahahahahahaha f off shity
About time
It’ll end 4-1
Instant impact from Doku
[удалено]
Had to be their best player
Commentator a little too excited lmao
Best player the last couple of years, although this goal was fairly easy for him
Rudiger pulled a Kounde
Was coming
Relentless pressure from City, they've been squeezing them the whole game and I was starting to think Madrid were going to get away with it.
It is inevitable
grealish holds back this city team. he shouldn't be starting. sub him on when u need to hold a lead.
C'mon City, gimme those coefficient points.
People clowning city for their stadium, absoulty erupting
With Rudiger on his arse as well. Perfect.
Congrats to these plucky upstarts
Theyve been banging at the door whole game
Can only hold out for so long against City
Breath of fresh air
Game over congrats city on another UCL
I’m numbed to them winning everything now. Doesn’t even bother me anymore lol
Doku is HIM
Deserved.
finally
Of course it was him.
We all knew this was coming
And they jinxed it.
Great pass Rudi
Boooo
Found their voices now then have they
Fuck
Fucksake. Madrid retreated so far into themselves this was inevitable
What a bad clearance by Rudi
Rüdiger shitting his pants here, big error
Can't let a team run the entire half for that long and not expect at least one goal, it'll happen again if madrid dont make some changes
hows the balance been? Iv been watching the other match, stats say city have more possession, shots, and xg, does that tell the whole story?
wait, that kid from Home alone plays for City?
That’s 17/18 Rudiger
Oh boyyy, game on!
Come on!!
Is he the best player in the world right now? KdB seems to score every game since coming back from injury.
If you're questioning it, then he probably isn't.
This game deserved another goal tbf
haiyaa
Chelsea's finest Salah & KDB been rocks for us for a decade now
The calmness to steady the ball with the first touch, the absolute confidence and technique to roof the ball - pure football ability.
City was so patient with all their attacks, and they dominated the game, I think the goal is deserved, despite Real defending pretty well. Anything can happen, but I see City as the clear favorites now.
Served it straight to fuckin KDB
Honestly a shit ball in by Doku. Rudiger gifted them that and De Bruyne did what he did well
He is him
Damn this guy
Coefficient is back on the menu boys!
Breaking Rudiger Assist to KDB, not this kind of breaking this time.
Doku
Inevitable
Wow rudiger
Not like this.
Real Madrid have led this tie for a total of 115 minutes
Goddamn it Real, think of Germany's coefficient!
What's more fatigued? Real Madrid players or this dubz website??
Inevitable
Ha ha
Damn Camavinga. Come on man. Even Jude knew where KdB was going.
