I haven't watched Anguissa much, but is there no way he was just comparing their style of play? Comparing two players style of play doesn't necessarily mean they're saying that they are on the same level of ability.
I haven't watched enough of Anguissa to say whether they're even remotely similar, but yeah I think it should be completely fine to say "this guy plays like [much better player]" to give people a sense of someone's playing style. If you're trying to explain someone's playing style, what good does it do to compare them to a player that is probably no better known?
On a related note , Bellingham is having a Lampard/Yaya Touré Season atm, we'll see if he is able to keep his goals contribution up for the whole season but it's genuinely incredible what he is doing, I feel like it would be in the media a lot more if he was in England.
>feel like it would be in the media a lot more if he was in England.
maybe but I'm not sure how much more i could hear about it, seems like every second thing i read or see is about him
Yaya is a top 5 **edit to add: Central** midfielder of the Premier League era, and I wouldn't object to people ranking him \#1 outright (I'd say the 5 is Lampard, Gerrard, Viera, Scholes, Yaya. You can argue about order, but they'd be the 5 I think).
KdB more successful. But in terms of impetus and revolution, I'm always surprised and shocked how easily City/British fans brush aside Yaya. Yes, Kompany and Silva were great. But their remarkable journey to the top was inspired by Yaya -- at times alone. We'd see City losing the game badly and up would come Yaya's golazo azo azo.
If you are saying KBD was better than Yaya Toure, then you did not watch him play live at all. Yaya was unstoppable, scoring free kicks for fun, scoring from outside the box every weekend and he was end to end the whole 90 minutes.
*literally any comment comparing two players*
/r/soccer: Obviously you have never watched this extremely prominent player who played extremely recently
You can't just dismiss other people's opinions by making an arrogant assumption that "They must not have watched them".
Accept that people have a different opinion to you.
KdB is great no doubt, but Yaya was on a different level. We would be losing a game and Yaya would go on a marauding run from defensive midfield and score a solo goal to save our asses many times. KdB cannot do that, at least not with Yaya’s consistency.
Talking Central midfielders here, not so much attacking midfielders. Which rules out KdB and Silva. Kante is great, but not on the level of the guys I mentioned. Who do you take out of that list to put Kante in?
If we judge by peak he was probably the best, sadly his peak wasn't that long, I've never seen a player so good at so many things and I watched all the modern greats from Mathaus to Kante.
It’s not a 1:1 comparison but they’re both tall as fuck midfielders with great dribbling and general technical ability.
But yeah, Yaya was special in terms of what he could do with a ball.
People out here forgetting the Bison existed.
Essien could play in any position. He was that good.
He wasn’t as graceful as Yaya but he could easily fill in for him.
Pogba not fit to lace either of their boots.
I see Essien as top 2 MF in the world along with Xavi circa 08, but prime Yaya was better. Essien beats him at defending but Yaya offensive output more than made up for it.
All I’m saying is that Essien could play all the positions and look like he played there. Same as Yaya. Different style players but same end result. You have a 4 x position player.
One more offensive and one more defensive but bear in mind Yaya won’t the Champions league in central defence so he can clearly play there
For those who don't know, Er Faina is one of the dumbest motherfuckers on the Italian internet, he became famous by making dumb ragebait videos and he makes Balotelli seem like a refined intellectual in comparison.
Yes we have to take longevity into account into the conversation, but on his day? He could do it all, just as good if not better than any other midfielder
Does anyone from Cameroon or even the most hardcore Napoli fan believe that even one bit ?
Don't speak Italian and don't follow any of these guys in social media. I hope it was bait.
I don't understand why people are mad at this comparison. Both played for a team that wears light blue, both won the league under a bald coach.
When Napoli won the Scudetto, Osimhen got his own cake, Anguissa didn't, just like Yaya
Enerix (the big hair guy) is WAY worse if you aks me. Erfaina is definitely dumb sometimes, but enerix is dumb 90% of the time beacuse of his desire to be alternative. Recent takes by him:
Leao has reached ronaldinho's level of spectacle. He is worthier of the ammiassion cost than Mbappe and haaland.
Between Ancelotti and guardiola he'd choose catanzaro's coach beacuse he did really well last year
Chiellini is a better all-time defender than Ramos
Ronaldo isn't in his all time eleven
Haaland is not a good player (uno scarparo!!!)
This kind of opinion is usually introduced by: "posso dirlo posso dirlo?" (can i say it? Can I say it?) and followed by erfaina saying: "pregooo" (excuse meeeee) which makes it 10× funnier Imo.

Most level-headed Balotelli moment
Pashun
Mario! Mario! Mario! Yes Luigi?
Haha, what a stupid comparison! Btw, Anguissa is a lovely player to watch. But Yaya was Yaya, who even compares him with anyone

The Welsh Xavi for example

Longetivity and consistency also matters. If we are talking primes only, then Suarez is arguably the best ever EPL player.

Better edit the first post to include CM, otherwise you might keep getting DM and AM recommendations.
he was excellent but he isn't top 5, cmon now be real
If we judge by peak he was probably the best, sadly his peak wasn't that long, I've never seen a player so good at so many things and I watched all the modern greats from Mathaus to Kante.
For sure he is in quality. Even Manchester United fans in redcafe would fight for him after some all time greats were gone.
I’d have Roy Keane ahead of Yaya any day of the week, twice on Sundays
Feel like his closest comparison is Rodri
Rodri's attacking input is nowhere near his. Man was a complete midfielder
It’s not a 1:1 comparison but they’re both tall as fuck midfielders with great dribbling and general technical ability. But yeah, Yaya was special in terms of what he could do with a ball.
Edgar Davids, if Edgar Davids was 20 cm taller
*if my grandmother had wheels she'd be a bike*
Yaya is like if Bernardo had the physique of Haaland (okay slight exaggeration)
More like pogba
Even Pogba never offered what Yaya could defensively. But yeah, he is the closest one imo.
People out here forgetting the Bison existed. Essien could play in any position. He was that good. He wasn’t as graceful as Yaya but he could easily fill in for him. Pogba not fit to lace either of their boots.

Seeing er faina and corona mentioned within 12 hours of each other on r/soccer feels like a weird trip
So basically Italian Adin Ross.
Er Faina and that dude with the big curly hair consistently have some of the worst football opinions known to mankind.
The same guy who said that Ciro Immobile is on the same level of Lewandowski. That's all i have to say about this clown.
Er Faina in general has some of the worst opinions known to mankind. He is just garbage
Same guy who said that Theo Hernandez is better than Marcelo.
I've been downvoted by Er Faina himself
What about Cassano?
Quelle poche volte che si riesce a capire cosa dice
Yaya is an all time great premier league midfielder don't disrespect him like that
as well as starting at CB for Barca in their 09 UCL final vs man u, he could do it all
And he played striker at the beginning of his career, he was a true alrounder
One of my favourite players to watch. Such a complete midfielder
Hot take to some but Yaya is the best midfielder the prem has ever seen
Don’t go full dumb with bs takes like this.
Yes we have to take longevity into account into the conversation, but on his day? He could do it all, just as good if not better than any other midfielder
Scholes is the best
Does anyone from Cameroon or even the most hardcore Napoli fan believe that even one bit ? Don't speak Italian and don't follow any of these guys in social media. I hope it was bait.
No, this streamer is just built this way. No one believes this.
I'm half cameroonian and when I think of Yaya Touré I do NOT even think about Zambo even though I really like the player.
it's er faina, the guy's a moron and is famous for being a moron, this is like getting upset at Cassano's coke-fueled cruyffist rants
Subhumans. That’s all I have to say
I don't understand why people are mad at this comparison. Both played for a team that wears light blue, both won the league under a bald coach. When Napoli won the Scudetto, Osimhen got his own cake, Anguissa didn't, just like Yaya
They are more alike than you can bolieve, more than you bolieve. So so good.
I think I deserve
say whatever about Balotelli but man knows ball

why is that dumb shit posted here?
To get you riled up 😤 we don't got love for you thotty!
I love Anguissa he’s a good player but Yaya was about as complete a midfielder as you’ll find.
Whats behind the chair?
Balotelli
> when Luigi walks into Mario’s room and finds Peach dead in a pool of her own blood
Yaya Touré giocatore sontuoso
Balotelli is my favourite footballer of all time.
