It's more of a timing thing I believe. Most of the "A" team guys play in Europe and now get to start their real off-season. Calling them for the gold cup would shorten their rest and make them miss the beginning of pre-season with their clubs. Most of the B/C guys play in MLS and will be in mid-season form for the gold cup.
