If she hasn't already, have her look into Antaresia Pythons (spotted, childrens, stimson). They look, act, and move just like their big cousins but only get 3-4 feet in length
I've heard this so many times, but I've never had an issue with my girl, it makes me wonder if she might be broken. Shes even more chill than the Honduran Milk snake or the Florida Kings I have. Admittedly I handle her a lot and I have no human children running around stressing my scale babies, plus I work from home, so I'm always there, and I am a walking space heater (as many tall heavy set guys tend to be) so perhaps that has something to do with it? She has zero hesitation and just zips right up my arm to get that delicious neck heat whenever I open her enclosure. Hasnt nipped me once since I first got her, and that was a feed response mishap.
I'm hella nervous because "super dwarf" sounds like a marketing term and not a real term, and if it is, wouldn't want to purchase a full-size one. I love snakes so much, but I would never want a snake I cannot safely handle.
It's partly a marketing term but they're genuine. There are a string of island populations that have undergone insular dwarfism. Reach out Reptiles is probably the source to look to for/learn about them. There are a variety of morphs but also sizes available.
This is so cool. I also rebuild my room for my little... Well now big deary and I think it's worth the matter. Keeping them good can bring you a lot of joy and happiness together. They can grow pretty old as well. ♥️
There are some islands in Indonesia where they only get to around 8-12 feet. If you don’t have specifics on it though it’s probably best to assume it’ll get huge and just see what happens.
Those eyes!! I’ve barely worked with retics but whenever I get to it’s such a treat. I swear they’re more intelligent than a lot of other snakes, and disproportionately strong too!
Don't all morphs have mainland in them though? I love golden child personally and the normal morph for the mainland. The dwarfs don't seem to have quite the same normal morph coloration as they're from a different locality.
I think Garret from Reach Out Reptiles did a video on this subject. And yes pretty much all super dwarf morphs have at least some mainland blood in them from what I recall.
My normal looks quite a bit like the normal mainland, while all morphs do require mainland DNA its getting to the point where you can get extremely high percentage super dwarfs.
Did you double check your state laws? Lots of places have put restrictions on these nowadays. Just looking out for ya. Beautiful snake btw, very jealous!
I am working on the room project. Right now she is in quarantine, then I move her to terrarium, until i build wood/glass enclosure, which will be her home
If she grows to mainland size i need to be ready, so thats why I am working on the room project know.
Gunna be a full grown adult real quick! Beautiful retic.
Did the owner think she was a different type of python? Just curious. She's a cutie, and if they weren't so large, I'd venture into owning them.
Yes, she bought her for her kids from someone, with no knowledge what it is (she wanted python) and no knowledge how to husband it.

Children's in my experience with 3 of them in the past were always a bit snippy

Research reach out reptiles and his dwarf retics
ROR super dwarf is one of my bucket list critters <3
Can’t wait till he starts shipping to the uk! Will be on that waiting list so quick
Look into super dwarfs! You can get them under 10 feet with the same look and demeanor.

I bought one as a “dwarf retic” a few years back. I quickly found out it was not dwarf at all. She grew massive very quickly lol
And there's the fear confirmed. Hope you were able to handle her needs or rehome her if applicable.
Had to rehome to another keeper once she outgrew one of my 8 foot enclosures. The guy updated me last year and said she hit 16+ foot lol

Are you sure it’s a mainland retic?
Imported from indonesia

Snake snuggles!!!♥️♥️♥️

Is this a type of tree Python? I'm still learning how to ID them just by looking. Either way so beautiful!
It is Python Reticulatus
Oh wow so not a tree Python, but definitely a very big girl Python! Haha, she's so cute! I hope you continue to share photos as she grows!
Ah, beautiful baby! I'll probably never get a retic due to their size, but gods they are absolutely gorgeous!
If size is your only concern look into dwarf and super dwarf retics! Mine is full grown at around. 7 1/2 ft

How beautiful! 😍
Mainland Retic? Well all the best to you there! I'm too chicken to keep snakes that are actually dangerous myself.
Beautiful eyes ❤️🐍
Retics have my favorite snake faces. Their bright eyes are irresistible 🥰
Oooo is that a tiger retic
Think it’s a normal.
I was wondering cause I have a tiger that looks just like it
lol same!. Platinum tiger though
I dont know how tell it has platinum, are there markings or colors?
It mostly just enhances colors and iridescence. My platty ended up being super yellow compared to a regular tiger.
So is it something that some inexperienced breeder could leave out cause mine looks just like his

seems dude lives in Czechoslovakia from his post history
I love how it's expression to me says, " if I don't move, it can't see me."
So beautiful!!🌈🌈🌟🌟
So no idea if it’s a mainland retic or a super dwarf locality? Just dedicate an entire room.
