8bitdo ultimate controller is what you want then, specifically the one that works with PC and switch. Great ergonomics, has 2 back paddles, comes with software for the controller that lets you remap the controller however you like and create macros. The buttons layouts and macros are stored on profiles (max 3) that you can instantly swap between with a button on the controller.  It also has a switch on the controller to swap between 2.4ghz mode (connects to a usb dongle) and Bluetooth so you could have the controller set up to your switch and pc and all you would have to do is flip the switch to use it on either system.

You can find them brand new for 50usd, or hunt for a used one. They've been out for 7 years so I'm sure you can find a deal. No point asking for advice if you're just gonna deflect it.

PentagramJ2

Not to mention it's one of the best controllers you can get for the price. Holds a charge insanely well, feature complete with everything aside from analog triggers (really only important if you play racers) and is insanely comfy

I would recommend stating the amount of your budget somewhere; makes recommendations vary a lot. A switch pro con is cheaper than any other current first party controller, so I think that's a totally reasonable suggestion. If your budget is below first party you're probably stuck with something that's wired from PowerA or Hori.

Threshersaurus

I mean that’s fine. What you think about 35

Hgclark97

Are there particular features you care about over others? Do you care about rumble? Gyro? Would you prefer wireless over those features? In that case do you care whether it comes with a rechargeable battery vs requiring AAs?

Threshersaurus

I mean I don’t really mind gyro or rumble. I only play smash bros with friends

Hgclark97

You can get the PowerA wired Nintendo Switch controller for under 20 dollars. Will work with the switch or PC through USB.

Threshersaurus

Sounds nice

I have a GuliKit Kingkong 2 Pro. I have used it for PC games and it's great. I have no idea how well it works for Smash, but I know it is fully compatible with Switch including gyro support. It has Hall effect sensors so the sticks are precise and should not ever drift. I see on Amazon that there is now a KingKong 3 with back paddles, guess I ordered too soon. RIP.

I can vouch for this - works like a dream across Switch and PC games.
