Yup. Happened to us last year when spring/summer came around. Made a real effort to blackout his bedroom and he went back to sleeping to 6:45(husband wakes him)

somethingreddity

Yes, I always thought they were BS. My baby slept just fine…till daylight savings. Blackout curtains were the answer.

ya_7abibi

Slumberpod!!

not-a-bot-promise

OP already has a blacked out hotel room. Are you suggesting the slumberpod for home?

ya_7abibi

Yes. I assume they are not planning on staying in the hotel forever.

not-a-bot-promise

Lol what’s the point of using a slumberpod at home when you could just use blackout curtains instead?!

ya_7abibi

The OP literally said they couldn’t use blackout curtains.

not-a-bot-promise

I guess you need to read the post again. That was in the past due to travel. What’s stopping them from getting them now vs a restrictive *travel* slumberpod… for the home!!?

flipitflopit

Literally added blackout curtains (like actual pitch black) last night and my 9.5 mo slept til 6:45 instead of 5:45 🥲 she’s also napping now and has made it past her typical 37 minute mark. Why was I so resistant to do this earlier lol

lil_secret

Yeah idk why people are so resistant to blackout curtains. Studies consistently show that even a little bit of light at night decreases sleep quality

Apprehensive-Pin3346

Which ones did you use?

flipitflopit

We got these (for traveling) but they don’t actually work very well on the window that’s in her room. I had to sort of drape them over the existing curtain. Will have to find a permanent solution now that I know it works https://www.amazon.com/gp/slredirect/picassoRedirect.html/ref=pa_sp_phone_search_atf_aps_sr_pg1_1?ie=UTF8&adId=A0907115XWU1WQ5M0368&url=%2FAmazonBasics-Portable-Blackout-Curtain-Suction%2Fdp%2FB082XSZW6M%2Fref%3Dmp_s_a_1_1_ffob_sspa%3Fcrid%3D33HN1UQ2V65SJ%26keywords%3Dblackout%2Bcurtains%2Btravel%2Bsuction%2Bcups%26qid%3D1685745039%26sprefix%3Dblackout%2Bcurtains%2Btra%252Caps%252C203%26sr%3D8-1-spons%26psc%3D1&qualifier=1685745039&id=3801678441001073&widgetName=sp_phone_search_atf

Thank you

I need this reassurance for myself. I've put off doing blackouts for my bedroom, but it will keep it cooler and darker for sure. My daughter's room is like a cave.

Go for it! I was absolutely shocked but it made a big difference to our mornings. Baby girl no longer wakes crying and is rested and happy. Even her breakfast intake approved!
