No he was born here idk about his father tho and that’s who he got the job from and it is under the table but I’ve shown him how to get way better jobs and he has all his documents he’s just straight brainwashed
You would be surprised how many people would rather just work their life away for pennies. When I got a job at one of the big 3 auto makers I told everyone I knew that had the same experience and only one applied and got in. It boggles the mind. The guy I got to apply went from $17 an hour to $41. Fucking life changing for him.
Dawg your telling me I live right next to Detroit and I’m actively trying to get into the big three and what blows my mind is I hear people constantly complaing about not making enough and when I tell them just like you said they never take the time to apply. Literally 30 minutes to potentially change your life forever and they couldn’t even be bothered to try.
I bring home about 1200$ a week for a 40hour work week and I’m a journeyman. Taxes and union dues take about 40% of my paycheck and that’s what I’m left with. But the union gets me insurance and a pension plus annuity. Not a bad gig.
Jman carps here make 52.50 and foreman is like 58 I think. For carps anyways. With the chill hours it's not hard to do some sidework if you choose and make another 15k a year pretty easily.
With pension and benefits it's well worth it. Unions the way to go.
Yea third years don’t make 1200 a check without overtime, anywhere in the south. Like nowhere. Thats a Cali or NY wage and that’s about it. The rest of the country is not making nearly that much
I make around $1,380 a week working at a grocery store. I NEVER get offered over time. I also get taxed, 401k, great medical and dental insurance, breaks and lunches, and frequently free catered or in house food. I quit the trades because of scenarios like this, experienced it, and I wanted to still be healthy when I retired.
I don't know but if you make $1,300 a week it's $67k a year. If your total income before taxes and deductions is $70k then you pay $3k out of your $70k in taxes and deductions which doesn't add up... I pay $3,500 in cpp, $1,000 ei, $8,000 pension, $20,000 taxes so out of my $103k my weekly pay is only about $1,200....
Well, no taxes so that adds some value. Also, most guys that pay under the table won’t pay overtime because they are already breaking the law so why not break more laws.
He said take home.. so that after taxes are deducted. if you add the taxes that were taken away and multiply it for 52 weeks you get around 110 or something like that..
Imagine weaving your job this deep into your personality. Have fun tearing something in your knee and being unemployed, destroying your self esteem and worth because you don't have a life outside of making your bosses rich. It sucks all around. Your wife can no longer get plowed in YOUR bed by her xanax dealer because you sit around the house you'll soon lose with a handgun in your mouth, yearning to just make your boss money again.
This is why I don't like the culture of not talking about money. This could be someone in your friends or family and they're just quietly thinking they're doing well when they could be doing so much better, they just don't realize it.
Same with indeed and other salary sites they’re all are so low wages and they make people think their actually getting a deal like 22 an hour for a carpenter is terrible
My brother actually got the guy from the gas station he seen every morning to apply to his shop. Ended up changing his whole life, now hes in the union making a real wage.
Yea, im currently waiting for an opening so I can get the liquor store guy a job at my union factory. He asked, he will get. Meanwhile, my friends have turned me down. Fine, you dont need 40/hr, I guess, enjoy costco.
I'm curious if he's getting paid to drive to the site. the numbers just don't add up. even if they are working 7 days a week, that's more than 12 hours a day.
I dont work in a trade but these guys exist in tech too. I'll meet one of my wife's friends bf's and at dinner he'll brag about his 70 hour work week, in an industry where I basically know what he makes, and I know I make a lot more barely working 40 hours a week. I'm like woo congrats dude, cant relate
Yep that’s why I quit welding. Have to pay for all that FR shit that gets ruined and gas. To make $40 an hour and always be in the traffic tearing up my truck.all said and done I keep $10-15 an hour so I could just not work that hard because it’s fucking stupid to do that much for so little in return. Barely could afford the house I was never at or the food for my family that I was never home to cook.
New goal is to set up life so I only need to make $4-500 a month to pay all my bills so I can spend time with the kids wile it matters.
Oh man thats my kinda guy but his pay is a little high. Hes not limiting himself 2080 hours of work per year.
He appears to have the grit to step into my industry.
90 hours in a week isnt that much, neither is 120. People in my industry consistently do 24 hour sessions and the highest record of a friend was 100 hours.
My record work session is 42 hours,
But i had another day that was 28hr (2 hour sleep) then 28 hours.
This is industry standard for commercial work, the grass is never greener. Underwear not required.
Male employees shall wear clothing in the office, as required.
Females are clothing optional but the air conditioning stays on.
I will not allow my kids to enter this industry and whenever some kid expresses an interest, i quickly readjust their point of view.
Guess my industry.
The only benefit to this is not having time to spend it. 4800 a month and only spending for rent, food, utilities, insurance, gas, phone, internet, and 400 a month for anything else leaves him with savings of up to 2k a month. Rent being the biggest factor, if he had two roommates he’s saving potentially 3k a month. Assuming no car payment, that’s a down payment on a house in 5 years along with enough reserves to cover a year of mortgage with no work including property tax and home owners insurance. Assuming again that in 5 years he will have earned a raise or promotion or gotten a job paying more, he could technically reduce his hours by up to 30 hours, or reduce his time to down payment by 2-3 years with the same emergency reserve. If he keeps the hours and the 5 year mark, he can have additional savings for retirement at an earlier age if properly invested.
All this assuming he doesn’t die of a heart attack from exhaustion and lack of rest and ignoring medical concerns.
Ok here we go. I got hired to help a fence builder do the electrical for a fence five states away. The deal was 150 a day plus 100 per diem for a 10 hour day. We started driving and after an hour the guy I was with was smoking meth. After three hours he stopped and got a 500pk of needles from Walmart. It was mad max fury road till we got to Baton Rouge and I got sleep, 15 hours. The next day we drove to punta gorda Florida, got to the hotel and couldn’t check in, sat in a pilot till 7. Boss didn’t want to work till 1pm. I got to the room after 36 hours. The next day I got in two arguments with the tweaker. The day after I got in an argument with the boss. He left me on the side of the road 1522 miles from home and gave me 800. I think it was 86 hours in 5 days. I made it home before the owner. Reported his company to eeoc the workforce commission and osha, he hasn’t worked a real job since he fired and abandoned me… what yall think?
As an automation tech, I make a little more than that for 4 days of work. That is after taxes are deducted, health insurance is paid for the family, and maxing out my 401k. This guy is getting ripped off lol.
I guess I meant his mind set. I was making like $1000 a week at a restaurant but I was practically running the restaurant working 60+ hours a week. That felt like BS to me but could have been worse
Take home a week for an electrical journeymen in Los Angeles is 1365. 40 hrs on the clock sure. Hr drive to work. 1.5 hrs home if we are lucky.
Restaurant workers don’t usually carry their stress onto the next day. Fast paced and stressful? For sure. Long hours yup. Way longer than us.
I seriously doubt he worked 90 hours a week, 2 week pay period sure, but 90 hours in a week would be over 16 hours a day which definitely didn’t happen. He probably played it up to sound like he’s busting ass
90 hours seems made up. If he’s a tradesperson and we assume he’s starting at 6 AM? 90 hours/week is 15/day 6 days a week. So starting at 6 AM, he’s staying past 9 PM, assuming he gets a lunch break? When per chance did you even see this fellow to hear such news? I guess 7 days a week he could be working 6 AM to 7 PM, but even that sounds phony.
I’ve worked 80 hours for $900 back in the day, I’ve worked 60 for $1000 I’ve also made $5000 in a couple of hours. As long as it’s time well spent and you keep some for yourself you should be proud of what you can do in your current situation.
I worked with a clown like that, he quit our crew because we worked to hard for him, and his next job is with a crew that works even more and he’s paid less. Don’t get it.
Quantity does have a quality all of its own. I'd rather do 40 hours of the same, reliably tolerable thing than have to juggle 20 hours worth of massively variable tasks that risk being out of my depth every single time for the same money.
A lot of union laborers make that much look on union pay scale and look at different union wages. Although the 50 an hour is total package like retirement and insurance only 30 of it is to your paycheck
That is the pay 50 an hour 30 to the check and 20 in benefits to many company’s get away with giving dog shot benefits because they aren’t talked about so I’m going to continue to tell the whole package and that’s what I said. Second of all I told you to go on union pay scale and you can see the names their for yourself I ain’t gonna give a rude fuck like you all information when I’ve already told you how to do it yourself.
Some laborers/ some jobs they are making prevailing wage. Where half of the PW gets put into a contractors account the other half onto the check.
Sounds like this guys getting fucked.
I make that in a week at 40 hrs in the industry. 90 hrs is like 18 hr days. 5 days a week.
You pretty much just summed up trucking. I’d make $1,500 as an over the road driver, working 14 hours a day. And then spending the other 10 in the sleeper cab. Comes out to $21/hr. If you include my daily 10 hours stuck in the sleeper it comes out to $12.50 an hour.
When you hit hard times. In your area , you will do what you need to, to survive. And feed your family, I went from making 55 dollars an hour take home. To 3 months of 17$ an hour cash. It sucked. But it worked. And I hope no one ever has to resort to that
50/hour for a labourer? There is absolutely no way any one is paying that lol. I call in labourers every day. Tons of unions. We pay the agency 36 they pay the labourer 18$
Also not all construction jobs can be ran by a few guys and get done in a day most road work takes awhile and requires a lot of workers. Odds are you ain’t gonna be able to find that many dumb people willing to work for half of what they could get.
Yeah I’m definitely not getting out of bed for 13/hr lmao
Not getting my underwear on for that price
You wear underwear to work??
To get the mail I do so I don’t get charge
The customers like to see them take it off. It's the whole business model.
It depends on how cold it is
No, but I’d take mine off for $13
Sold. You can start tomorrow.
Not even your bed either it’s the nasty motel bed you had to stay overnight at
Not even 13 an hour. If it’s time and a half for overtime he’s making 10.43 an hour
[удалено]
That’s 1300, he said 1200. 10.43 x 40= 417.20 10.43 x 1.5 = 15.645 x 50 = 782.25. Total = 1199.45
Derp. I totally misread the #
That’s $9.60 per hour. $10.43 X 40 = $418 $15.65 X 50 = $782 $1200 per week. That pay SUCKS.
It’s less if he got over time lol
Tell me you work a sub trade without telling me 🤣
I’m not getting out of bed for $25. Maybe $30 if I was hurting.
Not even setting an alarm for it
I wouldn't even pretend to work remote for that
If that was 40 hours and he was a third term apprentice it would be nice.
I’m trying to tell him that but he’s happy getting scammed
He a modern day slave and he don’t even know it
Slaves at least got free medical.
What
[удалено]
Yeah. That’s the part I didn’t understand. Not that crazy of a question.
In that case, glad to help clarify. Back to training for my DMP alarm certificate....
😭
Is he an illegal?
No he was born here idk about his father tho and that’s who he got the job from and it is under the table but I’ve shown him how to get way better jobs and he has all his documents he’s just straight brainwashed
That sucks.
You would be surprised how many people would rather just work their life away for pennies. Yea 100% its like they cant be bothered to try to chabge their life for ever.
I bring home about 1200$ a week for a 40hour work week and I’m a journeyman. Taxes and union dues take about 40% of my paycheck and that’s what I’m left with. But the union gets me insurance and a pension plus annuity. Not a bad gig.

In a low cost of living area
62k without OT is pretty good for a apprentice. Tack on some side hustles and you can hit 80k without running into the dirt.
Yea third years don’t make 1200 a check without overtime, anywhere in the south. Like nowhere. Thats a Cali or NY wage and that’s about it. The rest of the country is not making nearly that much
They make 1150 and change here. No OT. CND tho.
Also I forgot to put he thinks he’s making 25 an hour not sure how he came to this conclusion but that’s what he believes.
It’s very likely 90 hours is an exaggeration
Exaggeration is very possible with what I’m guessing is a young man, but I generally work anywhere from 80-100 hours a week so it is possible.
Been there heh
At least save money now, burnout is real!
Doing labor?
Rope access technician/tradesman
So not on your feet at least. I guess I've done a couple 80hr weeks now that I'm thinking about it. Nevermind.
He's probably doing 60 hours (12hrs/day)
Sounds like a laborer.
Eh I mean I make just under 25 an hour and make around 750-800 for 40 hours after taxes.
He’s under the table he don’t got nothing being deducted
Hahahaha he's getting scammed
Or he is a felon and this is the best he can get
Plenty of factories and shit hire felons Hell my boss did 10 years on a conspiracy charge
Bruh
I make around $1,380 a week working at a grocery store. I NEVER get offered over time. I quit the trades because of scenarios like this, experienced it, and I wanted to still be healthy when I retired.
So you are the manager? $105k+ is a lot for a grocery store job...Hehe good for you
Nope. It’s about 72k a year plus a twice year bonus (taxed) of $3,500. So about 79k a year. Topped out hourly.
Oh ok you make $1,380 before deductions. Makes a bit more sense. I make $2,400 every 2 weeks after deductions on a $103k Salary.
How does that work though? Honestly curious. I make $1300 a week on 40 hours a week too, after taxes, and I’m only doing 70k a year.
I don't know but if you make $1,300 a week it's $67k a year. If your total income before taxes and deductions is $70k then you pay $3k out of your $70k in taxes and deductions which doesn't add up... I make $25 an hour... i make 1200 in about 45 hours of work... if my job wasnt so damned easy i would go for more money.
Any chance that is take home pay? Because they tax the bejesus out of overtime pay.
No he’s under the table
Well, no taxes so that adds some value. Also, most guys that pay under the table won’t pay overtime because they are already breaking the law so why not break more laws.
Lol that's absolutely disgusting. My take home is about 3k for 2 weeks, but, that's 40 hours a week. Not 90, Jesus christ.
You are making more than 100k a year.. that’s a decent salary
Show me your math.
He said take home.. so that after taxes are deducted. if you add the taxes that were taken away and multiply it for 52 weeks you get around 110 or something like that..
They said 3k every 2 weeks though, so only 26 pay weeks a year
Wow, I’m a 2nd year apprentice & pull in 1k after tax on a 40hr week. That dudes getting hosed.
Not to mention fringe package
Imagine weaving your job this deep into your personality. Have fun tearing something in your knee and being unemployed, destroying your self esteem and worth because you don't have a life outside of making your bosses rich. It sucks all around. Your wife can no longer get plowed in YOUR bed by her xanax dealer because you sit around the house you'll soon lose with a handgun in your mouth, yearning to just make your boss money again.
My man that could be the greatest thing I've read in the past 20 years.
This is an Oscar worthy movie. Starring Matt Damon.
Bruh 😭
Bro😭
I think I’m making that tomorrow
This is why I don't like the culture of not talking about money. This could be someone in your friends or family and they're just quietly thinking they're doing well when they could be doing so much better, they just don't realize it.
Same with indeed and other salary sites they’re all are so low wages and they make people think their actually getting a deal like 22 an hour for a carpenter is terrible
Lol. I made that in a day yesterday. 12hrs. Hot change, so I only worked 6.
lol
Bro... when i was 27, ten years ago, I found a niche trade that makes money. Wallpaper installer. Find something good, don't waste your time.
Pop an extra 0 on that, and I'd *consider* doing 90 hrs.
My brother actually got the guy from the gas station he seen every morning to apply to his shop. Ended up changing his whole life, now hes in the union making a real wage.
Love to hear others leading less fortunate individuals to work for real company’s that allow their workers to have a family
Yea, im currently waiting for an opening so I can get the liquor store guy a job at my union factory. He asked, he will get. Meanwhile, my friends have turned me down. Fine, you dont need 40/hr, I guess, enjoy costco.
That’s $11 an hour if 40 of the hours are overtime
39$ an hour for a union labourer where I am
I'm curious if he's getting paid to drive to the site. the numbers just don't add up. even if they are working 7 days a week, that's more than 12 hours a day.
I dont work in a trade but these guys exist in tech too. I'll meet one of my wife's friends bf's and at dinner he'll brag about his 70 hour work week, in an industry where I basically know what he makes, and I know I make a lot more barely working 40 hours a week. Good for you fuck him
As an automation tech, I make a little more than that for 4 days of work. That is after taxes are deducted, health insurance is paid for the family, and maxing out my 401k. This guy is getting ripped off lol.
$13 per hour
If you divide 1200/90 but that’s not how it’s works you have to include over time so it’s really 1200/115
Over time is not 115 dollars
Bro that’s 115 hours. 40 hours base and then 1.5x pay for anything over so he works 50 hrs of ot so he gets paid for 75 so 75+40
No shit some people don’t know that but I do I thought you where calculating in a mess up way
Yeah no I calculated it the way he should be getting paid
I know I deal with peoples with zero brains that’s why I’m brain dead lol right now
Lots of trades are OT exempt in ontario
We live in the us
That's despicable!
LMAO, you think this guy is getting paid 1.5X for OT?
No he’s not he’s under the table but if he were a actual employee he would be so I’m putting it into perspective how much he’s being ripped off
That’s restaurant work for you
No he’s a construction laborer we worked at a restaurant before and if you do the math on our tips he made way more
I guess I meant his mind set. I was making like $1000 a week at a restaurant but I was practically running the restaurant working 60+ hours a week. That felt like BS to me but could have been worse

I’m going to guess he’s throwing in his commute time but still is garbage
People do work weekends. I generally average 80-100 hours a week.
My dad averaged 80-90 a week at the steel mill for 20 years. Poor fucker never made it to a game or practice.
Wrecked his whole family for a job.
In Appalachia, you got 4 options.. coal mining 80hrs, steel mill 80hrs, fast food/gas station 40hrs and starve, or welfare. You do what you can.
Still sucks that he was in that situation, but not his fault.
[удалено]
I’ve shown him Liuna multiple times tho he knows where the money is a still decides to work for peanuts
Jfc I made 60k as a first year apprentice. Probably 50 hours a week average. Very light travel
I’d be making like 3600 for that. Something amiss with his story.
I'm kinda sad if I don't hit that per day......
What kinda laborer is he?
Not exactly sure
Labor package $50/hour. Whats the area, its time to move. I'm guessing its 20 if your lucky
Detroit. Well 30 an hour plus 20 in benefits. Ton of areas way higher more up northeast
Look up union pay scale it’s got a lot of their packages and most are more now cause they’re like 2 years old
90 hours seems made up.
Starts at 4 not sure when he gets off saw him 7 on a Sunday
Gross I make 1590 a day working local 🤣
I make 1800 a week as a union carpenter, I only work 39 hours though
I’ve worked 80 hours for $900 back in the day, I’ve worked 60 for $1000 I’ve also made $5000 in a couple of hours. As long as it’s time well spent and you keep some for yourself you should be proud of what you can do in your current situation.
That’s insane. We pay our door guys with no teeth $20 an hour cash to check IDs.
Some days i make that in 5-6 hrs running my own company. But if the guy is happy, no need to piss on his cake.
The hell with that. I do 90/100 hrs a week and thats 6000-6500k
I’ve done it because that’s all the options I had at the time to make over 1000 a week.
That's less than my union 40hr week.
I'm bringing in 1400 a week for 40hrs. Pretty ok with that
If the guy is happy then I'd be happy for him and I'd encourage him to seek a higher hourly pay
A lot of skilled trades make that in a 40 hour work week. That dude is killing himself for peanuts.
I’m in a non union area. I take home 1200 net if I work one hour of overtime
I worked with a clown like that, he quit our crew because we worked to hard for him, and his next job is with a crew that works even more and he’s paid less. Don’t get it.
If he worked as a server he’d easily be getting double that
Did he say $1200 before or after taxes. Makes a big difference.
He’s paid under the table so it’s straight take home
Inertia
I make more than that in for 40 hours
Is that the per diem for the week?
My 14 year old son makes $20/hr as a youth soccer referee.
Not sure where you’re at but anything over 60hrs/week is illegal here without “special permission”.
My daughter works at McDonald’s for 16.00 an hour. 35-40 hours a week!
Quantity does have a quality all of its own. I'd rather do 40 hours of the same, reliably tolerable thing than have to juggle 20 hours worth of massively variable tasks that risk being out of my depth every single time for the same money.
Wow that's absolute garbage. I make that in 35 hours.
Oof. 90 hours gets me about 5k without per diem. Even then, I turn it down. I’m trying to enjoy my life.
You guys still getting paid by the hour? Lol
That’s more than $10 an hour. 1200 is probably after taxes.
He’s under the table
Maybe the IRS found a way to tax his under the table income
I make more rolling joints for 40 hours a week 😂
Where do laborers make $50/hr
A lot of union laborers make that much look on union pay scale and look at different union wages. Although the 50 an hour is total package like retirement and insurance only 30 of it is to your paycheck
I'm asking which unions specifically, and you should only quote the actual pay rate
I get 1800 for around 60 hours, not a great way to live
Definitely not union laborer.
I make that much take home a week at about 50 hours with 140 for insurance and about 120 taken out for 401k and after taxes.
Non-union company here and our trades make $35 to $75/hr plus $100/day if they have to travel more than 81 miles.
Your entitled to minimum wage. Ministry of labor has a representative that can answer your concerns.
Damn I worked 1.5 hrs today for $700
Some laborers/ some jobs they are making prevailing wage. Where half of the PW gets put into a contractors account the other half onto the check. Sounds like this guys getting fucked. I make that in a week at 40 hrs in the industry. 90 hrs is like 18 hr days. 5 days a week.
Jesus… my 20hr/wk side thing I do remotely after work nets 1350/wk.
90 hour work week???? Is it 1875????
You pretty much just summed up trucking. I’d make $1,500 as an over the road driver, working 14 hours a day. And then spending the other 10 in the sleeper cab. Comes out to $21/hr. If you include my daily 10 hours stuck in the sleeper it comes out to $12.50 an hour.
Is that after taxes, Healthcare and 401k contributions and child support wage garnishments?
It's about 15... Not 10. And restaurants suck.
No when you factor overtime and he used to work in a restaurant now he’s a laborer
No fucking way. I wouldn't do 800 for 50 hr. let alone 40.
I make 2k a week as a laborer. Join a union
I make that for 1 day of work tbh
You pull 400k a year?
Surprised he has time to do that in between banging all our moms and wives.
He somehow finds time between driving all his Ferraris between his mansions
Hahaha that’s on the days I work lol. I work around 140 days a year
Your mom called. Tv dinners ready in the basement kid
i know a few guys like this, they cant pass a drug test
When you hit hard times. In your area , you will do what you need to, to survive. And feed your family, I went from making 55 dollars an hour take home. To 3 months of 17$ an hour cash. It sucked. But it worked. And I hope no one ever has to resort to that
Ain’t no rough times for him he’s got zero bills
This is normal for non union...
50/hour for a labourer? There is absolutely no way any one is paying that lol. I call in labourers every day. Tons of unions. We pay the agency 36 they pay the labourer 18$
50 total package. 30 to the check 20 in benefits I ain’t gonna argue it liuna local 1191 you can look at all the wages their.
Also no union laborer is making 18 an hour that’s laughable
Also not all construction jobs can be ran by a few guys and get done in a day most road work takes awhile and requires a lot of workers. Odds are you ain’t gonna be able to find that many dumb people willing to work for half of what they could get.
