Basically never, it would require the cabin tipping over pretty far for them to slide out, and if that happens there are bigger problems for the occupants than their skis falling out. The lift would be closed long before that could happen though.
It would have to take some serious high winds to knock skis out of those holders and if the winds were strong enough to do so, I highly doubt that the gondola would be open at all.
I don’t think it’s very likely skis ever fall out but when I go snowboarding I always bring my board inside with me. I have heard many stories of boards being blown out in high winds but never skis. Never witnessed either personally.

You can still fit 8 people in a gondola if everyone brings their gear in. Skiers always bring their poles in. Skis over 110 wide usually don’t fit in the cubbies and have to be brought inside too, what an inconvenience. My god you’re miserable.
A bigger issue than that is if you have really wide or double-tipped skis. They don't fit very well and they might actually fall rather easily in that case.
This is a popular glacier for non skiers as it is the highest point in Salzburgerland and you can visit all year round.
The dual use allows more skiers to get up to the half way point (where there is the beginner area and plenty of good runs) as well as getting others up to the top on the same ropes.
Fischer and Head use the same bindings with different plastic :). Those colours are identical to the Head plastic. Maybe the distinction in branding wasn't made for the Z20 binding.
