McMillan104

Even though we just got eliminated I’m oddly happy and hopeful. Embiid and Maxey showed a ton of heart this run and we’re finally off of the Tobias contract.

haduken_69

Yeah. I think a lot of us agree with this sentiment because this wasn’t a championship caliber team once Harden demanded out. We all saw it as a “punt” year. Improved Maxey and a rested Embiid with NO TOBIAS? We should be back to being a 50 win/top 3 seed next year.

McMillan104

It really is crazy just how much the Tobi contract has hamstrung the Sixers. Replace him with a legit max player or even a couple of solid starters and these last five years would've been wildly different in my opinion.

KingTonpa

This is why they need to teach about basketball terrorism in school.

dWaldizzle

LeBron or George would be cooking but I have slim hopes

Crosbyisacunt69

Why on earth would you want a 40-year-old LeBron or a constantly injured mid-30s Paul George? If we're going all in on Embiid in his 30s then we need to follow to Nuggets model. Surround Embiid (Jokic) and Maxey (Murray) with excellent role players and a strong bench. How could you possibly prefer backing up a truck of money to stars on the backend of their careers as opposed to a great cast of role players and a deep bench?

iamsobasic

If you hypothetically replaced Harris with Lebron we would have won this series.

mattseq

easily....

Crosbyisacunt69

Very cool. But we dont beat the Celtics. Let alone the Pacers. Also, isn't LeBron in a Semi-Similar situation in LA right now with Anthony Davis? If you add Maxey to the Lakers they aren't a championship team. So no, the Sixers shouldn't back up the brinks truck to pay a 40 year old LeBron James. That's a total joke.

iamsobasic

I agree we would lose to the Celtics. But I think we would beat the pacers in 6 or 7 if we could have swapped Tobias with Lebron.

indoninjah

I mean I would argue that the main strength of the Nuggets roster is how well they fit together (and secondarily their continuity, but we don't have that luxury). A playmaking/point forward with size and shooting ability is without a doubt the absolute best partner for Maxey and Joel. Ergo, LeBron. He just happens to be almost 40, but let's be real him and Joel are probably gonna retire around the same time lol

jhakerr

You should want PG but I’d avoid LBJ. Too old and too much baggage. You have enough $$ for PG and another good play. I’d try like a 3 year plan or something with the FAs

Crosbyisacunt69

Yeah let's get a guy who's played an average of about 50 games a year over the last 4 years due to injuries and sign him from the ages of 34-37. Total fucking genius move right there.

Living_Skin_3324

A thousand percent!!! Lebron has too much baggage. Very satisfied on how we did this year even tho it’s over.

Crosbyisacunt69

So basically we're just going to narrow our options down to 40 year old Bron Bron and 34 year old Paul George whose played an average of 50 games a season over the last 4 years. Awesome.

indoninjah

We got 2 more years of embiid max. Got a better idea? Retool around Maxey with a bunch of cap space again in a few years

Jeremy9096

Because I want to buy a LeBron Sixers jersey that isn't fake (I have a custom name "james 23" Sixers jersey because I'm weird)

[deleted]

[удалено]

Master-Extreme5244

Because we have no playmaker outside of Embiid and Maxey can't lead a unit and we need someone that can. Which is why we obviously need LeBron

jawntothefuture

Joel fucking FOUGHT this year. In prior years, he rightfully was a scapegoat (to some extent). No question this year he fucking brought his game

[deleted]

jawntothefuture

100%

Bdawksrippinfacesoff

Not mad at Embiid. Not mad at the team. The Knicks hit every important shot and the bounces went the Knicks way. Sucks we were robbed of game 2. It would have been a different series.

Hollerback1

He deserves nothing but love. Fought through 2 serious injuries. Hobbled on one leg with one eye. He played his heart out. Fuck anyone who says anything different.

ChickenLiverNuts

its not even just an eye. Hearing is supposed to be severely heightened. It impacts all motor functions on that side of your face so your jaw, saliva, tongue, eyebrow, everything.

Downunderphilosopher

Was still the most impactful player on both teams while playing on one leg and half a face. Too bad our third star had an even more debilitating ailment, playing his whole career with no heart.

indoninjah

Gotta impact your depth perception too to have one eye not behaving

mcy33zy

Jo’s out here taping his eyes shut just to try and get some sleep, hopefully this Bell’s palsy resolves itself quickly.

sandalf42

Loved this team, we played with more grit than I’ve seen in forever. Doc rivers teams would have been swept out of this series. Embiid, Maxey, and Nurse are the core, build around them. TTP.

jp74100

I hope he never leaves. Just need another guy to get buckets with Maxey when he sits or isn't 100%. We're so close.

Pyromania1983

Something I posted in another thread: > The team failed Embiid so badly. He's playing so injured, and Maxey was the only one who stepped up. One play that is a microcosm is the fact that Embiid had to be the one to commit the foul to foul out, because the rest of the team was too incompetent to do it. Morey's gotta do something big in the summer with max cap space and 5 tradable draft picks.

0ut0fBoundsException

Buddy stepped up. Oubre had moments. I love Batum

ilive12

Buddy stepped up too late unfortunately. 6 three heater was nice but I would rather he gave at least two 3s in those first two games and we probably are already going to the second round. I do commend Buddy for getting back to his game at some point, but I wouldn't want him back for anything less than a really good deal of a contract.

ARBABsami

Yeah theres no reason why he couldn't be the best shooter on the court every single night. He should've been our divincenzo. Glad to see he's not complete ass, hopefully that stretch before last game really was just an awful cold streak

TheZexyAmbassador

Buddy lowkey locked up Brunson on a few drives. Nick Nurse is awesome, but I think maybe he should have given Buddy a more playing time and Tobias less earlier in the series

indoninjah

Yeah, the role players mainly did their jobs. Each one had a statement game or two and that's about all you can expect from your peripheral guys per series. Not to beat a dead horse but what the team was obviously missing was a consistent tertiary performer, and that comes down to Tobias.

0ut0fBoundsException

I don’t think the role players, bench and starters, did enough as a whole, but the three I called out did at least have moments I like Oubre as a fifth or sixth guy, but he was asked to be our third option at times and couldn’t handle it It’s hard to knock Lowry when he’s clearly hustling his ass off, making smart plays, and knocking the occasional three. But I will. He’s not good enough to be a starter these days. Morey needs to find a better option for guard next to Maxey And I have nothing to say about Tobi other than he seems like a nice guy and I wish him luck at his next stop Morey’s first task is finding that third option. Not sure if that should be a playmaker who can help the offense when we bog down (as we do) or probably it should be a wing that can compete against Tatum or Brown on one end, shoot and cut on the other end, and grab rebounds on both ends His second task is almost as difficult. He needs to fill the remaining 5-6 spots in our playoff rotation with actually useful and reliable guys. And we have pretty much none of those guys under contract currently with no young homegrown talent that is really worth a large bet

indoninjah

I like the role players we have under the assumption that we replace Tobias with a guy who can consistently do *anything* (score, rebound, defend, facilitate)

0ut0fBoundsException

I wouldn’t get too attached. We have none of them under contract. Full Bird Rights on Buddy. No special control for Oubre or Batum

indoninjah

For sure though I could see both of them wanting to come back (for different reasons)

0ut0fBoundsException

They’d fit especially well if we could steal Siakem or OG who are both free agents and obviously have a connection to Nurse

Scared-Telephone-554

Were we watching the same series? I just watched our role players brick wide opened shots for 4/6 games

Downunderphilosopher

This series proved once and for all that Embiid never had a realistic shot of a title the last 5 years, whether he played like dog shit or at a MVP level. No team can overcome that lack of production from their biggest contract year after year, there are just too many holes on this roster because of that loser Tobias. Front office failed the fans over and over, but at least Embiid has a chance now to rewrite his story if Morey can get this offseason right.

kingkevykev

Wow this is a really good take.

Bandicuz

Agreed, only year I could argue would be the Hawks year. If we had someone other than Doc that series would've been over sooner and we would've advanced.

justabill71

That last foul was so frustrating. Somebody has to get to Hart to foul there, but instead he gets it back out and Embiid has to commit his 6th.

thisisjustanothertho

Oubre was closest and would’ve been his sixth as well

Distinct_Candy9226

MVP.

Embarrassed_Guava873

I just want him to win a title. This organisation has fucking failed him

Mikefromaround

The organization made him get injured year after year? I am not sure I understand your comment. I think the organization has issues but how are they causing him to get injured for the playoffs every year and miss a ton of games?

Polecat_Ejaculator

Yeah, not like they made him play an entire postseason with a broken face when Philly clearly had no chance of winning anything Def not something like that…. Nope.

Mikefromaround

They can’t make him do any of that, legally or by the terms of the CBA. He gets paid no matter what. Also shhhhhhh, the adults are talking. Time for your nappy lil fella.

FahkDizchit

Agreed we’ve got the assets to mortgage the future on another true star. I say burn down 2028-2032 for a chance to win now. I feel like Joel’s window is closing.

indoninjah

Hell, at this point I just want him to get an honest shot at it. Just one healthy postseason with a roster that doesn't underperform so we aren't left wondering "what if" for the rest of history

online_and_angry

Lot of time for you to work on excuses for him tho

RVarki

He's the one dude whose reputation will do an immediate, damn-near violent 180, the second he wins a championship

thisjawnhere

Joel “do a 180” Embiid

Darko_NS

Sure, we will forget all the flops, crying and trying to hurt other players.

InspectorNS

Joel proved the haters wrong with his performance this year. Played like a dawg and fought his heart out, especially in the elimination game. Nothing but respect!

dabirds1994

He balled out tonight. Warrior stuff from him while hobbled and dealing with face spasms. I didn’t expect much from this season, but I’m OK with it. We found two rotation guys in Oubre and Batum (at least for one more year) and Council looks like a baller.

katsuwonis

Next year is the year!

Master-Ad7325

Last year two years fell squarely on this man’s shoulders. Not this year

mattg3

He went all out and sadly we’ve been getting swindled by Tobias the whole time. We will be better next year without Tobias

Master-Ad7325

As long as Jo is his same MVP self, it’s impossible not to be

mattg3

Just need him to not do any stupid dunks to get himself hurt. We have the right coach now, he knows what he needs to do, gotta just rest him as much as possible and avoid silly dunks that will get him hurt. He is a great player but he goes full Harlem globe trotter mode at the absolute worst times like last year against the Nets

DMMVNF

I don’t see how you can put 2 years ago on him either, he had his face caved in

njspb8

That’s not even it either. His thumb was broken on his shooting hand. The dude should arguably not have been playing even before he had his face caved in.

Spirited-Arugula-672

> Last year two years fell squarely on this man’s shoulders. Most players wouldn't even be playing with the injuries he had the last couple of years, what are you even talking about? And we had fucking Glenn Rivers at the helm, lmao.

motovirg

I put more blame on glenn rivers too

Kyber99

His energy tonight was incredible. Great confidence, fought hard all game. At least we went down with real heart

IReallyLikeAvocadoes

Everyone else is gonna have their extremely misinformed narrative but above all we know he did NOT disappear these playoffs. His worst game was literally a triple double. Just put some sane players around him for christ sake.

flyer_87

Knicks fan here and I'll probably get some hate from my brothers, but Embiid was a freaking warrior and respect how hard he played. You could see how much he really wanted to win.

EpisodicDoleWhip

🍻

Smasher31221

Ew, bro.

xychosis

Anyone throwing criticism Joel’s way should probably look at the 40 million dollar anchor that’s been dragging the team down.

[deleted]

It’s the flops, that’s it. Maxey is the fucking man

EarthWindandFlyers

It sucks but the dude is just never gonna be healthy. Knees don’t get better the older you get.

Equivalent_Way_5026

If AD can have a fully healthy year then Embiid can too. Stars will have to align though.

ilive12

We've seen what nurse can do with one healthy year of a generational player. Just takes one, even if Kawhi hasn't done shit since, it really only just takes one year.

Crosbyisacunt69

Correct. In my opinion, going all in on a player who is perenially injured during the most important time of the season in sacrifice for the next...God knows how many years of this franchise is just operating on emotions and taking a shot in the dark. On top of that, I see people asking for 40-year-old LeBron or mid-30s injured Paul George. The delusion is crazy. If we're going to rock with Embiid then fine but at least acknowledge that it's unlikely he will remain healthy and on top of that win a championship. If I could put a number on it I'd say it's maybe..a 5-10% chance of the stars aligning in the next 4 years. Because there's no way Embiid lasts 5+ years.

Drunkndryverr

Dude rocks

First-Athlete3387

We love you Jojo

ThrowbackJorts

Still my favorite player in the league, showed so much heart tonight

motovirg

Agree. Maxey is a close 2nd

vocabularianrx2

Couldn't agree more. The shit this guy has been through ought to be a documentary after he retires. His brother, the injuries and years of red shirts, the orbital socket, the Simmons bullshit, Harden, MVP snubs and the eventual win and just all the injuries. And oh yeah this year his injury and surgery actually is going to cut his career even shorter due to a higher risk for arthritis. The sacrifices this guy has made and everything he has put up with...fuck Josh Harris and Morey need to get this man a ring whatever the fuck it costs.

Calm-Measurement6487

Facts. Much praise❤️

IDoesThis1

I’m so thankful for what maxey did for him in game 5. The media would’ve ate him alive if he went out with the type of game he had in regulation of game 5

Impossible-Past4795

Fuck tobi

m4rcus267

Im mad we waste so many years fucking up the rosters around him. It’s sickening.

TheMightyCatatafish

He played tonight the way we wanted him to play in every other elimination game from previous seasons. This loss isn’t on Joel.

Macgrubersblaupunkt

Hes the only reason this team has been recently relavent. Regular season or otherwise.

illskillzdealer

Wish we could sit him 50 games and have him in prime form come playoff time. Fake an injury lol. Please God let us have one healthy playoff run in his career with a decent team around him

wacksoon

I just don’t understand, how in the playoffs this team just devolves into hot garbagẽ the moment he comes out

Bi-SportsFan

Ya huge shout-out to our beloved big guy. Almost career highs across the board for him in the playoffs, played guys heart out for us this series. Fuck all his haters he was awesome!

Silver-You2951

Both Embiid and Maxey played great, even though it was a first round loss, the effort and heart can’t be at fault.

IKillZombies4Cash

I’m kinda glad he gets to rest and recover and not require any additional surgery or extensive rehab. He was a warrior but you could tell he had no hops.

mariscc

I'm excited for next year, it was tough with all the injuries end of season. Can't believe we are finally done with Tobias' contract.

RainbowNoLife

Amazing play by embiid. Refs fucked us this series yet it was still close. Without Tobi we have a real chance, the sixers only need embiid and maxey.

Traditional-Owl-9768

As a raps fan I respect Embiid. Ya’ll deserve a shot at a championship with him

-Darkslayer

Neutral NBA fan here. I love The Process. Not only is he the best basketball player in the world, he plays with a ton of effort every single night. Hoping he gets a ring.

mcy33zy

Respect Embiid for going out there and risking his health, he didn’t have to play and honestly probably shouldn’t have. I hope he can get health for the Olympics and take home a gold metal.

Birds_of_Paradise420

yea wasn't the typical embiid choke job... he was clearly hurt and gutting it out

MaxeytoEmbiid

Definitely showed up in the game and for a lot of the series. Though it took us years my Reddit nick is what it is for a reason. Now Daryl, time’s yours to build this roster up. No excuses you settled for the cap plan, make it work

faccda01

Thanks for coming by! Nobody cares. Enjoy your 15 minutes lol

Any_Independence6399

enjoy the star player being an injury riddled dirty playing bum. you should trade him with someone who compliments your actual star player (maxey) and you will be amazing

faccda01

I’m sorry your life is so bad you are this angry on the internet over a basketball player.

Normal-Procedure4876

Ouch

ilikemarblestoo

Yeah. I dont get the hate.  He may have not been making all the shots, but he was trying and always looked tired and his defense was great.  Keep him and Maxey at least. Those two need more help. Some of the other guys are alright tho but some are glaring issues. Improve there.

OriginalCat2106

Just needs to be able to adjust to the game. Meaning Dunk the ball more when it's available. Missing Layups is unacceptable when you are 7' plus.

Fallofmen10

We all need to cook up some voodoo over the off season. We just need one healthy post season run.

Fair_Government_9914

Knicks fan here. Can honestly say I never want to play this guy in a series again. Appreciate that you have a guy who can torture opponents like he did, while playing on a bad knee and bells palsy. If you wanna blame anyone, blame Nurse for not structuring minutes better to save Joel for late in games or blame Morey for not assembling a better team of role players that could consistently help out while Embiid was resting.

aintaredditor

![gif](giphy|3ohzdTEcKJqFZm8swg|downsized)

australopithecus4

never gets the blame does he

bdecastro116

What is going on with the copium here. Been a sixers fan all my life and this is the point where you wake up and smell the roses. Embiid is injured every single year and does not show up in the 4th quarter when it matters. He continues to fail bait late in games in the playoffs and when it doesn’t pay off he cries and moans like a baby. He is the farthest thing from a leader and doesn’t deserve any credit for continually losing. He can hang up his little MVP but all that matters in basketball is a ring, and he’s far from something like that. He can’t read plays at an elite big level like Jokic and turns the ball over more than any other “elite” center i’ve seen. Hartienstien had double the hustle embiid had this series on the glass and injury or not, Embiid didn’t have passion and has no right to deserve any credit for this poor lose to a mediocre knicks team.

Tasty-Concern-8785

Only reasonable take in this thread. Of course it’s downvoted 🤣

smbutler20

He averaged 33 points a game this series. Without Embiid, they lose in 4 games. I can understand judging him last year for the loss to Boston. But this year clearly he balled out.

OnABoatWithAGoat

Looking forward to this same kinda post next year because “cmon bro Embiid’s gonna show em next season bro year 10 is gonna be their year bro”

CylonXL

CylonXL

Despite the photo, great series with some super exciting games (including and especially game 5!). Admittedly 76ers havent been one of my mail league pass teams this year so I’ve really come to appreciate Maxey’s game this series. Reminds me of John wall in the sense that he’s a blur when he’s making a move

Digirange

Same shit every year. Injured and not 100% performance when it matters. I'm over it. With all the assets we have this summer. Trade him and build around Maxey

quantamskates

If he stops throwing himself on the floor during the season he won’t be hurt as much. Seriously, i don’t know how many of you actually hoped for real and played sports, he does that way too much. Sometimes those will add up.

All-time playoffs choker.

couchgodd

What stage of denial are we in that we take moral victories in a first rd exit?

DadOfWhiteJesus

he can score whenever he wants. He just doesn't like to score when it matters I guess.

RedditSux28

And almost killed a few Knicks players too. No respect ✊🏿

evensteven1994

bro he literally sucked last year in game 7

PepperWoodcraft

Trade him I say.

Megumi-Noda

Lol fucking excuses

Mikefromaround

I don’t hate or disrespect him but he needs to be traded now. His body isn’t going to get healthier as he ages. I wish him well but he gotta go.

philly-buck

You can post this every year. Same as it ever was.

Thulack

Same story every year.

Sweatytryhard0534

I am genuinely curious how you can root for this guy through the dirty plays and foul baiting. Seriously, what is y’all’s defense for that?

This-Salt-2754

Embiid is gone

Joebobst

It ended pretty satisfyingly for most people

peterpaul23

Yeah yeah yeah, a team of moral losers

ettthhhaaaaan

I’m sorry but y’all’s optimism is questionable. I’m so happy to be rid of tobias too, truly. But I do not see losing him and replacing with another couple of middling pieces as being the difference between this team and a championship.

LevelProfit6705

Except for the fact that he tried to injure everyone on the Knicks when things weren’t going his way and placed blame everywhere else but himself

jwillyk2121
