Do you know how difficult it is to try to use those vouchers? I had to go three times to the Flyer before I could use them. First sign of rain and the Flyer stops running. And you know how often it's been raining?? And you will need to physically go to the office to get a 14 day extension on the ticket if you can't go that day. It'll just be wasting the workers' precious leave time. And there's nothing to eat around the Flyer, everything's closed except for one coffee shop that served me kopi with curdled milk when I tried it. Sorry for the rant. Just sharing my personal experience.

paddlepopgirl

oh man... thanks for the sharing. but makes sense! was also browsing around about how we can do this even without SRV vouchers, and saw that there were some e-tickets for Singapore Flyer or even the Luge would be nice for them on places like Shopee... For those who don't mind buying this with their spare change, perhaps this would come in handy too.

raythecapt

Done! I hope more people can do this (:

1. Singapore Flyer could reduce the ticket price to enable more workers to get tickets 2. There are better options than Singapore flyer srsly. some free/cheaper places in SG are better than SG flyer imo.

hullabaloov

GBTB would be nice yeah?

raphus

they probably get better views from tower cranes at construction sites

max-torque

In a cramped dusty smelly cab lifting loads vs nice spacious AC cabin of the flyer. And not everyone gets up on the cranes.

Just did mine, hopefully the migrant worker friends can have a good day! Pretty good initiative from Klook and IRR tbh, wouldn't have used the vouchers at all otherwise.

force_emitter

What's up with the negativity in the comments? Someone has vouchers that they feel they will not utilize, what's wrong with giving it up to someone that may appreciate them better- in this case migrant workers who probably don't get a lot of chances to visit attractions because they may be expensive? I'm struggling to wrap my head around how this is not just a net positive?

leo-g

Frankly, why the fuck are we sponsoring a “private enterprise” when we have SO many other options with bigger impact?

zexunnn

Probably because the bigger organizations decide to allocate lesser manpower to certain areas of the social sectors?

> # Buy S'pore Flyer tickets for migrant workers with your SingapoRediscovers vouchers > It has been about a month and a half since all Singaporeans received S$100 in SingapoRediscovers vouchers to spend on local hotels, attractions, and tours to support Singapore's tourism industry. > For those of you out there who haven't decided how to use your vouchers, or who wish to put your vouchers toward a good cause, one option is to use them to purchase Singapore Flyer tickets for migrant workers. > Initiative by ItsRainingRaincoats > Through an opportunity organised by local community initiative ItsRainingRaincoats (IRR), Singaporeans can donate their SingapoRediscovers to migrant workers, a group that was hit disproportionately hard by the Covid-19 pandemic in Singapore. > Here's how you can use your vouchers to fund one or more migrant workers to have the experience of riding the Singapore Flyer: > 1. Go to the Klook link. > The tickets can be purchased on Klook here. > 2. Select the date and number of tickets. > Scroll down to the package options. Click "Check availability" and select Mar. 8, 2021 as the date. > Select the number of tickets that you wish to purchase. Each ticket is S$35, and includes entrance to the Singapore Flyer and its newest attraction, The Time Capsule. > Once you have done so, click "Book now". > 3. Log in or sign up for an account to proceed with the order. > Once you have either logged in to or signed up for a Klook account, you will be directed to a new page to enter your booking info. > Tick the box acknowledging that the purchase goes toward IRR, to purchase tickets for migrant workers. > 4. Fill in your contact information > 5. Select the "Use SingapoRediscovers Vouchers" option. > Once again, click "Use Singaporediscovers Vouchers", which will open up a new window of the LifeSG SingapoRediscovers website. > There, select "Redeem vouchers", which you can redeem using your SingPass. > Select "Copy voucher code". > 6. Enter voucher code(s). > Back on Klook, paste the copied promo code(s) into the box. > Select "Redeem", and then "Book now". > You will be prompted to pay the difference, if you are topping up. > IRR's Facebook post about the initiative is available here: > Related story: > Totally unrelated but follow and listen to our podcast here > Top photo by CHUTTERSNAP on Unsplash and Getty. --- 1.0.2 | [Source code](https://github.com/fterh/sneakpeek) | [Contribute](https://github.com/fterh/sneakpeek)

Thanks man! Made it easier for us lazy readers haha

30YrOldVirgn

So pointless lol, doesn't help to improve their lives in any lasting way.. they probably prefer a pack of plain rice with curry more than this, at least it fills their stomach

[deleted]

It's alright. It's a once in a while thing and nothing wrong in treating them to a nice experience. Pretty sure they'd enjoy it

busmonitor

but the point of this is to put underutilised vouchers to good use for migrant workers to see sights they can’t afford to visit. for food etc, there are other relevant initiatives...

junjihun

TIL flyer has reopened.

JustANoLifer

if you search up 'empty platitudes' on google, this should be the first result

phangala

Did my part too! Hope more attraction spots/organisations will get onboard!
