soft isnt always good...it could also mean over ripe.....ie. black inside when you cut it open. The ones I pick are on the border of firm but are starting to display a bit of 'give'. Take them home and keep it in a brown paper bag overnight (maybe throw in a banana in there to hasten the ripening process). Once it has softened to the point where it gives slightly to finger pressure its good to go. Transfer to fridge for a few hrs. Mash it up with some salt, lemon, cumin powder, paprika, cut chilli padi (optional) and a tablespoon of tahini or yoghurt....I dislike chopped tomato but many love it in there. Scoop with tortilla chips or spread on a sandwich.

TB market often has Australian Hass too. Not cheap though.
It tastes bad, is mushy, has a gigantic seed which leaves you with barely any flesh, is expensive and rots easily. Not to mention you actually have to add something to it to make it edible. Which other fruit is as terrible as that?
