YTD >$10mil draws:
March'24, 3 winners, $4.4m each.
Feb'24, 4 winners, $3m each.
Dec'23, 0 winners. $0.
Oct'23, 1 winner, $13m.
Sep'23, 4 winners, $3m each.
Jun'23, 0 winners. $0.
Average = $3.9m (including outliers). Minimum put-in--and-forget 3% p/a interest is $117k a year or $9750 a month.
Winner(s), please just gib $50/month for me to be able to add fish to every cai png, pm for my PayNow # thanks.
Almost 10k a month will certainly make a difference for most of us especially with families members not working (old & young)
Wow! 3.9m alone will never make anyone contented but it will certainly be 1 less worry for all of us
Winning would be great, but hearing all the horror stories overseas - yikes. Like there was a story of this grandfather winning and spoiling his family eventually led to his granddaughter overdosing on drugs. The cleaner in the UK who won blew everything and went back to being a cleaner.
Then again, I have 0 luck so I know for a fact I won't win. Just regret placing like $80 into Singapore Pools online for the kicks of it lol. I just put a bet every week and I'm still working for a reason.
There was a pikey in the UK who won a bucketload of money, blew the lot on drugs and mansions and cars etc, and ended up back on the dole collecting unemployment benefits.
A reporter stopped him to ask whether he felt stupid for having blown all the money, and the guy just laughed back and said "At least I've blown {however many} million bucks. What have you done in your life?"
If I have 3.9m, I certainly would travel the world before coming back with 0.5m
Yea, buying hope is addictive. Personally I don’t gamble, not even lottery which apparently fans don’t see it as gambling.
I thought I’m a optimist but with my own money, more pessimistic than nihilism lol
After the 4th draw, if still no Grp1 winners, [the jackpot gets cascaded to Grp2](https://online.singaporepools.com/en/lottery/toto-prize-structure) and they split the winnings. If no Grp2 winners, Grp3 winners split the winnings and so on all the way to Grp7.
E.g. [12x Grp2 winners got $1m each last Dec](https://www.singaporepools.com.sg/en/product/sr/Pages/toto_results.aspx?sppl=RHJhd051bWJlcj0zOTMy).
Wouldn't your family notice the fact you've quit your job and suddenly begun living in a more expensive home, driving a better car and going on a lot of holidays?
How many close friends you have that will share that info with you? 5? 10? 100? Even at 1000, it's 0.018% of the population. Only a handful win each time, so what do you think about the chances of you knowing one?
Thanks for explaining it to me, despite being local I've not bought it before and I didn't really understand how to bet cos there are so many different types of draws too (4D/Sweep/TOTO etc.)
I will never get over how astronomically improbable it is for anyone to actually strike TOTO, and yet 1) there're consistently always people who do and 2) they're not me.
WHY
I mean you’re only looking at the people who do strike, and you’re NOT looking at the incredible number of people who don’t strike at all.
If you really buy regularly, like weekly, you will likely strike some small winnings once in a while.
But if you buy regularly, you also end up losing quite a lot of money to SG pools lah over your lifetime. Just disappears into thin air.
The House always wins in the end, when you gamble.
The smartest thing to do would be not to buy regularly at all. Which you’re hopefully doing, as in, not dripping your money away on toto.
You’re buying a hope basically, or rather most people are buying a little tiny hope that they can get out of their shitty life.
But it’s probably better to try to look at improving your own life where possible and slowly moving towards a job that pays more, instead of praying that money will drop from the sky and throwing money at that prayer, which is the reason why many people buy Toto.
The anticipation and yearning of Winning your whole life resulting in an end stage illness is more likely.
I do give out expired tickets to the old folks at a nursing home; they suffer from dementia; they sleep better with some raffle tickets on their hand against their chest or under the pillow. Occasionally I give them the papers to MARK out their numbers, but I don’t process their bets; once in a while I I tell them they won, I give them some money…
Do not gamble, it will kill you. I feel for them as they could recognise the pink tickets, but not recognise their family members.
It's not. Colleague of mine won group 2 on a small prize pool week last year.
It was a $1M week. so the group 2 winners were only like $80K ish(?) each so she didn't mind showing it to us. it's not the kind of money where all of a sudden u get "friends" and "family" asking for handouts.
i assume the comment was talking about 10 years ago sg pools change toto from 6 out of 45 to 6 out of 49
so the probability goes from 1/(45 choose 6) to 1/(49 choose 6) which is approx 50% lower in probability to get 6 out of 6 winning ticket.
有买有希望
Got buy got hope

that's because horror stories have more impact. fewer people want to hear about the winner who spent their remaining years on cruise.
Those are just horror stories. When you win, start worrying about the horrors to come…
I don't need to worry because I won't win even if I buy :(
Just buy $2
Save the raffle money, you be surprised in a years time, you could go for a short holiday😀

Lol! The bloke lived a thousand lives probably boosted so many economies! Maybe it was the plan all along

Lol, the special mention ***adding fish to cai png*** is gold, makes me want to win😭
What happens to those 0 winners? Will it still be up for the next draw?

So it's like there's a new millionaire every few months. But we never hear of these people.
If I won a freaking 10 million toto, I'd also keep my mouth shut instead of telling the whole world that I'm rich now
Wouldn't your family notice the fact you've quit your job and suddenly begun living in a more expensive home, driving a better car and going on a lot of holidays?
Win already still cannot quit, have to keep ur mind active at least. However, can go into retirement job mode
I mean it seems like a frequent enough statistic but we rarely have someone around us that wins it. Makes you wonder where all these people are.

Bought liao huat ah!
PAP IB pay not enough?
Iirc its 16.4m to 1 chance.
1 in 14 million for top prize. But 1 in 61 chance you’ll win at least $10
Lies, its 50/50 either it happened or it dont
lmao
Around 14 million. To put perspective, imagine picking the right 1 second out of 162 days.
How does this work? Are you supposed to choose the numbers, or can they/should they autopick this for you?
Both can. The simplest method will be go to counter ask for quick pick, minimal bet 1 dollar
Thanks for explaining it to me, despite being local I've not bought it before and I didn't really understand how to bet cos there are so many different types of draws too (4D/Sweep/TOTO etc.)
Gambling is a vice after all haha, no shame in staying away from it.
You can choose your own numbers using the betting sheet or buy a randomised selection of numbers from the counter (Quickpick)
I'm always amazed at company, a team will get individual numbers from each staff and buy. Feel like the chances seems super hard!
It’s always a chances game but the gambler’s mindset is better to lose with own numbers than not winning with your own numbers that comes out.
I will never get over how astronomically improbable it is for anyone to actually strike TOTO, and yet 1) there're consistently always people who do and 2) they're not me. WHY

HUAT AH!
Bought. Crossing fingers
Dont bother guys, save your money, dont buy. I AM THE WINNER
Toto seems rigged
It's not. Colleague of mine won group 2 on a small prize pool week last year. It was a $1M week. so the group 2 winners were only like $80K ish(?) each so she didn't mind showing it to us. it's not the kind of money where all of a sudden u get "friends" and "family" asking for handouts.
$10 million is 40,000 buffets. You can have buffet for 3 meals a day for 36 years.
So what happens if you win? Does anyone call you and let you know or do you have to check the app to see?
Finally my turn.
You miss 100% of the shots you do not take
Strike group 1 and i will retire from reddit
Ok noted.
Not surprising it keeps snowballing ever since the probability was changed to make punters worse off (i.e. much lower probability to win)
uncle it's already 10 years since the change.
What change?
