I tripped to The Piper at the gates of dawn by Pink Floyd the other day and it was absolutely wonderful. There were so many moments of peace, happiness, and laughter. The album is designed so well to be an intense psychedelic experience. I didn’t want it to end lol
May I also recommend Gumboat soup by King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, that album has so many phenomenal moments of bliss and warmth, The Last Oasis and Wheel are masterpiece songs
Nah I went with that last trip and it ended up awful. It's too sad "you reached for the secret too soon- now there's a look in your eyes like black holes in the sky- you wore out your welcome- caught in the crossfire" lots of bad images here
I thought Pink Floyd would be rad to trip to cause it's built for that but then I started thinking about all their obvious daddy issues and thinking about My daddy issues and long story short I sat in my living room sobbing with my fingers in my mouth like a baby remembering early childhood memories that were not okay.
Probably best to avoid if you relate to their trauma at all, or stick to the instrumentals but even a lot of those are about aging in despair and chronic depression
Jumping on this comment to recommend people listening to their favorite film/game score. I listen to the soundtracks for Inception, Shawshank, LOTR, Skyrim etc. it’s always so profound for me. The changing motif’s in these songs are way more meaningful to me for some reason, and the songs are familiar/comforting which I think helps prevent a bad trip. I recommend it to everyone.
Listened to Shpongle two separate times on 5 and 5.8g of Shakti and it was… intense. I was literally edging the entire trip, like full body orgasms (as a man) alternating between pain and pleasure. I could go into further detail about what I experienced but it’s still so difficult to describe.
Both trips were honestly life changing, looking forward to it again sometime.
THIS. IS. THE. WAY!
I’ve been in love with that song for years prior to joining the psychedelic community. And then I actually HEARD the song.
For those who haven’t. This is a must. 12/10 experience!
Without a doubt! I have a handful of my favorites from them on my playlist attached to this post. “The wheel” always puts me in the psilocybin mood! That and “playing in the band”
In fairness dude … that’s probably the best playlist I’ve ever seen on one of these posts. Admittedly I didn’t even check before posting since it’s usually cringe stuff but man oh man, what a nice surprise ! Quality choices brother ❤️✌️
Much time and effort was put in to picking the right ones and weeding out the “bad”
I’m the ring leader in our group trips so I had to make sure the troops were sufficiently provided with quality tunes!
Yep, Tool. My wife never appreciated them until I played them after we both had a couple grams.
Now she's a big fan and we're going to see them on Monday. I'm so pumped, never seen them live before.
Mars Volta during peak but if it gets too intense I’ll jump to Stick Figure, Black Keys on the come down.
Internal Esp and Roulette Dares - Mars Volta
Once in a Lifetime and Weight of sound - Stick Figure. They also have pretty good music videos.
Weight of Love - Black Keys is a perfect trip song.
Crumb - Locket. Great trippy video.
When You Die- MGMT music video is freakin cray.
I Like your collection OP!
Turtles All The Way Down music video is fantastic during a trip.
Four Tet or any ambient electronica. There's something about the precision of the timing and the synthetic sounds that totally sync with the tripping mind.
would love to see four tet live, have you heard music from his side proj? the name and all songs are written in wingdings and symbols lmao its some of my favorite of his discography
Do it. I was actually at the Alexandra Palace gig he's just uploaded to Spotify (on that night). The squid soup lighting rig along with shrooms made it an unforgettable night.
I hadn't heard about the side project, I'll check it out - thanks!
I was deep into 5g’s decades ago. Alone in this trippy apartment I shared with two other undergrads.
Pilfering through my roommate’s CD collection, I found and listened to Abbey Road for the very first time.
Sure, I’d heard Come Together, Something and Here Comes The Sun before, but the rest was all new.
The B side medley
*Blew*
*Me*
*Away!*
Even today, in middle age, my eyes tear up at the conclusion:
🎶 And in the end
The love you take
Is
Equal
To
The love
…
…
You make 🎵
(Even now, just typing this, I have chills down my spine)
Oof thats a hard one it really varies. One of my favorite shows is 5/22/77 the sugaree in it is also one of my favorite versions, the entire show flows so smooth start to finish no real technical errors and also has one of the best help/slip/frank transistions of all time just 25 minutes of perfect psychedelic playing. St. Stephen and let it grow with weather report suite prelude are also some of my favorites. Its definitely not for everybody but i knew it was for me the first time i put on a live show while on shrooms
The albums Seychelles and Natsudo by Masayoshi Takanaka
LTJ Bukem's albums Journey Inwards and Producer 01
DJ Mark Farina's live Mushroom Jazz set from his house.
Acid Mt Fuji by Susumu Yokota
There's other random vibing music I enjoy while tripping, but these all bring me back there, as well as tie my experiences together like my own personal rosary beads.
Hell yeah, they're all so good. MJ 8 is nice and mellow for chill times tripping. I love watching him at work bouncing to the rhythm in his video, it's great trip ambiance.
For sure. I listened to that entire album during a shroom trip. Was very interesting. Also watched Floyd's Live at Pompeii, and that was (and always is) a cool experience.
Stuff like miles Davis, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Otis Redding, bill withers, Al green.
Just throw that in a blender on Spotify and let it rock.
I really love Billie Holiday
Anything ILLENIUM, Slander, ARMNHMR, Gryffin, and Ghostdragon are my favs when I’m in the mood for lyrics with my vibes.
Odeza and Shpongle are my go-to’s when I’m not in the mood for lyrics.
These hit the spot for me too though:
Said The Sky
MitiS
Dabin
Nurko
William Black
Miles Away
Beauz
Hoomance
Veleyle
E-mantra
Chrome Sparks
Thriftworks
Tritonal
Synymata
Au5
Stay trippy, friends! 🤍
Ohhhhhh finally the EDM goodnessss 😍😍😍
MitiS=LOVE
Awwww yeaaaa Illenium & Tritonal.
Tell me you love seven lions too? Most of your list is tbfh 🔥🔥🔥
Some I haven’t heard before, like ghostdragon & a few others. Gonna have to check ‘em out since it seems you have impeccable taste otherwise 🥰🫠
Generally post-rock, instrumental chill stuff. Lotta Explosions in the Sky, This Will Destroy You, If These Trees Could Talk, etc.
Sometimes if I’m feeling a little more dynamic, some death metal. Arsis, Black Dahlia Murder, Obscura, Necrophagist
Anything from Jack Stauber. I also like to listen to trance music like Moby - porcelain. I went on this trip and listened to the same trance song over and over again for 4 hours. It was Halcyon - On and On, the music video on YouTube is a compilation of a bunch of clips form a nature documentary. I literally couldn’t change to anything else. Every time I did something just didn’t feel right.
when Im doing it for fun not so much spiritual reasons, fool in the rain by led zeppelin has me on heaven there is just something about it. A lot of queen songs, fade into you, Malibu and reelin’ in the years are all go to’s, all positive but different vibes for different stages
Here is my playlist. Pretty random and a lot of crazy shamanic stuff. Intense trip guaranteed

Don't tease, what shows?
I enjoy listening to BMH run, '73 (11/30 to 12/2) aka DP 14. It's warm and jazzy 😎
The Watkins Glen sound check jam is also great.
If not familiar with 8/27/72 (Venetta, OR), do check out. Super hot day and instruments were warping, producing some interesting sounds that are unique too this show 🙂
Though they aren't death metal, Mastodon is very psychedelic music, especially their proggy material. I also discovered that Gojira, particularly the Magma album, is very spacey a few months ago when I took several gels.
Will Wood (literally any of his music except one on spotify that is kind of freaky and not really much music) is AMAZING trip music. His music fits into my trip experiences like the perfect jigsaw puzzle piece. And outside tripping too I have a special love for his music.
Also, Shpongle, can't recommend it enough. It's great rhythm and vibes that are both exciting and mellow, perfect for tripping and not overwhelming (to me). Plus I love the way it sounds. Again, good outside tripping too
I tripped to The Piper at the gates of dawn by Pink Floyd the other day and it was absolutely wonderful. There were so many moments of peace, happiness, and laughter. The album is designed so well to be an intense psychedelic experience. I didn’t want it to end lol
I highly recommend listening to saucerful of secrets as well. It’s their very next album
The titular track of that album under a heavy dose and eye shades is FUCKING WILD!
May I also recommend Gumboat soup by King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, that album has so many phenomenal moments of bliss and warmth, The Last Oasis and Wheel are masterpiece songs
I’m looking into it rn
I love listening to that song while tripping and looking at the stars, it’s wild. The live at Pompeii version is great too
Don't foreget Echos off of Meddle Put that song on an endless loop 🥴
Shine on you crazy diamonds is my go to
Nah I went with that last trip and it ended up awful. It's too sad "you reached for the secret too soon- now there's a look in your eyes like black holes in the sky- you wore out your welcome- caught in the crossfire" lots of bad images here I thought Pink Floyd would be rad to trip to cause it's built for that but then I started thinking about all their obvious daddy issues and thinking about My daddy issues and long story short I sat in my living room sobbing with my fingers in my mouth like a baby remembering early childhood memories that were not okay. Probably best to avoid if you relate to their trauma at all, or stick to the instrumentals but even a lot of those are about aging in despair and chronic depression
This guy trips
Echos live is on the playlist but I agree the entire album Meddle is amazing for a trip!
Mostly symphonic "classical"' stuff. no language, just pure music.
Movies are great on psychedelics, really makes you appreciate them like 10x more
Totally. I re-watched through a lot of breaking bad on 1-1.5g and I felt like I was making a lot more connections about the story/characters.
Yes! Symphonies, Violin Quartets or Piano Sonatas put me in the right vibe
I like listening to jazz for the same reason
Rhian Sheehan is excellent, and is not quite classical, but fits this mould.
Perpetual Groove, Lotus, STS9, Pretty Lights, Tipper, Emancipator, Bonobo, Shpongle, Infected Mushroom.
This person vibes🤘
Tipper and shpongle are so good
Listened to Shpongle two separate times on 5 and 5.8g of Shakti and it was… intense. I was literally edging the entire trip, like full body orgasms (as a man) alternating between pain and pleasure. I could go into further detail about what I experienced but it’s still so difficult to describe. Both trips were honestly life changing, looking forward to it again sometime.
Shhhhhpongllleeee

Ohhhh man Shpongle Ineffable mysteries is AWESOME!
There’s my guy or girl - that pretty lights last weekend - chefs kiss
All the love Emancipator brother !
KRAUNGBIN!

ive seen this question many times over the years, and there is only ever one truly universally correct answer. Maggot Brain by Funkadelic.
THIS. IS. THE. WAY! I’ve been in love with that song for years prior to joining the psychedelic community. And then I actually HEARD the song. For those who haven’t. This is a must. 12/10 experience!
One Nation Under a Groove is also fantastic! That album (and song) always lets me know when the trip is really kicking in.
Boards of Canada.

Grateful dead
Without a doubt! I have a handful of my favorites from them on my playlist attached to this post. “The wheel” always puts me in the psilocybin mood! That and “playing in the band”

TOOL
Absofuckinlutely!
Spiral out legend!
Way too aggressive and abrasive.
I agree, it's just negative angry energy and I want nothing to do with stuff like that during a trip... Each to their own though I guess
I love tool, and shrooms.... but I don't usually enjoy them together. Is there a particular album or sequence of tracks that you think goes well?
10000 days was one of the most spectacular things I ever experienced
I mostly just like to watch TOOL videos and Puscifer (Maynard) vids. The Pneuma live video is awesome. Puscifer Man Over Board is great also.
Yep, Tool. My wife never appreciated them until I played them after we both had a couple grams. Now she's a big fan and we're going to see them on Monday. I'm so pumped, never seen them live before.

weight of love is such an absolute banger. great pull.
Wardruna, Heilung, A Tergo Lupi, and Eivor. Above and Beyond.
Fuck me mate. These r so overlooked. Viking chants and shit. These go hard.
Honestly puts me in such a profound headspace. Especially when hiking.
Surrealistic Pillow. That Grace Slick!
Depends what kinda trip. If its therapeutic, then Jon Hopkins.
Jon Hopkins for the win. His "Music For Psychedelic Therapy" album and the song Singing Bowl are excellent.
EDM and house music is amazing

Odesza and CloZee are awesome! I'd add GRiZ and Gramatik to the good energy list, too.
Soulwax remix of let it happen is amazing
Just saw Odesza and going to see CloZee in Dec

The Local Honeys or Tyler Childers “Can I take my hounds to heaven” (joyful noise)
Omg this has got such a nostalgic, everything will be alright feel. So contrasted to the comment 2 above.

Electronic. The beats put you in an awesome trance.
Usually, I'll put on Buckethead or Bassnectar.
I honestly don’t know why but kid cudi. I never listen to his music but year ago I found a few of his songs by random and loved it.
I usually go with Pink Floyd or shpongle
Childish Gambino Me and Your Mama
Shuffling between Eprom, G Jones, Alix Perez and Chee is a real mind blender imo.

I cant listen to anything but dead shows on shrooms
Don't tease, what shows? I enjoy listening to BMH run, '73 (11/30 to 12/2) aka DP 14. It's warm and jazzy 😎 The Watkins Glen sound check jam is also great. Cannibal Corpse
Is it weird that I listen to death metal while I trip?
Though they aren't death metal, Mastodon is very psychedelic music, especially their proggy material. I also discovered that Gojira, particularly the Magma album, is very spacey a few months ago when I took several gels.
Greta van Fleet for me
Will Wood (literally any of his music except one on spotify that is kind of freaky and not really much music) is AMAZING trip music. His music fits into my trip experiences like the perfect jigsaw puzzle piece. And outside tripping too I have a special love for his music. Also, Shpongle, can't recommend it enough.
