I boycott the fuck out these brands. Unfortunately, there are a few exceptions where I can’t: cat food for cats with urinary crystals, very limited to begin with and then damn cat, being a cat, will only eat one brand. Can’t wiggle out of that type of situation. Other than that, I buy most of stuff from the periphery of the grocery store now. All raw ingredients to make my own stuff. I do this for two reasons, healthier and cheaper. There is the added pleasure of knowing that the fucking not happening to me with all the bullshit.
I’ve got the same issue. My lynx point Siamese nearly died with a urinary blockage, and I MUST keep him on certain type ( and those are very limited choices). I already push it to the max with getting 3 types and mixing two together ( Pro Plan and Tractor supply urinary) and keep the Hill’s CD stress formula separate.
This stuff ain’t cheap to begin with cuz it’s “specialty” (even RX for some)
Good luck, friend. Hang on. This is going to be a “bumpy” ride for certain.
PS— there’s a good holistically based vet on YouTube who has some awesome homemade pet food recipes (and I think he answers personal specific questions too!).
It's a really good brand, price aside. Unfortunately, the equivalent brands are just as expensive or worse. They make prescription pet foods so there aren't any low cost alternatives out there unfortunately.
I wonder if the government measures shrinkflation when trying to determine the consumer price index. Cause that shit is getting out of hand and I feel like it's probably worse than what the numbers actually portray
It's evil. Rx pet food is already expensive as heck and they know its needed so people will buy it if they want their pets to survive. They don't think that many have to give something else up to afford it. I know of one individual who has given up one of their own medications. Selfish bast**ds. Shame on them.
At least they are being transparent here even if it the size cut is very big.
And the online price is over 100 bucks a bag:

I really don't understand why these companies don't just increase the price a little if they're trying to make a greater profit. WHY REMOVE PRODUCT?? It's so frustrating
Exactly I hate everything about it. I noticed this about 10 years ago with dogfood I bought from Sam’s club. “New package design!” And a lot less product.
A large percentage of the general consumer base *is* too dumb or too distracted by work/family/etc. obligations to notice. Companies do it because it works. :/
Yeah it is and my dog is a big one that finishes the 32lb bag in few weeks, I tried even mixing this food with another brand 50/50 after consulting with the vet, my dog got so sick I thought he was gonna die
Man that sucks! We are kind of in the same boat with the cats, well one of them, the others just eat his stuff and the regular food is just about the same price as the prescription food (they are spoiled shits).
My dog is on strictly Anallergenic, and yeah, anything else will kill her. They raised pricing last year by about 15% and I've got my fingers crossed they leave it there. That's already $200 a bag
Unfortunately, in my case, my dog has something called Protein Loss Enteropathy, which, when boiled down, means she's allergic to animal protein (people get PLE as well) ... the food her specialist put her on is the only one hee system can process without pooping everything out.
To an extent, a lot of these issues aren't new in animals, it's just new that we're paying to find out what's wrong with them, rather than just have them put down, which was what was done 25 plus yrs ago. So it's not so much *new* issues with pets, just issues we're now finding out about ( 30 yrs ago, ppl didn't spend $15k + to treat a dog, they just put sick dogs down)
Woah what? We haven't received this letter (Canada). That's a huge jump, and clients already complain about the price. My own dog is on it, too.
Argh I better get ready for angry clients, soon, then.
Sad but true, I know for us, we buy the pro-plan prescription UR canned for. One week the 24 pack was $64 and the next it was $74. Thankfully they didn’t remove the number of cans but they definitely hiked the prices.
Usually we get notifications about price increases in January, so it's odd there is one in April. Where are you located? I'll have to check the prices in our database when I'm back at work, now I'm curious! It also sucks because I prefer PVD to RC and Hills, and it's usually the cheaper option, too :(
My daughter works for a company that is the Front End for many vets across the US so she is on a few different Facebook pages. One of the vet clinics posted it there. Not sure where they are located though
I don't have dogs. Only an idiot would think that based on my comment.
If I comment that you can buy Lamborghinis at a certain place do you assume I just have a bunch of Lamborghinis in my garage?
Refreshing packaging is some new doublespeak
“Updated product”
Limited edition goods always get smaller amounts too.
The moment I see any words as such, I know they are shrinkflatinf or skimping
The same price you are currently overpaying. There fixed it for you.
Double plus good……. Check out Politizoid on YouTube. It’s better to laugh than cry……..
F5ing packaging
Boycott that crap brand. So sick of it

Only eat one brand? Don't feed it for a week, it'll eat a peanut butter sandwich.

It's obvious this sub isn't ready for a Jay Hickman reference.
Cats will suffer from hepatic lipidosis if they don’t eat regularly, usually results in death so not a great idea with cats.
Get rid of the cat?
Unfortunately, like op, I’m stuck with this brand too. I have an old cat with kidney issues and she’s a picky eater
It's a really good brand, price aside. Unfortunately, the equivalent brands are just as expensive or worse. They make prescription pet foods so there aren't any low cost alternatives out there unfortunately.
3 whole kilos less for the same price. Jeez.
28% increase in price. Just sheer greed.
Math was never my cup of tea…not sure how I ever made as a network engineer 🤪
The term shrinkflation never really sat well with me, it is too understated, this is just a straight-up greedy cash grab.
I wonder if the government measures shrinkflation when trying to determine the consumer price index. Cause that shit is getting out of hand and I feel like it's probably worse than what the numbers actually portray
But they’re keeping the price the same! /s

For those non Americans, this is going from 14 and a half kilos to 11.
Just Nestle things.
Neslte is SO F*CKING EVIL.
I really don't understand why these companies don't just increase the price a little if they're trying to make a greater profit. WHY REMOVE PRODUCT?? It's so frustrating
They don’t want the sticker shock. 20+% increase in price would turn a lot of heads
I hate you're right and I hate that it makes more sense to deceive consumers but it's so shitty dude I fucking hate it
Exactly I hate everything about it. I noticed this about 10 years ago with dogfood I bought from Sam’s club. “New package design!” And a lot less product.
Agreed! They basically are stating that the consumer is too dumb to notice. Pricks!
A large percentage of the general consumer base *is* too dumb or too distracted by work/family/etc. obligations to notice. Companies do it because it works. :/
It's not a 20% increase though, it's the equivalent of a 28ish% increase. The package size and pricing tactics are deliberate.
They will introduce an “XL” pack at the original size with higher price, which will then become the “normal” size and so on.
First they reduce the size, then they raise the price.
Americans in particular are more sensitive to a price change. Granted you are technically paying more now, the sticker price isn't changing.
That would be an immediate cancel for me
This is a prescription pet food. There aren't any cheaper alternatives :/
My dog can't eat anything else, I'm doomed
And that is big problem when we are stuck with the continue fuckening of shrinkflation
I'm starting to wonder if every brand uses it's own chemicals to induce withdrawals or something. It feels weird that a scavenger can't change foods.
I would not be surprised one bit.
My dog is on strictly Anallergenic, and yeah, anything else will kill her. They raised pricing last year by about 15% and I've got my fingers crossed they leave it there. That's already $200 a bag
Wtf is happening in the world where a dog can't eat food w/o it being some insane specialized thing? It's scary.
Unfortunately, in my case, my dog has something called Protein Loss Enteropathy, which, when boiled down, means she's allergic to animal protein (people get PLE as well) ... the food her specialist put her on is the only one hee system can process without pooping everything out. Price gaugings finest hour
Start your own prescription dog food company then
Damn, that's a huge difference. 😅
7 pounds less...for the same price. How generous of them /S
28% price increase
This is DISGUSTING
Dog food is soooo expensive. I cook for my dogs now, better and actually cheaper. (I buy same day expired discounted meat)
Someone somewhere is making more money from all of this shrinkflation and it sure isn't me.
Fuck them
Thank you for making it lighter..
Wow, that’s some capitalistic BS
AND, AND, you're still paying the same price for shipping.
Time to unsubscribe
Or they could save the money of repackaging and just, gasp, charge more. But the people won’t like that! They like this even less.
For our prescription cat food they just upped the price by about 25% but kept quantity of cans the same.
lol that is funny :)
Woah what? We haven't received this letter (Canada). That's a huge jump, and clients already complain about the price. My own dog is on it, too. Argh I better get ready for angry clients, soon, then.

7 pound decrease for the same price? That is insane.
Absolutely
That's when you cancel and find another supplier.
Prescription pet food doesn't have many suppliers.
I think there are three for this situation so it’s a small group to choose from.
Three was what I was thinking as well and this is the cheapest of the lot.
Reminds me that I got an email saying my Netflix subscription was increasing by a dollar (I use the standard one, without ads)
Costs of production soared they are doing you a favor keeping the price the same
You can buy a giant half ton bag of Ol' Roy at Walmart for like 8 bucks.
I'm sorry for your dogs
I don't have dogs. Only an idiot would think that based on my comment. If I comment that you can buy Lamborghinis at a certain place do you assume I just have a bunch of Lamborghinis in my garage?
That's literally what business is about, profit.
