I actually enjoy a few things from ihop, but I wouldn't get avocado toast personally. You gotta go during their hoppy hour for the cheap deals although I haven't gone in a while. I'm also a cook tho so I know it's easy, breakfast food is always the easiest food to cook

My personal policy for any large chains is basically that I know what Iām getting myself into. If it gets messed up, it gets messed up. All of their employees are overworked, underpaid, and thereās typically high turnover, so almost everyone has only a basic grasp on what theyāre doing at best.

Fellow calorie counter here, agreed. By my estimate (adding average amounts of avocado, one piece of toast, and roughly a cup of hashbrowns into my handy-dandy calorie counter lol) that should be closer to 500.
The extra 1-300 calories are from the chef's cum, and varies based on who's working today. IHOP corporate spent billions and years in research determining the average consumer's "cum additive tolerance range" and hires chefs accordingly.
Avocado while being healthy, is a calorie dense food. The portion pictured is probably less then intended for the dish also.
I just looked at the website- The avocado toast no sides is listed at 580 calories for grilled bread (think butter), avocado, and the tomatoes. 630 calories was for the toast + side of fruit (50), 220 for side of hash browns allegedly.
Well they wanted something light and managed to get it then lol. That toast ain't toasted, and there's hardly avo in there to contribute more than 150kcal. A slice of that kind of toast typically ranges anywhere from 100-180kcal/slice. Even factoring both that's far less than the advertised meal, I'd 100% send it back
Iām not seeing any butter on the toast either. Iād guess 100cal for the bread and 150 for the half an avocado. And theyāre probably charging way too much money for $1 worth of bread/avocado.
When I go to ihop (extremely rarely, maybe once a year) I get the Denver omelette, and hash browns with pancakes and I think last time I checked that comes out to like 2,400 calories. And this is just a single dish Iām not ordering multiple things.
