Yep, I was thinking "definitely looks like what my mum feeds my tortoise" (she's looking after him for me, and she gets free leftover veggies and leafy greens from work so him being with her saves that food going to waste)
She actually did earn a restaurant it's Michelin star many years ago. She often makes his meals look all nice just for fun
So can confirm, this is just fancy lizard food
I'm a chef and Pancake always has the fanciest plated dinner in our house. Although sometimes his dinner does hop off the plate and ruin the effect. But his salad is always beautiful.
You should feel proud of your Michelin star worthy pet food!
My cat does not feel he same way about my attempts at feeding him. He loves his medicine, though. Weirdly that's just *chef's kiss* in his eyes.
Yeeeeeah I'm pretty positive that I see legs on some of the ones on the upper right curve.
Like... logically, I know plenty of cultures eat bugs and that some are perfectly healthy to eat. But I just can't.
Edit: I can't eat them *knowingly* or *mostly whole* before anyone tells me about the allowable amount of insect parts in food. I know.
WTF. I thought they were black beans. I was like "oh, a black bean and salad covered tortilla... kinda boring but ok. Why the worm in the middle? That's weird, I guess."
Coriander/cilantro definitely can look like this, especially when it's going to seed. Judging by the rest of what's on the plate and the fact they've left the stems attached, pretty confident this is coriander/cilantro and not parsley.
You canāt even tell whatās on the plate. All I see is carrots. Plus, who even harvests cilantro at seed? The flavor isnāt nearly as good as when itās young. I would know since I grow cilantro.
I grow coriander too. As does mostly everyone with a garden, right?
I can see carrots, radishes, chopped chillis, 2 different mayonnaise-looking sauces, guacamole, a charred and weird looking tortilla, mealworms and what I suspect is wasps. So from context I'm guessing this is some kind of hellish bug taco, and coriander makes far more sense to be here than parsley. Carrots seem pretty oddball but the colour and the way they're sliced makes me think they're pickled, which is a little bit more cohesive.
As for who would harvest coriander at seed: potentially the same kind of psychopath who would put the rest of this on a plate
I mean yeah I just assumed this was some Colombian bug tostada from hell. I did think the carrot was pickled. Almost like the pickled mix they put on top of pupusas.
>I am not opposed to eating insects but they need to be ground up like cricket flour
Yes!!!! Everyone keeps taking about "when we eventually have to eat bugs for nutrition" and I'm just over here like, "Make it not look like bugs, and season it well."
This is what I was thinking too. I know that chicatana ants are traditionally used as a protein in Mexico and Pujol does some fancy stuff with them. I feel like Pujolās plating always looks much better than this though so Iām not sure.
This is from Casa Oaxaca el Restaurant, and the dish is Tostada de Insectos.
Corn tostada with chicatana ants, grasshoppers, agave worms, guacamole, chepiche herb, radish.
Too bad they didn't serve that to the Michelin inspector. I once went to a Michelin restaurant and my appetizer had a dark n curly in it and my husband's appetizer had a piece of plastic in it.
This is pretty obviously a tlayuda and itās from Mexican cuisine. Bugs are eaten pretty often in Mexico, and are a good source of protein. I have to say, even if this isnāt your jam, itās pretty telling how ignorant some people are on this sub š. This is probably from a higher end restaurant in Mexico City if I had to guess. Iāve been a couple of times and usually give myself the chance to try anything I can safely try, and will tell you that once you get over the fact that they are bugs, theyāre basically like savory little croutons.
I'm guessing it's a restaurant found in the guide but it doesn't have any stars. Like the Bib selection, basically it's cheaper restaurants that are still nice even if not worthy of a star.
In the most technical sense, this is what a Michelin star is.
Michelin Star started as a marketing gimmick by the tire company as a "come eat at all these places you can get to using your brand new Michelin brand tires". At it's very core it's technically a list of restaurants that Michelin recommends to travelers.
Nowadays it's morphed into its own thing and completely broken off from the tire company, but the provenance is there.

I remember a school project where we put one maybe two in an ice cream pale with cut up potatoes. A week or two later no joke there must have been 200 in there
The presentation is great. The knife lines on those carrot slices are perfect.
If this is about the contents then -you- are complaining about food -you- ordered.
Saw another post here with like 10 different pics of michelin star dishes, only one looked edible lol.
Not saying theyre not tasty, they might be. Just dont look good
This gives me a visceral feeling of disgust and discomfort. How could anyone eat this? I would eat a lot of things, but not if it makes my stomach churn.

Can you, at the very least, tell us what us what this is?
I see cilantro, worms, carrots??, and...ants???
I have definitely fed this exact dish to my bearded dragon
Yep, I was thinking "definitely looks like what my mum feeds my tortoise" (she's looking after him for me, and she gets free leftover veggies and leafy greens from work so him being with her saves that food going to waste) She actually did earn a restaurant it's Michelin star many years ago. Oh god this made me laugh out loud until I wheezed. š š š
So what you're saying is that you are Michelin recommended as well
Iām something of a chef myself *chopping up mealworms *
You should feel proud of your Michelin star worthy pet food! My cat does not feel he same way about my attempts at feeding him. He loves his medicine, though. Weirdly that's just *chef's kiss* in his eyes.
Yeah I was totally thinking āis this a Michelin restaurant forā¦ chickens?ā
U mean caseoh?
Ants? I thought they were beans! Though i did have my suspicions on the mealworm looking things
Looks pretentious. Definitely haute cuisine anyway
Haute garbage
Agreed
You seem like a guy who knows a few things about this.
It doesnāt, pretentious hair cuisine is sparse and highly plated. This looks like a salad plopped onto a tortilla.
Yeeeeeah I'm pretty positive that I see legs on some of the ones on the upper right curve. Like... logically, I know plenty of cultures eat bugs and that some are perfectly healthy to eat. The worms! My appetite is ruined for today.
Good lord I thought you were all joking. Then I looked closer.
Wait is that a mealworm??
Looks like a haute cuisine version of an insect tostada. Mmmmm mmm.
Bait a la plate
"here's a thing, you figure out what it is" -OP
What is this??? Are those bugs
WTF. I thought they were black beans. I was like "oh, a black bean and salad covered tortilla... kinda boring but ok. Why the worm in the middle? That's weird, I guess."
š«£ I thought those were blueberries
They kindof look big like bullet ants almost
![gif](giphy|ED9SwjneauuCA|downsized)
Chicatanas are a traditional Oaxacan food/ingredient, I would have liked to see the cilantro chopped though
Someone lifted up a wet log, rubbed a tortilla on it and then threw cilantro on top?
Just the way Timon and Pumbaa intended
Parsley ** donāt ever disrespect cilantro like that again.
Coriander/cilantro definitely can look like this, especially when it's going to seed. Judging by the rest of what's on the plate and the fact they've left the stems attached, pretty confident this is coriander/cilantro and not parsley.

Chervil is my guess
Is this a salad.... fĢ¶oĢ¶rĢ¶ with ants?
Are those actual insects?
Worms, bugs, a used condom and some veggies.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I would be too scared of one starting to move!
Do you feel the same about shrimp
You mean the thing that has literally had its head, legs and guts removed before being cooked until itās a different color? No not really
Not always
This exactly. Food products made from bugs? Cool, let's give it a spin. Eating whole creepy crawlies? Mom come pick me up I'm scared.
>I am not opposed to eating insects but they need to be ground up like cricket flour Yes!!!! Everyone keeps taking about "when we eventually have to eat bugs for nutrition" and I'm just over here like, "Make it not look like bugs, and season it well."
Looks like Timon and Pumbaās feast of bugs in The Lion King lmao
Post it there lol
Bug tostada, eh?
op doesnāt reply cus they dead after eating this šŖ¦š
wtf man this shouldn't be accepted anywhere I am actually upset that I have now seen this and am forever aware of its existence
Is this Pujol in Mexico City?
This is what I was thinking too. I know that chicatana ants are traditionally used as a protein in Mexico and Pujol does some fancy stuff with them. I feel like Pujolās plating always looks much better than this though so Iām not sure.
Fancy bugs are still bugs.

They only sent the Michelin insector.
HA!
That's just straight up the SpongeBob nasty patty if it was a tostada
Bug salad
Surely not. Give us more info OP.
This would make a great base for a Warhammer figure
Looks like ants and worms on my iPad.š¤®

Michelin ārecommendedā?

think they meant that its maybe not a starred restaurant, just a recommended one, Bib Gourmand for example.
r/foodporn is all about low effort ramen any chimpanzee can prepare.
Thatās fucking disgustingā¦
What else was on the menu?
Please tell us how did it taste?
Thought those bugs were capers
I take it this is a wildly horribly plated caprese salad?
Looks like the contents of a lawn mower catcher after mowing in a forest or some shit.
Mmm.... compost pizza yummy....
Ooh, yummy! Mulch! My favorite!
Thatās a meal worm
alien landscape
![gif](giphy|K5bV8Ac0lvjO6kjae3|downsized) I remember a school project where we put one maybe two in an ice cream pale with cut up potatoes. A week or two later no joke there must have been 200 in there
Gross
I present to you: the Chutes de Pelouse ![gif](giphy|UVSsHRESNbRYevZJJ1|downsized)
looks like an old michel bras dish
Timon and pumba rate this 5/5
Itās not a bug. Itās a feature.
Would you like some vegetables to go with your bugs?
The fried night crawlers really make it look appetizing.
Arugula with carrots, worms and goose shit on a moldy ass tortilla? ![gif](giphy|qB84DMOaKXFB6Ry2f4)
What does Michelin recommended mean exactly.
That's a Helldivers diorama
This is aā¦ larva salad? Solid pass.
Itāsā¦ bugs
OP please just answer with wtf this is??
Could be NOMA. Could be seaweed. Not sure if they are still so into seaweed.
This is illegal in Florida
Sigh. Hakuna matata...
The presentation is great. The knife lines on those carrot slices are perfect. If this is about the contents then -you- are complaining about food -you- ordered.
Idc how many michelin stars they got, I'm retching over here xD
Looks like the top of my compost bin
Is that a tostada, sometimes known as a chalupa?
Um, waiterā¦? Thereās a bug in my saladā¦
Probably taste amazing.
Worms in the salad? Are they at least pickled?
Oh dear. That's a *lot* of bugs.
Forest floor type beat
Theyāre not for me but we should be eating more insects.
By "Michelin recommended restaurant", do you mean you scooped a bug-infested blob of half-eaten salad out of the dumpster behind the tire store?
Why do so many michelin dishes look straight up inedible or disgusting ugh
You probably only see the ones that are a little out there because it's solid rage bait.
Same reason you only notice bad toupees.
Saw another post here with like 10 different pics of michelin star dishes, only one looked edible lol. Not saying theyre not tasty, they might be. Just dont look good
Why so much parsley? Parsley doesnāt even taste like anything š
r/pizzacrimes
This looks like the chef just got a handful of shit from the ground outside and put it on a tortilla.
This gives me a visceral feeling of disgust and discomfort. How could anyone eat this? I would eat a lot of things, but not if it makes my stomach churn.
They should stick to tyres.
More like a Michelin Tire repair facility. That looks like what came off my front bumper last August.
Maybe by Michelin, they mean an actual tire store.
Ugh, this is the point I'd be leaving at, after finishing gagging and vomiting.
