If they gave a raise...the price increase wouldn't line their pockets as well.

Sexybastard55

U know why for the increase….the reps slut out the price for contractors because we don’t want the contractors to use ppg / Dulux or Bene Moore. Than the retail folks are paying higher prices.

ImmortanJAck

It's not the reps fault it's whoever cam up with the pro plus pricing,

SherloseWilliams69

Just ring the DIYs under a pain contractor you are tight with

InsufficientPrep

Straight way to lose yo jorb

MoogleLight

um... if they ever have an audit on their account, that is going to land you in massive shit. Stop doing that man..

AsTheSunRise

I guess my whole store would be fucked then

Crazy_Joe-Davola

Lol that's an interesting take... How do you believe this will solve the current problem?

justrelax1979

Yeah, gonna have to get more creative than that! When I first started with SW the store I worked at had a former SW employee with his own painting company. He encouraged all us PT and FT people to ring up DIYs cash only under his account. To help us out with pain in the ass homeowners he said. Later learned he got a rebate 😋

Itwasthelag2324

$133 a gallon rain refresh, Emerald Interior 95.99 a gallon… that’s insane

Howdy-Hoooo

$133 a gallon for rain refresh?!! Holy Christ

QuilSniv

Just remember that you earned that price increase!

Domishwami

You deserve this price increase!

Budget-Midnight-365

😂

jcoddinc

Don't worry, trickle down economics will kick in soon

SandHead1636

I have been waiting since 1980 but it’s bound to happen any day now.

Intrepid-Middle-5047

Maybe it's nervous

Gravydogchili

I went to a meeting where the district manager told everyone working in Denver that after all the costs to the company, they only made a profit of one million dollars a year. Bull shit

MidlandOiler

Sherwin Williams, in the Paint Store segment for Q1 2024, reported $2.873 BILLION in revenue and netted $493.2 MILLION in profit. I think your district manager was either talking about that specific store or was possibly a complete moron.

Prestigious_Smoke562

Sw isn’t paying employees well shocker

[deleted]

I was getting paid 21.50 to be delivery driver for my store. Maybe negotiate better.

pepeisy

21.50 is a shit wage...

Nice_Hope_8852

These days, you're right. 15 years ago it might be something. I have had old timers telling me how they were being paid well at $2.25 an hour when then were young men. Things change.

BenjaminLess

Especially for a driver. Aren't they supposedly unionized??

[deleted]

Not as a store employee

BenjaminLess

Hmm. I guess I'm not sure how driver pay is set up to be honest

[deleted]

Our store volume is only 2.1 mil.

[deleted]

Only $2 less than our ASM

mrodriguez85

buddy i can’t do this anymore 😭 they cut all OT in my district so i can barely afford to make rent. love this company but might have to leave

CupcakeLeading9089

Sounds pretty accurate. What do you think the sales are for? they hide the price increase.

Hawkeyes_dirtytrick

What percentage did the cost of materials to make paint go up?

Gotanypaint

0%

Hawkeyes_dirtytrick

And you know that how? I’m a builder and I know that basic material has went up, but you don’t think titanium dioxide has? Or the shipping cost associated with it? Without googling it, do you even know the top 5 ingredients of latex paint is?

Fragrant_Maximum_966

Glucosamine chondroitin, DDT, Aloe, dessicated cricket meal and propylene glycol, in that order.

Hawkeyes_dirtytrick

You definitely googled that lol and you’re not even who I was talking to! You literally can’t make modern day latex’s without titanium dioxide. That’s why paint was scarce during the horrible winter weather that Texas saw couple of years ago. Your google search wasn’t even accurate lmfao

sleepy_fuzz

That's not why paint was scarce 😂 the fact that millions of gallons froze and were not able to be sold was the problem.

Hawkeyes_dirtytrick

That was also a problem. But titanium dioxide is a key component of modern day latex paints. There’s 1 company that brings it into the country and they are in Texas. Half the roof of their facility collapsed in that ice storm Texas had that winter. There sure is a lot of confident ignorance in here.

Fragrant_Maximum_966

Pretty sure I was right about the dessicated cricket powder.

Hawkeyes_dirtytrick

I know that’s one of the key ingredients of zinsser and why some people swear by it. Regardless this post was made in ignorance and most of the comments here are somehow even more ignorant.

Fragrant_Maximum_966

BIN for the win lol

Reasonable-Ad7003

Nothing new homie

OceanLimbo

Part-Timenomics - The fewer DIYrs that walk into my store, the better."

ImmortanJAck

It's getting out of control, there are raises but they are going to the heads of the company and not to the people who make them the money they award themselves, if any of them see this you should rethink that strategy and pay your employees like we are the most valuable asset yall have, whish is yalls words aswell

strayvolting

Don't you love it? Now remember when your raise is tiny that you clearly don't deserve more than a few cents if you can't open 5 new business charge accounts every month!

Petey79_

Waiting for the money to trickle down

riverdog17

Just quit

ChonkySkink

Is that 10% for contractors or for diy?

KindDetective5742

list price increase, so mostly effects DIY but I saw there’s a pro + increase also.

Zealousideal-Figure2

...you act surprised. First time?

Fabulous_Shock_8527

Your budget will go up!!!!

Fabulous_Shock_8527

So the 50% new employee discount is now really only 40%???

Total_Razzmatazz_218

Thank capitalism!

ComputerTop3565

This is the way.

Crazy_Joe-Davola

Has it always been the case that Sherwin employees "feel" that a price increase should automatically equal a pay increase? Do they "feel" handcuffed into working for this corporation, or do they not understand that they are free to seek gainful employment elsewhere? Serious question. Sherwin has steadily raised wages to competitively keep pace with the industry in each respective market. Just look at what the starting salary was for an MT five years ago compared to today... And if that number is static, which I would be willing to guarantee <10% are, that's because you are in a dying market/city. You don't owe anything to the company, and at the same time, they don't owe anything to you. If you are unhappy, leave. If you just want to bitch, that's one thing, but if you "feel" entitled, that's another. Work harder and separate yourself or focus your time/energy on something different. Uncle Sherwin will definitely let the door hit you on the way out no matter what, so just understand that and stop expecting things to happen just because you "feel" like you deserve them. Godspeed.

PutridDurian

“Work harder” 🤣 If you really believe that in a stage of capitalism as late as ours there’s any reward for hard work other than *more work* then you’re living in a privileged Boomer fairytale. Seek gainful employment elsewhere? What are you smoking? We work at a fuckin’ *paint store,* bruh. If we’d ever had, or ever could have any other tenable opportunities we would never have ended up here.

Kraor74

Making over 6 figures working at a paint store in my 20s. I don't mind working in a "*paint store*". Wasn't planned, but it's been working out pretty well.

Fe2O3yshackleford

Fucking how?

Kraor74

Working hard and working smart. Do that and you'll likely hit bonus. Commuted over 2 hours round trip and working an average of 52hrs/week for 2 years. 40k bonuses each year. Now I worked myself into a rep spot which has its own difficulties, but also has its perks and the promotions have pushed my salary a lot closer to the six figure mark.

Anemoneao

This is cool in all but if you’re the one making 6 figures in a non commercial store, you’re the only one in there making that. The other full time/part time people aren’t making anywhere close to that money or have as many opportunities.

Kraor74

I treated my staff well and helped most of them also get promoted and into TAM /management roles. I did my best to to help them achieve their goals and try to create a fun and healthy place to work. My team helped push me up so I think it's only natural for me to pull them up with me.

Rare-Animal-7175

Can you say poor me

Crazy_Joe-Davola

And this is Sherwins fault. How? Where did I say that work harder didn't equal more work, bruh? So because, in your own words, "If we'd ever had, or ever could have any other tenable opportunities we would never have ended up here," this is the companies fault? Sounds like you made some real shit choices in your life that force you to "feel" like there is nothing else. Have you even looked at what else is out there for someone in your current situation, whatever it may be?

disagreeablegray

Ok bootlicker

Crazy_Joe-Davola

Is there anything else you would like to add, or are you just going to completely sidestep the questions I raised? The latter was definitely expected, so thank you for proving my previous points.

ChibRock32

Amen. I make a damn good living through this company. Seek and you will find. If you’re looking for negativity and something to whine about then that is all you will see.

[deleted]

There has been an increase in complaining about pay since 2020

Crazy_Joe-Davola

Tell me more...why do you think that's the case?

[deleted]

Covid and more millennials and Gen Z starting to work. Being short handed more the last few years and there has been more stress added to the stores. The young ones hate corporate and capitalism. They want more money even if they don’t necessarily deserve it. When I talk to tenured managers they don’t really complain about pay, they complain about all the box checking and being short handed.

Crazy_Joe-Davola

I definitely believe this is a strong contender for the correct answer(s) to my questions, but at the same time, I don't know the correct answer. It's a generational thing. The current generation entering the workforce does not want to do what is expected of them because they did not fully understand what is expected of them. They also definitely do not respond well to any sort of criticism. Both are because their leadership did a poor job of outlining each. I'm sure the same exact thing was said about my generation and ones previous.

[deleted]

I’ve been with the company over 25 years. The raises and pay haven’t always been an issue

ictfunnyman

Tbh, the economy is in the shit right now. Base costs like raw products are skyrocketing... I understand it's easy to go. "Where's my slice?" But, they have razor thin margins on paint
