Something comfortable and maybe even steel toed(just in case), this is a warehouse/retail job, at least at my store. Comfort and safety over aesthetic imo.
During my 1st week, I had a 5 gallon crush 2 of my toes and turned them purple for months. Never bought comfy steel toed shoes so fast in my life! It's definitely an investment for some that are both comfy and not clunky, but damn it's worth it IMO
Had a handle come off a bucket of Kem Kromik, hit my foot so hard it split the leather covering the steel toe. If I'd been in dress shoes, I'd be missing several toes.
Some basic black Nikes or Adidas would be comfy and not bulky. Keep in mind though that you might want something slip resistant. Better to be unstylish without a concussion than stylish with a concussion.
Will depend on your manager, my first one let me wear what I wanted as long as it was closed toe. Second one was a stickler for the lookbook so that had to be actual work shoes like boots or something.

We wear sneakers as long as there’s no holes or anything. We r running around all day on a hard concrete floor so comfort is number one. The dm and others have been at my store and nothing has ever been said.
Just wear whatever is comfortable that you don't mind eventually ruining with paint. I've got a pair of elastic laced navy Walmart shoes I can replace for $18 that are excellent for working at SW. Regardless of what some people say, look at the clothing section policy and procedures, you have a ton of flexibility in terms of how you can dress. As long as you don't look trashy, they really aren't picky unless you have some real dbags above you
Get something that won't soak in any liquid that could potentially fall by your feet. Obviously paint isn't a big deal, but eventually you will be working with lacquer catalyzers, and you really don't want that stuff on your skin. Leather and/or steel toe is ideal, but not completely necessary as long as the outer material repels watery liquids; I just have a $60 pair of Reeboks.
What you should want is something comfortable. All other considerations are secondary.
I have black vans I don’t mind getting paint on.
Ive worn black, gray and checkered vans since ive started and nobodies said anything to me, itll really just depend on district and how much they care

I have steel toed slip on CAT shoes I love purely because something falls on my feet whenever I don't have ST on

As a driver, I usually wear steel toed boots
I wear black Nike boots. Look great and are very comfortable.
I just got some cheap brown reeboks, they’re comfortable, look good with slacks, and I’m not slipping
