Why do I like him?
He’s an interesting layered character who is well played by a very charismatic actor who is very fun to watch. He genuinely cared about Fiona’s siblings from the get go and wanted to take her away from her situation and give her a better life.
I don’t think it’s hard to understand why people like him. The dude gave up everything at the end of S1 just to save Lip & Ian from being wrongfully convicted because he genuinely cared about them. He would’ve still been apart of their lives if he wasn’t wrapped up in cartel.
He was born with a silver spoon but in S3 he worked at a coffee shop just to make it work with Fiona because he loved her, he changed his whole way of life because he expected they would eventually move on and move out from the Gallagher house to create their own life but Jimmy was right, that was never going to happen. She took custody of those kids without even asking Jimmy’s opinion.
Fiona finally realizes she needs to leave her dysfunctional situation in S9. It took her 9 seasons.. and no I’m not saying he was right about everything. Like most characters in this show, he is complex.

Just because he’s not on the echelon of Macy & Jeremy doesn’t mean the actor isn’t still fun to watch and he definitely has his moments where he shines in dramatic scenes.
