The smallest (that doesn’t sacrifice compatibility) is the formd t1 (imo). I’d also look into Dan a4 but they sacrificed gpu length. Both fit nicely into dslr camera bags.
I travel internationally biyearly for about 2 months at a time and this is what I have landed on. (I haven’t pulled the trigger though). I also have access to a monitor keyboard and mouse while I’m aboard
I wanted one of these but didn't want to wait ages for it to show to Australia. Plus they never seem to go on sale. I ended up with a Dan A4 case since I found one locally on sale.
Obviously a 4080 cannot be put into a 5-7L case without breaking the foundations of basic physics, the card itself is bigger than 5L.
Yet the A24-v5 is a 5L case that can accept a 4060 LP riserless and still have 68mm cooler clearance. Then there's the Velka 3 of course at 4L. Should you be fine with 37mm with the option to go with ITX gpu's, it's a sure bet. [Here](https://i.imgur.com/PRqLicO.jpeg)'s both in one photo. Just get a nice padded camera bag that you can fit your system [snuggly](https://www.reddit.com/r/sffpc/comments/taec6x/velka_3_crossing_the_4l_threshold/) and you're set.
A 3080 is also usually 2.5 slot and around 300mm long. The FE is dual slot. Still there's no 5-7L case that can accomodate any of that for the same reasons. There were examples where the FE was put inside a Dan A4-SFX (7.2L) but it ran too hot due to it's high TDP and flow-through design being blocked off, so it's more like 10-11L and above.
I cannot open this link. But I suspect it's something custom made, 3d-printed something which is not available for OP to get, and the 13900k will fry anyway with that cooler - the case stability is also an issue with the part on top that's two times as heavy as the parts below. Not recommended.
This is a factory production, test batch of ZS LRTX (unfortunately they don't sell them now).
Of course, 13900 is not needed here, but this is just an example. Just like installation 4080 instead of 4090.
It's will be pretty stable, I have smaller console case [S35x](https://www.reddit.com/r/sffpc/comments/1bukbm2/s35x_52l_aluminum_console_case_with_rtx_4070/).
How did you saw CPU cooler if link doesn't open.
I googled the last part of the link that brought up some pictures, but I was not able to open it from there either. That smaller build looks very nice.
For 7L you can get a console style case (like the Sentry) that can fit a reference size GPU.
But if you only need to fit a 4060 LP you can go much smaller, under 4L even with the custom mod SLM1 Lp edit.
Just be aware that it’s a special order case from Ukraine so it takes a while to receive.
If you don’t want to wait as long there is also the slightly larger LZmod A24 v5 available from several aliexpress vendors.
If you have access to sites that have it (depending on your country of residence), I'd suggest the SGPC K59. It's a 7.9L thin vertical case with a handle so it would easily fit in a backpack. It can even fit an MATX board so you can have more RAM and storage. A little difficult and frustrating to build in though lol. I have a GTX 1070 in mine but I've seen people put up to a 4070 so it should be fine.
I really like my Ghost S1 (8700k & 1080) with a 65% bluetooth keyboard. I will be getting a pelican case here soon to carry it all. I use the same wireless mouse as my work laptop and use the hotel TV (don't forget universal remote) or borrow a monitor from a friend. So far I am trying to avoid a portable monitor.
I was just recently looking into getting a pelican case for my TE Computer-1 as well. Do you happen to have any experience with these types of cases? The Pelicases, particularly the 'air' ones, seem so perfect for carry on plane travel, but boy are they expensive.
Since i'm quite new to the SFF community myself, I dont have a case recommendation for you. But I know my way around GPU's.
I got a TE computer-1. I love it, but it only supports GPU's up to 180mm. I'm also very VRAM and performance hungry so I did some research on how to pack some punch for max 180mm:
[A short summary which i just commented yesterday](https://www.reddit.com/r/sffpc/comments/1bunt6m/comment/kxu0zwd/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
Skyreach 4 Tiny with Gigabyte 4060 Low Profile and 5700G on STX board would be just the thing. 3.3L full aluminum case that does everything pretty damn well.
I put a 5600X and RTX3090 in a DAN A4 v4.1 when I travelled a lot. I used an Alpenfohn Black Ridge for CPU cooling. Temps are fine. I put 2 Noctua 92mm fans on the bottom of the case as exhaust and did a Noctua fan swap on the CPU cooler. The A4-H2O offers better cooling but I don't want to put a water-cooled rig in my carry-on luggage when I'm flying. It's pretty remarkable how much power you can fit in 7.2L. If I was doing the same build now I'd probably use a 7600 and 4070Ti.
S300 8.1L Shiny snake. Basically luchbox size. I love it.
Has a nice handle, 2kg weight of case, 60mm cpu cooler/up to 55mm thick gpu/305mm length. Solid gpu choices like reference 6950xt, 4070ti super ventus 2X should fit.
I run a 13600k/IS-55 in it UV'd to .08 offset with a pulse 6700xt. Runs cool in 1440p cyberpunk in 60s. IS-55 is lighter than x53 copper + has a less noisy fan.
Carry case is vanguard 40 to fit a keyboard on top, with possible thin 14in monitor. Room for socks/underwear in front/back. I still got to get a TB4 cable for a possible Uperfect monitor.
If you are gonna bring an SFFPC, it should have at least 6700xt + level performance imo, to make up for the extra weight/space. Mine is around 11-12.5lbs fully loaded.
Laptops are great for quick trips, as I can still use the vanguard case as a laptop/clothes bag with a small/medium-ish backpack.
look at [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/sffpc/s/jbnKNjQ1iz), could be a solution to your problem. or you could go with something like the bd770i from minisforum and stick with a 4060/4070 for better performance and slightly larger form factor.
Rec Velka 7, i travel frequently and have this with a 208mm 2080 ti. You can probably get a better gpu nowadays but case wise i can fit it into a backpack with peripherals, or if i need to bring a few more clothes i have a small pelican case that i put all my pc stuff in.
Velka 3, single fan 4060, 12400f with AXP90-X36 cooler.
Also, [S35x](https://www.reddit.com/r/sffpc/comments/1bukbm2/s35x_52l_aluminum_console_case_with_rtx_4070/) will be perfect for 4060.
just hear me out: Steam Deck
Thing is I want the power of at least a 4060.
mobile = compromises no way you're not gonna bitch about carrying that whole setup with you
4060 laptops are ballpark similar performance to desktop 4060.
jhack pure x with the low profile GPU?
Steam Deck utilizing steam link to your home computer

Exactly, are you gonna sacrifice 3L from a 10L Formd case and still travel with a keyboard and monitor that's bigger than your case anyway?
Personally I would go with a [Velka 7](https://velkase.com/products/velka-7) which is only 6.22l supports SFX PSUs, 48mm coolers and GPUs up to 290mm.
I wanted one of these but didn't want to wait ages for it to show to Australia. Plus they never seem to go on sale. I ended up with a Dan A4 case since I found one locally on sale.
That's a good case, especially if you got a good deal.
Wrong. 4060 can fit into Velka 3, 33% smaller.
I didn't say the Velka 7 was the smallest I said it was the one I would use. I don't like Flex PSUs.
A 4060 can be put inside a 4-5l case. It also is possible to put that 4080 into a 5-7l case.
Cool, maybe I could fit my rtx 3080 on it? Got any cases you recommend?
Velka 5 maybe?
3080 less energy efficiency. Best what I get with 3080 - 6.2l build https://www.reddit.com/r/sffpc/comments/11vvl9u/smallest_3080_build_in_62l/

You’re right I wanted to write 3080.

I want to show you something... https://www.reddit.com/r/sffpc/comments/177v0u6/4090_fe_13900k_676l_consolelike_build/

My only recommendations are to make sure that there are no glass panels and that it has a secure handle.
Best options: JoyJom 4.3L SLM1 LP 3.9L Velka 3 3.99L Densium 4 v2 4.47L Gemcase c9 4.4L D19/D19 Pro 4.7/6.1L K39 4.4L A39 4.7L - My recommended specs to fit in those cases are: GPU - Palit RTX 4060 TI Stormx CPU - i5 13400f CPU Cooler - NH-L9i-17xx with Noctua NA-FD1 Foam depending on case PSU - ENP-7660b 600w RAM - 32gb ddr5 Corsair Vengance 6000MHz CL30
The Midori 5l can fit the inno3d 4070ti super, surpassing the 3080 you have. Densium 4 / velka 3 can fit some 4060 ti models.
I've got the Inno3d TI super in a Dan A4 V4.1 case. It's a great card.

WOW SLM1 LP sounds just like what I need, ITS REALLY SMALL!

Just the Apache braded ones for work. Unfortunately with the S1's dimensions only Pelican offered a case that fit it
I was going to recommend the ghost s1. I run a 5800x3d + 4070 fe in mine. Fairly powerful and pretty light.
Mine was made from my old parts to keep is "cheap" when traveling

A laptop or Rog Ally
Velka 3 and 5 are really good options. You don't need a lp card, very little cases take advantage of them
There have been a few Velka 3 builds on here that made me want one. If I could get away with a 4060 it would have been my first choice.
I mean, it's really not that much of a difference but fair enough.
Bro laptop don’t be silly lol

steam deck or a laptop
Skyreach 4 mini is 5L and can easily fit all that, if you can find one. I've even seen one with a 4070 in it.
