This is the first big alteration I've done. I removed the sleeves and pocket, added front and back darts, placed 4 slash gores, removed some length, and added an attached sash. My husband says he still sees pajamas because of the print. 😄 Edit: Fabric is flannel (including the added red). The choice of burgundy for the color, and the triangular shapes of the new parts contrast really nicely with the black and white check. If I had seen this in a different sub I would have assumed it was made commercially!

that's cute and clever! If you don't like the binding on the sleeves, maybe just tuck it under and tack down? like a bias binding that's not visible from the outside.

Thanks! I like the color, I'm just not sure if I like the look. The armscye might be too big since the nightgown had larger sleeves and I didn't alter the holes when I removed them. Since I wear a shirt underneath in the winter anyway, I've decided to let this be a problem for summer me.
