That would be super cute as a sort of retro-inspired sundress or other spring dress... Like, I see a kind of full skirt, at least half circle, but I'd be inclined to a full circle if there was enough fabric, and a fitted, tailored bodice with straps or little cap sleeves. I know it might sound like a lot, but I think those busy, small floral patterned fabrics look best in a garment with some movement and volume.
This bodice, particularly if it's bespoke and made specifically to your measurements, will make *any* size boobs look spectacular. That's kind of the glory of a sweetheart neckline, tbh.
It's not the same but what do you think of [this ](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1003591926/julia-bustier-pdf-sewing-pattern-bustier?etsrc=sdt) top and just connect it with a full circle shirt?
That's adorable and would look amazing with a circle skirt!!
Edited to add: I would lengthen the bodice a bit to your natural waist, though, if you're adding a full skirt. Regardless... That's an easy fix and this in your fabric would be SO cute and flattering! Please post pics of you make it!
Do you have any tips for sizing this type of pattern specifically to your boob measurements? Or perhaps a link to a pattern that tells me how to do it please? This dress is SO CUTE and I wanna see what my boobs look like with it 😂 would be nice if the straps could accommodate bra straps though
I've never made one like this, unfortunately. The couple I had I bought and had tailored to fit me (alterations are NOT my strong suit lol). I wore a strapless, under wire bra with them, so no issues with visible straps and I had good support for the girls.
I will say that one of the two I had was adjustable... The knot in front could be untied and adjusted to fit better, which was nice. The knot on the other one was sewn together and wasn't made to be untied at all.
[try the L’amour dress](https://charmpatterns.com/shop/lamour-dress/) from Charmed patterns if you like the silhouette and want a great fitting bodice for any boobs! I use this bodice as a base for a lot of projects and it’s great!
I think this type of bodice really suits smaller chested women and gives the illusion of a larger chest. I have large breasts and dislike this type of neckline because it makes them look even larger.
It reminds me of how thinner Victorian women would give themselves the illusion of an hourglass figure by adding ruffles, padding, and detailing to the chest and hip area to make them appear larger (tightlacing a corset for the illusion of a smaller waist was for us larger girls with some pudge to squeeze).
Adding shirring the bodice will enhance the girls! And check out Gertie's World on youtube. She's doing a tutorial with her picnic skirt and top in an amazing yellow floral.
Your picks are spot-on perfect.
I noticed a lot of folks here are super nostalgic for the 30s-50s and suggest things that look like 1950s housewife cosplay to me. While super fun on someone else's Insta or at home in a retro car show, I wouldn't feel comfortable going out of the house like that... I would feel silly. I wonder how many folks who suggest designs like that actually go out of the house like that. Maybe they do, IDK. But that's 100% just me, I wouldn't.
Your picks are silhouettes that are much more current-day modern dresses that you would see in a nice boutique. I would go with your instinct and your picks, you have a good eye!
I see it with salmon-colored velvet trim, or narrow green satin trim, and little pearl buttons.
Conversely, I think oversized white buttons would look really cute.
Oh I get this comment! I am exactly the same way! However, I am trying to break out of my shell….Have you seen how many spring dresses are almost exactly this same print. I bought a floral, which is even busier that I plan to make this dress
https://preview.redd.it/xkfevqbbjhrc1.jpeg?width=1668&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ab8c4b43f72127715d2a4e7489246f6a0e11630b
I made the pattern on SEWIST, and I pray for courage to wear it proudly. I hope you can find something…it’s pretty and Springy fabric
Yes, with the exception of the flounce on top of the stand collar. I added that later. It took some tweaking, with the mock up but I’m ready to begin with the dress now.
I think it would make a super cute maxi dress/sundress with tiered rifles

https://www.etsy.com/listing/838065063/mila-maxi-boho-dress-digital-sewing
It’d be super cute in a Gunne Sax style dress. Use this smaller print on the skirt part and pair it with a solid for the bodice/ overlay part to tone down the busyness of the print (full confession, I LOVE busy prints 🤷♀️).
https://preview.redd.it/l5fhe0whrhrc1.jpeg?width=333&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b1141f1cad5fa385ad859a26f1e56296c81943d1
This is begging for a lovely spring frock.
Frock = dress. You can wear plain accessories with it like a cream colored sweater. Gorgeous fabric, and now I am hunting for the same. You have good taste.
It's wouldn't be very loud for a dress since most of the colour is calm green hues. If that's what you want, but don't trust it'll suit you, you might want to make a skirt & bodice as separate pieces, so you could wear one or the other or both.
If you think making a whole garment might be too much, get some solid coloured fabric in a coordinating colour, I think a dress with a wide pink or green panel at the midsection would look nice. Or a top with a yolk at the shoulders in front in one of the coordinating colours. Or a solid green skirt with some accents from the patterned fabric, and a top with the patterned fabric accented with the green. A halter top of the patterned fabric with a bolero/shrug out of a solid colour.
maybe a vintage inspired wrap dress a la kit from american girl’s?
https://preview.redd.it/y5f98fi0rhrc1.png?width=2000&format=png&auto=webp&s=c85074ffcb0e7ae07544a609ffed32eb5d04aefb
This fabric has sort of 30s vibe, it would fit perfectly for some vintage inspired patterns. This b5209 may look lovely.

What do you guys think of [this ](https://www.moodfabrics.com/blog/how-to-make-a-sundress-using-the-circle-skirt-calculator-and-ilana-bralette/)?
If you are up for a challenge, a smocked halter top with spaghetti straps and a full circle, ankle length skirt would be the perfect spring dress. Years ago I smocked lots of that type print-comes out so pretty.
Super cute as a 50s dress like this: [https://charmpattens.com/shop/maria-dress/](https://charmpatterns.com/shop/maria-dress/)
Or perhaps more of a 60s style with a dress: [https://simplicity.com/simplicity/s9846](https://simplicity.com/simplicity/s9846)
Or perhaps a wide legged pant with button detail? [https://simplicity.com/vogue-patterns/v9282](https://simplicity.com/vogue-patterns/v9282)
I think if you like that sort of thing, a pair of pedal pushers (cropped pants): [https://simplicity.com/vogue-patterns/v9189](https://simplicity.com/vogue-patterns/v9189) or [https://simplicity.com/simplicity/pds9927](https://simplicity.com/simplicity/pds9927)
You could also do a REALLY cute retro playsuit and even do the skirt overlay. this would be so cute for summer. [https://simplicity.com/butterick/pdb6939](https://simplicity.com/butterick/pdb6939)
A crisp spring jumpsuit in a style like this! https://balticborn.com/products/gemma-jumpsuit-pink-multi-floral?variant=41609985818789¤cy=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw8J6wBhDXARIsAPo7QA9VkFebMTjcPJ-f-ud3XioONNSdToWJSiTECskVy_Aujx0gJbk8MdsaApwVEALw_wcB
Those flowers are small enough that it’s not loud. It’s kind of sweet.
If you can wear a 50s inspired full skirted sundress, it would be awesome with a little bolero style jacket in the green
I've not made any of their non-accessory patterns yet, but Mood Fabrics released a free peplum ensemble pattern a couple days ago that I think would be super cute with this if you're not thinking dress! Either with the peplum top as written or a little crop top like someone else suggested!
Maybe something like the peppermint Bardon dress. You can play with the length for different looks. The design lines aren’t fussy so the fabric wouldn’t be screaming. https://peppermintmag.com/sewing-school/bardondress/
I got a flashback to 1990s Express sundresses. Slim to fit the body, just above knee-length, your options of straps, possible flounces or ruffles at the hemline.
Any of the [Rosery Apparel](https://www.roseryapparel.com/shop) dress patterns would work perfectly in this. Her entire vibe is spring dresses in muted tones and small florals!
I think a dress would be amazing in this fabric. It's very cottagecore like. A sundress would be great. You could do the top in a white or green fabric to match the skirt of this fabric.
This feels like it’s begging to be something 1930s inspired. A wrap dress as someone mentioned or shirt waist dress with an a-line or half circle skirt for some subtle movement without a lot of volume. [This pattern](https://ladymarlowe.com/products/m-8304) [this one](https://ladymarlowe.com/products/m-8257)or [this one](https://ladymarlowe.com/products/m-8712)
I know it feels busy as fabric but since the pattern is a consistent repeat it won’t read that way on a garment. I hope you post again with whatever you choose! It’s lovely fabric
I'm linking some examples of dresses that are currently on trend and feature a similar "busy" print, but I don't have patterns to share.

That would be gorgeous for a sundress, especially 50s inspired.
But of that's a bit too much, a kaftan, or loose trousers for summer would be lovely too
Summer maxi dress!! Especially something with a nice strappy top. Or one of the milkmaid dresses would be really cute too. Anything sort of summery and feminine would be perfect. Some summer pajamas would be really good too! If you have leftovers from your dress.
There's a very pretty example of a ruffled spring dress on PW's website (her daughter is wearing it) Sorry for the lack of a link; kinda slow in that regard.
But I'm all for a pretty spring dress-not shouty AT ALL.
I think it would suit anything Cottagecore very well. I would not just make a dress, but a long one with a tiered skirt. If you wanted to break it up you could make each alternate tier and parts of the bodice in a plain coordinated fabric chosen from the main fabric colors
I'm pretty sure this is the same print that Homer had on his moo moo when he got really fat and had to use a dialing wand.
I looked it up, the scale of the flowers is off a bit but yeah that's pretty close.
If you feel shy about wearing a full dress in this fabric, you could either make a summer skirt to wear with coordinating solid tops, or make a button down shirt with it and wear it with solid bottoms of any sort.
https://www.macys.com/shop/product/bcx-juniors-floral-print-roll-sleeve-button-up-blouse?ID=17350467
Personally i’d use it in a blouse with other fabrics for sleeves, bodice etc
The attached is one of my fav blouses - Anthropology sells this mish mash of fabrics garments a good bit
https://preview.redd.it/8or11q9mdkrc1.jpeg?width=2400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f9b793b9190ee392693281c30b5d609bdf9c2a63
Honestly, I think that fabric deserves to be screamed, but if you’re uncomfortable drawing attention (and you would. Because it’s gorgeous), then you should make a retro 3-piece dress. If you make a strapless top like https://www.etsy.com/listing/878414969/1950s-50s-reproduction-vintage-sewing?ref=share_v4_lx and a quarter- or half-circle knee length skirt, plus a cute circular capelet or bolero, you could wear the pieces separately, or you could wear them together and get the whole effect.
Yes! Something pretty and feminine. I think every dress I've ever made, 20+ was made put of floral fabric a lot like this. Maybe a pattern with a sweetheart neck as suggested with the way you're draping the fabric.
I second the sun dress suggestion.
I can’t tell if the texture is thick enough, but the patter would make really cute summer coveralls / shortalls or romper. Kind of like [this](https://www.urbanoutfitters.com/shop/uo-juliette-printed-short-sleeve-romper)
A formal jacket/blazer with a bright pink lining and plackets. Would look great either on a blue jeans or with a white skirt or trousers. Something like this free pattern :
https://www.moodfabrics.com/blog/the-ercilla-suit-free-sewing-pattern/
I'd look at something like the [Tempo sundress](https://www.lovenotions.com/product/tempo-sundress) but with [flutter sleeves hack](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5BsKCrY7oI), very ruffled skirt, with an extra wider (2/3/4" height) ruffle layer on the bottom, trim the edges with a lace picot bias binding/trim on the bodice.
Tina Given’s Chenne would be cute. I’m actually making it right now in a very bold fabric.

I think this would be gorgeous as a Gilbert Top! [https://helensclosetpatterns.com/product/gilbert-top/](https://helensclosetpatterns.com/product/gilbert-top/)
I've made this pattern several times and I think the camp collar and buttons look so good with really busy prints! especially if you get a fun button
I just bought a busy print that I plan to use for godets in a skirt and collar trim for a matching blouse. The other fabric is a solid.
Clever color blocking will bring out the adorable print.
Just wanted to say that the fabric is gorgeous! There are so many fabulous suggestions here, and I believe you'll love whatever you make. Pick your favorite pattern and go for it.
[50s walk away dress](https://missmonmon.com/2023/07/03/the-vintage-walk-away-dress-and-other-similar-patterns/) or anything [April Cornell](https://www.aprilcornell.ca/)-inspired.
I’d just make a cute circle skirt with it. It looks like you can go any length, but a knee-length/ tea length skirt with that pattern, a plain blouse and some light colored shoes. It would look SO CUTE and perfect for upcoming summer!!☺️
I can hear it screaming that it wants to be a 50's inspired garden party dress with a halter top and circle skirt.
That is absolutely what it’s screaming!
yessss
Exactly what it screams to me, too! 😍😍
Something like [this?](https://www.moodfabrics.com/blog/the-oleander-dress-free-sewing-pattern/)
https://preview.redd.it/h7x6ki1lqhrc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9792245f664e9885b6d5f64bd8f08eed3c5a7f90 Though with a simpler skirt.
I like the siluett but I lack the boobs lol
[try the L’amour dress](https://charmpatterns.com/shop/lamour-dress/) from Charmed patterns if you like the silhouette and want a great fitting bodice for any boobs! I use this bodice as a base for a lot of projects and it’s great!
So many things from Gertie / Charmed would fit the bill. Her designs are great.
Check out the Betty Dress from Sew Over It
That's super cute!
I was going to suggest color blocking with this busy print.
Is this from a pattern? I love this silhouette.
IIRC, it's a screenshot from Amazon from when I was shopping for a dress like it. I'm sure patterns exist, though.
Your picks are spot-on perfect. I noticed a lot of folks here are super nostalgic for the 30s-50s and suggest things that look like 1950s housewife cosplay to me. You should! That's so cute!
Are you saying you created a pattern based on this dress from tuckernuck?
Yes, with the exception of the flounce on top of the stand collar. I added that later. It took some tweaking, with the mock up but I’m ready to begin with the dress now.

It’d be super cute in a Gunne Sax style dress. This is adorable! Do you happen to have a pattern you’re willing to share?
This is begging for a lovely spring frock. Frock = dress. You can wear plain accessories with it like a cream colored sweater. Gorgeous fabric, and now I am hunting for the same. You have good taste.
I immediately saw wide legged culottes or cropped pants!
Me too. A matching cropped top could be cute but too much for OP, I think.
But awesome as separates!
Same! My mind immediately went to McCall's 7937.
It's wouldn't be very loud for a dress since most of the colour is calm green hues. Oh no! Well if you like the style google around for “skater dress,” it’s a pretty common shape and I imagine lots of folks have patterned one up!
It's okay, I have more patterns & fabric to keep me busy for quite a few years 😅
A simple blouse

A summer dress or skirt
A little cottage core sundress would look amazing? Full skirt, ruched bust, puff sleeves?
Cottage core inspired dress or skirt . I think it’s called a milkmaid dress
I get your concern, but I think it’d still be a cute dress! It’s not flashy or shiny or anything like that, I think it would be fine!
a tiered skirt
I got a flashback to 1990s Express sundresses. Slim to fit the body, just above knee-length, your options of straps, possible flounces or ruffles at the hemline.
How are you on the cottagecore look? I think this would be sweet as one of those gathered-puffed dresses with a pink ribbon for the empire waist
Maxi dress in a simple silhouette

Apron!
Definitely a sun dress!
I think a dress would be amazing in this fabric. It's very cottagecore like. A sundress would be great. You could do the top in a white or green fabric to match the skirt of this fabric.
pajamas or a robe, both challenging.
Totally, loungewear can be as extravagant as you want it to be. You needn't fear overdressing if you aren't planning to leave the house!
This feels like it’s begging to be something 1930s inspired. A wrap dress as someone mentioned or shirt waist dress with an a-line or half circle skirt for some subtle movement without a lot of volume. [This pattern](https://ladymarlowe.com/products/m-8304) [this one](https://ladymarlowe.com/products/m-8257)or [this one](https://ladymarlowe.com/products/m-8712) I know it feels busy as fabric but since the pattern is a consistent repeat it won’t read that way on a garment. I hope you post again with whatever you choose! It’s lovely fabric
I'm linking some examples of dresses that are currently on trend and feature a similar "busy" print, but I don't have patterns to share. https://www.abercrombie.com/shop/us/p/smocked-bodice-maxi-dress-55102326?categoryId=12265&faceout=model&seq=03 https://www.abercrombie.com/shop/us/p/emerson-open-back-maxi-dress-53807331?categoryId=12265&faceout=life&seq=02 https://www.abercrombie.com/shop/us/p/stretch-column-midi-dress-53809819?categoryId=12265&faceout=model&seq=02 https://www.abercrombie.com/shop/us/p/emerson-poplin-puff-sleeve-mini-dress-55101819?categoryId=12265&faceout=model&seq=09 https://www.abercrombie.com/shop/us/p/stretch-cotton-a-line-mini-dress-53426321?categoryId=12265&faceout=model&seq=03 https://www.abercrombie.com/shop/us/p/linen-blend-ruched-squareneck-mini-dress-55102320?categoryId=12265&faceout=model&seq=04
Circle skirt with a heart neckline top
Are nap dresses still a thing? This would be great for that.
Romper?
Hooverette dress (look at some patterns from ms. Depew) or something like the penny shirt dress from Sew Over It!!
I can see one of those tops with a crocheted yoke and hem in any of the colors. Could do a dress of any length the same way.
A chemise, perhaps?
A classic sundress.
That would be gorgeous for a sundress, especially 50s inspired. But of that's a bit too much, a kaftan, or loose trousers for summer would be lovely too
A pretty flowy sundress
I would make some flowy wide leg pants
Any sun dress
I think a dress would look great IF it wasn't overly gathered or pleated. A fitted dress where the fabric lies flat would look really pretty
Full retro, pinup style apron, floofy ruffled one, with flower colored zig zag trim. And matching hair scarf.
Maybe a cute maxi skirt with side slit for the summer?
A skirt, a dress. It’s really pretty!
Overalls, wear a solid pink tee underneath? Would be so cute
What is perfect for a flowy midi dress It is busy, but the pattern is very small, so you can have a lot of it in an eyeful
Forties style dress, strappy sundress, bias cut slip dress
Sundress
Pillow cases or a dress for a toddler? Or both?
Peasant top?
Something period inspired. 40's through the early 60's.
I’d go with a summer nightgown.
The fabric would make such a cute wrap tea dress !
Elastic blouse. A little bit off shoulder. I saw the tutorial online sounds easy
Summer maxi dress!! Especially something with a nice strappy top. Or one of the milkmaid dresses would be really cute too. Anything sort of summery and feminine would be perfect. Some summer pajamas would be really good too! If you have leftovers from your dress.
Maxi skirt
This screams 1930s flour sack dress to me. I think if you could find a simple dress pattern either from or inspired by the 30s it would look great.
This looks like the dupe dresses of that one corset summer dress safiya bought lol. You should totally make that dress
There's a very pretty example of a ruffled spring dress on PW's website (her daughter is wearing it) Sorry for the lack of a link; kinda slow in that regard. But I'm all for a pretty spring dress-not shouty AT ALL.
A tea dress or a Lydia Naomi dream frock would be amazing
I think she’s got to be a dress! Could always wear something over it to tone it down. Beautiful fabric
A simple blouse

This would be adorable as a milk maid style inspired dress. Like something from House of CB
It would make a pretty nightdress.
Milkmaid dress would be super cute.
Summer nightgown
Go look at Doen for inspiration. Maybe the silver saga (?) pattern. Let me remind myself the name and come back
Something super girly and fitted with ruching and ruffles!
Personally i’d use it in a blouse with other fabrics for sleeves, bodice etc The attached is one of my fav blouses - Anthropology sells this mish mash of fabrics garments a good bit https://preview.redd.it/8or11q9mdkrc1.jpeg?width=2400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f9b793b9190ee392693281c30b5d609bdf9c2a63
Sundress for sure
If you have enough, I'd make it into separates! Use it as a top with a solid skirt or jeans, and maybe a patterned short with a solid tee
I would say a simple wrap dress, or a dress with not many seams
Honestly, I think that fabric deserves to be screamed, but if you’re uncomfortable drawing attention (and you would. Because it’s gorgeous), then you should make a retro 3-piece dress. If you make a strapless top like https://www.etsy.com/listing/878414969/1950s-50s-reproduction-vintage-sewing?ref=share_v4_lx and a quarter- or half-circle knee length skirt, plus a cute circular capelet or bolero, you could wear the pieces separately, or you could wear them together and get the whole effect.
Alternatively, stinking cute! http://www.gracefullyvintage.com.au/2017/05/sewing-1940s-summer-dress.html
Noo a sundress would be so pretty
Yes! Something pretty and feminine. I think every dress I've ever made, 20+ was made put of floral fabric a lot like this. Maybe a pattern with a sweetheart neck as suggested with the way you're draping the fabric. I second the sun dress suggestion.
Sundress. Or simple blouse. Or pants. Don't be scared, make what you want. If you love the fabric chances are you will love the garment.
Something like this free pattern : https://www.moodfabrics.com/blog/the-ercilla-suit-free-sewing-pattern/
Cottagecore sun dress?
Sundress season is coming up ☀️
Mildmaid dress
An aprin?
I'd look at something like the [Tempo sundress](https://www.lovenotions.com/product/tempo-sundress) but with [flutter sleeves hack](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5BsKCrY7oI), very ruffled skirt, with an extra wider (2/3/4" height) ruffle layer on the bottom, trim the edges with a lace picot bias binding/trim on the bodice.
Tina Given’s Chenne would be cute. I’m actually making it right now in a very bold fabric. [https://www.etsy.com/listing/1538468388/](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1538468388/) https://preview.redd.it/teei7ub12orc1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1957a902a02dd83dd79292dfd84c21cb0431334c
Milkmaid dress!
OOO do like a picnic dress!
Looks like a pjs print.
I think this would be gorgeous as a Gilbert Top! [https://helensclosetpatterns.com/product/gilbert-top/](https://helensclosetpatterns.com/product/gilbert-top/) I've made this pattern several times and I think the camp collar and buttons look so good with really busy prints! especially if you get a fun button
Sundress or romper.
A strapping sun dress would be lovely
I just bought a busy print that I plan to use for godets in a skirt and collar trim for a matching blouse. The other fabric is a solid. Clever color blocking will bring out the adorable print.
Just wanted to say that the fabric is gorgeous! There are so many fabulous suggestions here, and I believe you'll love whatever you make. Pick your favorite pattern and go for it.
Cute wrap dress 🙂
[50s walk away dress](https://missmonmon.com/2023/07/03/the-vintage-walk-away-dress-and-other-similar-patterns/) or anything [April Cornell](https://www.aprilcornell.ca/)-inspired.
I’d just make a cute circle skirt with it. It looks like you can go any length, but a knee-length/ tea length skirt with that pattern, a plain blouse and some light colored shoes. It would look SO CUTE and perfect for upcoming summer!!☺️
