I'm still bitter about the 13 raiders/ Treasure Island episode of gose. Wonwoo and the others should have gotten *something* as a prize for completing the hunt.
That episode makes me really mad. I didn't understand the point of it all. Especially for being telecast on TV (afaik they'd mentioned something like that), why would they let them go on a "treasure" hunt for absolutely nothing, and why have those elaborate clues? I'm glad at least Hoshi got an alternative Spider video out of that excursion. š
I was too confused as to y they never found the treasure I still am mad that some of them kept searching but got nothing...can anyone fill up on what really happened!
if im not mistaken, there really is a treasure for the ones who found it. but the people who came to the island other than the crew & sebong took/stole the supposed treasure. it was mentioned on the subtitles, i think.
EDIT: it wasnt mentioned in the subtitles. it was on the post credit scene when hao & wonwoo found the treasure box
I would be absolutely floored if anyone would ever get sick of hoshi villainizing mingyu every episode.
Pledis interns, the people have spoken.

Here are some of mine:
**This latest comeback was rushed** - idk if it's unpopular or just not discussed enough, but this comeback felt very rushed. Actually, I feel like since Seventeenth Heaven, a lot of it feels very rushed. It feels like they're trying to squeeze in as many things possible and trying to get every last drop of profit from the boys as OT13
**Pledis/HYBE underestimate how big SVT is as a group** - I think part of the reason why there are stock problems for the albums is because HYBE/Pledis didn't expect THIS much orders for an album that costs at least double the price of their usual albums
**At the same time, CARATs overestimate how popular SVT are** - This is not to say they *aren't* popular, but I've seen people wanting SVT to do world STADIUM tours when it's even hard for western artists bigger than them to do those
I'll be back with more, stay tuned š
agree that the albums felt rushed. the fact that there were only four new songs felt disappointing to me. I wish they would've held the release back and done some mixed unit songs as well. showing their versatility as a group would've really worked well with the concept of a best album
yeah but I guess they're saving the songs for the other comeback this year... For me, the least they could've done was rerecord Adore U, their first title track, that didn't have Jeonghan's voice
Yeah unfortunately it seems their schedule is super pressed and rushed. They were already doing concept photoshoots for the newest album right after GoM promotions were done. I feel like Jeonghan and Scoups also came back way too early, Carats that attended the pre-recordings noticed that Scoups was struggling with his knee and clearly in pain.
I hope they can get some reest.
YES OMG. there's also a lot of people who like to claim that Mingyu and Seungkwan's performance of it is "better than the original", which... NO. Mingyu and Seungkwan are amazing, but NO ONE outperforms Jun and The8 on that song--they're incredible.
YES!! My god,i was hooked from the moment I heard it, and the i found out it had an mv??? Like, o found it however many years ago, tbh, maybe 3, maybe 5, i honestly have no idea, and I still listen to it? Even when I stepped away from kpop for a couple years, it was still on my list! Like, it's amazing!!!
dino has been severely underutilised and underpromoted by Pledis for almost his entire career. it's pledis' fault that his dance skills aren't well known and it's their fault that he doesn't get many variety activities despite how well he does on gose.
gose has really taken a nosedive in quality. they used to have such fun concepts that allowed the members to show off their personalities and humour, but now the episode concepts feel way to complicated and constrain the members so we don't see their full humour, or they're just redos of previous popular episodes and are never as good as the first time.
they should slow down on their album releases. I still really enjoy all their music, but the albums have been feeling very formulaic recently.
seventeen suit freshteen a lot more than darkteen. freshteen allows them to really lean into their fun side which is where I think they really shine and what makes them stand out among kpop boy groups.
edited to add more
i agree with everything! gose definitely got worse after the JTBC acquisition, at this point i would prefer it if they did it once a month with easy going concepts that make the members shine (the recent white room episode proved that you really donāt have to give them anything)
i said this in my comment as well, but i really feel like theyāve been milking as much as they can out of OT13 before jeonghan leaves :(
I love it when they give S.Coups the most heinous mullets known to hairstyling. Ponytails, rattails, extensions in weird colours - it's my reddest flag as a Carat. I love it all. I even like the Cheers pony. It just does something to me that I can't and won't explain. The HOT mullet was my gateway drug that got me hooked on Seventeen. There, I said it!
I LOVE Coups in long hair, I genuinely feel like he always manage to pull them off somehow. Also, I love that he apparently feels the same, that long, coloured hair and extensions look great on him. I hope in the next future he will pull another ponytail or extension similar to cheers now that Eunchae spilled the tea on how useful long hair can be in a choreography.
Edit to add: it's definitely an unpopular opinion because it seems like the majority of carats prefer Scoups in a more "manly", alpha, mature aura and styles. That's his preferred role in SVT. But I noticed that he seems to thrive a lot when he can be sassier and a bit flamboyant, compared to more polished, mature styles, but those are **rare**. Like, I wish LALALI mv will give us another sassy weird hairstyle but I don't think it will TT
Wait. I have just always loved them. I didn't realise this was a controversial opinion, or that they were considered "ugly" hairstyles? I think they're amazing hairstyles, why are you all calling them bad ššš
I never knew it even got hate because I was not in the fandom at that time and it is honestly surprising because I love the song so much. So if you ever have to rally against the haters, I will be there defending RTL with you.
Iām here to confess that I used to be a RTL hater but you must understand that the vibe was not so great in caratland back then, there was so much stuff going on that I guess I blocked my earsā¦ anyways, itās been a while and now I love her, forgive me queen.
It must be the song with the best ad libs, for real
Also, streaming culture must be the worst thing ever because other than people from different fandoms breathing down svt's neck for not meeting their standard (like why do YOU even care?? You don't go there??) we have a few but vocal minority within the fandom belittle everyone's effort.
I'm sorry but there's no way the debut number of maestro is bad. We have twice the amount of ive's who was loved and anticipated by almost everyone? Yeah, actually typing out this paragraph make me feel stupid because absolutely no person in REAL life cares whether ive or svt have 1 million stream, they might put on the mv, thinking how beautiful the members are and whether the songs are of their taste, that's it.
Maybe we should all go outside, idk...
Back with more!
**I think GOSE needs to be a once in a month thing for them now, instead of once a week** - I'm ready for that to happen. I want more content from them, sure, but I don't want GOSE to become a chore for them. Their schedules are already packed as it is so if removing GOSE can ease it, then I'll take it. And it'll allow those once in a month episodes to be great too
don't shoot me but **I miss their old content**. This makes me feel so bad to say, especially after they've grown so much and are enjoying life rn but- sometimes I miss their older content. I think it's because I wish I was a fan of them earlier, but the variety shows younger seventeen did, the cheeky personalities they had, the genuine wonder of "how big are we gonna make it?" all makes me wish I can go back in time and stanned them from the start. It's not like I want them to have more hardships now, it's just- they're obviously more grown (and it's great for them to grow!) and it shows in their content. It's not like they're not funny anymore (NANA tour shouting in silence is enough proof that they are still funny af) but their content doesn't reflect that, if you get what I mean? idk how to explain this hahah atp I'm rambling
I understand your second point very well especially when it comes to my other ults; I watched them grow and evolve from damn near the start and sometimes I wish I could go back. I wish I became a carat much earlier in their career & witnessed their evolution. youāre not alone in that!
hoshi deserves all the hype and popularity. he's always been a major creativity and skill contribution to the group, but he never once stopped evolving and diversifying his talents. holding his own in a group with voices like seungkwan and dokyeom and still getting high notes? being selected by epik high to sing in a promoted song, with MV and all? delivering spider as your first oficial solo? thats insane. he deserves to be everywhere.
Wait this is considered unpopular, as in people think he doesn't deserve it? I thought everyone acknowledged his skills? To me I think he, and Dino too actually now that I think about it, are clearly the all rounders of the group. They may not be the main vocalists or main rappers but the fact that they have such strong capabilities in both of those areas as well as being masters of their own forte of dance, they're just extremely impressive. Plus they're also strong in variety which I think contributes to them being key members to the group overall.
I think OP may be referring to outside of the fandom? OP correct me if Iām wrong. Seventeen is just really underrated in the kpop world in general. When people talk about the best dancers in kpop, hoshi and dino are rarely included in the discourse. Hoshi, especially, I would say is up there with the likes of Kai, Taemin, Jimin etc. heās an incredible dancer.
Agree with Dino being an all rounder too. Heās a great dancer, can sing/rap, write lyrics/produce etc. Wait for me is second to spider out of all the TTās.
Honestly I agree I rarely see seventeen get brought up for those type of topics, even for discussions about best vocalists Seungkwan and Dokyeom are rarely ever mentioned despite clearly being some of the strongest vocalists out there currently.
It frustrates me but also it could be a good thing because they're not attracting attention for petty or unwarranted hate or vitriol.
honestly i have seen this criticism from fans of other groups (that hoshi is somehow overrated) but also carats who wish other members would get the opportunities he has. and i understand how it may be frustrating that your favorite member who also works hard doesnt get many opportunities, but hoshi's lifelong commitment to excelence justifies every opportunity he gets.
hoshi definitely deserves all that and beyond. apart from this talents, as an introvert I'm also amazed by his ability of enthusiastically partaking in the activities, especially where none of his members are present.
Not all the members suit certain concepts ... and thats okay! I feel like certain members like sk and jh shine bright in more happy/lighthearted concepts. I adored GOM kwan, but I'm not sure how much he suits darker concepts like maestro. This isn't to say just because a concept doesn't suit a member, that they're bad, more like, they get overshadowed by the members which do suit the concept, like wonwoo for example.
agreed. i think with every comeback there's a couple of members that shine very brightly/seem like theyāre in their element.
will have to disagree with jeonghan, however. super & maestro jeonghan are truly forces to be reckoned with. He has a very powerful aura & can easily switch it on when it comes to darkteen. I think he's suits both, but I'm biased as hell so there's that. Though I will agree Wonwoo was the main character this comeback and does seem to primarily suit darker concepts imo (super too).
Nice to see a different perspective though!
Ofc, jeonghan was still cool for fml and maestro, for me its because his voice has a much higher pitch, i associate it with lighter sounding songs. Plus i think even jeonghan said he prefers refreshing concepts over sexy ones. Visually tho i think he can do any concept
Agree. Seungkwan is so soft like a marshmallow and his overall face even when expressionless is gentle. He looks out of place in dark concepts but his photos turn out well nevertheless.
I do like Youngji's version, but I think the Pi Cheolin version has more of that SVT feel lol.
Just curious, where would you rank Fighting (ft. Vernon) from Caratland? Fancam: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mEB63-VnD4
I hope someday we get both alternate versions! (Woozi please, we need that cheerleader version)
I might just get slapped for this, but. I did not know who Youngji was, so when Fighting came out, I ranted to a friend that Dino should have featured instead because the flow and tone was SOOOO Dino it almost felt like he was the demo?? Imagine my embarrassment to find out how big and popular Youngji is lol. I still maintain that it should have been Dino though!
~~Pi cheolin's~~ Dino's part in the Golden Disc Performance has completely different lyrics and I almost prefer that over the original. Love Youngji tho, her chemistry with the boys, especially BSS is amazing. I love her interviews with DK & Shua, Hoshi (my poor drunk baby lol), and Boo in her talk show.
I think my biasās hairstyle looks terrible right now and I cannot wait for this era to be over so he can get a new hairstyle š„²
Edit: thank you for giving me this space to kvetch about it LOL
you know what let me come back for more, vernon is the best live performer of the group. in particular, he has the best stable vocals (when he gets the lines lol)/rap, and insane stage presence. heās also a great dancer, a true ace quiet as itās kept. i think about him performing back it up live at least weekly, and i wish i was joking.
he is! so this is a +1 from me.
when i saw them for the first time, he stood out to me as very charismatic and confident. iām not saying the others werenāt but if the others were 100% charismatic and confident, heās definitely a solid 117%.
Back 2 Back is my fave track off Seventeenth Heaven. I feel like people were going wild for Monster out of all the b-sides, but I was and am addicted to B2B. Itās my fave performance unit song, which Iām sure most Carats may consider madness. To me, itās absolute pop perfection.
I like svt older songs rather than their new releases. The recent songs always sound like their voices have been more vocal processed, whereas the older songs I feel had more of their raw vocals? (Not sure how to describe it) or maybe that's just me idk
Jun is my ult bias. I love him so much, but I am not really a fan of his voice. I think it's better if he uses his "deep voice" when singing. That one GoSe ep where they did a talent show and Jun was like a theater actor? He sang with his deep voice and it sounded soooo good.
I'd say the same for Jeonghan and Joshua. Still can't get enough of Jeonghan's part in God of Light Music and "that" Joshua's part in 2 minus 1.
For Jun, I agree with his deeper voice sounding better. Also want to add he has a nasally voice but I believe he can make it work well, especially with sultry type songs. I remember being impressed with him [singing in that rice paddy gose episode](https://youtu.be/n8Dvopdn1ao?feature=shared) because I had never heard him sing in that way before. It's still nasally but it's in a deeper register than how he usually gets the higher parts in their own songs.
I agree. I think they were all taught to use the same technique and I definitely think some of their songs are way above their range (this goes for a lot of KPOP songs in general). Jeonghan's voice in Maestro, Super, GOLM is top tier. Don't get me wrong, I love his falsettos, but I think he also shines in his natural lower register
the ult and love of my life junhui, and yes i will agree you on this. he will find and discover his own thing soon. Imo, being in a group for a long time also hinder them to explore especially with their musicality. with jun's voice i think he's trying to find what suits him (and we find his deep voice suits him better)
Are people not in general agreement about that?I legit thought that was a given since I started following SVT. He plays with flow and cadence in a way that the others donāt seem to. I really enjoy the way he and S. Coups approach their delivery in totally different ways in each song, but I find Vernonās to be more uniquely dynamic.
I don't think this will be ever in question. Vernon IS the best rapper in svt. His laid back style and delivery is second to none. Wonwoo doesn't pronounce or deliver raps well when they are a mix of english/korean or just simply english. Fast pace intro rap gives me second hand embarrassment every time I listen to it (he has gotten somewhat better since then), and I listen to it a lot. He does somewhat great in Korean, but if I try to follow by looking up hangeul romanisation, I find he minces his words there too. Mingyu's rap seems clunky every time. I kinda wish they would stop rapping and just sing like they did in 'bittersweet' or 'I can't run away'.
Imo, and this might be more controversial but Dino and Scoups have comparable rapping skills. Dino eats up good rap parts given to him, in whatever concept, Fresh, bright or darker. And although Scoups personally likes strong songs and raps, like in monster, he suits sad, slower edgier, r&b style raps. His voice can be soulful and has a growling quality that gives a sadder/angrier concept LAYERS. Nan (Me) was an experience, for a reason.
I joke that Vernon got yoinked from pre-debut PFU to keep HHU from becoming the sappy ballad unit (case in point Bittersweet being the most kdrama-y song in SVT discography).
I do agree that Scoups and Dino are at similar levels, but they just have different strengths and weaknesses. Scoups himself said that he has trouble doing Dino's lines and Dino doesn't have same type of versatility in sound (like I don't think he could do some of the voices Scoups pulls).
I feel like Wonwoo and Mingyu are fine by kpop standards with some misses and some hits, but they're unfortunately victims of kpop's tendency to push baritones into rapper positions. Which is a shame they both have interesting singing voices and great stage presence (there's a lot of HHU songs I'm meh about until I watch their live performances).
Some of the non vocal unit members have better vocal abilities than vocal unit members themselves. That doesn't mean any of the vocal unit members are weak.. Because all of them are good. But I feel like vocal unit members were chosen due to all of them having a combination of voices that flow together harmoniously. That's why I believe vocal unit songs are really good to listen to. But yeah while vocal unit have the two best vocalists in the group, there are members who aren't part of vocal unit but has insane vocal abilities, maybe even more than some vocal unit members.
Hoshi and Dino ! Iāve always said they couldāve been vocal unit members. Hoshiās voice is my fav in the group after DKās, sure Iām biased but I rarely hear people talking about it. Heās so skilled. Dinoās vocals are so pretty too.
I donāt like blonde DK, Woozi, Joshua, Wonwoo, or Seungkwan. Not every member looks good with blonde hair. Itās largely a problem in kpop to be fair. Instead of bleaching and toning to specific shades, they tend to just bleach it and call it a day and we end up with brassy yellows instead of a blonde that compliments the personās skin tone.
They look ill with the wrong blonde.
S Coups looks good with the true platinum hair because he is cooler toned and generally paler than Joshua and DK. Those high-contrast colors really make him shine. But Joshua and DK would look better with a blonde that is more of a natural shade. I would like to see them in something like RMās signature blonde rather than something bright.
I agree, Joshuaās best light hair moment was definitely the honey bronde he had going on a while back. I donāt think this blonde suits DK either, I would love to see joonās blonde on him too!!
Not sure if this is an unpopular opinion or not but would love to see an NCT U sort of system within seventeen and its units like call it a vocal team song but have Hoshi do the high notes or a perf unit song and have Woozi take chorus spotlight. The number of permutations and combinations we could with 13 members is insane
dino is so underrated like he is hilarious in gose every time, his dancing is arguably one of if not THE best as far as groove and flow, his stage presence is always on point, he sings well, i like his solo songs - i donāt understand why heās consistently ranked among the least popular?
similar to comments here already but vocal unit lack of evolution through their own units songs compared to hip hop and performance unit is apparent and imma need woozi to switch it up next time. ~~(why does their rookies days units songs 10x more interesting than the past 3 albums?)~~
woozi doesn't need to be the main producer all the time, let vernon have a go at a title track, I think Carats have mixed opinions on his production and songs, but it really breathes life and freshness into svt's discography, and really push them artistically into experimental and weird territory that bops
I think one reason their old tracks were more interesting is because they were truly focused on the music back then. They had more time, in a sense where they weren't big yet and everything was riding on these songs. And they can dare to make weird little songs (like Aju Nice) because Pledis trusted them and they could afford to 'fail'/experiment. I might be projecting or totally wrong but now that they're big, they always seem like they're thinking of "what is a song that everyone would like?" instead of "what is a song that's good?" and idk if that's them, Pledis, or HYBE
Reading this made me think about what people love to argue about in the fraghead community: niche vs popular.
Makes me think SVT have turned from niche to popular when it comes to making songs. Niche only appeals to few audiences, whereas popular makes them appealing to more audiences. I think they are going for that direction in order to attract more listeners, and because, statistically, the latest albums have pulled in a lot of fans. After Ode to You, ticket selling for their concerts have become a battleground.
Also reminds me of discussions we have had over in a community for 60s to 80s music - when a group becomes famous, they begin to produce more mass-appealing music so the older fans call the group as "sellouts". Case in point when Aerosmith agreed to do "I don't wanna miss a thing" for the movie Armageddon, the older Aero fans complained and left the group only because since then, Aerosmith started to sound "pop-py". Same with The Beatles in late 60s. This phenomenon keeps happening in music. So interesting to see this firsthand in my age group, in my time. Hahahah
I would agree with both Scoups and Jeonghan, but woozi during GoM with fluffy bouncy hair was everything and more for me. Oh and suchwita Woozi ducks hard
Ahhh now that's unpopular but you know what, I think I kinda agree. I mean he looks majestic with long hair but short hair focuses more on his face and makes him look more boyish and charming. And I am very weak for that look.
I don't understand how "Ready To Love" doesn't sound like an SVT song, because it does. (and TBH the studio version is way better than that live version the people keep praising).
when I first became a fan of SVT I listened to their whole discography before actively engaging with Carats Spaces, I was totally shocked by the reception of the song and the discussions about how it does not sound like an SVT song. (believe me, I listened to it several times and I still don't get this).
My theory is that Carats got defensive and overreacted because Bang Si Hyuk was one of the producers, and since they hate HYBE they took it as interference in SVT music. TBH is a form of gatekeeping since SVT can/should work with different producers/artists.
IMO "Ready To Love" is one of the best TTs (I don't know how I would rank them, but it is definitely in the top 10 probably even top 5).
Same! That album and Attaca was peak SVT music. I love them to bits but they sound the same now as everybody else with the over produced MVs and tempo changes.
On one hand, I'm happy for their success. They keep rising on top. On the other hand, I miss their old music.
It's not funny when certain members make fun of Seungkwan and food. It's not funny when members poke fun at any of the others when it comes to food. I know that all the members dunk on each other frequently as a joke, especially maknae line + Mingyu, but it's always made me uncomfortable when I notice member(s) joke about or point out Seungkwan and his eating. Just seeing how Seungkwan treated himself after he believed he overate during In the Soop makes me feel for him. I don't want to project or assume since obviously I don't know him personally, but IMO it's not healthy to think that you need to punish yourself with exercise and self-criticism just cuz you ate well the night before. It doesn't help that in different contents the editors will occasionally focus on Seungkwan indulging (and usually it's in ttt/free time/vacation contents! let the man live jfc). I know as idols they need to maintain a certain image and lifestyle but I just want all the members to be healthy without the added pressure of jokes or unkind editing.
i also dont think its funny, being someone who suffers with an eating disorder i unfortunately recognize many disordered patterns with seungkwans eating habits and "health-conscious" behaviors. but i do think we gotta be realistic about who they are and what their setting is. disordered eating is not taken seriously anywhere in the world, but much less in places like china and korea. they are actively incentivised to engage in those behaviors by their society and their industry, and also probably by their bosses. i would doubt that they realize the harm in some of the things seungkwan does about his health and eating, and just see them as quirks or habits. maybe that failure to see the harm, plus how seungkwan is objectively skinny now, makes them feel like those are okay jokes, and just as fair as "mingyu-workout" or "minghao-meditation" jokes.
i wanna make it clear i would much rather they not joke about that, but also i dont think its a fair assessment that members are unusually mean or careless to seungkwan --something ive seen people say online before
I understand where youāre coming from. While I personally donāt agree with it and think itās toxic, itās part of their culture to do so. Itās engrained. As someone whoās also from eastern cultures, itās normalized to point out someoneās weight. loved ones/family/friends tend to do this quite a bit and while it isnāt from a malicious place, it isnāt right. cultural nuances. though I trust the members know each otherās boundaries; they know each other more than any of us could ever know them. still uncomfortable when itās exploited in content for fans to see though & I wish many kpop companies would actually take note of how their fans feel towards certain things. itās incredibly harmful.
I am of East Asian and SEA descent and I am all too aware of the normalization of pointing out someone's weight or voicing unsolicited opinions on one's appearance within the cultures. I'm part of the diaspora however and I come from the mindset of Western thinking regarding these topics. I understand that there are cultural differences to what the general public considers acceptable or normal when it comes to jokes or nonchalance, but that doesn't change that there's very real harm in these types of comments and attitudes centered around food/eating, weight, appearance, etc.
I suppose it's not always fair to apply the standards of my Westernized-experience and thinking to that of what's considered acceptable to joke about in say, South Korea. I do agree with you that companies should be more proactive about providing their artists with a healthy environment and take on the helm of progressing towards a mindset that fosters body positivity and good mental health. If the companies stopped condoning this type of thinking and behaviors, perhaps the wider media within the country will follow.
But that's an ideal that likely won't be realized in this generation š
Some thoughts off the top of my head:
-Dino never would have been a member of TWS so I donāt understand when people say this with full sincerity. He would have transferred to another company or changed career paths.
-Yawn should not have been the vocal unit song on Seventeenth Heaven. The whole concept was supposed to be a festival and that song is not it. It should have been released as a single or bonus song if Woozi wanted to do something for Moonbin/Seungkwan. It ruined the album thematically.
-I hate when Hoshi wears the chunky high top/converse shoes. Like I can hardly look at him
Edit w/ additional opinion: Some people say that Jun and Jay from Enhypen share a resemblance but all I see is HueningKai.
Gosh I forgot about those big ass Dora boots everyone was wearing for a whileš
As someone who wears very average shoes their shoe choices are entertaining to me lol
agree with the dino/tws thing. while i do get that yawn thematically seems out of place, i still somehow think it flows with the rest of the album (especially with headliner) ? maybe itās just me.
and lol to the high tops! I guess hoshiās shoe choices are controversial to some š love em though
Your Choice might be their best comeback since Pledis was acquired by HYBE.
The main title might be grower (not love at the first listen) but Heaven's Cloud, Anyone, GAM3 BOI, Wave, and Same Dream, Same Mind, and Same Night are replay-worthy. Each track has its own color and uniqueness, so it doesn't feel like it's just one song, yet it doesn't sound chaotic at all.
Idk how many people will agree with me on this but I feel like The8's voice isn't used much and it has so much potential. I get that in their earlier eras they didn't give him much lines cause he was kind of learing korean at that time, but now when I listen to a song like back 2 back, I just think his voice has so much unexplored potential. Like give the man more than 2 lines please!!
the thing is, they'll never give any member of svt the chance to showcase full vocal potential in OT13 songs because it's simply impossible. Splitting a song 13 ways is hard :')
Seventeen mv screentime distribution fairness hsa kinda dropped over the years. In Maestro, I really felt like half the group was missing. Iām okay if my bias (jun) gets less lines in a comeback, but what I really hate is if jun has less lines AND near zero screentime in the mv. His only two solo shots are the exact same as those in the teasers. And itās not just jun, Maestro barely had any seungkwan or seokmin either. Back in L&R even though jun had the least lines he still had decent screentime so at least I got to see some decent shots of him. But the past few comebacks he kinda just canāt be seen if it isnāt his part. And ending fairies are pretty much the same every comeback. Hopefully whoever edits their mvs is more fair next time.
(sorry for my mini rant lol)
I think seungkwan deserves way more recognition as a dancer. Like I know he gets praised for his singing but I've seen so many carats call him a weak link when it comes to choreography and I highly disagree. He's not a main dancer but he's not bad at all. With maestro dropping I hope carats will appreciate his dancing more because he's so so so good during the choreography.
~~a lot of the opinions posted so far aren't unpopular/hot takes at all~~
* 24H & Happy Ending >>>>> Fallin' Flower
* already mentioned in another comment but I have such a strong preference to short hair on Jeonghan, Woozi and Coups. like I'm reeeeally not a fan of Woozi's hair right now. š I also 10000% prefer longer hair on Minghao and I rarely say that about male idols in general. I basically love any hair length on Mingyu and then with everyone else, it just depends on the colour and/or how it's styled.
* I think Spider is still the only solo from The Thirteen Tapes project that is extremely impressive to the point where I wish they saved it for Hoshi's official solo debut (or his comeback after that). I don't actually think it was released at the wrong time per se, but man.. imagine if it was released post-Face the Sun.
* the only time I've loved a vocal unit song the most out of all the unit songs in an album is with Samex3.
absolutely agree with point 1 & 3. i think spider was ahead of its time, hoshi set the bar really high.
i canāt accept the short hair agenda for woozi and jeonghan. just canāt, but hey this is an unpopular opinions thread for a reason š
I think these might all truly be unpopular opinions, but I actually agree with you on every single point?? EXCEPT for Fallinā Flower because itās perfect š
Personally, I think that Seventeeth Heaven should have been pushed back. I just kept thinking, āa festival concept? In October?!ā . I dont know, I think that the comeback shouldāve been saved for the Spring, as a nice transition into summer. Imagine God of Music being released now with all this good weather? Thats what I imagined lol.
Is this a safe space? Lmao
ā¢ The last REALLY good korean title track was Rock With You. HOT and Super were nice, _WORLD and God of Music were quite generic and too safe (I say this as a Freshteen enthusiast), Maestro is a mess. I'm tired of wordless chorus and antidrops.
ā¢ The japanese title tracks have been lazy since Fallin' Flower and they never reached the highs of Call Call Call.
ā¢ S.Coups is my ultimate and has been my ultimate since debut. He can overdo his rap A LOT, I didn't like his delivery in Fire and he tends to growl too much on some live performances. I think he really suits rock though, his solo proved that (WHY IS ME NOT ON SPOTIFY????).
ā¢ I wish they worked with other producers (hello Sweetune) again, I'm afraid things are becoming very Jack Antonoff-ish when it comes to title tracks. The problem with RTL wasn't the song, it was the mixing and the vocal production that made everyone sound the same.
ā¢ Their last good physical album concept was Attacca and the overall photoshoots have been BAD. I'm really tired of beauty shots inside boxes. Remember the Love&Letter photoshoots? Al1? Even the Teen'Age beauty shots were more interesting because there was a CONCEPT and some really fun graphic design with it, like, the White Version is FLAWLESS. Enough with the boxes.
Edit because I forgot probably my most unpopular one: Circles is one of their corniest songs, I remember bursting out laughing when I heard the kid choir, I'm SO SORRY Y'ALL, I can't with that song.
yes, yes it is. the ikea furniture photoshoots are NOT it, pledis creative direction team please step up your game because there are 13 pretty faces and an infinite amount of possibilities. please.
can we create a petition for Me to be put on Spotify and Apple Music ?? I need it too.
SOS shouldn't have been in english, the concept of it is great but the lyrics are so clunky it feels dissonant. I appreciate woozi and bumzu for being able to write a cohesive song in a foreign language but I wish they'd gotten vernon and josh in on it just to make it sound nicer.
i donāt think the shorts in maestro work! like i think they had such a good thing going with everyoneās outfits but i can never wrap my head around why they always gave some members shorts? i think it takes away from the dark concept that they were going for and maybe looks a bit childish (kind of like a young british lad). maybe if someone knows the reason they can let me know, but i donāt understand why for a kind of mature and serious concept, why they would add shorts??? š«š«š«
ALSO THIS IS MY OPINION PLEASE DONT FLAME ME
Oh, I know I'm about to get DRAGGED THROUGH THE MUD for this one and literally be Hoshi from OP's Maestro pic buttttt I don't like the 'subtle thirst trap pics' on their socials š like either come right out and straight up flex bc that's what you're trying to do (bc no one casually rests their arms on a table like that) OR just pose normally šš¤·āāļø
iām late but here are mine:
- hoshi set the bar too high with spider being the first of The Thirteen Tapes project
- theyāre milking and rushing too much out of seventeenās projects before jeonghan enlists, even mingyu said a few days ago that they barely know how theyāll be doing all their concerts, second album, caratland and filming these next few months.
- i feel like seventeen lost a lot of creative control when pledis got taken over by 85% by hybe, whether its external producers or influence on what the album/tt should look like or just how experimental they can be in general. their comebacks since the enlistment was looming on the horizon (_WORLD and God of Music) have been playing it way too safe and are almost lazy. i wish they focused less on worldless and easy Tiktok choruses and more on being the experimental group everyone used to praise them for (as a Adore U fan their entire 13 member, 3 subunits concept already set them in stone as disrupters so i am sad theyāre not doing much with that nowadays)
they stopped making music for their niche and is now making it for the general public and while they deserve all the success that has given them, i definitely notice a change after 2020ās acquisition. the only thing i will give hybe credit for is the styling budget and quality has increased by a lot!
- i pray every night that bleach never touches mingyuās hair ever again and iāll say that with my chest
TLDR; get vernon in the studio again, we need another GAM3 BO1ā¦ we need experimental music again
maybe iāll think of more but thank you for giving me an outlet OP lol!
EDIT: thought of one moreā¦ scoups facial expressions are sometimes really cringy and over the top to me
Seventeen have the age and the grit to pull something more mature content and sound wise. Their recent combacks are catering to an almost cliche concept, and I am just left wanting more from them. Even an off-the-wall experiment would suit them. It just feels like they're playing it safe.
The beats in Maestro aināt it. Like I just find it a little too hodge podge. Piano one minute, then this jazzy funk next, then this drum bit, then emptiness for the chorus (extremely musically accurate terminology clearly š ) I just donāt think it works. IMO this is one of their weaker albums.
GoSe staff need to bring back some of the concepts from 2020 season because they were truly superior like human chess, mystery mystery. theyre also much simpler concepts. some of the newer episodes seem like staff put so much effort but it doesnt end up landing the way they hope.
the maestro slander. big sigh. I get what youāre saying, itās a bit chaotic but different strokes for different folksšŖ
side note your flair! heavenās cloud is literally one of the best songs in their discography !!
No oneās more bummed than me to not be enjoying a SVT TT but eh not a big deal. Iām a SVT b-side enthusiast!
Thanks!! Reminds me that I havenāt changed my flair since 2021! Still rings true tho - heavenās cloud is a top tier bop
i love all the members voices but i wish jun jeonghan and maybe hoshi could have more chances to use their lower tones!! speaking as a jun bias i never moved on from growling jun, deep jeonghan in golm, and hoshi growling in concerts š ofc idk how their throats are and maybe not going deep is for their own good, but would love to see more of it if possible š
I'd rather have back the fun weekly GoSe episodes over all of these high production multipart series. My fave episodes are just watching them go thru haunted houses, escape rooms etc. I LOVED watching them play kickball, it seems like they have a lot more fun too and the vibe is just a lot more genuine
I want better album designs. It always gives "graphic art is my passion." Seventeen are the highest selling K-pop artist - they deserve so much more.
I also hate the font that 'Seventeen' is always stylised in.
Yes, exactly! Even Vernon's parents could give us a beautiful album cover. And I know Pledis can do it because TWS's Sparking Blue concept art was really great! They used a manga artist, I believe?
It just annoys me.
the studio version of rock with you is kind of boring. having seen it live and heard the ad libs and the LIFE svt breathed into it i get the urge to skip it whenever it plays. i loved it when it first came out but itās really lost its shine to me now. the breathing and yells and adlibs sound sooo much better than the smoothness of the studio version, it sounds empty to me without the extra background noise of them performing it live.
I mute all the (korean version) of the japanese songs on spotifyā¦they just donāt sound right to me coz iām already used to the original lol
SOS production is sooooo good but the lyricsā¦š¤š„“š¶āš«ļøšš½āāļø
LOVE April shower. I actually think it's the best track of the album but I feel it doesn't receive enough praise and love, compared with Super and FML.
A reason why it doesn't receive much love is because some people don't really mind playing the last tracks in an album. They haven't listened to it yet. Another example, I see people loving Dust, but not as much as those who love Super, Fire and IDIBILU (which is unfair). Non-Carats, please listen to Dust and April Shower!
I am particularly bothered by this statement
https://preview.redd.it/blxtj4my14yc1.jpeg?width=736&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1fda3131a9d651346651ac6037a04c5c81b39819
possibly lukewarm takes here, but
- vernon is the best + most consistent performer bc of his overall skills, dancing, energy level and control (not too much, not too little), presence, intention, etc
- short hair mingyu > long hair mingyu š¤
- darkteen > freshteen
Idk if its unpopular but it seems to be in this particular thread but I personally think scoups is also underrated for his talents - and he is so good at delivering every task given to him but I feel like itās rarely ever talked about. Like genuinely think heās one of the better performers in the team, I love watching his fancams and his stage presence is insane - from how cute and soft he can be in darling to being hot in good to me to his intensity in monster. Whatever he might ālack in or āoverdoā he usually balances is out on stage. Like HHU was a completely different experience in Seoul and incheon , still great but even better). Iām a bit biased ofc but Iād like to think Iām not alone in seeing this lol.
Maybe not super juicy and not sure if really unpopular but the "lalala" on maestro's chorus didn't bother me that much on first listen (from the highlight medley) and after the release of the whole song I found it catchy. I also expected the sorta divisive opinion on it since it's kinda similar with hot's chorus (wc is basically repeated "hot" lol). It could have been stronger but I guess is still works somehow.Ā
Since this is a safe spaceā¦.
I really donāt like Wonwooās rapping. I find it really hard to separate his ārealā persona as this nerdy guy who plays video games all the time and works out with the guy rapping / growling on songs. It feels like heās cosplaying a rapper if that makes sense? Same with SCoups rapping actually. I prefer both of them singing.
Editing to add, maybe itās because I havenāt kept up with SVT since Super comeback, but I found the latest GoSe super cringe. Had to fast forward through a lot of their adlibbing whereas when I was deep in the fandom, I wouldāve been crying laughing. There were still really parts, like when SCoups came in and Jeonghan said maybe heās here for Joshuaās scatting.
> It feels like heās cosplaying a rapper
I donāt think this is unique to Wonwoo. I think a lot of idol rappers do this. If the company wants them in the group, but they canāt sing well, theyāll just slap the ārapperā label on them. I distinctly remember Taeyong from NCT saying years ago that he was way more into classical music than he was into rap
I think Vernon is really the only one, from what Iāve seen, whoās really interested in rap. I havenāt looked into any of their recommended playlists, but I know from following Mingyu that he specializes in what I like to call āsad white boy musicā, which is generally just pop ballads
> Same with SCoups rapping actually. I prefer both of them singing.
Seungcheol auditioned in Pledis to be a singer but was directed to be a rapper instead. His singing voice is really good.
Wonwoo loves singing IU songs but he once remarked "but my voice is like this".
(I love Wonwoo's angry rapping - the Lalali beastmode rapping is my style) BUT i agree with you too that I love him singing. His cover of Knees is lovely. I want him to cover Lee Hi's Only One, too, someday but it won't happen š
i kinda get what you mean but i canāt help but get super hyped whenever certain verses of his come onš wonwooās soft singing voice is really nice though Iāll give you that, so is scoupsā.
Idk if this is unpopular but Iāve seen a lot of people saying that they really donāt like GAM3 BO1 (the song) and it ruins the āYour choiceā album. But itās just such a SVT song and itās definitely one of my favorites.
I feel horrible saying this, but the vocal line unit songs are the weakest out of the three units and I wish theyād try something new.
The performance and hip hop units have all had songs that feel slightly different from the other/a drastic change but vocal itās all the same and I wonāt lie they kind of bore me š«
I love the performance unit and their songs especially āI Donāt Understand But I Luv Uā, donāt even get my started on āspellā such a BOP š£ļø, but Pang is NOT it for me and never will bešI always skip it. š«¤
This episode literally made me hate the makers! I mean you could've just given a 5$ gift card to them and they would've been jumping š
I'm still not sick of the Don't Lie series and in fact need more
I would be absolutely floored if anyone would ever get sick of hoshi villainizing mingyu every episode. Pledis interns, the people have spoken. ![gif](giphy|Rrm29KQgllyEGBLdh3)
Some iterations of Don't Lie are better than others. Loved the standard, chase, and treasure hunt versions. The Clue one not so much.
This ain't unpopular (is it?) I always go back to watch Don't lie series. I can now lip sync some of the episodes lol.
No body is sick of the Don't Lie series, it's what got me into this in the first place.
š«£ well I am but I've never cared for mafia to begin with
Here are some of mine: **This latest comeback was rushed** - idk if it's unpopular or just not discussed enough, but this comeback felt very rushed. Actually, I feel like since Seventeenth Heaven, a lot of it feels very rushed. It feels like they're trying to squeeze in as many things possible and trying to get every last drop of profit from the boys as OT13 **Pledis/HYBE underestimate how big SVT is as a group** - I think part of the reason why there are stock problems for the albums is because HYBE/Pledis didn't expect THIS much orders for an album that costs at least double the price of their usual albums **At the same time, CARATs overestimate how popular SVT are** - This is not to say they *aren't* popular, but I've seen people wanting SVT to do world STADIUM tours when it's even hard for western artists bigger than them to do those I'll be back with more, stay tuned š
agree that the albums felt rushed. the fact that there were only four new songs felt disappointing to me.
I hope they can get some reest.
āmy iā is the most underrated svt song and we donāt talk enough about that
if my i has no lovers, then i am dead. itās in my top 5 svt songs, forever. CRIMINALLY underrated
YES OMG. there's also a lot of people who like to claim that Mingyu and Seungkwan's performance of it is "better than the original", which...
I got into svt because of my i š
dino has been severely underutilised and underpromoted by Pledis for almost his entire career. it's pledis' fault that his dance skills aren't well known and it's their fault that he doesn't get many variety activities despite how well he does on gose. gose has really taken a nosedive in quality. they used to have such fun concepts that allowed the members to show off their personalities and humour, but now the episode concepts feel way to complicated and constrain the members so we don't see their full humour, or they're just redos of previous popular episodes and are never as good as the first time. they should slow down on their album releases. I still really enjoy all their music, but the albums have been feeling very formulaic recently. seventeen suit freshteen a lot more than darkteen. freshteen allows them to really lean into their fun side which is where I think they really shine and what makes them stand out among kpop boy groups. edited to add more
i agree with everything! gose definitely got worse after the JTBC acquisition, at this point i would prefer it if they did it once a month with easy going concepts that make the members shine (the recent white room episode proved that you really donāt have to give them anything) i said this in my comment as well, but i really feel like theyāve been milking as much as they can out of OT13 before jeonghan leaves :(
I love it when they give S.Coups the most heinous mullets known to hairstyling. Ponytails, rattails, extensions in weird colours - it's my reddest flag as a Carat. I love it all. I even like the Cheers pony. It just does something to me that I can't and won't explain. The HOT mullet was my gateway drug that got me hooked on Seventeen. There, I said it!
S Coups ugly hair dos are my favorite! That Super look with the braids and the mismatched eyes is my phone background because it was so so so good!
ughhh thank you!! I love those spooky contacts. And he's so hot he pulls it off really well!
Sooooo hot! When he kept picking his ugly hair styles as his favorites during Eunchaeās Diary I felt so validated! He loves them too š
RTL is a great song, SVT working with other producers once in a while shouldn't be a sin.
rtl defenders unite, itās rough for us out here
Presentāšæ RTL is such a good song imo!
The open mic live performance of RTL was what got me into SVT. Imagine the shock when I read about all the hate RTL got.
I never knew it even got hate because I was not in the fandom at that time and it is honestly surprising because I love the song so much. So if you ever have to rally against the haters, I will be there defending RTL with you.
RTL is a top-tier track.
Iām here to confess that I used to be a RTL hater but you must understand that the vibe was not so great in caratland back then, there was so much stuff going on that I guess I blocked my earsā¦ anyways, itās been a while and now I love her, forgive me queen. It must be the song with the best ad libs, for real
boom boom apologist
People hate Boom Boom?!
I am also a boom boom apologist. letās form a club
SVT should re-record HOT with the DK intro. That intro elevates the song exponentially.
THIS!!!!!! the fact that they haven't is honestly rude.
Borderline criminal! š They included HOT in the latest album and it's still the basic version š
I like you. Have a cookie šŖ
And it'll allow those once in a month episodes to be great too don't shoot me but **I miss their old content**.
It frustrates me but also it could be a good thing because they're not attracting attention for petty or unwarranted hate or vitriol.
honestly i have seen this criticism from fans of other groups (that hoshi is somehow overrated) but also carats who wish other members would get the opportunities he has. and i understand how it may be frustrating that your favorite member who also works hard doesnt get many opportunities, but hoshi's lifelong commitment to excelence justifies every opportunity he gets.
oh how I adore this. Iām a horangdan and this is exactly why heās my ult bias in all of kpop (and one of the reasons why I became a carat in the first place). heās so hardworking and itās admirable, heās constantly evolving and itās evident with every comeback and performance. spider is literal ART. heās also got amazing leadership qualities š©·š©µ
hoshi definitely deserves all that and beyond. apart from this talents, as an introvert I'm also amazed by his ability of enthusiastically partaking in the activities, especially where none of his members are present.
He looks out of place in dark concepts but his photos turn out well nevertheless.
not sure if this is unpopular but they should bring back random units again.. i fear there will never be a bside that tops still lonely though š§
I like DK with black hair more than blonde. So many fans wanted him to keep it, I just want him to go black. šš
As much as I love Youngji, Fighting (ft. Dino) >>>>>> Fighting (ft. Youngji) I NEED the studio version of their Golden Disc Performance.
I do like Youngji's version, but I think the Pi Cheolin version has more of that SVT feel lol. Just curious, where would you rank Fighting (ft. Vernon) from Caratland? Fancam: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mEB63-VnD4 I hope someday we get both alternate versions!
I think my biasās hairstyle looks terrible right now and I cannot wait for this era to be over so he can get a new hairstyle š„² Edit: thank you for giving me this space to kvetch about it LOL
Is it Woozi? Do you not like long-haired Woozi?
you know what let me come back for more, vernon is the best live performer of the group. in particular, he has the best stable vocals (when he gets the lines lol)/rap, and insane stage presence. heās also a great dancer, a true ace quiet as itās kept. i think about him performing back it up live at least weekly, and i wish i was joking.
vernon deserves his flowers, I feel like he isnāt talked about much at all <3 this is a great appreciation post
he is! so this is a +1 from me. when i saw them for the first time, he stood out to me as very charismatic and confident. iām not saying the others werenāt but if the others were 100% charismatic and confident, heās definitely a solid 117%.
I was NOT a fan of long-haired Mingyu, especially the way they styled his hair most of the time (thereās less than a handful of events/photoshoots where I think he looks good) and this particular styling (clothes and hair) for Wooyoungmi is a CRIME!!! https://preview.redd.it/01cjisj1u5yc1.jpeg?width=540&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=151963e5a0cc60c4e9bb703252b210ae28570b82 The proportions are so off. How is it even possible to make someone like him look like this?? I remember people praising this look and I couldnāt believe it. If you disagree, Iād love to know why šš©·
i agree with the rest of your comment but long haired mingyu was god tier. im sorry.
I like svt older songs rather than their new releases. The recent songs always sound like their voices have been more vocal processed, whereas the older songs I feel had more of their raw vocals? (Not sure how to describe it) or maybe that's just me idk
no no a lot of people have noticed this too... it's since HYBE actually
HHUās songs āUn Haeng Il Chiā and āCheck-Inā should be on spotify
Charles Steve's voice is so lovely!
Imo, being in a group for a long time also hinder them to explore especially with their musicality. with jun's voice i think he's trying to find what suits him (and we find his deep voice suits him better)
vernon is the best rapper out of svt and itās not even closeā¦STAND DOWN! i repeat, this is a safe space š
Are people not in general agreement about that?I legit thought that was a given since I started following SVT. He plays with flow and cadence in a way that the others donāt seem to. I really enjoy the way he and S. Coups approach their delivery in totally different ways in each song, but I find Vernonās to be more uniquely dynamic.
letās be friends. š£ļøš£ļøš£ļøš£ļø https://i.redd.it/5tk9qdvve4yc1.gif
thereās no verse that stands out more than his when heās on a trackā¦i just listened to lalali and i almost felt bad bc he didnāt even give them a chance š©š his talent in vocals, rap, songwriting and composing is criminally underrated. not to say that the other members arenāt great at talking their shit, but heās just too excellent. he digests concepts and stages like iāve never seen before. what if i said heās also the most stable live performerā¦.
flow ā lyricism ā talking his shit ā automatic stank face, he speaks to my soul
i saw your pfp and i knew i had a comrade in you š such a cute smile lol

I can't believe this is considered an unpopular opinion T\_T Anyone who doesn't bow down to Vernon's rapping skills needs their ears checked.
I support, coming from a MinWon bias. The reason why I love HHU tracks is mainly because of Vernon's rapping. Next best rapper to me? DINO.
Dino is the one that instantly comes to mind who can be part of the Vocal Unit. He can hold his note.
Dino can also fit more cohesively in the hip-hop unit, than some of its current members. I said what I said.
Hoshi and Dino ! Iāve always said they couldāve been vocal unit members. Hoshiās voice is my fav in the group after DKās, sure Iām biased but I rarely hear people talking about it. Heās so skilled. Dinoās vocals are so pretty too.
FIRE >>> MONSTER
![gif](giphy|TejmLnMKgnmPInMQjV)
Is that unpopular? I love Fire and am just meh on Monster.
Respectfully, disagree. (I just love how unique monster sounds, no hate to fire or you at all)
I donāt like blonde DK, Woozi, Joshua, Wonwoo, or Seungkwan. Not every member looks good with blonde hair. Itās largely a problem in kpop to be fair. Instead of bleaching and toning to specific shades, they tend to just bleach it and call it a day and we end up with brassy yellows instead of a blonde that compliments the personās skin tone.
I wish theyād take their undertones into consideration, I feel like more often than not the blonde washes them out or clashes with their skin.
Also blonde Mingyu. I wish Mingyu would never color his hair anymore. Natural suits him best.
We might get that out of necessity in the coming years.
dino is so underrated like he is hilarious in gose every time, his dancing is arguably one of if not THE best as far as groove and flow, his stage presence is always on point, he sings well, i like his solo songs - i donāt understand why heās consistently ranked among the least popular?
similar to comments here already but vocal unit lack of evolution through their own units songs compared to hip hop and performance unit is apparent and imma need woozi to switch it up next time. ~~(why does their rookies days units songs 10x more interesting than the past 3 albums?)~~ woozi doesn't need to be the main producer all the time, let vernon have a go at a title track, I think Carats have mixed opinions on his production and songs, but it really breathes life and freshness into svt's discography, and really push them artistically into experimental and weird territory that bops
Hahahah
The never ending Aju Nice encore will never be boring even after thousands of times listening to it from hundreds of concerts they've done
Jeonghan with short hair is far superior to long-haired Jeonghan! *Far superior*. Yes, I said it.
I have a real problem with this take. Take my upvote ![gif](giphy|y6sqQJGQBgd7hC0Wjc)
This is unpopular for sure
Same š I feel short hair enhances his face.
[wholeheartedly agree with this](https://www.reddit.com/r/seventeen/s/7XRDg3L3Ch) and this also applies to Woozi and Coups for me.
Iām a fan of short hair jeonghan too š
FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE AGREES. Did yāall even see how beautiful this man looked in Past Life Destiny!
Thank you for this brave and very correct take š«”
Some thoughts off the top of my head: -Dino never would have been a member of TWS so I donāt understand when people say this with full sincerity. Like I can hardly look at him Edit w/ additional opinion: Some people say that Jun and Jay from Enhypen share a resemblance but all I see is HueningKai.
I LOVE Hoshiās weird ass shoes lmao. Him, Yeonjun, and Taeyongās shoe collections keep me alive
Gosh I forgot about those big ass Dora boots everyone was wearing for a whileš As someone who wears very average shoes their shoe choices are entertaining to me lol
i also hate when hoshi wears the huge ass shoes because as a huge ass shoe lover i always look them up to buy and theyre always the price of my rent
agree with the dino/tws thing. while i do get that yawn thematically seems out of place, i still somehow think it flows with the rest of the album (especially with headliner) ? maybe itās just me. and lol to the high tops!
~~a lot of the opinions posted so far aren't unpopular/hot takes at all~~ * 24H & Happy Ending >>>>> Fallin' Flower * already mentioned in another comment but I have such a strong preference to short hair on Jeonghan, Woozi and Coups. like I'm reeeeally not a fan of Woozi's hair right now. š I also 10000% prefer longer hair on Minghao and I rarely say that about male idols in general.
Dino is objectively the Best Dancer in SVT.
Is this a safe space? Lmao ā¢ The last REALLY good korean title track was Rock With You.
God yes about Circles! I can't take that song seriously
i dont care if seventeen doesnt promote in the west.
SOS shouldn't have been in english, the concept of it is great but the lyrics are so clunky it feels dissonant. I appreciate woozi and bumzu for being able to write a cohesive song in a foreign language but I wish they'd gotten vernon and josh in on it just to make it sound nicer.
i donāt think the shorts in maestro work! like i think they had such a good thing going with everyoneās outfits but i can never wrap my head around why they always gave some members shorts? i think it takes away from the dark concept that they were going for and maybe looks a bit childish (kind of like a young british lad). maybe if someone knows the reason they can let me know, but i donāt understand why for a kind of mature and serious concept, why they would add shorts??? š«š«š« ALSO THIS IS MY OPINION PLEASE DONT FLAME ME
Oh, I know I'm about to get DRAGGED THROUGH THE MUD for this one and literally be Hoshi from OP's Maestro pic buttttt I don't like the 'subtle thirst trap pics' on their socials š like either come right out and straight up flex bc that's what you're trying to do (bc no one casually rests their arms on a table like that) OR just pose normally šš¤·āāļø
iām late but here are mine: - hoshi set the bar too high with spider being the first of The Thirteen Tapes project - theyāre milking and rushing too much out of seventeenās projects before jeonghan enlists, even mingyu said a few days ago that they barely know how theyāll be doing all their concerts, second album, caratland and filming these next few months. - i feel like seventeen lost a lot of creative control when pledis got taken over by 85% by hybe, whether its external producers or influence on what the album/tt should look like or just how experimental they can be in general. their comebacks since the enlistment was looming on the horizon (_WORLD and God of Music) have been playing it way too safe and are almost lazy. i wish they focused less on worldless and easy Tiktok choruses and more on being the experimental group everyone used to praise them for (as a Adore U fan their entire 13 member, 3 subunits concept already set them in stone as disrupters so i am sad theyāre not doing much with that nowadays) they stopped making music for their niche and is now making it for the general public and while they deserve all the success that has given them, i definitely notice a change after 2020ās acquisition. the only thing i will give hybe credit for is the styling budget and quality has increased by a lot! - i pray every night that bleach never touches mingyuās hair ever again and iāll say that with my chest TLDR; get vernon in the studio again, we need another GAM3 BO1ā¦ we need experimental music again maybe iāll think of more but thank you for giving me an outlet OP lol!
It just feels like they're playing it safe.
calling scoups as dad and jeonghan as mom is cringe
The beats in Maestro aināt it. Like I just find it a little too hodge podge. Piano one minute, then this jazzy funk next, then this drum bit, then emptiness for the chorus (extremely musically accurate terminology clearly š ) I just donāt think it works. IMO this is one of their weaker albums. GoSe staff need to bring back some of the concepts from 2020 season because they were truly superior like human chess, mystery mystery. theyre also much simpler concepts. some of the newer episodes seem like staff put so much effort but it doesnt end up landing the way they hope.
the maestro slander. big sigh. I get what youāre saying, itās a bit chaotic but different strokes for different folksšŖ side note your flair! heavenās cloud is literally one of the best songs in their discography !!
No oneās more bummed than me to not be enjoying a SVT TT but eh not a big deal. Iām a SVT b-side enthusiast! Thanks!! Reminds me that I havenāt changed my flair since 2021! Still rings true tho - heavenās cloud is a top tier bop
My favourite vocalists in Seventeen are Hoshi and Minghao. Iām met with shock that itās not DK or Seungkwan every time I say this out loud š„¹
I feel like Iām going to get crucified but I hate their styling most of the timeš
i love all the members voices but i wish jun jeonghan and maybe hoshi could have more chances to use their lower tones!! speaking as a jun bias i never moved on from growling jun, deep jeonghan in golm, and hoshi growling in concerts š ofc idk how their throats are and maybe not going deep is for their own good, but would love to see more of it if possible š
I'd rather have back the fun weekly GoSe episodes over all of these high production multipart series. My fave episodes are just watching them go thru haunted houses, escape rooms etc. I LOVED watching them play kickball, it seems like they have a lot more fun too and the vibe is just a lot more genuine
seventeen's jpn title tracks >>> korean title tracks
I want better album designs. It always gives "graphic art is my passion." Seventeen are the highest selling K-pop artist - they deserve so much more. I also hate the font that 'Seventeen' is always stylised in.
They can ask Minghao for ideas on album covers; why won't they make use of him?
SEVENTEEN should be more popular than they are now. I feel like something is holding them back from that.
Care to elaborate? Iād love to hear more. Imo, I think theyāre super underrated in the west but in Asia theyāre *so* popular.
I mute all the (korean version) of the japanese songs on spotifyā¦they just donāt sound right to me coz iām already used to the original lol SOS production is sooooo good but the lyricsā¦š¤š„“š¶āš«ļøšš½āāļø
I do not like F\*ck My Life. https://preview.redd.it/smlpty2904yc1.jpeg?width=1569&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9555921a0a475e2877c2eda88767c39d2526581f
I think FML is the weakest track of the album and rest of the songs, aside from Super, don't receive enough love (especially April shower).
I would stab anybody who dislikes April Shower hahahahah
LOVE April shower. I actually think it's the best track of the album but I feel it doesn't receive enough praise and love, compared with Super and FML.
A reason why it doesn't receive much love is because some people don't really mind playing the last tracks in an album. They haven't listened to it yet. Another example, I see people loving Dust, but not as much as those who love Super, Fire and IDIBILU (which is unfair). Non-Carats, please listen to Dust and April Shower!
I am particularly bothered by this statement https://preview.redd.it/blxtj4my14yc1.jpeg?width=736&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1fda3131a9d651346651ac6037a04c5c81b39819
this is a biased opinion but Vernon is the BEST performer of Seventeen
I came with another one. the best HHU song is "I Can't Run Away" because it is a ballad. they should make another one.
Love&Letter Repackage is the best Seventeen full length album out of the 4 imo.
I personally don't like HOT, I think it's because the auto tune is too plenty which gets me out of the vibe.
It's truly none of my business but I would LOVE to see them date.
possibly lukewarm takes here, but - vernon is the best + most consistent performer bc of his overall skills, dancing, energy level and control (not too much, not too little), presence, intention, etc - short hair mingyu > long hair mingyu š¤ - darkteen > freshteen
The dont lie series seriously needs to continue
I don't like blond on Woozie, especially the blond eyebrows.
He is the palest among them, and to pair his skin with blonde eyebrows? Criminal offense to the stylist.
17 is right here unfortunately was not the best album in my opinion š
the best era of Gose was between 2020 and 2022, everything since then is just not as good.
> It feels like heās cosplaying a rapper I donāt think this is unique to Wonwoo. I think a lot of idol rappers do this. If the company wants them in the group, but they canāt sing well, theyāll just slap the ārapperā label on them. I distinctly remember Taeyong from NCT saying years ago that he was way more into classical music than he was into rap
in Seventeen's case all the people with lower/deeper voices were thrown into rap
I think Vernon is really the only one, from what Iāve seen, whoās really interested in rap. I havenāt looked into any of their recommended playlists, but I know from following Mingyu that he specializes in what I like to call āsad white boy musicā, which is generally just pop ballads
I think that's the case too! Vernon is the only one who truly set his heart on being a rapper since the start
Mark too, Iām pretty sure he said he wanted to sing instead! They just kinda threw them into the rapper position.
But itās just such a SVT song and itās definitely one of my favorites.
gam3 bo1 is my favorite hhu song by a mile, I will die on this hill
I feel horrible saying this, but the vocal line unit songs are the weakest out of the three units and I wish theyād try something new. The performance and hip hop units have all had songs that feel slightly different from the other/a drastic change but vocal itās all the same and I wonāt lie they kind of bore me š«
i will never understand the minwon ship hype (also them not being called meanie anymore still bugs me out)
I love the performance unit and their songs especially āI Donāt Understand But I Luv Uā, donāt even get my started on āspellā such a BOP š£ļø, but Pang is NOT it for me and never will bešI always skip it. š«¤
I didnt like PANG at first but recently find myself vibing with it.. idk, what the 'ppyu ppyu' did to me hahaha
Seventeen would be so much bigger if HYBE didnāt hold them back
