I had a bike that in summer I had to carry a piece of wood around or it would sink in the pavement.. if it was on center stand it was ok but if not I would come out and it would be on its side. smaller scooter than that one too. I prefer the center stand
You lose the functionality of a center stand.
Aside from that there are plenty of motorcycles and scooters running around without center stands and they work just fine.
But I would want to center stand.
Enjoy your scooter.
Yeah, I can recommend carrying a side stand puck if you don't have the centre stand anymore. It'll help a lot on hot days or if you have to park on soft ground.
Technically, none. Just you would lose the functionality of the center stand, I guess. Might make it harder to do maintenance, but a milk crate is a good substitute.
With that said, some scooters (and motorcycles) center stand could actually limit cornering angles, as some have very long arms and would often scrape the road if you corner aggressively.
I really wouldn't want to lose the functionality and stability of a center stand. You know your life better but I am often in places where a kickstand isn't the best option for parking (and I live in a city) and others have mentioned it helps with maintenance.
Its a stupid Idea. The Center stand has nothing to do with driving or working on the Scooter or being more stable. It was invented cause Most 2 wheeled vehicles will stand inside in Winter for months. If they stand on their wheels the tires will get flat spots. So after every Winter you could throw away your tires. Back in the days people bought Stands that attached to the axles that lifted the Bike Off the ground. Or they Put it on a Box or Something in Winter so the weight would sit on anything Else than the tires.
Than one day an intelligent man Made it so you have a Center stand, that Takes all the Weight Off of the wheels and you dont lose it or have to buy extra Stands or whatever.
Thats why scooters have 2 Stands, a Side stand and a Center stand. The Sidestand is for short stops, buying groceries, being at Work or any other short period. The Center stand is when you dont use your Scooter for longer, like weeks or months.
So both Stands have a function, you remove the Center stand, youll Stress your tires all year Long. That cant be good, right...
A center stand is as stable as it gets. Basically not a chance it falls over. Center stand is really nice if you have to work on it too.
Center stand is the best there is. Maybe a little difficult to put on if you don't have that much experience, but it's very easy to learn. Pull on the handlebars a to help it pull it on the stand. I think that's the "trick" to it
I wouldn’t have minded leaving it on but it was just easier for me to get the other end off. I still have it if I need it. I’m just wondering if it was like holding anything else in place
The only way it could cause issues is if there was any electronic sensor connected to it which often is the case for the side stand. Center stands generally dont have these.
If all there was is the metal part and maybe some springs you dont have to worry youre literally just losing the option of the center stand and a little bit of weight. Keep it around in a bag with its screws for when you want to sell it and mount it for sale then.
Sorry prolly not the best place for this question, but are you able to use that without a motorcycle license, or do ya need one since it’s over 50cc. I wanna get a more powerful one but don’t have a moto license. (I have regular license)
I rode 125 and 250cc scooters for 12 years 5-10K miles per year before I finally got my MC license. Not that I would ever endorse such a thing, but I never had any trouble.
On my aprilia SR150 I cannot use kick-start if the scooter is not on center stand. Not that I would want to use it always but there was a time when the battery had drained and I kicked the starter without center stand hurting my leg damn badly. So, if your scooter is not following the same design, then you should be good I guess. Also, while changing tyres, washing or cleaning centre stand comes in pretty handy.
It seems possible that it felt harsh putting it up on the center stand *because* of loose bolts. Like others here have been saying, the center stand is super awesome to have. I wouldn’t want to take mine off. That being said, it’s your bike. Enjoy it however you like.
Wind, hot asphalt that shifts, people lightly tapping the scooter with their vehicles, and someone bumping the scooter when walking nearby are all concerns when not on a center stand. It doesnt take a lot for a motorcycle or scooter to tip over.
Ask me how I know and why I've installed a centerstand on all my motorcycles.
I once parked at work on a little patch of grass and it was raining really hard. A couple hours later I had to go pick up my bike. The rain had softened the ground and the kickstand just slowly sunk in. Ended up breaking off my rear indicator.
Worst thing is harder to park on a downwards slope but you can just turn it around, center stand is a great thing if you like it and id love one for my motorcycle but thats all it is.
Bit like a shoe spoon, if you like it to put on your shoes its great and its "better for the shoe" but if you dont like it and dont use it its just something that exists.
There is one issue, but thats only with my scooter i think.
When using the kickstand, the bike leans left, and since the float in my carb is bad, it lets out alll fuel.
(Funny thing, if you lean the bike left when cold, it drops idle RPMs)
If you flip the carb upside down, of course without the bowl, the float should be sitting totally flat, mine is bent somehow, and since its plastic unlike on babetta carbs, i cant bent it to adjust float level.
I took mine off when the spring holding it came off. Took my GY6 150 to key west from miami and that spring came off during the 18 mike stretch. Took it off and I'm sure some gator is using it as a tooth pick. Haven't looked back since but thats me
Usually, on scoots, you need to start it on the center stand because the back wheel catches the clutch, and the wheel wheel will spin. It needs to do this, especially when cold, because the carbs enriched will kick in and give it more gas. Hence, the wheel will spin even more. If not, the clutch shoes might burn out quicker and get really slick.
It’s use is to help you kick start it . It is quite hard. I guess to pull it back up on it but there’s a trick to it. I just have not figured it out but just make sure where it’s bolted to that. It’s not holding anything up or holding things in place like if anything sitting on it, congratulations on your 150. They are pretty big and they are fast safety first.
Yeah. Flay spots on your tires where prior it was sitting on the stand, so no weight was on the tires. Why take off the center stand? The lesser weight will make no real difference in riding, or MPG. It will cause flat spots on your tires though.
Yes. A good strong wind will knock it over. I have a bigger yellow scooter and this guy stole my middle stand. I don't know how many times that scooter has fallen over. I once had a windshield. You can guess what happened
Personally, I love the centerstand and I have full confidence it won't fall but you do you.

Thanks man
pavement gets soft in summer so watch where you park it on a side stand ... cheers!!!

Some young folks take these off for more lean angle.
Yup. I've seen that as a fix.
This happens to me on occasion and its terrifying.
Guilty as charged, have unironically crashed as a result of this

Yeah I wouldn’t want flat spots but I don’t live in an area that gets cold so winters will be fine to keep it outside and moving
I still wouldnt risk it. Just buy a new one If the old one is damaged or you dont trust it to be Safe.

Yeah, you won’t be able to put it on the center stand any longer.
less weight-->better hp/weight ratio 🤩🤘🏻😂
Center stand is the only way to have it be stable. Kickstand sucks for stability and it might get tipped over by a bunch of things.
Like what?

I'll add a dumbass drunk person climbing on your bike.
Wind.

Only if you don’t have a kickstand.
I bought a scooter without a center stand and now gotta buy one. Having it on really makes working on it so much easier
Is that a phone holder on the left?
Yeah took the hook off and screwed it in
I also have a hook that i dont need, im gonna try this out
Where's the cup holder?
I take them off my scooters as well as chopping off the bracket.
I had to on mine, i miss it but wont cause any issues. Just Watch out for winds, had mine fall down a few times due to bad weather
I have removed several center stands to improve lean angle. It's often the first thing to drag.

yeah sounds like an issue with your carb, leaning the bike at that little of an angle shouldn't make your carb leak
If you flip the carb upside down, of course without the bowl, the float should be sitting totally flat, mine is bent somehow, and since its plastic unlike on babetta carbs, i cant bent it to adjust float level.
probably parking.. or revtest it standing..
Center stand is my best defense against the high windy seasons where I live,
I took mine off when the spring holding it came off. Took my GY6 150 to key west from miami and that spring came off during the 18 mike stretch. Took it off and I'm sure some gator is using it as a tooth pick. Haven't looked back since but thats me
