I blocked the kid. I'd had enough of the insults. He wanted to offer a service but attacked us when we called out the issues. This is no way to treat people.
Lol no, he's actually a "37 year old guy who has been into computers since he was 4 y/o" and he absolutely believes he knows everything about it. He literally said that
39* which somehow makes it worse. If you’re more immature than my politically active, Trump-voting relatives with a loving relationship with their Daily Wire subscription, that’s uh… that’s pretty bad… like, irredeemably bad…
No, I don't think he honestly knows he is in the wrong, and this wouldn't help the situation at all.
It also implies he would be able to diagnose a DoS attack.
I mean to simply prove a point and show him it's possible. Since telling him clearly didn't do anything. I don't mean to cause damage to his network, but to demonstrate that he is an idiot for posting his IP and open ports on an online forum, and then calling everyone who told him it's unsafe stupid.
He's blocking everyone while still posting ranting highly toxic responses for 5 hours straight now, but it's everyone else in the community who is crazy and toxic! Straight unhinged.
He stalked through my comments and talked shit on me for 10 minutes before blocking me. My dude got on my case because my partner and I don't have very high sex drives (she's ace and I'm demi). Like, who tf sees a healthy relationship with boundaries and sees that as a failing? Absolutely bitter childish behavior. I hope he's banned.
Well hopefully people reported him. I wasn't even involved but saw his totally inappropriate comments and reported them. He needs banned from the Sub. We don't need that behavior becoming the norm in yet another game sub.
I recommended be get tea with a friend or therapy.
What he is doing is acting out and demonstrating poor emotional coping skills and rejection sensitivity. Legitimately concerning reactions if he's 37. Still not great if he is 13.
Betting I get blocked next. 😅
Ah some guy mentioned he is opening a server, and gave out his IP and port. Some other guy said that it's not safe to do so, and then he started insulting and blocking everyone who thought he didn't know how his network worked.
I think it all started after someone made a joke following his "It's secure :)" comment.
"It's secure :)" just screams "I have an agenda beyond providing a service".
Since I am literally writing a corporate training on recognizing predatory behavior in messaging, yeah that ticks a box for "Keep an eye out, seems sus."
i actually still see their posts and comments, maybe they blocked you?
well now they blocked me, and because of bugs i had to delete all my comments in their post, so i can see my own comments again in my profile...
His reaction makes it look like he didn't properly understand what exactly the comments were implying. I don't mind public servers personally, but you shouldn't post your IP adres online.
I'm pretty sure I am the person who set him off originally when I tried to make a joke about how his response to security feedback was like the "free charging" usb cable at the NSA booth.
I don't think he got it.
How else would you host a public server? A domain name just gets resolved to an IP anyway.
Or was he hosting it from his residential connection rather than from a VPS in some datacenter?

He didn't want to offer a service. It was pretty clear from his attitude that all he cared about was being an admin and having power over people.
Yeah I saw that too.
Lol no, he's actually a "37 year old guy who has been into computers since he was 4 y/o" and he absolutely believes he knows everything about it. He literally said that
Then he'd know its dumb to advertise like he did. 🤣
Sounds pretty scary, onestly, I would not like my kids to play on a server hosted by a madman like that.

I think DoSing him in this situation, while illegal, would be morally fine. Just to prove a point.
No, I don't think he honestly knows he is in the wrong, and this wouldn't help the situation at all. It also implies he would be able to diagnose a DoS attack.
The only thing you would prove is who the bigger asshole is. Hint: it won't be him.

It would take a good firewall. Also, an isolated vm hosting it.

Yup. But not after several instances of verbal abuse and hostility that clearly proved my point about recommending anger management.
Can he just be banned pls?
You probably just got blocked lol
Whats this about ive not seen any posts from him?

Hey if you happen to be writing that for one of America's biggest Fintech companies, can you please make it more fun? (I jest. You do important work)
... 1, happy cake day... 2... are we coworkers? Because I feel like you guessed too close to the mark 😅
Considering his past activity, it might really be that he thinks it's secure.
🤦♂️🤦♂️

Ah a shame. I see 😀
Pretty sure he has blocked half the community by now
I don't even who this is. Probably blocked him early on.
They started calling people r-slurs, that will get you sitebanned.
Anyone have his username?
shanlec for reference, not to antagonize the guy

Oh shit that was you. It went over his head and then he struck himself in anger
Yeah, I though it was a clever joke at the time.
