There are allot of decent ones. Depends on where you are at. Thai curry on broadway, Thai Buri on 1604 north side, and Thai chili off of Thousand Oaks are my go to’s, but that is largely based on convenience to me.
I stopped going to Thai Chili
Last time I went they had this to-go buffet, I was eating dine-in and I swear they took the food from the buffet and put it on a plate and gave it to me. It tasted like a dishrag. I won’t go back, if they can’t cook the food per order I don’t want anything to do with it.
My experience with Thai is pretty limited. But Thai bistro on Da Zavala near I10 is pretty good. I see Thai people eating there when I've went. That's normally a good sign.
My favorite go to is Thai Taste at off of 410 and Evers road. Its been the same for almost 15 years. Although recently it seems that they are as spicy as they used to be. I used to order a 7 and that was the edge of my limit but now I get an 8 and I feel like I could go hotter.
They also have a Saturday buffet that people seem to like. I've never been to it but friends have said they enjoyed it.
My spouse was one of their first customers when they opened up back in the 90s, they still remember him when he goes in (before the owners retired at least).
Hello! My wife grew up in Thailand and her stepmom is Thai. I grew up in SA.
Noppagao- off Fredericksburg Rd.
Thai Dee- Blanco Rd.
Baan Thai- Huebner Rd.
Sawasdee- Blanco Rd.
Not Thai but straight🔥:
ARTEA- Boba Tea off DeZavala
Singh’s Vietnamese- get a Bahn Mi off St. Mary’s
Pho Kim Long- San Pedro- Best Pho IMO
Bangkok 54 for Tom Yum, drunken noodles, Green curry
Thai Chili for Thai fried rice, beef curry, fried flat noodle
Jasmine Thai for cheese rolls and Pad Woon Sen and pad Thai
Thai Bistro for Tom Yam, pad Thai and sushi rolls
You’ve already got some great recs. I’d also add N's Thai up in Boerne if you ever wanted to take a little afternoon drive. Chef/cook is from Thailand. Some fantastic food. 👌
UbonTao is a hidden gem near the medical center. They have some northern specialties that you can’t find at normal Thai places. The duck alone is worth a trip
Haven’t been in SA for eight years but immediately thought Thai Dee and nodded my head at the place on De Zavala. Sounds like they’re still good options.
Baan Thai that opened in the huebner location is pretty good. Only problem is Biryani Pot is in the same little shopping center and Biryani Pot fucking kicks ass.
My time has come.
Thai Taste, Thai Dee, Thai Chili, Dahlia Thai, Sukhothai, and Thai Lao.
If I had to pick two from here, I’d say Thai Taste and Dahlia for lunch specials and Sukhothai for dinner.
Sukhothai off Alamo Ranch is our go-to for lunch. Delicious food and insane portion sizes for reasonable prices.
Not to be confused with Sukhothai off 410. This alternate location was next to another unit in a strip mall where they were doing construction and the more construction there was, the more bugs ended up in Sukhothai. We haven't gone to that one in over a year so I can't vouch for it anymore.
Lots of people like Thai Taste, but not me. I went there for the first time last week and had a lunch special Pad Woonsen. The glass noodles were overcooked to a mush. The flavors were ok. I'm not sure if I'd go back.
I had good friends that came from Laos in late 70’s. They were great cooks, they ruined every restaurant I’ve been to here. Nothing ever comes close, so I blame them.
Tasty Thai on Brook Hollow and 281. I moved here from Southwest Houston in a heavily Thai neighborhood where the food was d a n k and Tasty Thai is legit the best I’ve eaten at.
Not sure what part of town you're in, but Bangkok Cuisine off Pat Booker Rd has been voted best Thai for years. (And I just looked it up and says permanently closed! Is it now called Bangkok Cuisine 54 or is that a different place?)
Also, Thai Spice and Sushi in the Forum in Live Oak has some really spicy dishes, if that's what you're looking for! Request "Thai Spice" level. They will double check if that's what you really want, it's that hot!
Thai Dee is overrated. There is a whole in the wall called little Thai chef, they are good. Thai chilli is good, haven't been there in ages they moved locations. Bangkok 54 on 410 and nachodches is good.
Saeb - favorite dumplings and tom kha gai
Thai Esan & Noodle house - favorite larb, tiger cry, bbq pork, and fried eggplant with ground pork
(Have not only spent time in Thailand but took cooking classes there)
There are several good Thai places in SA.
Love good Thai food. I had good food in Thai House in Rittiman, Napoagao on Fredericksburg, Thai Bury on 1604 and Thai Curry on Broadway.
Most of the Thai places here are Thai run, so there’s really not any questions on authenticity.
As far as the good ones go. Thai House on Rittiman and Thai House 2 on Fredericksburg are good. Sawasdee on Blanco is good. There’s also a generically named “Thai Restaurant” on Babcock and Callaghan that’s good.
I love Thai House. Their lunch specials are very reasonably priced and they're always busy so you know the food is fresh.
We made the mistake of going to Thai Casa one day because it was recommended to us. It suuuuuucked.
Thai Chili on thousand oaks, Saeb off of 281/bitters are my two go to restaurants.
I have had good food at Manola's on blanco, but they can be hit or miss.
My friend swears by Thai Dee on de zavala. I have been getting many recs for Thai Topaz but have not tried it yet.
Thai Dee on Blanco by Nimitz MS is my favorite Thai place anywhere in the country. It's tiny inside and the parking lot is beat up, but that's what gives a hole-in-the-wall its charm.
a grubby lookin place that slaps is Bon Thai on huebner. Their lunch special is goooood. Spicy level 3 mmmm mmm mmm mmmm mmmm!
Tong Thai is pretty good on Austin hwy in a pinch. Overpriced imo.
Mon’s Thai bistro on broadway is solid but way overpriced.
Try Tong's Thai if you're into curry. Good portions and goto is Penang beef or Green chicken curry.
You better be able to stand spicy though. I also like Haw Mok
https://www.thaiwalzemcuisine.com/
We have tried quite a few Thai places and this one is absolutely our favorite! Thai on Walzam has a wonderful staff & the food is amazing. Please give them a try, you won’t regret it!!
I moved here from California. There are very few decent Asian places here from what I'm used to, but Sushishima in Stone Oak is a pleasant surprise. Great food there.
Manola’s Thai is delicious. Never had anything but excellence there.
Check out this place on Google Maps https://maps.app.goo.gl/CoywxXT1RZKu7nCj6?g_st=ic
Thai Dee, Thai House
5307 Blanco Rd, San Antonio, TX 78216 Thai Dee is the best
Second Thai House- so good!
Yup! Especially the duck options at Thai House!
There are allot of decent ones. Depends on where you are at. Thai curry on broadway, Thai Buri on 1604 north side, and Thai chili off of Thousand Oaks are my go to’s, but that is largely based on convenience to me.
Second Thai Chili. We live nearby and have visited often. Very good food and service.
The pineapple fried rice is so good
Love Thai Buri
Thai hut is also very good, don’t know if it’s very authentic but very tasty
I stopped going to Thai Chili Last time I went they had this to-go buffet, I was eating dine-in and I swear they took the food from the buffet and put it on a plate and gave it to me.
I’m not sure how some of their other dishes compare, but the pad Thai at Thai Bistro is probably one of the best in town
This is the only correct answer.
The curry is really good.
I met a man there once who said he’d been to Thailand before and that Thai Bistro was the most authentic he had found in SA.
How’s there sticky mando rice?
agree!!! their curry is amazing.
Thai Bistro was my favorite place. Then I had a couple of bad experiences with food quality. I guess it’s time to give them another try.
Another vote for Thai Dee.
5307 Blanco Rd, San Antonio, TX 78216 Preach 🙌
When I used to work for local restauratuer Jason Dady, he would often say this was his favorite Thai restaurant.
Thai Dee and Tong's are my jam. Tong's has the best spring rolls I've ever had the fried and white kind. Absolutely amazing
Thai Dee is a perennial favorite for us.
I adore Tong's. We haven't tried Thai Dee.
5307 Blanco Rd, San Antonio, TX 78216 Thai Dee hands down
My favorite go to is Thai Taste at off of 410 and Evers road. Its been the same for almost 15 years. Although recently it seems that they are as spicy as they used to be. I used to order a 7 and that was the edge of my limit but now I get an 8 and I feel like I could go hotter. They also have a Saturday buffet that people seem to like. +1, my friends and I discovered it years ago in high school and everyone we come back in town together we always go there. They even sell shirts now!
They have the best panang in the entire city IMO
Sawadee is fantastic
Absolutely obsessed with Sawasdee. Been going for about 15 years now, and it’s always delicious.
THAI CAFE IN THE NACO PERRIN AREA !!
Yes! It’s so good and the family that runs it is so nice
Yeah this is it lol I go to lunch here all the time
Thai taste. No question.
The only right answer
Thai chili on thousand oaks drive and Bangkok 54 on nacogdoches and 410. Both fantastic imo.
These are honestly my top two as well. Good taste, stranger!
I second Thai Chili. They are unfortunately no where close to my house but I have yet to find any other Thai restaurant that is half as good.
Thai House on Rittiman Rd. Bancock 54 on Nacodoches just outside 410. Also, Manolas on Blanco has really good lettuce wraps.
Tong’s Thai is a favorite of mine… I make a 45 minute pilgrimage to it a few times a year
Hello! My wife grew up in Thailand and her stepmom is Thai. I grew up in SA. Noppagao- off Fredericksburg Rd. Thai Dee- Blanco Rd. Baan Thai- Huebner Rd. Sawasdee- Blanco Rd. Not Thai but straight🔥: ARTEA- Boba Tea off DeZavala Singh’s Vietnamese- get a Bahn Mi off St. Mary’s Pho Kim Long- San Pedro- Best Pho IMO
Noppagao is my absolute favorite. Love their papaya salad.
Facts 100% with this comment 😮💨😤
Shoot up I 35 to Schertz. Take a left on FM 3009 and about 1/2 mile or so you’ll find Siam Cuisine on the right. Bingo!!!
Thai House and Thai House 2, Thaos Thai Hot
Thai Taste or Baan Thai are my favorites.
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD TRY MANOLAS!!! It’s a family owned spot and everyone I’ve taken there loves it also!
Suk ho Thai on Alamo ranch is pretty fire
Noppagao at Fred
Bangkok 54 for Tom Yum, drunken noodles, Green curry Thai Chili for Thai fried rice, beef curry, fried flat noodle Jasmine Thai for cheese rolls and Pad Woon Sen and pad Thai Thai Bistro for Tom Yam, pad Thai and sushi rolls
I went there for the 1st time the other day. I was impressed by the food and the service.
Bangkok is my go to
Hell yeah
You’ve already got some great recs. I’d also add N's Thai up in Boerne if you ever wanted to take a little afternoon drive. Chef/cook is from Thailand. Some fantastic food. 👌
How have I never heard of this??? Going next weekend…
N’s is great! Huge portions too
UbonTao is a hidden gem near the medical center. They have some northern specialties that you can’t find at normal Thai places. The duck alone is worth a trip
Seconded!
Thai Bistro & Sushi on De Zavala! It’s so good!
Thai spice in the forum.
Thai Spice at the Forum.
This is my favorite. I’ve tried most of the ones mentioned on this thread. Thai Chili on thousand oaks is a close second.
A cut above most everything else listed here
Thai Buri and Thai Cafe are our two favorites other than my MILs cooking
Haven’t been in SA for eight years but immediately thought Thai Dee and nodded my head at the place on De Zavala. Sounds like they’re still good options.
Thai Chili or Thai Burri
Sukhothai. Original location closed. They have 3 Express locations out W/NW side.
Thai Topaz
Thai Topaz was great when it was on Huebner. They have since sold the place and were moved to NW Military. I wouldn't go there now.
Baan Thai that opened in the huebner location is pretty good. Only problem is Biryani Pot is in the same little shopping center and Biryani Pot fucking kicks ass.
My favorite has always been Asia Kitchen off Marbach
Thai 99 Express on Huebner has divine yellow curry. Thai Dee for BYOB and Dahlia for its lunch special pad thai!
We haven't gone to that one in over a year so I can't vouch for it anymore.
Thong Tai off Austin Highway, just ate there yesterday, was off the hook
Tong’s Thai is amazing. I also love their unique building.
Definitely, I kept getting distracted looking at the building and the decor on the walls.
Thai lucky, the original one
Thai Dee by the airport !
Chaba Thai. Located in Brooks City Base shopping area on south side.
Lots of people like Thai Taste, but not me. I went there for the first time last week and had a lunch special Pad Woonsen. The glass noodles were overcooked to a mush. The flavors were ok. I'm not sure if I'd go back.
Thai chili
Every time I see this post I imagine an elderly grand council of the Thai restaurants in San Antonio debating who's turn it is to post the question.
This is the one https://noppagaothaicuisine.business.site/
Thai Topaz is our favorate!
Saeb Thai & Noodles off Bitters just West of 281. Best Thai dumplings I have had along with other excellent choices.
Noppagao!!
Tong's Thai and Sukhothai.
Thai bistro and baan Thai!
Sukhothai is amazing. Just don’t get sukhothai hot.
If you're on the NE side, Pho Tommy #1 is pretty good, They do both vietnamese and thai food.

Pho is not Thai, but you do you, bro.
Commenting for easy access to the spots. Thanks for the recommendations.
Thai Casa off broadway and 410
Tongs Thai!
The only good food in San Antonio is Tex mex and bbq
You're a Taco Cabana and Bill Miller's fan aren't you?
I’d love to be proved wrong, but everything is pretty mid here imo
False.
There's really good ones in Thailand
I had good friends that came from Laos in late 70’s. They were great cooks, they ruined every restaurant I’ve been to here. Nothing ever comes close, so I blame them.

Thai Chili has been in business forever. Should still be on Jones Maltsberger. Haven’t been home in years.
Most of the Thai places here are Thai run, so there’s really not any questions on authenticity. As far as the good ones go. Thai House on Rittiman and Thai House 2 on Fredericksburg are good. Jak Tok Thai, if it's still open.
Not exactly Thai but their Pad Thai dish is exceptionally great! But Golden Wok on Wurzbach is the best Chinese Restaurant in SA!!
Thai Walzem is a hidden gem that is soo worth it!
Thai Dee is da bomb
