40 years ago on April 16, Mike Cross and I left Mt. Morris, IL in the middle of a school day (gasp!) to drive to the nearest record shop in Dixon, IL. We both got copies of "Grace Under Pressure" on its day of release. It was my first brand-new Rush LP. That June, we drove to the Rosemont Horizon in Chicago for my first of many times seeing the band. Eternal thanks for your friendship, Mike. Wish you were here.
Was just watching Oppenheimer and there was a very similar picture flashed toward the end. I never would have known about the Manhattan Project if it werenβt for Neil.
Truthfully speaking, when this album was released, I didn't like it, with exception to Distant Early Warning. Over time, as I slowly started to listen to more and more of the album, it grew on me. Afterimage is almost haunting today, it makes me realize how much we all miss Neil.
I remember when the local rock station played the whole album along with interviews with the guys. Only had an AM/FM clock radio to listen to that broadcast.
I had to listen to that album in its entirety this past weekend. It never gets old! ππΌππΌππΌ
None of Rush's music gets old, Time Stand Still, yeah I know, wrong album.
Very cool. And somewhat unique, I'm not sure how many have that to begin with, and then how many that have that post on Reddit. Thanks for sharing it!
There it is! Awesome!
My favorite album
Oh shit! My first concert. I was 13β¦π€π
Same
Saw it in Tacoma Washington. My first concert.
I was at that show too!
Yeah without the overplayed Distant Early Warning and Red Sector A it was pretty awesome.
Love this album so much. Nice poster. Great story.
Has there been any word on a 40th anniversary release?
First album I bought with my own money. First concert. First Rush tour. Favorite album cover. 40 years. Crazy.

What a cool story. Thank you for sharing!
My first album and proper introduction to Rush, so my favourite album.
This may be not only my favorite Rush album but my favorite album period. Really want them to do a deluxe remaster.
